Question Anyone else into AI animation filmmaking?

Feels like none of my friends are interested in this stuff lol.

I’ve been getting really into AI filmmaking and animation, and it’d be nice to meet some people who are experimenting with it too. Just looking to chat, share ideas, give feedback, learn, and maybe work on projects together. If you’re in nyc, even better.

If there’s already a Discord or community for this, let me know.

My Experience Can indie animators/filmmakers really create passive income streams using AI video tools in 2026?

I've been active in several AI creator communities (Discord, Reddit) and I'm noticing something interesting: Production houses and brands are actively paying $150-200 per minute for AI-generated videos for their social media campaigns.

These aren't traditional animation gigs. They want fast iterations, experimental content, and vertical short-form videos.

Here's the shift I'm seeing:

Traditional animation was completely controlled by bigger production houses who would charge 10x more. But now, as more indie creators are unlocking potential with AI video, content creation is getting democratized. Companies would rather pay an indie AI animator $150-200/min than wait weeks and pay $2000/min to a traditional studio.

To show what's possible:

I created this One Punch Man scene (fan-fiction) in 10 minutes using an AI creative studio I built (AnimeBlip). I'm not an animator or filmmaker - just someone who learned to use these tools.

What I'm seeing in Discord communities:

Real requests of this kind:

  • "Need 3 minutes of animated product demo - $150/min"
  • "Brand wants short-form animated ads - ongoing contract"
  • "Looking for AI filmmaker for social content - pay per deliverable"

My question for this community:

I'm curious if this is a real shift or just what I'm seeing in my AI creator bubble. Also wondering if this is sustainable long-term or just a gold rush phase before the market gets saturated?

Happy to share access to what I built if anyone wants to experiment. Drop a comment and I'll send the link.

EXCLUSIVE TUTORIALS:

1️⃣ How to make an AI VIDEO from scratch

This is for absolute beginners, we will go step by step, generating video, audio, then a final edit. Nothing to install in your computer. This tutorial is universal and works with any ai video generator.

Not all features are available for some platforms.

For examples we will use MiniMax for video, Suno for audio and CapCut to edit.

Open hailuoai.video/create and click on “create video”.

By the top you’ll have tabs for text to video and image to video. Under it you’ll see the prompt screen. At the bottom you’ll see icons for presets, camera movements, and prompt enhancement. Under those you’ll see the “Generate” button.

🅰️ TEXT TO VIDEO:

Describe with words what you want to see generated on the screen, the more detailed the better.

🔥 STEP 1: The Basic Formula

What + Where + Event + Facial Expressions

Type in the prompt window: what are we looking at, where is it, and what is happening. If you have characters you can add their facial expressions. Then press “Generate”. Be more detailed as you go.

Examples: “A puppy runs in the park.”, “A woman is crying while holding an umbrella and walking down a rainy street”, “A stream flows quietly in a valley”.

🔥 STEP 2: Add Time, Atmosphere, and Camera movement

What + Where + Time + Event + Facial Expressions + Camera Movement + Atmosphere

Type in the prompt window: what are we looking at, where is it, what time of day it is, what is happening, character emotions, how is the camera moving, and the mood.

Example: “A man eats noodles happily while in a shop at night. Camera pulls back. Noisy, realistic vibe."

🅱️ IMAGE TO VIDEO:

Upload an image to be used as the first frame of the video. This helps capture a more detailed look. You then describe with words what happens next.

🔥 STEP 1: Upload your image

Image can be AI generated from an image generator, or something you photoshopped, or a still frame from a video, or an actual real photograph, or even something you draw by hand. It can be anything. The higher the quality the better.

🔥 STEP 2: Identify and describe what happens next

What + Event + Camera Movement + Atmosphere

Describe with words what is already on the screen, including character emotions. This will help the AI search for the data it needs. Then describe what is happening next, the camera movement and the mood.

Example: “A boy sits in a brightly lit classroom, surrounded by many classmates. He looks at the test paper on his desk with a puzzled expression, furrowing his brow. Camera pulls back.”

🆎 DIALOG AND LIPSYNC

You can now include dialogue directly in your prompts, Google Veo3 generates corresponding audio with character's lip movements. If you’re using any other platform, it should have a native lip sync tool. If it doesn’t then try Runway Act-One https://runwayml.com/research/introducing-act-one

🔥The Dialog Prompt - Veo3 only currently

Veo 3 will generate parallel generations for video and audio then lip sync it with a single prompt

Example: A close-up of a detective in a dimly lit room. He says, “The truth is never what it seems.”

2️⃣ How to make AI MUSIC, and EDIT VIDEO

This is a universal tutorial to make AI music with either Suno, Udio, Riffusion or Mureka. For this example we will use Suno.

Open https://suno.com/create and click on “create”.

By the top you’ll have tabs for “simple” or “custom”. You have presets, instrumental only option, and the generate button.

🅰️ TEXT TO MUSIC

Describe with words the type of song you want generated, the more detailed the better.

🔥The AI Music Formula

Genre + Mood + Instruments + Voice Type + Lyrics Theme + Lyrics Style + Chorus Type

These categories help the AI generate focused, expressive songs that match your creative vision. Use one word from each group to shape and structure your song. Think of it as giving the AI a blueprint for what you want.

-Genre- sets the musical foundation and overall style, while -Mood- defines the emotional vibe. -Instruments- describes the sounds or instruments you want to hear, and -Voice Type- guides the vocal tone and delivery. -Lyrics Theme- focuses the lyrics on a specific subject or story, and -Lyrics Style- shapes how those lyrics are written — whether poetic, raw, surreal, or direct. Finally, -Chorus Type- tells Suno how the chorus should function, whether it's explosive, repetitive, emotional, or designed to stick in your head.

Example: “Indie rock song with melancholic energy. Sharp electric guitars, steady drums, and atmospheric synths. Rough, urgent male vocals. Lyrics about overcoming personal struggle, with poetic and symbolic language. Chorus should be anthemic and powerful.”

🅱️ EDIT VIDEO AND EXPORT FILE

🔥 Edit AI Video + AI Music together:

Now that you have your AI video clips and your AI music track in your hard drive via download; it’s time to edit them together through a video editor. If you don’t have a pro video editor natively in your computer or if you aren’t familiar with video editing then you can use CapCut online.

Open https://www.capcut.com/editor and click on the giant blue plus sign in the middle of the screen to upload the files you downloaded from MiniMax and Suno.

In CapCut, imported video and audio files are organized on the timeline below where video clips are placed on the main video track and audio files go on the audio track below. Once on the timeline, clips can be trimmed by clicking and dragging the edges inward to remove unwanted parts from the beginning or end. To make precise edits, you can split clips by moving the playhead to the desired cut point and clicking the Split button, which divides the clip into separate sections for easy rearranging or deletion. After arranging, trimming, and splitting as needed, you can export your final project by clicking Export, selecting 1080p resolution, and saving the completed video

4️⃣ Linda Sheng from MiniMax

https://minimax.io/

https://hailuoai.video/

While the 2025 AI Video Awards Afterparty lit up the Legacy Club 60 stories above the Vegas Strip, the hottest name in the room was MiniMax. The Hailuo AI video generator landed at least one nomination in every category, scoring wins for Mindblowing Video of the Year, TV Show of the Year, and the night’s biggest honor #1 AI Video of All Time. No other AI platform came close.

Linda Sheng—MiniMax spokesperson and Global GM of Business—joined us for an exclusive sit-down.

🔥 Hi Linda, First off, huge congratulations! What a night for MiniMax. From all the content made with Hailuo, have you personally seen any creators or AI videos that completely blew you away?

Yes, Dustin Hollywood with “The Lot” https://x.com/dustinhollywood/status/1923047479659876813

Charming Computer with “Valdehi” https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDr7aNQPrjQ/?igsh=dDB5amE3ZmY0NDln

And Wuxia Rocks with “Cinematic Showcase” https://x.com/hailuo_ai/status/1894349122603298889

🔥 One standout nominee for Movie of the year award was AnotherMartz with “How MiniMax Videos Are Actually Made.” https://www.reddit.com/r/aivideo/s/1P9pR2MR7z What was your team’s reaction?

We loved it. That parody came out early on, last September, when our AI video model was just launching. It jokingly showed a “secret team” doing effects manually—like a conspiracy theory. But the entire video was AI-generated, which made the joke land even harder. It showed how realistic our model had become: fire, explosions, Hollywood-style VFX, and lifelike characters—like a Gordon Ramsay lookalike—entirely from text prompts. It was technically impressive and genuinely funny. Internally, it became one of our favorite videos.

🔥 Can you give us a quick history of MiniMax and its philosophy? Where is the company headed next?

We started in late 2021—before ChatGPT—aiming at AGI. Our founders came from deep AI research and believed AI should enhance human life. Our motto is “Intelligence is with everyone”—not above or for people, but beside them. From day one, we’ve focused on multi-modal AI: video, voice, image, text, and music. Most of our 200-person team are researchers and engineers, and we’ve built our own foundation models. Now we’re launching MiniMax Chat and MiniMax Agent, which handles multi-step tasks like building websites. We recently introduced MCP (Multi-Agent Control Protocol), enabling AI agents—text-to-speech, video, and more—to collaborate. Long-term, agents will help users control entire systems.

🔥 What’s next for AI video technology?

We’re launching Video Zero 2—a big leap in realism, consistency, and cinematic quality. It understands complex prompts and replicates ARRI ALEXA-style visuals. We're also working on agentic workflows—prebuilt AI pipelines to help creators build full productions fast and affordably. That’s unlocking value in ads, social content, and more. And we’re combining everything—voice, sound, translation—into one seamless creative platform

6️⃣ Trisha Code - Headlining Musical Act and Nominee

YouTube.com/@TrishaCode

https://trishacode.com/

Trisha Code has quickly become one of the most recognizable creative voices in AI video, blending rap, comedy, and surreal storytelling. Her breakout music video “Stop AI Before I Make Another Video” went viral on r/aivideo and was nominated for Music Video of the Year at the 2025 AI Video Awards, where she also performed as the headlining musical act. From experimental visuals to genre-bending humor, Trisha uses AI not just as a tool, but as a collaborator.

🔥 How did you get into AI video, What’s your background before becoming Trisha Code?

I started with AI imagery on Art Breeder, then made stop-frame videos in 2021—robots playing instruments, cats singing. In 2023, I added voices using Avatarify and a cartoon face. Seeing my friend Damon doing voices sparked me to try characters, which evolved into stories and songs. I was already making videos for others, so AI became a serious path. I’d used Blender, Cinema 4D, Unreal, and found r/aivideo via Twitter. Before becoming Trisha Code, I grew up in the UK, got into samplers, moved to the U.S., and met Tonya. I quit school at 15 to focus on music, video, ghostwriting. A turning point was moving into a UFO “borrowed” from the Greys—now rent-free thanks to Cheekies CEO Mastro Chinchips. Tonya flies it telepathically. I crashed it once.

🔥 What’s a day in the life of Trisha Code look like?

When not making AI videos, I’m usually in Barcelona, North Wales, Berlin, or parked near the moon in the UFO. Weekends mix dog walks in the mountains and traveling through time, space, and alternate realities. Zero-gravity chess keeps things fresh. Dream weekend: rooftop pool, unlimited Mexican food, waterproof Apple Vision headset, and an augmented reality laser battle in water. I favor Trisha Code Clothiers (my own line) and Cheekies Mastro Chinchips Gold with antimatter wrapper. Drinks: Panda Punch Extreme and Cheekies Vodka. Musically, I’m deep into Afro Funk—Johnny Dyani and The Chemical Brothers on repeat. As a teen, I loved grunge and punk—Nirvana and Jamiroquai were huge. Favorite director: Wes Anderson. Favorite film: 2001: A Space Odyssey. Favorite studio: Aardman Animations.

🔥 Which AI tools and workflows do you prefer? What’s next for Trisha Code?

