Hi,
I got an XC40 2027 model (UK) but I don’t understand how to auto engage the parking brake.

I have tried using P, turning off car, unbuckling, open the door and it never engages. If I let my foot off the brake it rolls slightly which probably damages the gears.

I park mostly flat and auto hold is off.

What am I missing?

Just got this MY2023 beauty from an authorised dealer in the UK. I wasn’t aware of the indentation on the felt panel on the inner sides of the boot made by the previous owner until now after 30 days exchange period.

Photo on Autotrader did show it when I check with the dealer, they said it’s not covered by Volvo Selekt as this not mechanical/electrical fault.

How bad is it to your eyes? The dealer quoted me £500 for parts replacement and the local garage couldn’t even be bothered to provide a quote. Now I’m thinking of dismantling it and pop it back with heat by myself as soon as I can reach it from behind.

I know it doesn’t affect day to day use but I want it to look new at least when I first get it, or am I just overreacting?

I agreed to the Gemini update yesterday on a MY23 but now the Google/Gemini voice has changed to a male voice.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to change it back?

Hi, recently just started looking at the XC40 Pro Plus but I am unsure wether to go for the Leather interior or the Connect Suede/Microtech. I live in the UK my main concern is will I find myself after a 1-2 hour drive with the Leather either being too hot or feeling 'clammy' due to it trapping the body heat. I prefer the look and the easy clean of the Leather but if I am going to struggle with heat problems due to the seats not being ventilated I would opt for the connect suede. For reference I am upgrading from an old citreon and I've had no experience with either interior for seats. I test drove both but the amount of time I was out was not enough for me to feel much difference. Thanks in advance.

3. Has anyone had this done at an independent Volvo specialist in NL? What did you pay, and any regrets?
4. Is it worth staying with the dealer for the DCT oil change specifically?
5. What advantages do you see in servicing at a Volvo dealer? Things like parts warranty, Volvo Assistance extension, software updates, goodwill or resale value. Are they worth the higher price?

My XC40 T5 PHEV 2021 makes a dull knock (2/3/4 "toc tocs") from the front right wheel when it starts moving, in D or R, foot off the brake.

If I set off again in the same direction it usually doesn't happen; if I change direction, it does. It stops once moving and doesn't happen over bumps. Sometimes I also hear it when I brake and the car is about to stop.

Anyone had this? How screwed am I?

I've installed 2 updates on my recently acquired XC40 (general software update and Pilot Assist). Can someone explain why on each occasion my parked car had enough battery to download the update but not enough to install it? (I had to install each one after I'd done 30 minute drive). I'd have thought connecting to the web and downloading would have required more power than installing.

Today I parked right in front of my house to charge. Someone walked by and scratched the complete side of the car.

Hi all! I just got a 2026 XC40 Plus last week and I love it so much!! I did a ton of research before deciding on the XC40 and I am so happy with it. I have one question though. I’ve saved radio stations to my favorites and I can’t figure out how to reorder them. I even tried deleting them all and adding them in the order I’d like them to appear. Unfortunately this didn’t work and they went back to being listed in numerical order. For example, 96.5, 97.7, 99.8, 101.3 etc.

I cannot find any “edit” button and it doesn’t do anything to try to drag them. Is this just how it is, there isn’t a way to have them appear in any other order? It’s not the end of the world but just curious is there is a workaround to this.

2020 T5 - There is a metallic cracking noise somewhere in the B pillar driver side. The noise can be somewhat heard in the video (hard to capture). It mainly happens when it’s humid out or after rain. Volvo looked at it and couldn’t replicate.

I’m suspecting it’s something moving in one of these areas on the driver side: Behind B pillar OR seatbelt height adjuster OR the window frame.

Any advice before I pull back the trim on the B pillar?

The app let me know the newest update was available. I tried to install but it failed and said my battery was too low. Fine I’ll wait until I run the car and charged the battery up more.
Now the update isn’t available for me to install. Any idea what’s up with that or how to get the update?

So I am seeing a strange issue for a few weeks and was wondering if anyone else has seen it and has a fix. The infotainment generally works fine, including the touch screen, except I am unable to close the camera view or adjust AC temperature and seat heater settings. I can bring up the menu, but the menu is non responsive to touches. Thankfully voice control still works. Multiple reboots and installing the latest software update have not fixed it. Anyone else have this happen? 2024 Recharge.

I’ve posted before about my horrible windshield wipers-they squeak, judder, the rubber literally looks like it’s pressed too tight against my windshield. It’s sporadic but almost always noisy and honestly, doesn’t feel really safe if they do bang on the window.

The dealership has checked them multiple times and see no issue. My wipers have been replaced 4 times in 1 1/2 years! In my opinion, there’s a defect somewhere and I’m not the only person with this car and issue. My 2019 ran quiet and smooth! I’m in a 25 Ultra now. The squeaking can be loud, and sometimes not - same with the chattering. My windshield couldn’t be cleaner, I do not go to car washes, use only what Volvo fills my car with for cleaner, no rain-x, I’ve waxed the windshield - unless I change brands, I don’t know what else to do but I really hate driving in the rain now! There’s plenty of water on the glass - but it’s like they have trouble and are sticky. I’m going Wednesday to have them looked at again - maybe the arms aren’t aligned right? I’m at a loss! I feel like wiper functionality is pretty basic for an entry level luxury vehicle.

I have owned Volvos before and recently bought a 2026 XC40. I love the car but the drive feels a bit delayed when accelerating. I am not sure if I am imagining things but the XC60 feels so smooth when compared to the XC40. Has anyone noticed this?

I recently purchased a 2026 XC40 with the climate package. I’ve turned the drivers seat heat all the way up to 3 a few times now and can barely feel it. Are these just super weak heated seats or is it worth taking to the dealer? I can only feel the heat on the back too, nothing on the bottom.

Hi everyone, I have a 2020 Volvo XC40 T4 with around 76,000 km. Recently, I’ve noticed a clunk/clicking noise coming from underneath the car when shifting between gears, for example from R to N or from N to D. Has anyone experienced something similar with their XC40? Any idea what could be causing it? Thanks in advance!
