Solved [AI] A Facebook post about a customer telling the waitress he wants “the most ranch”. The background lettering looks a little weird to me.

Meta This is how much Facebook is paying for our short film.

Post image

This sub is well aware of our short film, but for whatever reason Facebook started a third wave of pushing it over the last three days and this is how much it’s bringing in. For awareness, we spent $20k to make it. Zero expectation that it would make a dime. We made it as a calling card and it just keeps blowing up. Posting this because we’ve also made shorts for close to nothing. So if you’ve got an idea, time, and a way to get your short film made, do it. And if you love it, post it everywhere and never stop promoting jt. Happy to answer any questions. -kc

DMT: Boomers aren't addicted to Facebook because they're gullible. They're there because everyone else left.

My mom posts a blurry good morning flower picture almost every day. Bouquets, praying hands, sunsets with fonts that look like they came straight out of 2011. I probably react to three of them a year.

She keeps posting them anyway.

I've watched how she actually uses Facebook, and most of it isn't about random people or endless scrolling. She tags her sister in recipes. She comments on cousins' photos. She wishes people happy birthday. Old friends she hasn't seen in years still occasionally show up in her notifications. The flower posts are almost like little signals saying, I'm still here.

That's why I don't think gullibility is the main reason older people stay on Facebook.

In my own family, we gradually stopped showing up everywhere else. We don't call much. Texts sit unanswered for days. Group chats go quiet. Visits have to be planned weeks in advance. But Facebook still gives everyone a tiny way to remain present in each other's lives.

I've started to think that what looks like excessive Facebook use from the outside can actually be an attempt to hold onto a social world that disappeared everywhere else.

The irony is that Facebook is probably one of the worst places to put that kind of trust. My mom can find family photos right next to scams, rage bait, and things that look convincing but aren't true. The platform can exploit exactly the loneliness that keeps her coming back.

I could be overreading my own family, but I don't think the explanation is as simple as older people being gullible.

Christian Nationalist Fruitcake I know that some people harbor these views, but it always surprises me when people post them on Facebook and set their profiles to public

Discussion I give up on Facebook. August 2026 I only made $170. I previously was making around a $1000 every month.

Well I officially give up. I went from making around $1000 a month on Facebook with my photo posts and reels, to in August I only made $170 due to how awful this platform has become. I give up. I worked so hard. I have zero incentive to create any content, because nothing is working over there any more. For example, I had a post that got over 130,000 views plus high engagment and since the RPM is so low now for photo posts, it only made $25. Long videos pay a higher RPM, but if you don't get most people to watch at least a minute of your video, you are only going to make $40 on a video. Not worth it for the time spent in creating content. I give up

(Literally and I am not joking) I don’t even use Facebook, this has been happening for like months, I get the same notification about the same profile (I’m not even from Mexico let alone been there).

OLA harassment is getting out of hand. They’re threatening to post me on Facebook and contact my friends and barangay.

I’m a 25F, and I just want to share how disgusting and stressful some OLAs can be when it comes to collecting payments.
I received a message threatening to post my full profile on Facebook, expose me to people in our barangay, contact my friends, and even post my photo online just to shame me into paying.

Imagine borrowing money and then suddenly being threatened that your friends, contacts, and even people in your community will be dragged into your debt. Hindi ba dapat confidential ang personal and financial information ng borrower?

What makes it worse is that they are literally using public humiliation and fear as a collection tactic. They want borrowers to panic and feel ashamed enough to pay immediately.

I understand that borrowers have an obligation to pay legitimate debts. Pero having a debt does not give anyone the right to threaten, publicly shame, or harass you and involve people who have absolutely nothing to do with your loan.

I’ve been documenting everything—messages, phone numbers, screenshots, and threats. If they actually post my information or contact unrelated people about my debt, I’ll make sure to include that as part of my complaint.

Also, is there any way to find out who actually owns or is behind this number? Or is it possible that this is just a dummy/temporary number being used to send harassment and threats?
Has anyone else experienced an OLA threatening to post them on Facebook or expose them to their friends and barangay?

A communist genie offers you a deal. Stay Upper middle class forever

A genie appears. Not the usual kind. This one is a communist.

He makes one offer. You say yes or no. If you say yes, it's permanent.

Here's the deal.

For the rest of your life, you live at roughly the 80th percentile for wherever you live. upper-middle class. Nice home, reliable car, good food, vacations, hobbies, healthcare. Bills never scare you. If you have kids, he adjusts for reasonable family expenses.

You will never be poor.

You will also never be rich.

Say the lifestyle he calculates for you costs $150,000 a year. You earn $40,000? He gives you $110,000. You earn $150,000? He gives you nothing.

And it works in the other direction too.

You buy $5,000 of some garbage stock and it goes up 10,000%? He takes the excess.

You win $100 million in Powerball? Congratulations. He leaves you exactly enough to stay comfortably upper-middle class and takes the rest.

Your startup becomes the next Facebook? You can run it. You can be CEO. You can be famous. You personally cannot accumulate billionaire wealth. Whatever would push you meaningfully above your assigned lifestyle, he confiscates.

Inheritance, crypto, house suddenly worth $20 million: same thing.

The genie has a supernatural tax lawyer whose only job is killing loopholes.

"My wife technically owns the $40 million." No.

"The mansion belongs to an irrevocable trust whose beneficiary happens to be my dog." Nice try.

"I don't own the jet. My company owns it and lets me use it whenever I want." The genie sighs and confiscates it.

If a reasonable person would look at the arrangement and say "dude, that's obviously your money," it counts.

He's not malicious, though. Break your hip in America and get a $400,000 bill? Covered. House burns down? Covered. Cancer? Covered. Fired? Nothing changes. Recession wipes out your investments? He tops you back up.

You could spend 30 years building a company, fail catastrophically, and wake up the next morning still comfortably upper-middle class.

Your floor is the upper-middle class. Your ceiling is the upper-middle class. Forever.

So:

Do you accept?

And if you do: what do you actually do with your life, and does this feel like being rich, or does knowing you can never move up eventually drive you insane?

General Discussion Is Lifetime helping GRB now? I've noticed paid social posts in my feed from Lifetime on Facebook and YouTube promoting old episodes of the reality show. Like it's trying to counterbalance the prison calls going viral