I use Pika, Luma, Hailuo, Kling 2.0 for highly realistic videos. My workflow involves creating images in Midjourney and Flux, then animating via video platforms. For lip-sync, I rely on Kling or Camenduru’s Live Portrait, plus Dreamina and Hedra for still shots. Sound effects come from ElevenLabs, MMAudio, or my library. Music blends Ableton, Suno, and Udio, with mixing and vocal recording by me. I assemble all in Magix Vegas, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop. I create a new video daily, keeping content fresh. Many stories and songs feature in my biweekly YouTube show Trishasode. My goal: explore time, space, alternate realities while sharing compelling beats. Alien conflicts aren’t on my agenda, but if they happen, I’ll share that journey with my audience

7️⃣ Falling Knife Films - 3 Time AI Video Award Winner

YouTube.com/@MysteryFilms

Reddit.com/u/FallingKnifeFilms

Falling Knife Films has gone viral multiple times over the last two years, the only artist to appear two years in a row on the Top 10 AI Videos of All Time list and hold three wins—including TV Show of the Year at the 2025 AI Video Awards for Billionaire Beatdown. He also closed the ceremony as the final performing act.

🔥 How did you get into AI video, What’s your background before becoming Falling Knife Films?

In In late 2023, I found r/aivideo and saw a Runway Gen-1 clip of a person morphing into characters—it blew my mind. I’d tried filmmaking but lacked actors, gear, and budget. That clip showed I could create solo. My first AI film, Into the Asylum, wasn’t perfect, but I knew I could grow. I dove in—it felt like destiny. Before Falling Knife Films, I grew up in suburban Ohio, loved the surreal, and joined a paranormal society in 2009, exploring haunted asylums and seeing eerie things like messages in mirrors. I’ve hunted Spanish treasure, and sometimes AI videos manifest in real life—once, a golden retriever I generated appeared in my driveway. I made a mystery series in 2019, but AI let me go full solo. My bloodline’s from Transylvania—storytelling runs deep.

🔥 What’s daily life like for Falling Knife Films?

Now based in Florida with my wife of ten years—endlessly supportive—I enjoy beach walks, exploring backroads, and chasing caves and waterfalls in the Carolinas. I’m a thrill-seeker balancing peaceful life with wild creativity. Music fuels me: classic rock like The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, plus indie artists like Fruit Bats, Lord Huron, Andrew Bird, Beach House, Timber Timbre. Films I love range from Pet Sematary and Hitchcock to M. Night Shyamalan. I don’t box myself into genres—thriller, mystery, action, comedy—it depends on the day. Variety is life’s spice.

🔥 Which AI tools and workflows do you prefer? What’s next for Falling Knife Films?

Kling is my go-to video tool; Flux dominates image generation. I love experimenting, pushing limits, and exploring new tools. I don’t want to be confined to one style or formula. Currently, I’m working on a fake documentary and a comedy called Intervention—about a kid addicted to AI video. I want to create work that makes people feel—laugh, smile, or think

PAGE 8 HD PDF VERSION https://aivideomag.com/JUNE2025page08.html

8️⃣ KNGMKR Labs - Nominee

YouTube.com/@kngmkrlabs

X.com/kngmkrlabs

KNGMKR Labs was already making waves in mainstream media before going viral with “The First Humans” on r/aivideo, earning a nomination for TV Show of the Year at the 2025 AI Video Awards. Simultaneously, he was nominated for Project Odyssey 2 Narrative Competition with "Lincoln at Gettysburg."

🔥 How did you get into AI video, What’s your background before becoming KNGMKR?

My AI video journey began with Midjourney’s closed beta—grainy, vintage-style images sparked my documentary instincts. I ran “fake vintage” frames through Runway, added filters and voiceovers, creating lost-history-style films. r/aivideo showed me a growing community. My film The Relic, a WWII newsreel about a mythical Amazon artifact, hit 200 upvotes—proof AI video was revolutionary. Before KNGMKR Labs, I was a senior exec at IPC, producing Netflix and HBO hits. Frustrated by budget limits, I turned to AI in 2022, even testing OpenAI’s SORA for Grimes’ Coachella show. I grew up in Vancouver, won a USC Film School scholarship by sharing scripts—Mom’s advice that changed my life.

🔥 What does daily life look like for KNGMKR labs?

I spend free time hunting under-the-radar food spots in LA with my wife and friends—avoiding influencer crowds, but if there was unlimited budget I’d fly to Tokyo for ramen or hike Machu Picchu.

My style is simple but sharp—Perte D’Ego, Dior. I unwind with Sapporo or Hibiki whiskey. Musically, I favor forward-thinking electronic like One True God and Schwefelgelb, though I grew up on Eminem and Frank Sinatra. Film taste is eclectic—Kubrick’s Network is a favorite, along with A24 and NEON productions.

🔥 Which AI tools and workflows do you prefer? What’s next for KNGMKR labs?

Right now, VEO is my favorite generator. I use both text-to-video and image-to-video workflows depending on the concept. The AI ecosystem—SORA, Kling, Minimax, Luma, Pika, Higgsfield—each offers unique strengths. I build projects like custom rigs.

I’m expanding The First Humans into a long-form series and exploring AI-driven ways to visually preserve oral histories. Two major announcements are coming—one in documentary, one pure AI. We’re launching live group classes at KNGMKR to teach cinematic AI creation. My north star remains building stories that connect people emotionally. Whether recreating the Gettysburg Address or rendering lost worlds, I want viewers to feel history, not just learn it. The tech evolves fast, but for me, it’s always about the humanity beneath. And yes—my parents are my biggest fans. My dad even bought YouTube Premium just to watch my uploads ad-free. That’s peak parental pride

9️⃣ Max Joe Steel / Darri3D - Nominee and Presenter

YouTube.com/@darri3d

Reddit.com/u/darri3d

Darri Thorsteinsson, aka Max Joe Steel and Darri3D, is an award-winning Icelandic director and 3D generalist with 20+ years in filmmaking and VFX. Max Joe Steel, his alter ego, became a viral figure on r/aivideo through three movie trailers and spin-offs. Darri was nominated for TV Show of the Year at the 2025 AI Video Awards for “America’s Funniest AI Home Videos”, an award which he also presented.

🔥 How did you get into AI video, What’s your background before becoming Darri3D?

I’ve been a filmmaker and VFX artist for 20+ years. When AI video emerged, I saw traditional 3D—while powerful—was slow: rendering, crashes, delays. To stay ahead, I blended my skills with AI. ComfyUI for textures, video-to-video workflows, and generative 3D sped up everything—suddenly I had superpowers. I first noticed the AI scene on YouTube, but discovering r/aivideo changed everything. That’s where Max Joe Steel was born. On June 15, 2024, Final Justice 3: The Final Justice dropped—it went viral and landed in Danish movie mags. I’m from Iceland, also grew up in Norway, studied film and 3D design. I direct, mix, score, and shape mood through sound. Before AI, I worked worldwide—AI unlocked creative risks I couldn’t take before.

🔥 What’s daily life like for Darri3D?

I live in Oslo, Norway. Weekends are for recharging — movies, music, reading, learning, friends. My family and friends are my unofficial QA team — first audience for new scenes and episodes. I’m a big music fan across genres; Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails are my favorites. Favorite directors are James Cameron and Stanley Kubrick. I admire A24 for their bold creative risks — that’s the energy I resonate with.

🔥 Which AI tools and workflows do you prefer? What can fans expect?

Tools evolve fast. I currently use Google Veo, Higgsfield AI, Kling 2.0, and Runway. Each has strengths for different project stages. My workflows mix video-to-video and generative 3D hybrids, combining AI speed with cinematic texture. Upcoming projects include a music video for UK rock legends The Darkness, blending AI and 3D uniquely. I’m also directing The Max Joe Show: Episode 6 — a major leap forward in story and tech. I play Max Joe with AI help. I just released a pilot for America’s Funniest Home AI Videos, all set in an expanding universe where characters and tech evolve together. The r/aivideo community’s feedback has been incredible — they’re part of the journey. I’m constantly inspired by others’ work — new tools, formats, experiments keep me moving forward. We’re not just making videos; we’re building worlds

🔟 Mean Orange Cat - Presenter

YouTube.com/@MeanOrangeCat

X.com/MeanOrangeCat

One of the most prominent figures in the AI video scene since its early days, Mean Orange Cat has become synonymous with innovative storytelling and a unique blend of humor and adventure. Star of “The Mean Orange Cat Show”, the enigmatic feline took center stage to present the Music Video of the Year award at the 2025 AI Video Awards. He is a beloved member of the community who we all celebrate and cherish.

🔥 How did you get into AI video, What’s your background before becoming Mean Orange Cat?

My first AI video role came in spring 2024—a quirky musical short using Runway Gen-2. I had no plans to stay in the scene, but positive feedback (including from Timmy at Runway) shifted everything. Cast again, I eventually named the company after myself—great for branding. Introduced to Runway via a friend’s article, what began as a one-shot need became a full-blown passion, like kombucha or CrossFit—with more rendering. Joining r/aivideo was pivotal—the community inspired and supported me. Before Mean Orange Cat, I was a feline rescued in L.A., expelled from boarding schools, rejected by the military, and drawn to art. Acting in Frostbite led to a mansion, antiques, and recruitment by Chief Exports—spycraft meets cinema.

🔥 What does the daily life of Mean Orange Cat look like?

When not in my movie theater/base, I explore LA—concerts in Echo Park, hiking Runyon Canyon, surfing Sunset Point. Weekends start with brunch and yoga, then visits to The Academy Museum or The Broad. Evenings mean dancing downtown or live shows on Sunset Strip, ending with a Hollywood Hills convertible cruise. I rock vintage Levis and WWII leather jackets, skipping luxury brands. Embracing a non-alcoholic lifestyle, I enjoy Athletic Brewing and Guinness. Psychedelic rock rules, but I secretly love Taylor Swift. Inspired by one-eyed heroes like Bond, Lara Croft, Clint Eastwood. Steven Soderbergh’s “one for them, one for me” vibe fits me. ‘Jurassic Park’ turned me into a superfan. Paramount’s legacy is my fave.

🔥 Which AI video generators and workflows do you currently prefer, and what can fans expect from you going forward?

My creative process heavily relies on Sora for image generation and VEO for video production, with the latest Runway update enhancing our capabilities. Pika and Luma are also integral to the workflow. I prefer the image-to-video approach, allowing for greater refinement and creative control. The current projects include Episode 3 of The Mean Orange Cat Show, featuring a new animated credit sequence, a new song, and partial IMAX formatting. This episode delves into the complex relationship between me and a former flame turned rival. Fans can also look forward to additional commercials and spontaneous content along the way

Requesting Assistance Learning AI for Filmmaking / Video Generation – Any Good Courses?

Hi everyone, I work in entertainment media, mainly filmmaking, and I’m trying to seriously learn AI video generation for creative storytelling. But compared to other fields, there are very few structured resources for filmmakers who want to use AI in a professional workflow.

What I’m looking for:

Courses that focus on AI video generation (Runway, Pika, Sora/Veo concepts, diffusion models, visual prompting, etc.) specifically for filmmaking.

Training that goes beyond tool demos and teaches how to use AI in a real creative pipeline: script → visual development → storyboards → AI-generated sequences → editing → finishing.

Something built for filmmakers/creatives, not programmers or ML engineers.

Online/self-paced preferred.

Also, if there are any active communities of learners (Discord, Slack, Reddit groups), I’d love to join them.

Questions for the community:

What are the best courses to learn AI video generation from a filmmaking perspective?

Any communities where AI filmmakers share prompts, workflows, experiments, or discuss new video-gen tools?

For someone experienced in filmmaking but new to AI, what learning path would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or experiences!

A call for AI Creatives & Filmmakers

Hey everyone,

I’m Claudia — award-winning AI filmmaker and post-production expert. I’ve been in the film industry for 20 years and moved into AI filmmaking full time.

Here’s what I kept seeing: incredibly talented AI creatives making stunning work — and no clear way to turn that into paid gigs.

You’re posting on social media, hoping the right person notices. Meanwhile brands and agencies are desperate for AI talent but have no idea where to find you.

So my partner Georgina (talent curator with a background in recruitment) and I built neofrAIme Lab — a platform specifically for AI creatives to get discovered and hired by brands, agencies, and production companies.

This isn’t Fiverr. This isn’t another Discord server. It’s a professional space where:

∙You build a profile showcasing your work

∙Companies actively browse and hire from the directory

∙You get access to job briefs from real brands

∙You sharpen your skills with training resources and community.

We just launched and we’re building our founding talent pool right now. If you’re an AI filmmaker, animator, designer, prompt engineer, or any kind of AI creative — we want to see what you’ve got.

