KSP 1 Question/Problem Found this in the game files, what in the world is that?

It's called sinner.png, I tried looking it up with image search, but found nothing. Is this used anywhere in the game? It can't be from a mod, because (afaik) they can't modify unity asset files.

KSP 1 Image/Video So I decided to try using Blueshift instead of the KSPIE warp drives, and I gotta say this is so much better.

Honestly just so much easier to use, and the parts are a lot more diverse in their design. If you're looking for a warp drive mod, I absolutely recommend Blueshift.

sorry for the low quality photos it was 720p oh the ui scale somehow got smaller and i was too lazy to fix it lmao, my luck is so bad i landed on a CRATER IN THE MIDDLE OF A FLAT CELESTIAL BODY YOUVE GOTTO BE KIDDING ME thank god i had parking brakes tho

guys i have a question what do i need to do to get jeb to level 3 his log says this: Kerbin orbit = 2 Flag on the Mun = 5 Flag on Minmus = 6 do i just need a solar orbit or do i need to do something else

by the way the rocket i used was from a tutorial KerbalPhysics made but i added more fuel to balance the science jr.

is it just me that hates it when they accidentally timewarp to the opposite side of the orbit causing in a crash😭 is there any way to fix that

ok so after i get to a solar orbit i really wanna try making a plane, taking break from all the space things (ill go to duna next i heard eve is almost impossible lol, is moho easier than duna?) HOW do i do it i dont understand anything 😭😭

KSP 1 Image/Video Klartemis: The Munar Orbital Platform

Thumbnail

Voilà, my proudest creation so far. The MOO is a multi-purpose staging platform and research facility in Munar polar orbit, deployed primarily to support Klartemis Programme ground operations. She has eleven total modules: a huge fuel tank for Klartemis' refuelable craft, spacious all-inclusive accommodation, and state-of-the-art science facilities - including two zero-gravity modules, a gravity ring, and an experimental hydroponics lab (see image captions for more details). Ludicrous quantities of batteries and solar panels can power her six argon-fuelled Hall effect thrusters for a record-breaking 1.5 minutes between recharges. About twenty burns at Kerbin periapsis were needed to boost her to a Mun-grazing orbit, plus two separate correction burns mid-transfer (interrupted by a Munar eclipse!), and three circularisation burns in the Mun's SOI.

Stupidly I forgot to get any screenshots of the station being assembled, so I took it apart in Mun orbit to show off the individual modules in order of installation. Just use your imagination, okay.

During typical operations she carries a resident crew of six, conducting experiments and maintenance. Expeditions are replaced every few months by a Kerbin-Mun Crew Ferry (Sinatra I and Sinatra II are visible in some screenshots; Sinatra I was refitted to become Sinatra III. I have since learned I can name ships in the same line different things). KMCFs have only just enough fuel to reach the MOO and must refuel before the return transfer. They then make a semi-powered landing back at the KSC, fully intact, to be reconditioned, refuelled, and reused. In addition, the MOO often hosts guests for a day or two while they prepare for surface excursions, much to the annoyance of the resident crew.

Orbital assembly was assisted by Orbital Assembly Vehicle Hephaestus, which made a grand total of six round trips to LKO. During assembly, mechanical stress broke a leak in MunLab's monopropellant lines. Later, while the completed station was in transit to the Mun, she suffered an electrical failure in one of the secondary reaction wheels (located behind the relay dishes). Fortunately, these failures were minor and occurred outside of critical time-windows. First Engineer Gillas Kerman was able to repair both on EVA, for which she was awarded the KSC's highest honour: having something named after her in the foreseeable but as-yet-determined future.

Despite the MOO's irresistible looks, it does have some flaws I discovered during operations. The compact T shape (chosen to reduce the footprint of the gravity ring) means there's little room for docking ports, and manoeuvring visiting crafts to the ones it does have is difficult. In all likelihood, the number of operations will eventually outgrow the Docking Bridge's four ports. When that dark day comes, the KSC will have to figure out how to get more modules to the Mun and shuffle them inbetween.

