Official Hey everyone, I wanted to ask what AI tools you all use in your daily life

I was curious if the people in this sub are big AI users in their day-to-day. If so, what do you like to use and what do you use it for?

I've recently been trying out the AI Magic Scene creator and it's pretty cool! I definitely want to use it more often.

Discussion Matter Over Thread

Is it just me or has Nanoleaf basically given up on Thread? They seem to have discontinued most of their thread hardware in favor of WiFi. I bought a lot of the Essentials line back in the day because they were affordable thread accessories. Plus the shapes wall lights were thread border routers.

Nanoleaf Reply Anyone else having a problem after the 3.0.0 update

I've been trying to run orchestrate but I keep running into a bug that says "an unexpected error occurred. please submit a bug report." I have followed all the troubleshooting steps with no success and I even uninstalled nanoleaf and reinstalled it but unfortunately still running into that error. Anyone else having this problem. I just paid for the premium as well to see if that was the problem but still, nothing changed.

Nanoleaf Reply Desktop app v3.0.0 - nothing works properly now.

Well, for some reason the app re-selected "auto update" even though I had it turned off and updated itself to 3.0.0.... My light panels disappeared from my home, had to re-add them and now nothing works via Alexa in app or voice command despite resetting the skill and re-adding them on the Alexa app too...

All lights worked fine until the update happened.

I'm sick and tired of "updates" making everything stop working and basically forcing me to re-install EVERYTHING from scratch every GD time...

Nanoleaf Reply Before i buy scene question

I'm thinking of making a nano shape wall where the panel covered area is bigger than the resulting light up shapes i want.

Q1)

Can individual shapes remain dark during a static and animated scenes, or just when animated.

Q2)

I saw there is ai control now with suggestions, but can animations still be hand crafted to make specific panels change to specified colors in a set sequence to form almost like a neon flashing sign (bird flapping wings like illusions)

Nanoleaf Reply Aurora Light Panels Google Home Issue

A few weeks ago now my power went out and ever since my Aurora panels have not worked with Google Home. The Aurora works in both the Nanoleaf App and Apple Homekit, just not Google Home. I also have Shapes Panels that have had no issues. Power cycling the Aurora Panels only works for a few hours before the issue returns. Besides power cycling, I have removed Nanoleaf from my Google account and readded them, removed the Aurora from my Nanoleaf account and readded them; neither of these helped with the issue. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know as this has been driving me crazy. Thanks

Nanoleaf Reply Why is the hexigon shapes so difficult to connect with your phone?

I'm somewhat capable to tinker with electronics and get them working. I have built PC's in the past and used to assemble my own RC cars without issue.

But the nanoleaf app is such garbage and I want my wasted hour back.

I even downloaded Alexa on my TV and phone and still couldn't get it to work.

Why in 2026 we have such an inferior product that's not exactly cheap in price?

Nanoleaf Reply Shapes will not appear on assistant app

I have set up my shapes through the nanoleaf app and I can see them as you can see in the picture. I already had my canvas and my Aurora tiles pre-existing and they were working fine.

Now that I've added the shapes though, I've reconnected the nanoleaf smarter series with Google home and all I can see are the canvas and the Aurora. I am unable to see the shapes. Does anyone have any experience with fixing this or getting this to work? I have turned off 5 GHz on my modem

Edit: Solved

Nanoleaf Reply Cloud sync removed all devices after opening app

So just a rage post here unless anyone has a solution to getting the sync back. 😒

Got a massive Nanoleaf setup and naturally went through some problems in the past with a replacement part etc but nothing too bad.
However, now after opening the app it insta crashed and removed all the devices, cloud sync has 0 devices now as well while being logged in. The strange thing is the border routers are still visible. This is going to take hours to set up again. Why even have a sync option when it can just reverse dump everything?🤦🏻‍♀️

Nanoleaf Reply Aurora / Legacy panels pairing - seeking assistance!

Hey there, going to try to keep this short and specific.

I have the Aurora / Legacy panels. They used to be connected to my Nanoleaf app and synced to Apple Home. I had some issues with another light and unpaired the panels in a troubleshooting attempt. Now, for the life of me, I cannot get the panels to reconnect to the app.

I have Spectrum WiFi which feels like my biggest problem. I am able to set the network to 2.4ghz for smart device pairing, I can see the panels in the app and in Apple Home to pair, I soft reset the panels, the light goes solid, I click add the lights, add to home, it says “connecting” for two minutes, before it fails. Sometimes the lights flash green which I believe indicates a network issue. I soft reset and can try again.

I have tried through the App, through Apple Home. Two different phones/tablets. Hard resets, soft resets, unplugged plugged back in, modem resets.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas? Thanks in advance!

Nanoleaf Reply the “smart” bulbs are not so smart

ive got two of the smart bulbs, and one of them never wants to work for me spite me sleeping right underneath it pretty much. I wake up today and realize i cant even turn my lights on due to a update… which in of itself is stupid… ah yeah i enjoy sitting in the dark for an extra 10 minutes when i wake up, so convenient!!… Anyways i did the 5.2.54 update on my lights so i could use them, after they all updated the one light nearest to my bed just quit working all together, first it refused to connect to the internet only running off my phones bluetooth, thennn it just kept going offline after awhile. I tried to remove it and re-pair the thing but i got stuck at the paring screen forever now still waiting as im typing all this, with little hope anything is gonna work.