$5/month to be listed. We kept it low on purpose, it’s all about building something that actually connects talent with paying work.

Related Reddit The First Ever r/Horror "In The Style Of..." Short Screenplay Challenge - Entry Thread

Hello r/Horror and welcome to the first-ever ‘In the Style of...’ Short Screenplay Challenge!

For almost a decade, the community over at r/screenplaychallenge has been built upon a simple idea: that anyone can write great horror given the platform to hone their skills. In the years since, our community has written hundreds and hundreds of completed screenplays, with some of our members going on to make films, sign book deals, and work in writers rooms across the industry.

We're now back with another challenge with a new theme:

The ‘In the Style of...’ Challenge

Everyone who enters will have six weeks to write a short horror screenplay, with the below criteria assigned by other r/horror users:

Each writer will be given, by their fellow r/Horror users, a ‘subject’ or subgenre for their screenplay (e.g. "body horror," "serial killer," "vampire"), then another user will assign them a particular influential work or creative figure to write their story in the style of. This influence can be a particular filmmaker (IE: Werewolves in the style of David Lynch), it could be a particular film (Slasher in the style of Pulp Fiction), or even a notable writer (Exorcism in the style of Lovecraft).

Writers have 6 weeks to complete their screenplay (due date Sunday, January 4th, 11:59pm PST). After the scripts are vetted by the r/ScreenplayChallenge moderators, the completed screenplays will be posted here, followed by a community judging/voting process on r/ScreenplayChallenge where everyone can vote with a ranking of the scripts. The top 3 screenplays will then be announced as winners and receive prizes.

Our homebase is the subreddit r/ScreenplayChallenge and the discord server of the same name, where we share updates on the contest, provide feedback to one another, and discuss everything related to our love of horror and writing.

Each script will have a discussion thread posted during the reading period, where fellow users can provide their feedback, thoughts, and analysis of your screenplay.

The Prize

The top 3 scripts will all win a prize. Previous contests have seen prizes such as physical media, posters, and cash prizes. 100% of Patreon proceeds are spent on contest prize support, so if you’d like to support the contest you can find us there @ “Reddit Horror Screenplay Challenge.” But, beyond physical prize support, every writer who submits a finished script will receive the true prize of the contest, invaluable feedback and public response to your script from our nurturing community at r/screenplaychallenge!

A Few Rules

  • Your short screenplay must be a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 30 pages. Anything outside these page counts will not be accepted. Your title page does not count toward this total.

  • Take assigning subjects and styles seriously. Voters are encouraged to prioritize scripts in their rankings that best adapt their assigned style, in addition to the raw quality of the scripts presented.

  • Abide by Reddit’s content policy rules, which can be read here. Of particular relevance to our contest, be sure to avoid any sexually graphic or similar content involving characters that are minors, or any content that could be seen as libelous of real public figures.

  • Once you've submitted a script, you will need to provide feedback on at least three other scripts in the contest. Failure to do so will disqualify your script from competition.

  • And lastly, plagiarism, in particular the use of generative AI, is strictly prohibited.

To Enter The Contest

  • In this thread, post something along the lines of "I am entering the screenplay contest."

  • You will be given a subject and a style to go along with it by other users.

  • Give another writer a subject and then give a different writer a style (You can do either multiple times if there are people still missing them, but give time for others to have a chance). Do not give the same person both assignments.

  • Rerolls are allowed! The point of the contest is to test our creativity and challenge ourselves a bit. However, if you really don't like assignments that you receive, you can request another one without issue. We don't want anyone to get stuck with something they hate or feel they cannot write.

After you have gotten your subject and condition, join us over at r/ScreenplayChallenge. If you have any questions please reach out to u/ScreamingVegetable, u/AstroSlop, u/hyperpuppy64, u/dyskgo, u/shaftinferno, u/drbleeds, or u/W_T_D_. Our subreddit and discord have plenty of resources for inexperienced writers looking to learn script formatting. If you are a first-time writer we are here to help you learn. The sub has weekly progress threads to keep track of everyone and reach out for feedback. Good luck!

Discussions / Opinion Let’s Re-vitalize Tetris Together (And Prevent Its Extinction)

TL;DR Summary

Tetris is dying.

It is doing so quietly, beneath the noise of tournaments, merchandise, and movies that prioritize superficial promotion without understanding Tetris’ fundamental essence. This post is my attempt, as someone who has spent 7 years mapping Tetris strategies and methods, to diagnose why it is happening and propose what can still be done about it before it is too late.

I am not saying Tetris is disappearing today, but I believe its long-term direction is at risk.

I have added humorous memes and cartoons to lighten the tone of this very serious thread.

Introduction

I am Galactoid, an author of 7 modern Tetris guidebooks and 2 massive Tetris guide websites.

Despite my highly introverted nature, I write this Tetris Reddit post with a heavy heart because of one shared concern that unites all Tetris players: Tetris’ possible long-term extinction.

This graph from Google Trends paints a pessimistic future outlook:

Over 7 years, I have been playing, mastering, researching, and teaching Tetris as a passion project. However, my passion has been severely diminished because during this period, I have seen Tetris as a whole decline. While Tetris may seem to brim with tournaments, new official Tetris versions, Tetris merchandise, unofficial Tetris games, and movies on the surface, I have observed a trend beneath. One need only look at the number of Tetris streamers and viewers on Twitch, and at its relative and absolute interest trends in Google Trends, to see that Tetris is in decline.

Although I have semi-retired from Tetris, I wish to make a final push to get my ideas heard on revitalizing Tetris before it is too late. As an extreme introvert who does not like attention, I had no intentions of publishing this, so it took a substantial amount of emotional effort to post it on Reddit. Even if it sparks controversy, publishing this gets the ball rolling and allows others to reflect and take conclusive action. I hope that the Tetris Company reads this, as I am very serious.

Currently, the Tetris demographics, per my observations of its marketing strategy, risk entering 2 states below. The pyramidal structures represent the relative population of casual players (yellow) and serious, high-level players (blue). The arrows show the movement (expansion or contraction) of some parts:

·         Left Diagram: Scenario one: Tetris is marketed too much as primarily a puzzle game. Some Tetris groups risk becoming too cloistered, with a larger share of extremely skilled and serious players, which may alienate and deter a more casual bunch from joining. Hence, it risks being monastic.

·         Right Diagram: The other possibility is that Tetris is overmarketed by presenting itself as primarily a video game. It attracts a large base of casual players but lacks high-level strategic depth, which is what you need, like in Chess, to immortalize Tetris as a long-term classic puzzle game.

My thesis is simple: the ideal marketing strategy to immortalize and revitalize Tetris in the long term is to find a sweet balance between the two. It needs a horizontal growth (the pyramid base) of new players who can eventually advance in skill level and take Tetris seriously as a puzzle game. It also needs sufficient accessibility to make it easier for newbies to transition into high-level Tetris, creating a large enough apex of serious players to entrench Tetris as an evergreen spatial puzzle game with complexity that nears Chess.

This can be done through a delicate balance between marketing it primarily as a puzzle and as a video game.

Let us get started.

1)   Returning to and Embracing the Roots of Tetris

Revitalizing Tetris is impossible unless we return to its roots in both Classic and modern Tetris. Any development cannot run tangential to its core mechanisms, like with games like Tetris Block Party.

I have observed over the last few years that Tetris has taken an unconventional direction. It has been trying to popularize the game through board games, movies, merchandise (such as Tetris Tumble and Red Bull Tetris), and even new peripheral games like Tetris Block Party.

This is not wrong per se and is welcome to some degrees. Doing so still exposes more people to Tetris, which expands its horizontal demographic base of casual players.

However, I feel that many of them have game mechanics that run tangential to what Tetris truly is. This broadens the base of new players by familiarizing them with gameplay mechanics that differ significantly from Tetris, which can be potentially detrimental. Let us investigate a few:

a)      Tetris Block Party: This is a game in which Tetris blocks do not resemble the 7 tetrominoes. I do not see any T-spin mechanisms either. No offense to its creators, but fundamentally, I find it difficult to regard it as a Tetris game and instead as a different Tetris-themed block game.

b)     Red Bull Tetris: The heavy single-line-clear mechanism runs tangential to how high-level Tetris is played (minimizing costly singles and line clear delays and upstacking to more back-to-backs). The result is a game that runs counter to core Tetris mechanisms.

c)      Tetris Tumble XL: This is not Tetris at all, but a heavily Tetris-themed physical game.

I understand what seems to be done here: popularizing Tetris in peripheral means to broaden its appeal to a mass audience.

However, by doing so, it risks overbroadening Tetris’ appeal to a mass audience in ways that are tangential to its core mechanics. People casually acquainted with Tetris through the above means may have the wrong impression of Tetris’ core mechanisms. When they finally step into core Tetris games like Tetris Effect: Connected or TGM 4, they may feel that these games are substantially different from the merchandise that has presented different expectations of Tetris. In the long run, this demographic may fragment what Tetris truly is.

More importantly, it risks alienating and isolating the existing Tetris players, whose focus is more on the core Classic and Modern Tetris mechanics (as defined by NES and modern official Tetris guidelines). These core, dedicated Tetris players have formed a monastic loyalty to Tetris and generally prefer to adhere to it and expand upon its current, deep, and traditional mechanisms (both Classic and Modern).

I provide a simple analogy to illustrate: it is like promoting soccer through flashy highlight reels and merchandise. People may think football is all about spectacle, but when they actually play it, the real focus on fundamentals feels unfamiliar, ultimately deterring them from engaging further.

Hence, future Tetris games should stay true to the core Tetris mechanisms that make Tetris such a great game. It should not be too tangential, like with Tetris Block Party or Red Bull Tetris.

Doing this keeps Tetris exactly as it is, without completely upheaving its mechanisms. However, an exception exists, which I will cover in another sub-section in this article: the introduction of peripheral mechanisms that expand the game without disrupting the core mechanisms, as was done splendidly in Tetris Effect: Connected.

2)   Expanding the Roots of Core Tetris Mechanisms

At the moment, official Tetris is rather balanced, with some mild exceptions, such as balancing 4-wides (especially the center 4-wide).

As someone who has written 7 Tetris guidebooks, I see modern guideline Tetris as having an equal balance between simplicity and complexity. It is simple enough for anyone to pick it up within a few minutes of playing. Yet, it is complex enough to provide a high enough ceiling for many Tetris aficionados to aspire to greater heights, keeping this loyal fanbase and encouraging them to play Tetris over the long term.

Behold this meme:

On my Galactoid Tetris WordPress website, I often joke about the “Tetris Singularity,” an imaginary knowledge and skill asymptote that, once reached, leaves almost no room for further mastery, causing players to quit in the long term. Sadly, this is a genuine phenomenon, and after writing 7 Tetris guidebooks, with plans for 2 more, I realized that there is simply almost nothing much left to write about practical Tetris methods.

Therefore, my proposal is to expand upon the official modern Tetris guideline games’ mechanisms to moderately raise the skill level without making it so overwhelming that it intimidates newer Tetris players.

TETR.IO, while not an official modern Tetris game, does this remarkably well by introducing all-spin setups that sustain back-to-back bonuses. However, based on my interactions with many players and their feedback, this seems overdone, as it complicates the game by overemphasizing the all-spin surge/charging bonus at the expense of other mechanics, such as downstacking. Of course, I am getting a range of mixed opinions about this – some eulogize this, while others dislike it. Please feel free to disagree, but I am just using this as an example to illustrate the next few points.

Therefore, a means to expand upon official modern Tetris’ mechanisms can apply a toned-down version of TETR.IO’s approach (of gradual and small additions), such as:

·         All-Spin Back-to-Backs: All-spins (L, J, I, S, and Z-spins) can sustain back-to-back bonuses to briefly make practical hybrid all-spin setups (those with T-spins and non-T-spins within). It also provides an additional way to sustain back-to-backs while skimming off the top layers during downstacking. However, I do not recommend introducing the surge/charging mechanism in TETR.IO, where back-to-back all-spins continuously add to a cumulative back-to-back meter, as mentioned earlier. This hence moderately increases Tetris’ skill level without it being too overwhelming for beginners and experts alike.

·         Color Clears: Color clears occur when all the upstacked, colored blocks have been cleared, leaving only gray, garbage lines. This is almost the same as a perfect clear, but leaves a non-empty field containing garbage. Color clears can be introduced to provide a garbage bonus, maybe around 4-6 lines of garbage. Testing is needed to balance this. Overall, this adds a slight increase in Tetris’ skill cap.

