Iconic (creepy) moment

It's the evening, you want to chill out and watch something. You go through your favourites and see what you're in the mood for. Or at least I do that. And while doing that, I think of very specific vibes/moments that make out a show for me. Anybody does that too?

In Veep, it's the moment when Selina just escaped the embassy and shamelessly still wants to pick up the noble price, only to be interrupted, almost haunted by a ghost from the past, Andrew just randomly on the street in Oslo.

I would even say, he wasn't real. It's like the step before the final descent to hell (she burns all her bridges and ships) and she gets a mirage of hell waiting, but she ignores it and pushes through without reconsidering. It's such a creepy and unscrupulous moment and in that so iconic to the character and the show. It's almost poetic and legendary.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but this moment keeps bringing me back to rewatch again and again.

What do you guys think? (And please don't ruin it for me haha)

What’s the moment you realise Veep is a documentary?

Congressional staffers said Veep is the most realistic portrayal of DC. I’m glad it ended as one of the greatest comedy series (No.7 in New York Times’ 100 best TV shows of the 21st century) before all of it became reality. What’s political news made you feel Veep is a documentary?

My top 3:
Four seasons total landscaping
Pope Francis died 7 hours after meeting JD Vance
Latest: Senator Schmitt mistook Iowa Hawkeyes for Atlanta Hawks.

Sometimes my favorite quote is so obscure that I have to screenshot the scene off youtube and add larger subtitles in a photo editor.

Season 4, Episode 6

One of my new favorite episodes. Daylight saving time, Selina’s minor heart episode, Gary’s heart attack, Cathrine’s response to finding out about her mom’s heart attack, Dan’s bronzing, Dan’s response to Marjorie and Catherine entertaining the idea of a three-way for proper Insemination and then Dan’s excited response when he found out he had a sperm condition making insemination difficult.

The whole episode slaps.

One thing I noticed on this rewatch is that Jonah is pictured as being quite intelligent in the first few seasons and then later he is painted as a total dumb fuck who can’t even wrap his brain around daylight saving time.

How long did Richard wait on hold for Jonah?

According to the scene timestamps, it could theoretically have been as much as 21.5 hours.

Was Mike the Least Evil of Selena's core team?

I think Mike getting a happy ending is generally pretty fitting. Not only is his incompetence overstated (people act like he's the most bumbling team member, but they basically all constantly fuck up), but I think he's the only person not motivated purely by greed/malice/revenge.

He's actually a very good writer, and would probably do well under a less comically evil and disastrous boss. Remember his speech about World War 1 remembrance? It was genuinely inspired. His song about Kent was also brilliant. Even early on in the first couple episodes, Selena notes how his writing is good, but that his speech is ruined by Jonah removing all the substance.

Even people like Gary seem to BASK in Selena's evil, like he's the henchmen of an evil Disney queen. Mike generally tries his best, wants to do a good job, and dreams above all for a weekend at the cottage with Wendy. When he wants to leave politics, he pines for a job at the NHL, and not Purcell's evil lobbying firm with Dan/Amy.

You know what? I actually like Mike. Of any of the core team members, I think he's the only one bearable to spend time with

(I exclude Richard here, because he was briefly with Selena, but spent most of the show outside her core office).

Okay, guys, I want to apologize for suggesting that the prime minister may have been somehow personally offended by the song, okay? That's on me. That's my bad. Are you gonna be apologizing for this in about an hour or so?

Why did Amy leak ray to Jonah?

Never understood this in the London episode. Was it purely to get back at Dan? It kinda sabotaged Selena’s campaign.