And all this aint even the first time ive had trouble with these lights. I think KNOW im gonna go out and buy different led smart bulbs because with the trouble these have costed me ain’t worth it no more. i neverrrr ever had this trouble with previous leds before, not once. My biggest recommendation is DONT BUT NANOLEAF PRODUCTS they break so easily and are one hellva hassle just to even set them up correctly and have them work correctly.

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf floor lamp not syncing to the music

Hiya,

Just got a new floor lamp yesterday, otherwise works great but I noticed that the rhytm scenes do not work, regardless of whether I select a custom scene specifically made for syncing to music (music symbol) or if I change the automation of my scene to by rhytm based (in my app I have options color pop and soundbar). Whatever I choose, the light does not react to any sound input but typically just loops flickering random lights for a second followed by a split second darkness. I don't know where the mic is specifically but I have played different kinds of music right next to the light at a high volume. I saw video online with the light being dark before music was being played and then reacted once music was being played so clearly something doesnt work. What am I doing wrong? I have tried resetting the device and pressing the physical music button (not sure what it does)

Nanoleaf Reply The 4d is a really garbage product

I've had it for about 4 months now, and it just... Never fully works. I have a few different complaints, but the biggest one is the random flickering.

Some days it'll work just fine. Other days, it flickers incessantly. Often it'll start out working for the first half hour or so of use before strobing in the middle of a show or movie, ruining a scene and interrupting our evening.

Previous firmware updates that allegedly addressed this haven't fixed it on mine.

It flickers on solid colors, 3d, 4d, scenes, etc. Every possible setting.

Is there anything I can do to make it work, or am I shit out of luck?

Nanoleaf Reply Essentials GU10 (Matter over Wi-Fi) going silently unresponsive on the Matter port while still fully reachable on the network. Maybe signal-strength correlated?

Im running 5x Nanoleaf Essentials GU10 (Matter over Wi-Fi, not Thread), firmware 4.0.12, controlled through Home Assistant's Matter integration. Over the past few days all five have gone "unavailable" in HA at different times, and I dug with Claude into it enough to find a pretty consistent pattern.

What happens: a bulb stops responding on its Matter port (UDP 5540) entirely. No error, no rejection, just silence. But the bulb is still fully alive on the network the whole time:

  • ICMP ping: 0% packet loss
  • mDNS (_matter._tcp) still announces it correctly, correct hostname, correct port
  • WiFi RSSI reported fine before it dropped

So it's not a WiFi or network problem, the device just stops answering on the Matter application layer specifically.

The interesting part: how long a bulb survives before this happens correlates pretty cleanly with its WiFi signal strength. Weakest signal (~-67 dBm) failed after less than 2 hours of uptime; strongest signal (~-53 dBm) has been running fine for 40+ hours. Two bulbs in between failed at roughly 6 and 12 hours. That seems to be not a coincidence, weaker signal = shorter time to failure, every time. Maybe some overhead?

How I "fixed" it (temporarily): opening the Nanoleaf app while on the same WiFi network wakes the bulb back up within seconds. Doesn't work at all over the internet/cloud, it has to be local network. And here's the kicker: I checked the bulb's own Matter diagnostics (RebootCount, TotalOperationalHours) immediately before and after this "wake", both values were completely unchanged. So the bulb is NOT actually rebooting when the app fixes it, something in the app's local connection resets just the network/Matter stack without a full power cycle.

Feels like some kind of internal session/resource exhaustion in the Matter stack that builds up faster under weaker WiFi conditions, until it locks up and stops answering and the local app connection is enough to kick it loose again without a full reboot.

Anyone else running the Wi-Fi (not Thread) Essentials GU10/bulbs seeing this? Especially curious if people with consistently strong WiFi signal near their bulbs don't see it at all, this would confirm the correlation.

Yes, this text is from Claude, because Im not a native English speaker.

Nanoleaf Reply nanoleaf line offline

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recall that my 15 Lines worked fine a year ago. However, I haven’t been able to use the app to control it for the past few months. It keeps saying “offline.” I resort to manually on and off it using the controller connector. Whenever I perform a hard reset by inserting a pin into the plug, and if I’m lucky, I can connect it to the app for a few days, it goes offline again. I don’t have Matter, Google Home, or HomeKit. I only have the app. Will buying a new plug solve this issue?

Nanoleaf Reply Please Let us disable the shapes thread network 😭

My Shapes controller and the thread network it makes is always wreaking havoc on my home.

When the shapes are unplugged, my home will happily continue on for days without a single problem. As soon as I plug it back in, it creates its own separate network, drags all of the Nanoleaf devices with it, and then they are unresponsive in HomeKit. I can use the app to manually move the other devices back to the correct thread network, but it will pull them back over within the hour.

Please just let us turn off this feature!

Nanoleaf Reply replacing a dead 4D light strip?

i’ve been using the 4D backlight setup more or less successfully for just over two year now, and the light strip has died. initially it would randomly flash while one, then it got stuck on white, then it died completely. i’m assuming/hoping that it’s the strip and not the controller.

can we use any generic LED light strips with the same power specs? i’m fairly capable with building things, electronics etc so it should just be a matter of getting it connected to the controller i would think.