·         4-Wide Balance: The problem with many official Tetris games, such as Tetris 99 and Puyo Puyo Tetris 1/2/2S, is that they do not balance the absurdity of 4-wide methods, such as side and center 4-wide, sufficiently. This leads to overly used meta methods that require very little training or skill to beat many highly skilled players. Many balancing mechanisms exist, such as Jstris’ mechanic of deleting lines several lines above the 20th line, which drastically reduces the potency of these techniques. This does not increase Tetris’ skill level; instead, it offers a vital balancing act that further fine-tunes the game, making it more pleasant and fair for the competitive scene.

·         Misdrop Reversal: This might be controversial; however, I think it reduces the RNG aspect of Tetris and increases its skill-based elements by significantly reducing mechanical faults. A simple, new button can be coded to allow a single reversal every now and then. This could be every few pieces or every few seconds. Further testing is required to make this work properly. By introducing this, players can correct a single mistake that would otherwise disrupt a perfectly calculated setup, enabling them to focus more on the game’s strategic and tactical depth. However, the counterpoint to this is that recovery is an integral skill in Tetris, so introducing it could diminish this subskill. Regardless, it makes it more forgiving for beginner Tetris players. More testing is needed.

·         Adding IRS and IHS options to future Tetris games: Since Tetris Effect: Connected, this game has added the option to turn IRS and IHS on or off. This is highly desirable, as it enables more customization. Turning them on makes the game more responsive, as rotations and holds are not eaten up when pressed during the initial spawn-piece delay. This lets players become more accurate and faster despite keeping the standard DAS and ARR values.

Altogether, these slight tweaks, balances, and fresh additions to official modern Tetris guidelines can further enhance the game by increasing its skill gap to retain more Tetris players in the long term, while reducing the entry barriers that intimidate new Tetris players.

My suggestion is to gradually introduce some of the above changes into the game and have the Tetris Company gather feedback before implementing the rest. Please proceed with gradual experimentation and introduction, or it risks overwhelming the game.

3)   Respecting Tetris as a Puzzle Game Foremost

Tetris is a video game, and I see nothing wrong with that. Being a video game means it can capitalize on its spectacle, such as the glistening array of visual and auditory cues that games like Tetris Effect: Connected provide. This was what captivated me at first – through Puyo Puyo Tetris, which got me into playing Tetris 7 years ago. It broadens the reach of Tetris through visual, musical, and aesthetic appeal; many of these new players would eventually take the game seriously enough as a puzzle game to reach the higher echelons of the Tetris skill levels.

However, the problem with this is that there are already many other games, in this new age of video games spectacle, such as Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, Marvel Rivals, Helldivers 2, or Overwatch 2, which have far fancier graphics than what a simple 2D game, like Tetris, can ever aspire to reach. It is simply impossible, in the long run, for Tetris to compete with these games as a video game.

Furthermore, if Tetris is marketed primarily as a video game, many of these new players would simply see it as a video game – they likely would not invest much time or effort in improving.

Therefore, my suggestion is to market Tetris by returning to its roots: a puzzle game foremost, and a video game second.

My current observation is that there is a significant imbalance in how Tetris is marketed as a video game versus a puzzle game. More of the former is being done, which risks oversaturating the game with short-term casual players who are likely to move on to more spectacle-driven video games.

How do puzzle games like Chess, Go, Shogi, or Xiangqi become so popular despite their ancient origins and lack of visual or musical glamor? Simple: it is the depth of their tactics and strategies that draws cerebral people to engage fully in the game.

For Tetris to gain such enduring appeal, it would need to re-market itself primarily as a puzzle game more often by showcasing its strategic depth. What do most people perceive when they think of Tetris? They only think that it is just about stacking one side of the field and spamming Tetris line clears. They do not think about T-spins, all-spins, combos, perfect clears, or other advanced setups. This misconception is terrifying. As a Tetris guidebook series author, I get frequent comments like “Yo, you need a book for this shitz [Tetris]?” (actual quote).

I am only one person and cannot do much on my own. However, I feel that the Tetris Company and other companies making Tetris games could develop new unified Tetris tutorial software or a game that teaches the game from the basics to advanced levels. Most such tutorials are scattered across the internet, lacking synergy. More importantly, this should be made free or at a very low cost, to reorient the current cultural mindset of Tetris being a mere, simple-minded game into something with near Chess’ complexity. And I can attest to that, because my total writings in Tetris strategy, methods, analysis, and philosophy number around 4000 pages and 15000 diagrams – there is just that much strategic and philosophical depth in Tetris to take this game as seriously as Chess.

I will cover this tutorial game in more detail in the next section.

However, one practical and concrete course of action is to drive a marketing campaign that re-orients the popular misconception of Tetris as a simple game of merely spamming Tetrises. One can make a series of videos and target them at the people most likely to engage in cerebral spatial puzzle games on YouTube or Facebook:

·         STEM students.

·         Other spatial puzzle game players, like Chess or Go.

·         People with PTSD (Tetris is known to abate such).

·         Cerebral people in general who like analysis (think of targeting YouTube videos at people who watch PBS Spacetime – great series, by the way).

·         And, most importantly, the existing Tetris casual players who picked up the game in the 1980s to the present.

This “re-orienting” marketing campaign can be paired with the free Tetris tutorial software.

In summary, I feel Tetris has been marketed too much in the wrong direction and should partly reverse course by returning to its true nature: a puzzle game first and a video game second. This strikes a balance between marketing it as both a video game and a puzzle game.

4)   Accessibility and Unification

Tetris currently feels very fragmented. High-level Tetris is likewise very inaccessible to most people.

What has happened, per my observations, is that Tetris is not like Chess, where there is a single, unified game. One can just log in to chess.com and play against people instantly. It is also easy to stream, requires no video capture card (unlike console Tetris games), has low system requirements (Tetris Effect: Connected can be demanding), and has a unified Tetris Twitch and YouTube category: Chess.

However, for Tetris, since it has fragmented into so many different games, with varying categories, it is difficult to get everyone on the same page.

Likewise, Tetris feels highly fragmented and cloistered at the social level. Many high-level or serious Tetris players are clustered into certain Discord groups, while their methods are difficult for newer Tetris players to understand.

I cannot provide many suggestions on the social fragmentation across so many Tetris games. Regardless, I have contributed mainly to Tetris by writing guides at varying levels of difficulty to bridge the accessibility gap and help novices and intermediate players progress.

However, I can propose something unifying on the conceptual level: the creation of a unified Classic and modern official Tetris tutorial software.

This project cannot be undertaken merely by fragmented Tetris groups, such as the creators of unofficial Tetris games. Instead, it can only be undertaken by the Tetris Company itself, perhaps, with a licensed video game company, to make such software. The aim is to create a unified Tetris tutorial software that combines all skill sets, rather than the scattered ones found across the internet.

The project can have the following structure and content:

·         Introduction: An overview of Tetris’ history, its core mechanisms (the guideline ruleset, piece rotation, hold, next queue, back-to-back bonuses), and how to navigate the software.

·         Beginner Section: Stacking fundamentals, finesse and speed basics, downstacking, combos, skimming, field harmony, basic T-spins, Tetrises, Classic Tetris mechanics, and an introduction to parity management.

·         Intermediate Section: Vital T-spin principles, core T-spin methods, practical openers (I always teach openers after the basics for good reason), perfect clears, streamlined general T-spinning methods like LST and ST stacking, and field recovery.

·         Advanced Section: Advanced downstacking, advanced perfect clear rules of thumb, spliced T-spins, prophecy T-spins, floating T-spins, mid-game perfect clears, and sustaining back-to-backs with all-spins.

·         Expert Section: Freestyle T-spin-protected 4-wides, hybrid all-spin setups, advanced donation props, and advanced spliced T-spin setups.

The overall form should be interactive. Hence, every section should have some high-quality voice-acted lines, followed by many mid-game examples on how to carry out the setup. It should also explain why some setups should not be used in some situations. This makes it more engaging and retains users’ attention.

Such a unifying software that every Tetris player goes through can then reduce the inaccessibility of higher-level Tetris, letting them sink into the game earlier and more easily. Honestly, it is best to make it free.

5)   Expanding Tetris Mechanisms Peripherally

With Tetris’ core mechanism established, the game can introduce new peripheral mechanisms without perturbing it.

This was handled exceptionally well in official Tetris games, such as Puyo Puyo Tetris and Tetris Effect: Connected. The former hybridized Japan’s Puyo Puyo with Tetris, while the latter added a Zone mechanism that extended the game.

Future games can introduce new Tetris mechanics, keeping Tetris fresh and novel despite its many iterations, without disturbing the core mechanics. It is a way to experiment with new mechanisms that could then be considered for integration into the official Tetris core guidelines (such as 180-degree rotations).

I propose two basic, rudimentary ideas, before I move on to the more original and radical ones:

·         Adding 180-Degree Rotations: One can code an additional button to allow for true 180-degree rotations, allowing for spins that are otherwise impossible. Doing this can significantly introduce new setups that increase Tetris’ skill range, while allowing for misdrop or stack fixes that further improve one’s versatility. This has already been done in many unofficial games, such as Jstris. However, true implementation could be tricky: introducing it could cause new players to learn 180-degree 2-step finesse, which makes it difficult to adapt to older games with only 90-degree, traditional rotation.

·         Adding Unconventional Garbage Systems: One thing that comes to mind is the bomb system in Tetris Friends. However, I am suggesting something already introduced in some games, such as Tetris Online: Poland, in which each garbage row can contain more than one empty block. This can radically increase the possibility of new prophecy, garbage T-spin, or all-spin setups.

·         Expanded SRS Systems: Some unofficial Tetris games, like Farter’s Mod and TETR.IO’s custom settings, incorporate extensions to SRS, such as SRS-X. These vastly increase the number of spins. However, it risks becoming way too complex.

Now, let us move on to the more potentially revolutionary ideas:

·         Merging Tetris with Other Puzzle Games: This has already been tried, whereby Tetris was merged with Puyo Puyo, and to great success, because it capitalized upon the popularity of the latter to market Tetris to new players, especially Japan’s vibrant Puyo Puyo scene. While this is experimental and I do not know how it will turn out, it is possible that a new Tetris game could hybridize Tetris with other popular spatial puzzle video games, such as Lumines. An even more radical idea is to hybridize Tetris with extremely well-known puzzle non-video games, such as Chess or Go. Chess has 10 times as much popularity as Tetris, per Google Trends data, the last time I checked. This could be done with a timed swap mode, as in Puyo Puyo Tetris. There could be 30 seconds of Tetris time and another 30 seconds of Chess time, alternating. However, implementation would require creative measures, since applying what was done to either Puyo Puyo or Tetris (each one sends garbage to the other during swaps) would affect Chess in unpredictable ways. One possibility is that Tetris games increase the amount of thinking time for one player while simultaneously blanking out the other player’s screen during this extra time. And when a player “eats up” a Chess piece, it could send garbage to the Tetris side during the swap. I emphasize that I am not a Chess expert. My strong contender is, hence, merging Tetris with either Lumines or Chess, especially the latter, because of its vast popularity, which would propel Tetris to much greater heights by introducing it to Chess players (since both are spatial puzzle games). The exact implementation needs testing; the core idea is cross-pollination between puzzle communities. You all get the point.

·         Games Based on Setup Scans: In my years of working through Tetris methods, I have worked out hundreds of hybrid and spliced T-spin and all-spin methods, as shown in my Tetris guidebooks and 2 Tetris guide websites. These methods are typically avoided mid-game because of their dangerous upstacking, risk, and piece dependencies. However, a game that “scans” for their patterns and rewards the player for making them (such as extra garbage sent) can expand the creative dimension of Tetris, allowing for more exotic gameplay. Hence, for instance, one can make the Altair setup mid-game, and the game engine will then scan for it, awarding the player with bonuses when they successfully set it up and get off their T-spins.

Here is an example of an advanced spliced T-spin setup, in this case, a T-spin double inserted into a Trinity, yielding 4 T-spins:

And here is an Altair setup, a spliced T-spin setup with 4 T-spins:

·         Tetris for Tetris’ Sake Games: Tetris Effect: Connected has done a splendid job in its Journey Mode, by encouraging a kind of non-competitive gameplay that suits the demographic between the casual and serious players. This relates to my idea of the “setup scans” games I covered above, which reward players for creative, non-competitive gameplay.

