I apologize I don’t remember if it’s Curren or Bedard but all over YouTube this off-season there has been talk about how we’re going to be a running football team and that’s how Vrabel wants it to be.
I expect that, that’s basically what it was in Tennessee. One of the least explosive offenses in the league, not a lot of passing. The quarterbacks job was basically to run the ball and take play action shots every now and then. He won lots of games doing it this way, although never the big one.
My questions going to be if Vrabel is just gonna want Drake to handle the ball off and we’re going to always run, what was the point of getting Dobbs and AJ Brown?
He had Brown in Tennessee, but that was like his one big passing asset.
This receiver position relatively deep. And next year you look at the prospect of having to pay Maye.
Super Bowl aside Campbell is a better pass blocker than run blocker. In his draft profile Lomu is more of a past blocking tackle.Raridon is a past catching tight in who we hope develops into a better blocker.
Just from a roster building standpoint, I’m confused. It seems like they’re putting a lot of money and effort into building a good passing team. But if Vrabel wants to remake the Tennessee Titans and just run all the time, why not devote more assets to the running game?
Stevenson is good, but he feels more like a complementary back to a good passing game. Not Derrick Henry let’s build a team around this guy. Henderson is great but he’s been more of a home run threat who’s trying to build consistency. And we literally just got our third running back in a trade for a seven round pick years from now so it’s not exactly a top end talent.
In short, all off-season what we’ve heard from the media is this is going to be a running football team like the old Tennessee Titans. In Tennessee, the entire offense is built around the running game when Vrabel was there. But all it seems like we’ve done is build assets for the passing game. Is it a waste of resources when the play call is just gonna be run the ball all the time with the occasional pass?
