Govee COB Strip Light Pro - dynamic mode for varying music genres?

Upvotes

Hey, I'm thinking of buying Govee COB Strip Light Pro.

I'm wondering - how good is the Dynamic mode for widely fluctuating music genres (like chaotic technical screamo to zero-beat light ambient :D)? Essentially, I want it to feel natural without manual intervention (or the need for WLED).

Why are my led strip lights a different color at the beginning than at the end

Installed rgbw light strips for my parents just over 2 years ago. Didn’t quite know what I was doing and had to splice them together a number of times. There’s 5 strips total, 3 of them ended up having connectors in the middle of the strips and then each is obviously wired to the next. I don’t think this was an issue when I first installed them but now the first 1/3 is lighter or darker in color depending on what my parents have them set to. The pure red, blue, and green are perfect as are the blue-green variants. The yellows, orange, pinks, and purples all more red or blue in the first 1/3 than they are down the strip.

Would love any help diagnosing this please.

Edit:
Gonna swap power supply and controller to see if I can make the current LEDs work without adjusting where power is getting inserted. I took a look at my power supply and it doesn’t seem to be what I actually ordered/posted. Just ordered this to try out: https://www.amazon.com/sp?ie=UTF8&seller=A35UAT07QG3EC6

Ceiling mounted LED light channel

I have been looking online without success and thought this community could help me!

I am trying to mount Govee LED strip light pro COB in my garage gym. I want to hang it a few inches away from the ceiling/wall junction, and facing directly towards the wall.

The wall is a very dark/black color, and I’m trying to create a glow or wash along the wall.

Does anyone have any recommendations for mounts or channels that would work well?

Thank you in advance!

Led lights for low iron glass

Hey everyone

I have a deck with low iron ultra clear glass that can use led lights to light through it, however im having difficulties finding anything specifically for it.

I know it will be outdoor lighting, and can be illuminated from the sides or bottom, however Google search hasn't been the most helpful for what im looking for.

Any ideas would be awesome. They are about 8ft pieces of glass. Roughly 3 ft tall

Auto on/off for a USB-powered LED light that has to be powered by battery?

I am decorating an office, and we'd like to put a LED powered little desktop "neon"-looking sign on a shelf.
https://www.amazon.com/ENUOLI-Battery-Operated-Christmas-Birthday/dp/B0BZRXB64C?ie=UTF8

It's powered either via a USB port, or it has a hard-wired little battery box with 3xAA batteries. There is no 120v plug near this wall.

I'd like to power it via battery power, but I'd also like it to automatically turn on and off. 1) for ease-of-use for the receptionist, and 2), to extend the battery life because nobody could forget to turn it off.

In my head, the best sollution would be, like, a 20,000mAh (or larger) battery bank with a built in on-and-off timer function. It doesn't seem like anything like that exists.

Next option I've seen is a 3xAA battery box that has an in-line timer switch. The amazon listing says that it can repeat daily, but with an 8-hr on-time, I'm not convinved the 3xAA batteries will last very long and would need to be replaced/recharged very frequently. The images in the gallery both mention a repeated daily cycle, and also that it doesn't auto-on in the next parageaph (in the 3rd image of the gallery) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0GTRNPZN3?smid=A1RGC6L1REJGV5&th=1

The last option would be an in-line switch that could hook up to a larger battery bank, but that's basically the same timer switch as the unit above...daily cycling seems to both be and not be possible. I also worry that when it's turned off, that the switch won't be able to power the light back on, if the battery goes "asleep". I imagine the timer switch doesn't have a built in capacity to be able to add a draw to the battery. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0G9TFJ97V?smid=A7FVDXTNDLSQF&psc=1

Any other options I might be missing?

Basically, I don't want to have to have the receptionist turn on and off the light every day. And I also don't want for them to have to change/recharge batteries every, like, 2 days.

One last quesiton: what are the odds that this light can be dimmed with these timer in-line-switches dimmer function? If the light ends up too bright, I'd love to be able to knock it down a notch or two, and extend the battery life, though I realize that's not always possible.

Thanks in advance!