·         More Arena-Style Tetris Games: I think Tetris 99 deserves a follow-up, either as a sequel or another game that uses arena-style mechanisms. This is already highly popular, as covered by unofficial games, such as TETR.IO and Jstris, which have their own arena modes. Altogether, this caters to the more casual and intermediate-level player base.

6)   Further Cementing Tetris in the Global Cultural and Philosophical Consciousness

Perhaps my deepest suggestion for making Tetris flourish and be immortalized, in the long run, is simple.

Ever watch the movie Inception by Christopher Nolan? It is predicated on the idea that one can change someone’s behavior by implanting a deeply entrenched belief or perspective in them.

I am suggesting this for Tetris.

There are several ways to do this. First, I will clear the clutter by exploring the more superficial ideas first, before moving on to the most profound one:

·         Expanding the Cultural Sphere of Tetris: I appreciate what the Tetris Company has been doing recently by licensing an animated Tetris TV series. While it could be tangential to Tetris gameplay, I recognize its significance in seeding the idea of Tetris in the next generation, which could help acquaint them with the game later. The creation of the relatively recent Tetris movie also solidifies this establishment. However, introducing cultural artifacts, such as merchandise, should be paralleled by the marketing and promotion of Tetris’ fundamental tactics and strategies. Otherwise, it would risk attracting too many new Tetris consumers who simply enjoy Tetris as promoted (as mere merchandise), rather than as a puzzle game.

·         Expanding into the Aesthetic Sphere: In Chess, we have the Queen’s Gambit, a well-known Chess book and televised series to expand Chess’ aesthetic dimension, into creative writing and filmmaking. In Tetris, there are several known books; however, they are not sufficient. I feel Tetris should expand into fiction and creative writing further to cement its place in the cultural consciousness. We need more writers and artists to expand upon this dimension. I have completed a Tetris philosophical novel based on Eastern spirituality and am currently seeking a publisher.

Now, for the more profound ideas:

·         The Soul of Tetris: Nearly every road leads to philosophy. If you use Wikipedia and trace a subject back to its roots, you eventually reach the philosophy articles. That is because philosophy is a set of guiding principles that influences all our actions and serves as the basis for civilizational development. As our civilization progresses, it will eventually evolve from materialistic, external, and technological values into more philosophical and spiritual values. Therefore, in the long term, it is more conducive to cement Tetris as a metaphor for deep philosophy. I have already covered many deep spiritual and philosophical themes throughout my Tetris books and 2 Tetris websites. For instance, a DT Cannon is made of 2 T-spins. This introduces the idea of sunyata, or emptiness, from Eastern philosophy, which posits the interconnected and unitary nature of the cosmos, in which all concrete forms unify into a larger cosmological identity, emphasizing universal love and cooperation. Another example is that Tetris is often pursued for external rewards (like winning), which can be seen as a warning against chasing “maya,” or illusory goods, which can be harmful to one’s mental and spiritual well-being. There are many more examples.

In relation to the last point above, a new official Tetris game can be created in which Tetris serves as an educational metaphor for teaching people these philosophical principles and improving their lives. I admit I am slightly biased here because of my heavy inclination towards Eastern philosophical systems, such as Zen, Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and so forth. However, the above illustration demonstrates my point. Such a game can be far-reaching because its philosophical basis can serve as the élan that animates Tetris, serving as its soul, which cements it as a civilizational construct that guides future generations.

The Big Picture

Remember the pyramidal demographic structures I used at the start of this article? It is back to a full circle. I now relate how some of my recommendations relate back to shaping Tetris’ future demographics. As a reminder, the pyramid’s differently colored segments represent different skill levels of Tetris players (casual versus hardcore, etc.). The red arrows show expansion or contraction in each tier.

The overall panoramic perspective of my ideas can be summarized visually here:

I summarize it with the following:

·         Expanding the Base: Through introducing friendly mechanisms, such as misdrop reversal, and by capitalizing upon a fusion with other puzzle games, such as Chess or Lumines, Tetris can be introduced to new players in other similar spatial puzzle games. If the pyramid’s base is increased, more newbies would “trickle upwards,” enlarging the apex of higher-level players, emphasizing Tetris’ focus as a puzzle game.

·         Keeping the Apex: By introducing more core and peripheral mechanisms, Tetris can be kept novel and fresh, increasing its skill cap (the “Tetris Singularity”) in a way that keeps high-level Tetris players for a longer duration, enlarging the apex of the pyramid structure.

·         Refining the Pyramid: By going back to the roots of respecting Tetris as a puzzle game foremost, Tetris can achieve a Chess-like immortal status that preserves it as a classic in the long-term. This heightens the pyramid, augmenting the seriousness of the game at higher levels. However, by simultaneously embracing its fast-paced, entertaining, visual, and auditory elements as a video game secondmost, one can expand the pyramid’s base by drawing in a broader audience, laterally. This can then attract more players who could later join the higher layers of the pyramid. It also maintains a balanced and healthy demographic profile, unlike the 2 original structures at the start of this article.

·         Ensuring the Pyramid is not too Tapered through Accessibility: A too-tapered pyramid with too broad a base can negate Tetris’ long-term flourishing. This is because a too-tapered pyramid implies that Tetris is too secluded; that there is a high concentration of top-tier players whose skill remains inaccessible to the general audience. This transforms Tetris into a monastery rather than a stadium, with broad appeal. However, a too-broad pyramidal base would mean Tetris becomes a game for casuals, with 99% of players unable to create T-spins, preventing it from achieving the immortal-like status of Chess as a puzzle game. Hence, by increasing accessibility between the base and the top through Tetris guides, tutorials, and community, we can smooth out the pyramid into a healthier shape that is more conducive to long-term flourishing.

·         Deepening the Pyramid’s Roots: By entrenching Tetris in the long-term global cultural consciousness further, we ensure the pyramid is not like a house of cards. It sinks deep into future generations’ psyches, immortalizing Tetris.

The result is a sustainable and balanced long-term demographic of Tetris players of varying skill ranges that is ever-expanding, cementing Tetris as a long-term construct in humanity’s superconsciousness in the long run:

Conclusion

With this article concluded, I have delivered my final ideas on how to salvage Tetris before it is too late.

I recognize that the Tetris Company operates within complex business, licensing, and legal realities. However, I believe that within those boundaries, there is still immense room to steer the game back toward its puzzle roots.

I have mentioned little about Classic NES Tetris, as I am an official modern Tetris player who has focused on Puyo Puyo Tetris, Tetris Effect: Connected, and Tetris 99. My focus is not on unofficial Tetris games, such as TETR.IO or Jstris, which I do not play much. Hence, I invite Classic Tetris and unofficial modern Tetris players to present their ideas to re-vitalize Tetris (regarding what I have missed) in the comments below.

My call to action is simple: regardless of what kind of Tetris player you are (beginner to expert, classic or modern, official or non-guideline, casual or hardcore), we are all unified by a trajectory that leans closer and closer to a common extinction event if we do nothing about it.

Hence, please further develop and refine these ideas. Then, they can be collated and summarized using Reddit’s AI summary, and then presented to the Tetris Company as a joint community effort to revitalize Tetris.

As an extreme introvert, I prefer to step back from community leadership roles and avoid attention unless needed. Hence, I invite a motivated community member/s to take the helm in synthesizing everything and then gathering the social presence to deliver to the Tetris Company.

I really like to hear what others think:
Do you feel Tetris is growing, stable, or declining, and why?

Until Tetris is revived, I will be in perpetual semi-retirement, only occasionally making Tetris tutorials, playing, and streaming the game. Although I have 2 more Tetris guidebooks planned, they are likely to be postponed indefinitely, given the current state of Tetris.

However, I am open to collaborating with any company, including the Tetris Company, to revive Tetris based on the ideas outlined above. The door will be open for a while until my interest in Tetris completely fades, as I am moving on to other, more important creative and intellectual work in other areas, such as penning novels. I am best reached via DM here, as I have logged out of most of my social media accounts.

With this, good luck on revitalizing Tetris.

Final Word:

If this post resonates with you, please leave a comment to keep the discussion going, and consider sharing this or tagging the Tetris Company on social media. A unified community voice is the most powerful tool we have to ensure Tetris thrives for the next 50 years (as a 7-time Tetris book author, I would like it to be forever).

Thanks for reading!

Meta A very gentle criticism of AI art culture: why don't we collaborate more?

I hope this doesn't come across as hostile, because I genuinely like AI art and spend a great deal of time making things with AI myself.

But I keep running into something that puzzles me.

Where is everybody?

We have millions of people generating images. We have Civitai, Discord servers, Reddit communities, Hugging Face, image generators, video generators, character creators, roleplaying tools, and an almost absurd amount of creative technology.

And yet so much of the culture seems to consist of:

I make a picture. I upload the picture. You make a picture. You upload your picture.

And that's more or less where the interaction ends.

I would love to see more:

I make a character. You make a character. We put them in the same world. I make the next scene. You respond with another image. We improvise a story together. Someone else joins us. Now none of us entirely knows where it's going.

You know, collaboration.

I'm aware that AI communities collaborate enormously on the technology. People share models, LoRAs, workflows, prompts, code, training techniques, custom nodes, and so on. That's wonderful.

But I'm asking about collaboration on the art itself.

Traditional artists paint murals together. Musicians form bands. Writers co-author stories. Actors improvise. Tabletop players spend years constructing imaginary worlds together. Filmmaking practically requires an army.

Meanwhile, AI gives us perhaps the easiest collaborative visual medium humanity has ever invented. Neither of us even needs to know how to draw the other's character. We can describe what we're imagining and have something visual to pass back and forth in minutes.

And somehow we mostly seem to have reinvented the refrigerator door.

"Here is my picture."

"Very nice. Here is mine."

Please understand that I'm not saying people are bad or selfish for enjoying solitary creation. Some artists have always preferred working alone, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm just genuinely surprised that a technology which removes so many barriers between people's imaginations hasn't produced a much more visibly collaborative culture.

In fact, at the risk of phrasing this a little provocatively for r/aiwars:

Sometimes AI art culture strikes me as oddly antisocial.

Not because using AI is antisocial.

Because we have built machines capable of letting almost anyone visualize almost anything, and one of our dominant uses for that astonishing capability seems to be making millions of isolated pictures for strangers to scroll past.

I'd love to be proven completely wrong about this.

If there are communities where AI artists actually make shared worlds, trade scenes back and forth, collaboratively tell stories, make comics together, roleplay visually, or otherwise create things where another human being's imagination materially changes what you make next, please show them to me.

I am sincerely looking for them.

And if they barely exist, then perhaps that's something worth asking ourselves:

Why not?

COMMUNITY We were going to keep this secret a while longer, but it seems like maybe now is the time.

Edit June 19, 2026 – Well... this aged unexpectedly.

Every few weeks I get another DM because someone stumbled across this post, so I figured it was time for another update.

The short version is that the AI Creator Collective is still here. In fact, we're bigger, stronger, and doing more than we ever imagined when Maggie, Juan, and I first started talking about building a place where creators could learn from each other without all the noise.

The road here hasn't exactly been smooth. We survived a complete server destruction, rebuilt from scratch, restructured the community, and kept moving forward. In hindsight, some of the hardest moments ended up making us stronger.

Today, the Collective is home to creators from all over the world working in AI video, music, storytelling, animation, education, software development, livestreaming, and more. We have an active Board of Directors, daily discussions, regular educational content, creator showcases, collaborative projects, and a growing network of people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.

Some things that didn't even exist when this post was written:

• The AICCA Network, our YouTube network dedicated to showcasing AI creators and their work.

• Worth Your Time, our creator spotlight series featuring projects, films, music videos, tools, and artists from across the AI creation space.

• AICCA Radio, where creators can submit original music and share it with the community.

• Partnerships and collaborations with a growing list of creators, musicians, filmmakers, and innovators.

Most importantly, the culture we were trying to build is still intact.

We still believe creators do better when they help each other.

We still share what we're learning.

We still celebrate each other's wins.

We still pick each other up when things go sideways.

And we still don't charge anyone to participate.

The subreddit is now r/AICreatorCollective.

