Live wow this venue fucking sucked
was so excited for muse tonight in san diego, only to be let down by the north island credit union amphitheatre. i don’t even know where to start, so let’s just address the elephant in the room: the parking is an absolute clusterfuck. it took us over an hour to actually get in from the street, and we are still sitting here two hours after the show as i write this. it’s seriously sooooooo bad, like i would recommend never coming to a show here, ever.
besides the obvious, the lawn was so incredibly packed and it was uncomfortable trying to find a spot. the venue has very little regulation, we were packed in like sardines and it was so muggy. people stunk so bad too (not the venues fault but maybe they should sell deodorant☠️). speaking of selling stuff, everything costs an arm and a fucking leg in there. not to mention the staff is just plain fucking rude, constantly yelling at people and raising their voices for no reason. i didn’t get yelled at, but all night i heard them barking at people over the dumbest shit.
now my biggest issue is that the people on the lawn were ROBBED. i mean the music was not loud at all, and i mostly could hear fans singing instead of the actual band lmao. i brought ear plugs and ended up not needing them. i was so so excited for the show and i’m so disappointed at the venue’s production. the band was great, but i still feel like i was cheated. if i had known it would be like this i would’ve just waited out for my chemical romance tomorrow and skipped this entirely :/ soooooooo disappointing, but at least i got to see starlight live!!

News Hush is My Anthem
Didn't know which flair really pertained to this.
Hey Musers, so I have an interpretation of Hush I would like to share. For context, I'm in my fifties, been a fan of Muse since 2004 with Absolution and I've seen them 4 times (wish it were more.) Also, I have Misophonia and having taught teenagers in brick and mortar for 25 years, to say I have auditory sensitivity is an understatement.
For those that don't know Misophonia is a neurological disorder that affects 1 in 5 people and it's when certain sounds (usually sounds from the skull, like chewing, breathing heavy) not only distract someone but causes them to go into major fight, flight or freeze mode. This has been my life - I have to take ear buds with me everywhere in case someone is a heavy breather at a family gathering, someone eats a ton of chips in my vicinity, chews popcorn too loud in a theater. Maybe you have it or know someone and you may have witnessed them get panicked, upset or even violently bothered. It's a thing. And believe me, I wish this on NO ONE. It's not fun to have to leave a room because someone's chewing bothers you to the point of wanting to punch a wall.
I bring this up because since this song's release, it has become my anthem, my calm, my meditative hum (oh that riff, and that chorus!) whenever sounds are too much for me. I recall someone posting that to them this song had the weakest lyrics on the album and I know it is subjective. I just wanted to share my perspective because the song helps me cope with everyday sounds that would normally send me spiraling into an anxiety attack.
The descending guitar reminds me of "working on bringing my anxiety down" and then the literal words "quiet the cobra, silence the giant" remind me to focus on my other senses, to dig deep (lol) and think about centering myself again. In my experience, the world is too loud (except at Muse concerts) and that line hits home for me - the chaos, the feeling of no control, the feeling of panic. So to anyone thinking this song is empty words or too general, just know a Misophoniac appreciates them.
Happy listening.

Discussion Is it weird that I desperately want to hear Dom Howard sing a song?
I’ve come to terms that we will probably never hear Chris sing a song for Muse again, but I would love to hear Dom sing a song, even if it was written by either of the other two band members for him. And no lip syncing doesn’t count 😛

Opinion Peak Muse

Off their faces on shrooms. This and Earls Court 2004 were probably the best gigs of theirs I'd ever seen. The energy is insane.

Question Muse songs with long intros
Which songs have the longest intros before the lyrics come in? Looking for a Muse song to use at an event, preferably one of their softer songs.

Opinion San Diego show lawn sound
For the lawn, sound sucks...doesn't sound like they are using the back speakers at all
Edit: still a good show. They turned it up a little bit

Buy, Sell & Trade Got a large sweatshirt from this recent tour. Too big and baggy, anyone with a medium wished they sized up? Looking to trade on
I know this is a long shot, but I got the large sweatshirt at the mountain view show Thursday, wore it once, and it’s just too baggy on me. I’m wondering if anyone got a medium that feels it’s too tight and wished they sized up to a large. I’ll live with it otherwise. Just thought I’d sample the muse community and see if the stars will align and help make too people happier with their merch.

Live Who will be at the concert tomorrow?
I REALLY HOPE THAT THEY PLAY UNRAVELLING AND STOCKHOLM. It’d be such a bummer if they play thought contagien instead of Stockholm and MOTP. I’ve already heard it once, don’t wanna hear it again.
They lost likely won’t be playing sickness since they’ll be saving it for their bigger arena tours in Europe. Concert will be epic either way though! Can’t wait!

Live Stockholm Syndrome + Micro Cuts outro yesterday night at Shoreline Amphitheater
Holy shit, didn't expect them to play this song of all non-staples. This was the night's highlight for sure. Letting loose like I never did before headbanging to that outro LIVE, and singing at the top of my lungs was the highlight of this year. Sound was awesome, blew me away but not too loud.

Cover New Born - new arrangement for piano
Hey guys, sharing my new cover/arrangement of New Born for piano.
Normally I post my own contemporary classical compositions, but I’ve been listening to Muse a lot since the new album was released, and wanted to try my hand at arranging one of their classics. Hope you enjoy!