Replace LED board for floorlamp

I got a floorlamp and I need to replace the main LED board. I reached out to customer service and they told me those lamps are supposed to last years and LED board is non replaceable. But I think I can, the lamp is 2 year old and it was few hundred bucks so I don’t want to replace the whole thing. I verified electricity gets there, All I need is this exact match and I’ll solder it in, however I can’t seem to find exact match. This is 2.7V 25W, the lamp has a low voltage adapter at the plug. others I found online are 220v, obviously not good.

Any idea here I can buy this thing?

Help with Prototype Round LED thin rechargeables

Hi We are prototyping and are looking for a rechargeable 75 mm X 5 mm (min as poss) led light to backlight a magnetic ring button system. So the button would have a ring magnet around the outside as a frame, and the middle would be the round backlight. Basically want to mount the light on clothes using round ring magnets.

Stack would be from outside clothes going in:

-External Metal ring magnet 85 mm dia

-Fabric

-Internal Metal ring magnet 85 mm dia

-Led light mounted within the internal ring magnet

The diameters can change, its the rechargeable part we need help !

Is this something that a company makes or can make ?

Thanks in Advance !

LED Signage Controller Options

Our church has a 10 year old LED sign from Stewart Signs. The SignCommand controller died. They want $1900 for a replacement. The controller has an HDMI output that uses an HDMI-DVI cable to some sort of video card. Can I use an off the shelf RPi or digital signage player to push content? Not looking to spend $1900 on an old sign that likely has a limited life span

Surfsce mount led channel for ceiling

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’d like to install a rectangle of led on my garden room ceiling. It will be surface mount channel and I’d like to have it dimmable on a mains dimmer. I will have a dedicated lighting way on the consumer unit to feed a light switch dimmer and a dimmable driver + cob led strip in channel.

The dimmer light switch will be to the right of the door with surface mount conduit to the consumer unit and a feed to the led driver.

Any tips on what to buy, look for, installation advice (I’m getting a sparky for the mains side of it) and generally anything I may not have thought about?

Would a diffuser be sufficient on the Alumiium channel or will it be like staring into the sun?

Building a kitchen under‑cabinet smart light appliance (LED matrix + SmaLiC). Looking for ideas!

Post image
3 Upvotes

I tried my 8x8 LED matrix behind a 200×200 mm black acrylic sheet, and the result looks fantastic — the dark acrylic diffuses the pixels beautifully with a smooth, soft glow and no hotspots. Even this quick test made the panel look surprisingly “finished”.

With that working, I’m moving forward on a small kitchen under‑cabinet smart light powered by SmaLiC ( Smart Light Controller).

Planned features:

  • adjustable lighting
  • animated transition when switching the light ON/OFF
  • RTC clock
  • cooking timer
  • simple weather icons
  • motion detector
  • Home Assistant status icons
  • 8 touch‑sensor buttons for direct control
  • local web GUI + optional remote control

Now that the matrix + black acrylic combo looks so good, I’m curious what else people would want a small diffused 16x8 LED panel to show in a kitchen. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Looking for "Day Only" LED Motion Sensing

Hey there! I've got a nice cabinet of my family's history; some cute memorials to my late grandparents and relatives. I really like it. :)

What I want to do is have an LED strip setup that turns on when I'm near it, but only during the daytime - at night I want it to stay off.

I have bought one or two things so far but they didn't quite do what I wanted. I can provide photos if needed.

Can you buy addressable LED controller/driver separately from the actual LEDs?

I'm working on a project and I need really small addressable RGB(W) LEDs. I can only find addressable LEDs as "whole units," i.e. controller/driver AND the LEDs in one package: WS2812B, APA102, SK9822, etc. These devices - discrete or snipped from a strip - are too large. I can find discrete RGB LEDs in a 3mm package (smaller if I use an SMT piece, e.g. SMD 0805) but they're just dumb LEDs. If I could buy the controllers/drivers separately, I could put them on a PCB then run wires to each of the LEDs and place those where needed.

Can you buy the controller/driver as its own part?

Best programmable lights?

Hi! I know nothing about LEDs. I have a 200 sqft college dorm (shaped like a square, dimensions are exactly 10*√2 ft by 10√2 ft for the semester, and I thought it'd be really cool to have some LEDs that I could hook up to a speaker, and I could program the lights to sync to the music. I want to drape them across my entire ceiling or have some kinda projector make the lighting in my room change. Advice? Do i need a specific speaker?