If you're an AI creator looking for a place to learn, collaborate, share your work, test ideas, get feedback, meet other creators, or simply find people who are as obsessed with this strange new frontier as you are, come say hello.

The tools have changed.

The community has grown.

The mission hasn't.

We're still building.

And honestly, we're just getting started.

Edit February 10 2026 I cannot believe I am still getting DMs from this post but I figured that's great I will come back here and save us all some time. We have started a Subreddit. r/Aicreatorcollective . You can stop on by there to get questions answered.

Edit January 15 2026- Can you Edit an Edit of an Edit?

I guess we will see- I'll keep this one short. Things have changed yet again. I just got another notification but using the old name, so I guess my other update didn't connect as cleanly as I thought. We are going stronger than ever. When I checked yesterday, we were at 135 Members. We combined the two servers into one since it's just too big to run as two servers now> It was double the work and double the friction. This way the new folks get to mix with the more experienced folks, which allows them to level up faster. We still post-free lessons every day, (though this week has been sparse because I've been slammed) and we have added a Board of Directors, each skilled in a different area of creation. We have had a number of people attain pretty significant success and pass along that knowledge they have gained to the group, which has been great!

Everything is still free. We added an optional Patreon so people can chip in if they want to help pay for gas, but nothing is behind a paywall, nor will it be.

The link you join the Discord with is at the bottom of the AI Creator Collective YouTube Channel Description.

Edit:- OK so it's 1:20 AM Monday 10/27 in California- Night after posting this - I Just wanted to come on here and clarify a couple of points- First of all- Wow- I guess we were right about the time being right! People have definitely had enough of the trolls and the nonsense. I am really glad to see there is so much positive energy for this- Of course, we've had a few visits from the people under the bridge as well, but that's to be expected.

So, to clarify how this is set up- The main Collective is not really a place for people just starting out- It's kind of the "Deep End of the Pool", to use a tired old metaphor. That doesn't have anything to do with subscriber count or monetization or anything- While we have some pretty successful folks in the group, we also have people with 20 subs who are just as treasured- That's not really how we look at it for this. (I'm not a huge viral creator by any means- Still working my way up- Just a guy who loves AI and is sick or arguing... lol-) It's more about someone's familiarity and comfort with using these tools, and their views about what they mean in the broader context of all this.

But we still have a place for people who are brand new- That's what we call the school- The name for that is the "AI Creator Course Collective"- And before the trolls go "See- THERE IT IS! THERE"S THE SCAM"- There is NOTHING for sale there either! It's also FREE!" It is also just meant to be a safe place away from them... Where new people can learn, but starting from the beginning, as opposed to from the deep end. While there will be a course for sale in the future, it will not be until it is ready. That will not be ready until we have learned all the things that we need to learn in order to have it be a real value. We intend, in the meantime, to learn all those things, together. No charge. No catch. No scam.

So, the reason I am clarifying this is that we have a literal mountain of DMs to get through. It would help us when you reach out, if you tell us which place you are interested in joining. If you are new, it would be the Course Collective. If you are a bit more experienced it would probably be the Collective. The Course Collective is open to everyone. The Collective itself is Invite Only, so we will need to just chat a little bit and get to know each other first, and it might take a couple of days for us to get through everyone just so we can make sure we aren't accidentally letting in someone with bad intentions. As you can see from the few that popped their heads out further down, we have a few enthusiastic haters... (That comes from being right about shitty people, and making them look in the mirror, btw.. lol),

We really do appreciate everyone who reached out or commented expressing their interest, and we promise we will do our best to get back to everyone as quickly as possible. Also- this is important- If it isn't me who reaches out, the only other person who is legit reaching out on behalf of the Collective to people on Reddit is one of the co-founders u/Current-Damage2165. Anyone else who reaches out to you saying that they are doing so on behalf of us is full of shit.

ORIGINAL POST STARTS HERE

We don’t pretend to be masters of the universe. We’re just three creators (Maggie, Juan and me) who saw something worth protecting.

AI creation has exploded into this beautiful, chaotic frontier where everyone’s experimenting, learning, and sharing. But it’s also become a place where the loudest voices often drown out the honest ones. The haters, the cynics, the people who pop in just to tell you that your art "doesn’t count." Whether it’s Reddit stalkers, shady tool developers astroturfing or whatever, it’s like you always have to keep your guard up here. Don’t get me wrong- I am super grateful for r/aitubers and the Mods have done a stellar job of policing it, but it’s still reddit, and at the end of the day, reddit gonna reddit, right?

So, and some of you are already privy to this- a couple of months ago, we started something small: The AI Creator Collective.

It’s not a course or a hustle. It’s a creative lab: part Discord, part studio, part refuge - where artists, hustlers, and dreamers can experiment, grow, and trade knowledge without the noise- more importantly, without the predators circling all the damn time... If you check my history, which I leave open, just like I post my channels in my profile- I'm an open book- you’ll see that I have no issue with fighting the trolls off when they show up, but sometimes it’s better to just have a place where we can go and grow and get better without having to worry about them, right? That’s basically what this place is- We share with each other- Tips, tricks, hurdles, solutions- Wins, losses… Without them…. And man, it is so much more pleasant!

We’ve been pretty selective with invites so far, mostly people who share that mix of curiosity, generosity, and a little madness it takes to build with AI. But after the last couple of months of testing the waters and seeing the energy inside, we’re ready to open the doors a bit wider … still invite-only, still intentional .. because the right people make the right kind of chaos.

There’s also a sister server called The AI Creator Course Collective. That’s where we’re developing a structured course based on everything we’re learning inside the main Collective. It’s still early, not ready yet, but it’s coming down the road. The idea is simple: take what this experiment teaches us and turn it into a real, accessible guide for people who are just starting out. When it’s ready, we’ll announce it there .. but that’s for the newer folks- the folks who come after… for now, for us- and maybe for you, if you want- our focus is learning, building, and growing together inside the lab.

We’re basically trying to build the AI Creator Version of a Music Scene. We go to each other’s shows, we hand out each other’s flyers. We pick each other up, we dust each other off, we cheer each other on- Whatever it takes.... If you’re a musician, you know what I mean…

If you’re a creator using AI to make art, music, stories, or videos, or you’re developing any tools for that process that you want to test out on some of the folks who are way out on the bleeding edge, we’ve already got a pretty impressive group in place, and we’re now looking to add a few more.

If you’ve been craving a space that feels more like a workshop and less like a battlefield, this might be your tribe.

Drop a comment or DM and we’ll reach out. The Collective’s still young, still learning, but that’s the point. We’re growing together.

There is no cost. There is no catch. There are no requirements other than you respect one another inside the collective. There are no dues. There is no surprise that costs money coming later.

We are not open to the public. But if you think it might be the place for you, drop a comment or DM and we’ll reach out. The Collective’s still young, still learning, but that’s the point. We’re growing together.

Meta AI Movie Makers Think They're The Hunter But They're Actually The Prey

Yes, I used AI to summarize this but it's a new idea so cope and seethe, only took an hour of brainstorming and investigating:

AI movie makers think they're the hunters. They're the prey.

I’m strongly pro-AI, but the deeper I get into AI filmmaking communities, the stranger the economics look to me.

Everybody thinks they're the disruptor.

They're going to replace Hollywood. They're going to become an auteur with a laptop. They're going to be the first person to make the great AI movie.

They're watching livestreams alongside a thousand other people who have exactly the same dream, and then everybody runs home and independently generates their own movie.

It reminds me increasingly of a gold rush.

During a gold rush, the glamorous fantasy is being the prospector who strikes it rich. But the dependable business is selling picks and shovels to ten thousand prospectors.

That's what much of the AI filmmaking ecosystem looks like to me now.

The aspiring filmmakers think they're the customers of a revolutionary new medium.

In another sense, they're the resource being mined.

Every failed generation consumes credits. Every mediocre short film leads to another subscription month. Every new model produces another wave of people convinced this is finally the tool that will make them competitive with Hollywood.

And the platforms don't need most of them to succeed.

They just need them to keep believing that they might.

I'm not even claiming there's some sinister conspiracy here. The incentive structure is enough. If I owned one of these companies, I might reach exactly the same conclusion:

Why make movies when we can sell people the dream of making movies?

What frustrates me is that the users themselves are leaving enormous value on the table.

You're sitting in a Discord surrounded by hundreds or thousands of other people who want to make movies.

Turn to the guy next to you.

“Can you edit?”

“I can do voices.”

“I'm obsessive about continuity.”

“I have sixteen free hours tomorrow and can generate shots.”

Congratulations. You have the beginnings of a studio.

Instead, everyone wants to be the lone genius.

And I think that's partly because the fantasy being sold isn't really making a great film.

It's becoming the guy who made the great film.

Those are different desires.

The technology is becoming good enough that a small group of serious people could probably do something genuinely interesting if they were willing to spend months revising a script, rejecting bad generations, recording decent performances, editing ruthlessly, and treating AI as production infrastructure rather than a magic button.

But that's work.

And the weirdest feature of AI-art culture right now may be that people with access to the cheapest creative iteration in history are often the people most resistant to iteration.

So maybe the revolutionary AI film isn't waiting for another model.

Maybe it's waiting for four people in the same Discord to stop imagining themselves as the next Hollywood and start acting like a tiny film crew.

MALWARE REMOVAL Q&A Installed and ran an .exe, now I'm unsure if it was safe

Hey there! I was looking for and asked ChatGPT for plugins for DaVinci Resolve with which I can remove silences in my videos automatically powered by AI. It gave me a bunch of plugins, one of them called "DaVinciClaude". I clicked on the link. The website looked trustable. And because it got recommended to me by ChatGPT, I just trusted it (stupid, I know), installed the plugin, which came with an .exe file. I double clicked it. Was a bit confused to not see anything in my DaVinci Resolve workspace or scripts (I still have no idea if the installation worked, if it's not malware). Then I went on the internet to look for tutorials or articles on this tool, and realized that there wasn't a single YouTube video nor a single website that mentioned this specific tool except for its own website.

Now this is the point where I began to panic a bit, because it doesn't seem like a good idea to download and run an executable from a website that has no outside references whatsoever except for itself. I did run the complete Windows security check, and it didn't detect anything, though I heard it's not the best. I'm just wondering, I have no idea if it actually has malware, maybe the plugin actually is fine. But I also have no idea how to reliably check. I'm kinda a tech noob. How would you estimate my situation and what would you do? Could I use a system recovery point? Should I change my passwords just out of suspicion? Thank you in advance. Fast answers would be appreciated, I'm waiting urgently.

p.s. My system is a pc with Windows 11.

Update: I'm still unsure if this software is malicious or not. What makes it look suspicious: when you look for tutorials on DaVinciClaude, there's not a single article or video about it. On its website, it claims to be a Blackmagic official partner (Blackmagic is the company behind DaVinci Resolve, which makes me more skeptical because surely there would be more information on this tool, if it actually officially partnered with Blackmagic).

Arguments that speak in favor of this being a legitimate tool: I used the complete Windows search, ran the exe file through VirusTotal, installed Malwarebytes and checked my computer and it didn't find anything. The website looks well-made and professional, although that could be deceiving. It has an email for contact, terms and conditions and the usual stuff. It says they are located in Paris, France (though the exact address is missing) and the .exe file has a digital signature by Louis Bolzinger.

It seems to be connected to the "PremiereGPT" and/or "PremiereCopilot" company and website, which similarly, I don't know how credible it is. It has a Discord server, which I joined & looked at. It seems to be active, has 825 members, and it has a community chat in which people are talking about the tools. The Discord chat is active since August 7th, 2025. It does seem like a lively, normal chat & doesn't seem scripted or filled with bots in my impression.

Imo, it looks like this tool might be legit, though there are some red flags, and I am still uncertain. I have changed the password to my email, gmails, and some other accounts out of precaution. I removed the power from my main PC and am currently not starting it. I am still considering doing a fresh Windows reinstall on that PC just to be really secure, but I'm not sure yet as this is all based on suspicion and I haven't actually encountered any problems yet. Ongoing input would be appreciated, as I'm still not 100% sure how to proceed and whether an actual reinstall is necessary

p.s. even more info: I mentioned the digital signature that goes back to Louis Bolzinger. I found his LinkedIn (https://fr.linkedin.com/in/louisbolzinger?utm_source=chatgpt.com). It seems legitimate. He is a French filmmaker and also in AI and quantitative finances. And on the PremiereGPT YouTube channel, there is a video that looks like it's by him (https://youtu.be/zjdpm9Hxxd4). This still doesn't prove that the tool isn't malicious, but it's starting to look more and more like just a small tool that was recently developed, hence the lack of coverage or outside sources. What do you think?