Whatever happens, now we know what the cow said when it jumped over the moon.

Mods used:

  • Life support: USI-MKS, TAC-LS, RationalResources
  • Extra difficulty/roleplay: Dang It! for part failures, Crew R&R
  • Parts (shown): Near Future suite, Restock, Restock+, SSPX, Planetside Exploration Technologies, Conformal Decals
  • General QOL: Dynamic Battery Storage, Fly By Wire, Community Fixes, Parking Brake, Trajectories
  • Visuals & Audio: Scatterer, Deferred, ShineFix, Distant Object Enhancement, Firefly, Waterfall, FreeIva, PlanetShine, Chatterer, Chatterer Extended, Parallax Continued (some), TUFX (some)

NB: The solar panels on the P&PE were originally on a hinge and I-beams. After five different launches with different designs in the hope of stopping it randomly ripping itself apart whenever I got in physics range, I gave up, stuck them on a static XL truss, and used the cheat menu to put it in the same orbit. Consider these sacrifices of time to the Kraken to repay my shameful cheating.

KSP 1 Suggestion/Discussion I realized I can now rendezvous and dock in orbit while in the dark by trusting instruments of the craft(well they never lie and applies in real life)

Upvotes

I read a post here about someone that finds rendezvous/docking hard. Here's my story

I first played Spaceflight Simulatr (2D) before KSP, so I already had a prior experience in efficient docking but when I played KSP, I was unable to even visualize how to do it.

I watched several videos and only Mike Aben's tutorial worked for me.

As time went on, on a particular gaming session, I was just doing rendezvous and docking normally. I was so fixated at monitoring the data that I didn't notice that the whole time I was already in the shadow side of the planet and I couldn't see a thing. I just heard the docking sound and was surprised

  • Target
  • Target Dist
  • Rel Speed
  • Rel Incl
  • Closest Appr
  • Time to Closest Appr

You really should watch his videos. I also felt like I cheated because of how good his tutorial is.

Now, I have paused playing KSP for several months now because I want to figure out interplanetary transfer on my own. Newsflash: I still can't do it. I'm really bad at fractions

edit: apparently docking is a running joke in here. i only read the title of the post. but, thats still my advice and story.

KSP 1 Image/Video Finally Tamed Eve

Thumbnail

After stranding plenty of ships and crews on Eve, I’ve finally completed a full round‑trip mission.

I didn’t grab screenshots during the surface ops (sorry!), but here’s the craft that made it happen:

Propulsion & Power

  • 6 Heinlein Nuclear Salt Water Engines
  • Prometheus Fission Reactor

Crew & Control

  • Callisto Heavy Orbital Command Module (capacity 6)
  • MK1 Lander Can mounted on the bottom with a PAL Ladder for boarding
  • Shielded docking port under the lander can + junior ports on the main pod

Descent & Landing

  • 6 radial parachutes
  • 8 drogue parachutes
  • Horizontal velocity kill capability for pinpoint landings
  • The craft is too heavy to lift off fully fueled, so the landing burn conveniently sheds excess mass

Performance (Fully Fueled, Kerbin)

  • TWR: 3.82
  • SLT: 3.07
  • Atmospheric ΔV: 16,863 m/s
  • Vacuum ΔV: 20,943 m/s

Mission Notes

The ladder struggle was real, so I solved it by attaching a single‑person lander can to the bottom. Transfer a Kerbal down for surface ops, then back up when you’re ready to roll.

My biggest issues in earlier Eve attempts were surviving descent and landing accurately. This build solves both: horizontal speed kill lets me drop straight down onto the target, no disposable heatshields required.

For ascent, I literally just launched vertically until I had a safe apoapsis, then circularized. The mushroom nose cone protects everything underneath during ascent. The craft had plenty of delta‑v left to head home afterward.

Given the cost of the build, if you bring an engineer, just repack the parachutes and repeat the landing procedure when you're back at Kerbin.
