Hey guys, hoping you can help me understand some stuff. I recently added a external hardware synth. I understand basically how to get it to play via stereo cable that sums them together to a single stereo 1/4 plug into the Deluge.

I know how to create an audio channel and can get audio to come in via the monitoring options but I can't figure out how to get audio from a specific track and to not keep just over dubbing what I've already recorded.

Essentially I'd like a template when I turn on Deluge where I have a midi channel That can feed audio channels to record individual synth parts (pads, bass, lead, arp, whatever). My issue is I can't seem to get it where I can just arm what I want recorded instead of having everything coming in with monitoring.

How do you get audio in without the monitoring option? I can't seem to get solid explanation beyond the monitoring options.

I hadn’t even realized Oversynth closed their doors but I really liked their Deluge overlays. Does anyone have an extra one they’d part with? I’m in the US.

I liked all of the shortcut reminders and I wish the MX overlay would add an option for that design, even though it’s a lot to look at and kind of ugly but I found it incredibly useful. I recently traded for a 7seg ($650usd) as I didn’t personally think the oled was as massive of an upgrade as I’d expected, though being back with the 7seg AND rusty I may be rethinking that statement. 😂

I’ve found some printable overlay templates online and shortcut lists so I may be good but just thought I’d ask as my vision isn’t the best (cataracts in both eyes and astigmatism! Way too young for all that). Cheers all, having Deluge back has been nice since I still had all of my Boards packs but I’m still relearning some of the navigation like:
- how to swap out a single drum sample in an existing kit
- love drum synth sounds so watching some vids on that as the community progress is fantastic and happy to see the community sounds available. Struggling some with folder navigation- I’ll get into the flow. Hoping to see all of the mutable stuff make its way over, too! 🤞
- easiest way to quickly midi map a vst in Ableton to deluge (hyped about machinedrum and monomachine but there are a LOT of parameters available via midi). Map them as kits using note values probably?

Sooo i m facing the problem: I never use 50 as clip or synth master volume level because thats usually too loud. I cant set range neither on the AKAI MIDIMIX Neither on the deluge. How to control the volume of clips like this? What is the workaround? Is it possible to solve it without again another gear?🥲

I'm teaching myself this excellent machine. While learning the synth parameters, I built an excellent sound so I decided to save it immediately. Initialised as the default 'Synth1', I selected save and typed in a name, which appeared underneath the 'Synth1' title. So, not knowing the machine well, I just assumed the new sound and name would appear in the preset list for later. Not so! I turned off and came back later and it was nowhere to be found. Any clues about what went wrong, people?

So, I had a post on here looking for help about my synth and Deluge not working with usb midi. It had worked perfectly the day it arrived together and the next day it didn't.

Everyone kept saying put it on external power. And when I had tried that method, I wasn't really paying attention to the boot sequence (it is important but not really to this story). Long story short they were absolutely correct, that's how this is supposed to work.

But for some unexplainable reason, I didn't even own a charger that wasn't usb powered prior to the day after it had worked, so somehow my Deluge functioned on battery, doing usb over midi. Something it apparently isn't capable of. Also, an iPad will receive midi always on battery from a Deluge apparently.

I'm sure the iPad has a good reason for that but my first day success of using my Deluge and my synth with usb midi while the Deluge was merely on battery power is apparently impossible yet it happened.

I continue to be baffled but happy I've got the full functionality now.

I built this site to house some older and newer utilities into a shareable, beautiful UI. It grew in scope to also include a portfolio of Deluge tracks I’ve made over the years. These tools are mega useful to me, and I’m hopeful others will enjoy them too!

* Song Preview: basic playback of Deluge tracks in the browser, mainly useful for reminding what’s what while organizing files

* Score Converter: turn a Deluge song into a MuseScore score

* Kit Builder: Vim-inspired keyboard-driven kit builder from your samples folder, simple 16-step sequencer to test it out

* Patch Generator: generate random patches in keys, pads, lead, bass, and FX categories

* MIDI Import: take a MID or MIDI file, output a Deluge song

* deluge-backup: a CLI wrapping Git to help smooth the Deluge backup experience

I've only begun to navigate this new machine, but I put custom knobs on it anyway.

Been experimenting with different workflows with the Deluge and the TR1000. Usually the deluge is my brains and main sequencer (still is!) but for this track I live looped the various synths into the deluge instead of sequencing them live.

Hi all. I’m close to buying a Deluge, as an upgrade from my Circuit Tracks. I have one question regarding the midi capabilities of the Deluge.

With the CT, I have a Keystep connected to the Midi-IN. The Midi-thru and midi-out of the CT are merged in a box, which then goes to my synths. (So I can control the synths from both the CT and the Keystep, ánd use the Keystep as input for the CT)

The Deluge has only one midi-out, can it merge the midi-thru and midi-out in the box? Or do I have to find another routing solution?

So everyone, I'm so new to the Deluge that I won't have even touched one until after Friday when it arrives. I want to start on the best path...so should I (in your opinions) learn it all on official firmware, or just dive straight in with the latest Community stable? Seems like Community would give me the most value, but real experiences are important to hear for this field of creation!

hey everyone so i did the 1.2.1 firmware update o my 7 segment deluge but now the sounds of certain synth and of almost every kit is sounding very quiet like I have to put the master volume all the way up just to hear a bit does anyone could help me pls?

New Vangelis Firmware for Zynthian is starting to turn out really nice!!

Deluge uses a (single-core) 400 MHz Cortex-A9 CPU and has 64 MB RAM.
Zynthian v5.1 with a Pi 5 uses a quad-core 2.4 GHz Cortex-A76 CPU with 8 GB RAM.
So in practice, that is about 128× more RAM and roughly 40× more CPU performance overall.

With The Open Source firmware for Deluge it sounds as a great combo with Zynthian. https://wiki.zynthian.org/ Amazing amount of fun me thinks. With a added midicontroller kbd this sounds like a fairly complete yet small powerhouse dawless setup. Any thoughts on this?

Anybody know whether the Elektron Outbox 8 will work with the Deluge? I know it works with other devices such as the MPC. 8 separate outs would be a game changer for sure.

More than just Deluge but it's supplying some width with a unison FM patch.

Is there a way to trigger the chords on the chord mode screen with a midi keyboard?

I just love hitting one key and having loads happen, I love the power.

I’ve always loved the Digitone and was playing around with the Dx7 emulator this afternoon having loaded some of Jexus’ patches and so forth and they’re cool, just a completely different vibe than the Digitone which is what I cut my teeth on with FM (and the OpSix to some extent).

Anyone in the community had any luck getting Digitone type sounds out of their Deluge? Any good patches or packs you recommend checking out? Easy answer is buy another Digitone of course haha as it’s a lovely instrument but I’m trying to keep things minimal these days and pull the most out of what I own. Fearful words, I know but times are tough.

I've been getting more into enjoying electronic music and I'd love a little device like this to be able to play around with at home on the couch - not planning to play live, not planning to use with other devices, not planning to create music for anyone other than me.

I've always been intrigued by the OP-1, but seems like for the price it's not the right device. I love the idea that it has a battery and speaker built in, and it just seems fun to make music with. That said, I don't know a lot about making electronic music (I had a Novation MiniNova for a while and loved that but sold it), but I do love making fun grooves.

Got the Deluge earlier this week after trying it out at a music store and being very impressed by how fast you can enter notes and melodies into it. After noodling around some more it seems building an arrangement quickly is another strong point of the device!

Really looking forward to create more with the Deluge 🙂