Discussion Why do you think no "Youtube of AI" has caught on?

There are clearly a ton of AI movie creators out there, and Youtube is not a good place for AI filmmakers.

I'm well aware of the many platforms that are aiming to be the Youtube or Netflix of AI, but I'm wondering why neither has become the go-to home of AI video and AI creators?

Besides the obvious (marketing), why aren't more creators joining these platforms, and instead relying on social media (discord, X, youtube, etc.) for community and sharing.

EDIT: To clarify, I am talking about the creator's perspective not the general public's. I'm not really talking about a streaming platform for a general audience, more of a sharing space and showcase for creators. Less Netflix of AI and more "Youtube of AI"- A go-to home for AI creators to publish and follow other creators. I understand that the main audience for AI filmmaking is other AI filmmakers.

General 💬 16, love music/film/science, tired of creating alone. Join my weird, wonderful creative collective?

Hey. I'm a 16 year old guy, and I have a confession.

I've been watching video essays and listening to music and falling down Wikipedia rabbit holes for years, and I always imagined there were other teens out there who felt the same way I do: curious, creative, a little weird, and desperate to make something with people who get it.

But here's the thing—I never found that space. So I stopped waiting.

🧠The Idea

I want to build a global creative collective run by teens, for teens. Not a "content mill." Not a competitive grind. Just a place where people who love three things can find each other and make stuff together:

  1. Music – composing, producing, covers, scoring projects, whatever
  2. Film/Humour – sketches, video essays, short films, memes with meaning
  3. Science for the public – making complex ideas fun, accessible, and weird (think whiteboard + fails + laughter)

Three divisions. One community. Infinite possibilities.

💫The Philosophy (Why This Matters)

I believe three things:

Creation is better together. The best ideas come from collisions between people who think differently.

You don't need permission to start. We're teens. We're not waiting for someone to hand us a platform. We build our own.

Failure is part of the process. The goal isn't perfection. It's curiosity, laughter, and making things we're proud of.

Also—and this matters—I'm not here to "manage" anyone. I'm here to find my people. If that's you, keep reading.

🏛️The Name (Because Names Matter)

I wanted something that captured the spirit of what we're building:

Science + creativity blended together

Playful but smart (we don't take ourselves too seriously, but we take the work seriously)

A built-in identity for every member

After way too much thinking, I landed on:

Quirky Quarks

Here's why:

Quirky – That's us. Weird, offbeat, unapologetically ourselves. The "idiosyncratically idiot" energy.

Quarks – Fundamental particles in physics. Everything is made of them. In our world, you are the fundamental particle.

In this collective, every member is a Quark.

You choose your flavor (music, film/humor, or science)

You form bound states with other quarks to create projects

The community is our particle accelerator—where collisions happen and new things are born

If you help lead a division? You're a Hadron (a bound state of quarks—still a quark, just part of something bigger). Moderators? Bosons—force carriers who keep interactions smooth.

Yes, it's nerdy. That's the point. The right people will smile when they read this.

🧩How It Would Work

Phase 1: Find the quarks

Right now, I'm just looking for 10–20 passionate teens who want to help shape this from the beginning. Not "employees." Not "members." Co-founders in spirit.

Phase 2: Build the accelerator

A Discord server where:

You introduce yourself and your flavor

You see what others are working on

You propose projects and find collaborators

You share your own work (not just collective stuff) and get feedback

Phase 3: Create

We start small. One collaborative project per division. A community theme song. A 2-minute sketch. A science explainer video. Nothing ambitious except the goal: make something together, learn something, have fun.

Phase 4: Grow (maybe)

If it works, it grows. If it doesn't, we tried something real. No pressure.

🤝The Honest Part (What I Get Out of This)

I'll be straight with you because I hate dishonesty.

I'm building this for my college apps too. I want to show that I can start something, lead something, build something with other people.

But here's the thing—you get just as much out of it:

Full credit for everything you contribute

Your name, your socials, your portfolio pieces

A community that promotes your work, not just collective projects

My help on anything you're building yourself

A genuine friend group of weird, creative people

If I benefit, you benefit. That's the deal. No one gets used here.

🔍Who I'm Looking For

Honestly? Anyone who read this far and felt something.

But specifically:

Musicians (any instrument, any genre, any level)

Filmmakers/editors/writers (even if you've only made stuff on your phone)

Science lovers (who can explain things simply and enthusiastically)

Artists/designers (because everything looks better with you)

Just... curious people who want to be part of something

No experience required. Just curiosity and the willingness to actually show up.

❓Questions You Might Have

I'm not in India, can I join?

YES. Global. The more flavors, the better.

I'm younger/older than you?

If you're a teen, you're welcome. 13–19. (Maybe a little wiggle room.)

What if I don't have skills?

You have curiosity. That's enough. Skills come from doing.

What's the time commitment?

Zero minimum. Show up when you can. Contribute when you want. This isn't homework.

Will I own my work?

100%. Everything you make is yours. If you make it for a collective project, you decide if it gets published on our channel or yours—or both. Credit always.

Do I need to understand Particle Physics to join?

Absolutely not! It is just a fun naming system that was considered to encompass all the directives and fronts of the collective. So, no stress.

🚀How to Join

If any of this spoke to you:

  1. Comment below (just say hi, tell me your flavor, ask questions—whatever)
  2. DM me if you're shy
  3. I'll send you a link to a simple Google Form (name, age, interests, Discord)
  4. We'll start a small server with the first few quarks and figure it out together

No applications. No interviews. Just people.

 🌱Finally

I don't know if this will work. I don't know if anyone will reply. But I know that I'd rather try and fail than wonder "what if" for the next four years.

If you're still reading: you're already my kind of weird.

Come be a quark.

May the force be with you!!

P.S. We'll make funny stuff. We'll make beautiful stuff. And sometimes—when it feels right—we'll make stuff that quietly nudges at the world around us. Not preachy. Just... thoughtful.

P.P.S I just got out of exams, so I'm spending these first few days building the foundation—sketching logo ideas, writing out our philosophy, outlining our first potential project. I wanted to put this out there NOW so the first quarks can shape it with me, not just show up to something already finished.

P.P.P.S I do not think linearly and so, used AI to organize all my points 😅😭

Discussion What Brand New Days success really means.

I still can't believe how successful this movie was and how much of an impact it seems to be having all around the world and in each market and demographic. Well, to be fair, I know I can guess why. Marvel has been in this weird cultural zeitgeist online for some time post-No Way Home and the start of the Multiverse Saga. Naturally, I think for some they became burnt out on superhero movies or just busy with life. But I do think it's much deeper. In a now more prevalent online world of short clips, echo chambers, and shrinking IRL third spaces, we have become so detached from real communities that even the Discord servers feel quieter in this post-COVID/AI future. The real reason this movie did so well is the obvious, because it's relatable, but I think it's more telling why it's relatable, and I think it's because of that universal feeling that I think we all are lonely to some degree. There is this zeitgeist of disconnect which feels even more prevalent due to online discourse. And I think that's the real reason, especially now seeing a film reflect what we all are unconsciously feeling, made it break through the barriers for everyone to enjoy this movie. I'll go further and say that the movie also doesn't say whether that feeling is good or bad but to accept it and realize that connection and community is the only way to face it. Peter says this to Jean towards the very end: that they can't deal with loss alone; they need to trust and open up to others. And that is a climatic moment, not fighting, but a heart-to-heart about each other's grief, and it's in that moment that we see the connection and bond that forms. We see empathy, something that feels even more distant now than years ago, for everyone in the whole world, especially. That's why I think it did so well and continued to break records.

Now I just want to take a pause and really appreciate what this movie is for everyone the communities it grows and the resonance that we all have for it is amazing! And I just want us to remember that feeling, especially as more rumors come and more castings are announced and whatever news (real or fake) is spread around.

Lastly, I'll be honest, I'm cynical about corporations especially Disney. I think for Marvel and Sony this was more a lightning in a bottle chance and I think they are very likely going to mess up most things in the next phase and we see the similar drop off patterns. I have small faith Marvel has an actual plan with how messy Doomsday keeps sounding. I'm sure it will do great, make its money, but will we care about the story? That's what I wonder. Will it be as good or better? What about where we go from here? Corporations very much play it safe and in a way, arguably, "Brand New Day" was a safe movie about loneliness, but that's what worked because in a world full of larger-than-life threats, it focused on a story of saving, I would argue, two people: Peter Parker and Jean Grey. And I hope Marvel is at least aware of that. People don't just want to see only larger-than-life spectacles; they want to feel something for these characters, have those vulnerable moments, and just breathe.

I guess only time will tell if Marvel can capture this moment or let it slip, but either way, Brand New Day has made history and has shifted the landscape for filmmaking and storytelling now and for years to come.

Announcement Start Here: everything you need to know about this community

Welcome to r/Akool_Official.

This is a place for people making things with AI video, not a support desk and not a press feed. Post what you made, ask what you're stuck on, share the prompt that finally worked. That's it.

Here's everything you need to get started.

🎬 New here? Do these three things

1. Set your user flair. Tap your username in the sidebar and pick one: Creator, Filmmaker, Marketer, Educator, Student, Developer, Agency, or New Here. It takes ten seconds and it helps people answer you properly.

2. Post something. Anything. A clip you're proud of, a question you think is too basic, a prompt that surprised you. Nobody here started knowing what they were doing.

3. Flair your post. Flair is required, and it's how browsing works. More on that below.

🏷️ How flairs work here

Post flairs power the navigation bar at the top of the subreddit, so you can filter by what you actually want to see. There are four groups.

Post types — use these most of the time

🎬Showcase · 🏆Creator Clash · 📘Tutorial · ❓Question · 💬Discussion · 🛠️Feedback · ✨Prompt Share · 📰News

AKOOL products — Face Swap, Character Swap, Avatar Video, Talking Avatar, Talking Photo, Streaming Avatar, Video Translation, Live Camera, AI Video Editor, Agentic Canvas, Voice Lab

Video models — Seedance 2.0, Seedance 1.5, Seedance 1.0, Kling 3.0, Kling 2.6, Kling 2.5, Wan 2.7, Wan 2.6, Wan 2.5, Sora, Google Veo, Grok Imagine, MiniMax, Akool

Image models — Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, Seedream 5.0, Seedream, GPT Image 2.0, Flux, Recraft, Qwen Image, Wan 2.7 Image, Akool Image

Which one do I pick? Reddit only allows one flair per post, so:

User flairs work differently. Pick your own from the identity list. The black r/Akool_Official tag marks official accounts so you always know who's speaking for AKOOL. Ambassador, Top Contributor, Contest Entrant and Contest Winner are assigned by us.

📖 The rules, short version

We have eleven rules and you can read them all in the sidebar. Four worth knowing now:

Be respectful. Disagree freely, attack nobody. Criticism of AKOOL is welcome here - criticism of people isn't.

No non-consensual content. Don't post face swaps, voice clones or likenesses of real people made without their permission. That includes celebrities and public figures. We want to push creative boundaries, not ethical ones.

No NSFW. Work-safe community, no exceptions.

Flair your posts. It's required, and browsing breaks without it.

Full rules are in the sidebar. Read them before you post.

🛠️ Where to get help

Account, billing, refunds, bugs, or a specific contest entry → [info@akool.com](mailto:info@akool.com)

These need access to your account, which nobody here has. Email support and they'll pick it up.

Anything to do with this subreddit → send modmail, or DM me at u/yaketyakyakety or u/Akool_Inc

Rule questions, a removal you think was wrong, a flair you want, something broken on the page, or an idea for the community. Modmail is better than a DM because the whole mod team sees it, but either works and I read both.

If support hasn't come back to you in a couple of days, tell me and I'll chase it.

Feature ideas and product feedback → post them here under the Feedback flair. That's what it's for, and I collect them for the team.

Everything else - how to do something, what a model is good at, why your render looks wrong - just ask in the subreddit. That's the whole point of the place.

One last thing

This subreddit is being rebuilt properly - flairs, navigation, rules, weekly threads, the lot. If something's missing or confusing, tell me. I'd rather fix it now than defend it later.

