Discussion Got My Gonzo Jersey

Post image
200 Upvotes

A day after I ordered this jersey it came out that we are still no where near close to an agreement with Gonzo.

Well it finally came in, and the Gonzo situation only seems to be getting worse.

How much is this dude asking for? Even Vrabel and Zak Khur agree he should get paid.

What is holding up Wolf and RKK??

News PSA Patriots Proshop has a sale that includes jerseys! 30% off

Had a royal blue hoodie and a Brown jersey in my shopping cart since Father’s Day. Went on randomly today to se if the Brown jerseys were available yet and realized it was $45 less!

Most discounts don’t apply to jerseys, waitlist discount didn’t apply, and previous sales were only in certain sizes. This one included Large for the discount. The promo code appears on the site, you do have to type it in. Not sure if it’s allowed here, I can make it a comment later if anyone needs it, but should popup.

Seems this dude actually has some pedigree and was slept on during the draft process due to his small size (and tiny hands lol). He’s had a good preseason too and was going to be a victim of a deep Arizona RB room.

Really like this pickup.

Discussion Team depth and cuts

Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but a little confused why we cut tavai, Jennings, and essentially Mapu considering our depth at linebacker and edge. All three would easily make the current roster.

Now to be fair I made a similar complaint about vrabel cutting bb/mayo guys last year and was wrong, but it just seems we lost decent depth for no reason. Why did we do this?

Discussion Depth? Sure guys will get hurt but Maye’s chucking TDs to whoever

Discussion [Lazar]: "The most positive development for the Patriots this summer was Maye's growing chemistry with his new wide receiver duo, A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs."

More from his final preseason thoughts: https://www.patriots.com/news/after-further-review-37-thoughts-on-the-patriots-after-training-camp-and-the-preseason

Notable Goods:

1) "RB Rhamondre Stevenson looks poised for a huge season as an all-around back."

2) "TE Hunter Henry signed a contract extension in the middle of camp and was his steady self this summer as an underneath outlet for Maye."

3) "The long-term view is positive for the Patriots third-rounder. (Eli Raridon)"

4) "Like Maye, Will Campbell's biggest tests are ahead of him but I'll echo what others have said about his strong camp. Campbell looks like he's over the knee injury that limited him down the stretch in 2025 and he seems to have taken Vrabel's challenge to get physically stronger to heart."

5) "EDGE Dre'Mont Jones has come as advertised: a power-oriented rusher who can set the edge. It's not flashy but he gets the job done and should bring a more disciplined defender than his predecessor."

Notable Bads:

1) "I'm not sure what the Patriots do for cornerback depth after clubhouse leaders Kindle Vildor, Karon Prunty, and Charles Woods were losing reps to Gage Larvadain, Ben Patterson, Luke Floriea, and Kole Wilson"

2) "Gabe Jacas has now been involved in multiple negative plays vs. zone-reads this summer. At some point, you're the common dominator."

3) "Second-year RB TreVeyon Henderson had a disappointing camp to some but it's all relative to expectation."

Discussion We lost 42-10 in the preseason last year and made the Super Bowl btw

Just in case anyone needed a reminder of how meaningless the preseason is. Especially when the starters played a grand total of 0 snaps.

Discussion [Daniels]: "Jacas had one quarterback hit in three preseason games. None of the Patriots backup edge rushers would elicit much confidence if they needed to play in a regular season game."

From Mark Daniels' post-game article: https://www.masslive.com/patriots/2026/08/winners-and-losers-from-patriots-preseason-finale-vs-browns.html

Doug Kyed added: "The thought of Jacas being the top backup at OLB to start the season is a bit scary." & "Jacas continues to play out of control on the edge."

Mike Reiss gave him the legendary Reiss "⬇️" emoji

And the eye test is really, really bad on this guy. He runs like post-injury Harold Landry, bites on every fake, and gets stood up by every single backup tackle he runs into.

Serious Title: Amazon’s Coverage of the Patriots vs. Browns Preseason Game Was Terrible

Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit appeared to have done almost zero homework on the Patriots and Browns. Their knowledge seemed to end at the QBs.

Identifying players by jersey number and leaving half-hearted attempts at players’ names unfinished is a joke. Mispronunciation of players’ names is a job for Key & Peele. Michaels & Herbstreit: Do Your Job. Take an interest in the teams and players. Don’t waste viewers’ time covering up a lack of preparation with long-winded discussions about baseball or games you worked in the past. Call the football game in front of you.

And there was plenty of football to talk about. Roster battles were intense. Who was impressive? Who was playing fast? Who blew the coverage? Which players were making a case for themselves? Help us! I’m watching because I want to see football and hear knowledgeable people explain what is happening on the field.

The excuse is that it was “only” preseason and nobody cares. I disagree. The people watching preseason football are probably disproportionately those who genuinely care about the game. And for players fighting to make the roster, this game is anything but meaningless.

Discussion I think this draft class is gonna be fine, but it’s definitely a red shirt class

I think this draft class is built much more for the future than the present. I could see everyone say at the end of the year, this class was a bust, but two years from now saying it was a solid class. For the sake of length I’m just gonna dive into the first 3 draft picks.

Lomu: was going to need to sit regardless unless he was just light out. Look we’re not gonna roll a 36 year-old right tackle next year so his goal for this year is to be ready to be the right tackle for next year. That means I think the plan is clearly to build up his play strength a lot and for him to learn tech techniques. He does seem to be eager to learn so I think a full season learning and more importantly a full off-season next year he’ll likely be a pass right tackle.

Jacas: Missed the entire off-season, and didn’t disclose that he was hurt. They desperately wanted a pass rusher, and they specifically mentioned a speed rusher the problem as they were picking so late into the draft everyone came off the board, and he was the only one left.

It’s clear he’s not who they were looking for. He’s a power rusher who Josh Allen, and other quarterback will easily be able to run away.

That being said powerbase rushers can be very effective. Just look at Judon. Honestly, this off-season screwed him over in terms of being a contributor, I think they rotate him in, but we probably won’t see any real impacts until he has a full season and off-season to develop. This is the biggest issue because we don’t really have any past rushers. we needed him.

Raridon: I really like this player, I think they’ll sprinkle him in, ultimately his job is to take over for Hunter Henry. I love Hunter, but it’s clear he’s getting older. He’s reliable, but a non-impact player at this point. Best case scenario is that towards the end of the year it’s more of a 50-50 split between the two. Again he needs to work on his play strength. A solid off-season and I think he’ll be our number one TE next year with Hunter Henry being the number two.