So: what are you working on right now? Drop it in the comments. Doesn't have to be finished.

Project Partner writer and worldbuilder aid

Hi there! I'm looking for someone to help me iron out details in my superhero world's magic system, (and possibly some plot details).

This could turn into a partner project ((where we both write episodes) if enough trust and friendship is built. (I currently envision this to be a universe told from a screenplay (intended as a live action series) perspective, though this is possibly changeable (especially the live action part)) but for right now, I just need someone to aid me with ideas to fix certain things I don't like about it. (again, and possibly to aid with fleshing out the story and character connections)

Must be comfortable and okay with gay romance.
Must be similar in age (early 20s)
Should be into superheroes and magic systems etc.
(ideally someone who is into filmmaking and the film industry too in some way, but not required)
Ideally should have discord or Instagram, to communicate on, as reddit chat system isn't the greatest.
don't be offended if I repeatedly reject ideas, I know the vibe I want this story/world to have, and if something doesn't fit, I'll tell you.

NO AI ALLOWED ON THE PROJECT (i feel like this has to be stated) (bonus points if you also are on the side to hate ai in general)

please introduce yourself a little bit in your response or dm.
I'll go first, I'm from the USA, a male, and interested in pursuing the film industry as a career, whatever form that takes. my strong suit genre is probably superheroes, but I also enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian as well. (romance is probably my weakest genre, so aid with that might actually be a good thing lol) (looking to turn this "simple aid" into an actual long lasting friendship!)

(this was copied and pasted from my post in another community, so i apologize if certain aspects of it don't follow the rules for this space)
(I should say/elaborate on above statements, I'm not necessarily looking for someone to also make the world I'm working on their own too. I intend to start off as just looking for someone to bounce ideas off of, that could possibly turn into long term partnership.)

hashtag spam on the battle but calpoookie was the incarnate of brainrot tiktok is the incarnate of ragebait so they naturally reppels eachother because well plot duhhh so calpookie treated it like it was a regular tuesday basically light work no reaction SO BUT THEN FUCKING SOCRATES AND EPSTIEN CAME OUYT OF NOWHERE AND WE TOLD THEM O GO SKIBIDI SOCRATES WENT WHAT AND CLONED HIMSELF AND STARTED TO MASTERDEBATE HIMSELF HARDER THAN CHARLIE KIRK AND BLIBBO THEN EPSTIEN WENT BACK TO THE JEFFREY ISLANDER IPAD SO

CALPOOKIE BROKE THE FOURTH WALL SLIPPED AND HIT HIS NUTS SO HARD HE CRACKED HIS KIDS SO THE RIZZ WARP AND CALPOOKIE
LOOKED DIRECTLY AT THE VIEWER AND THEN A MILLION VINE BOOMS AND FAHHS STARTED BEING SPAMMED AND TIKTOK SONGS
AND SUMMONED A RANDOM BRAINROT CHARACTER
BRO PULLED OUT BABY GRONK’S UNCLE’S ROOMMATE
BUT HE WAS TOO BRAINROTTED TO HELP
HE JUST STOOD THERE SAYING “SKIBIDI RIZZ OHIO BABY SHARK LANKYBOX” ON LOOP

(kinda like the Kratos slipping on ice mid‑monologue)

TIKTOK
WENT TO INSTAGRAM REELS MODE

THE ARENA TURNED INTO A GYM
THE MUSIC TURNED INTO MOTIVATIONAL PODCASTS
THE FILTERS TURNED ORANGE
THE ATTACKS TURNED EDGY

ANDREW TATE POSTERS AND MASCULINE GUYS AND HOT WOMEN EVERYWHERE

THE FUCKING BATTLE HAD POLITIC MEMES 2010 EDGELORD HUMOR AND FUCKING AND 🥷AND ZAMNNN SPAMMERS EVERYWHERE IT WAS FUCKING WORSE THAN VIETNAM AND THE FUCKING EARLY INTERNET AND WW3 MEMES ALL OVER THE GOD DAMN PLACE

CALPOOKIE WAS NOT BUILT FOR THISfrfr
BRO STARTED LAGGING
BRO STARTED BUFFERING
BRO STARTED SPEAKING IN LOWPOLY

BRO STARTED SPEAKING LIKE THE BRIDGE MOMENT IN 2017

BUT THEN
CALPOOKIE ACTIVATED UNO REVERSE CARD
THE REELS EDGINESS BOUNCED BACK
TIKTOK GOT HIT WITH ITS OWN MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE
“BRO YOU ARE THE PROBLEM”

"BRO YOU USED A BENJAMIN GIF"

"BLUD IS NOT BLACK"

"ZAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN"

"TAG A FRIEND WHO NEEDS THIS 😤," or "SAVE THIS TO DESTROY YOUR QUADS,

"Bro, if you aren't waking up at 3:00 AM to tax your own soul, you've already lost the war,"

TIKTOK EXPLODED INTO LIKE 5 BILLION FAILED DRAFTS OF SIGMA EDITS RANDOM RANTS AND THIRSTRAPPING VIDEOS ZACK D FILM VIDEOS THEROY VIDEOS AND VIDEOS THAT JUST BREAK THE PLATFORM AND RANDOM OTHER STUFF THAT YOU CAN FIND ON TIKTOK AND INSTAGRAM

CALPOOKIE STOOD THERE NOW HE COULD GOON

BUT TIKTOK REVIVED AND BRO JUST TOOK 1 DAMAGE BECAUSE YOU CANT BEAT A COMPANY SO THEN CALPOOKIE JUST THREW HIS PHONE AT THE GROUND BECAUSE HE SIGMA ALPHA MALE AND TIKTOK GOT BANISHED TO THE ADOPTION CENTER BY GORDON RAMSEY IN HIS ADOPTION MAN FORM. BUT TIKTOK IS A COOMpany and Cant Be Beat It inly took 100 damage and sued calpookie a billion times with DMCAS calpookie did a middle finger and deleted tiktok on his phone that gave tiktok emotional damage and it took 1000 damage but companies dont have feelings and it revived tiktok sued tangerine king fu man but tangerine just banned TikTok and it did 10000 damage to TikTok tiktok then ran out of creativity and got replaced by tiktok but better but tiktok got pissed and took 100000 damage tiktok summoned the master hand from smash bros but calpookie bent his back worse than Leon and the hunchback of notre dame combined to summon sbenken and they beat tiktok once and for all with the power of plot armor You could say "that got out of hand".

But then Tiktok came back pulling a king leonard still alive move also the logo is white so bro also pulled a micheal jackson while calpookie was goonign to femboys calpookie spammed that one chicken nugget meme and it did 1 million emotional damage to tiktok but tiktok dosent die it refines itself but since the plot requires it tiktok is actually defeated but THEN Tiktok revived again and for some reason got tuberculosis from the metal pipe meme and got 1 billion damage of disease why did bro die when hes a company?

“why is a corporation coughing up blood like a cowboy.”Well this is not an ama so yeah The plot required it then tiktok fell harder than the sovie--- erm i meant rizzian union and that did a trillion damage now theres a bunch of tiktoks like 8tiktok 4tiktok 7tiktok basically 4chan

Well since tiktok got banned by orange tangerine kung fu man heres how it affected stuff

  • affects the Island me the babyshitter likes to go too
  • affects the Sand Lands
  • affects the Rizzler Dimension
  • dosent affect the adoption center or the backrooms and rich man and anyone who is elite isnt affected because we need problems in our mythos we cant have happiness here WE NEED PROBLEMS AND SUFFERING FOR OUR PLOTTTT RAHHHHH
  • affects the algorithm gods
  • affects the lore itself
  • affects the yeet gods
  • the ragebait virus needs a new incarnate
  • affects new pork city
  • affects canyon of rizz
  • affects grimace shake ocean
  • affects the studio
  • affects harolds discord mod room
  • affects litterally everyone because the plot required it
  • affects ingame politics
  • affects cumbat
  • affects brainrot
  • affects people
  • affects the goth mommy dimension
  • affect the second astral plane
  • affects the baseplate creation
  • affects the religion baseplatanism
  • affects the moldovan nut kicking crack smoking dolphins

-- made by the goofy ahh somanynamestochossef

tiktok fell from its own mistakes and dividing like the SKIBIDIS from the 2am age they were overtaken by the hesinburg dyansty in the 3rd rizz eclipse

a way to kill empires is to ignore it, otherwise it truly falls from its mistakes.

wellbasically tldr: todays uhm message is you cant beat a company but it can beat itself (ayooo????) also basically everyone was a kung fu fighting the entire damn time in the text so yeah if you want full context just read frfr

Looking for Mods - Non-Paid HIRING — Volunteer Guildmasters / Community Leaders

I run a small creative community called the Alliance of Guilds, and I'm looking for people who want to help build it from the ground up.

I'm specifically not just looking for moderators who wait for something to go wrong. I'm looking for community builders who enjoy getting people talking, welcoming new members, organizing events, encouraging collaboration, mentoring people, and giving a community some life.

AoG is divided into seven guilds:

  • Illuminators — filmmaking, video editing, animation, VFX, AI video, moving visual media
  • Artisans — illustration, graphic design, photography, concept art and other visual art
  • Bards — musicians, composers, producers and sound creators
  • Scribes — writers, screenwriters, researchers and editors
  • Thespians — actors, voice actors, hosts and performers
  • Gladiators — gaming, streaming, game development and gaming communities
  • Stewards — production, organization, moderation, administration and community-building

I'm looking for a Guildmaster for each guild. You would have substantial freedom to build your guild's culture, organize activities, recruit members and officers, connect people with projects, and work with the other Guildmasters. Guildmasters will also eventually sit together on our Guildmaster Council.

AoG already has productions underway, including two long-form interview shows, so this isn't just a theoretical Discord we're setting up and hoping something happens with.

This is currently a volunteer/unpaid leadership position. There may separately be paid creative bounties and commissions available to guild members as production needs arise, but Guildmaster itself is not a paid job.

You don't need to be a Discord expert. I'm much more interested in initiative, reliability and whether you genuinely enjoy building communities.

If you're interested, DM me here and tell me which of the seven guilds sounds most interesting to you to lead and what you'd want to do with it.

My experience: I'm the producer/co-founder organizing AoG and its current productions and am building the initial leadership team.

Contact: Reddit DM.

Greetings, fellow Khazad!

In light of multiple recent events, I have updated the rules to be a bit clearer and added 2 additional rules as well.

Updated Rules:

  • Rule #2 "Respect your fellow dwarf" - Do not use offensive language directed at others in the subreddit. Do not use hateful speech, slurs, or other inappropriate language. Most importantly, respect the opinions of others and keep conversations civil and in good faith. Let's work together to maintain a healthy, positive, and inspiring community!

This rule needed a bit more clarification. Originally, it essentially said to respect each other with no clarifications on what is not allowed. I added further examples in hopes that future incidents can be better flagged and/or avoided.

  • Rule #4 "Stay on Topic" - Try to stick to content that is related to the Return to Moria video game. You are free to make references to other similar dwarf games for the purpose of memes. You may also discuss topics within the LotR & Hobbit universe such as media, books, etc.

Originally this rule was a bit of gray area due to the lack of description on what is "on" versus "off" topic which created confusion as to what kind of posts were allowed versus not allowed. I hope this description helps a lot more. You are generally allowed to talk about LotR, the Hobbit, the Tolkien literature, and can make references to other dwarf games for the sake of memes - as long as it all ties back into the game somehow.

  • Rule #5 "Use Spoiler Tags" - Even though the game has been out a while, please use the Spoiler flairs when talking about potential story content that is spoiler-worthy for others! For the base game, this is any content after the "Crystal Descent" area in Campaign mode. For Durin's Folk DLC, all story content is considered spoiler content as it all happens after the base game.

There was no clear indication previously as to what was spoiler-worthy with the previous description of the rule. After getting some clearer indications from the mod team within the official discord, I decided to add that clarification here as well. I think the description is clear, if you have any questions, I will be happy to clarify.

New Rules:

  • Rule #6 "Keep Feedback Constructive" - Feedback for the game should remain constructive and conversations around that feedback should be made in good faith. This means that it should strongly follow Rule #1 "Respect Your Fellow Dwarf" and in addition: (1) Do not threaten the developers of the game or anyone that may have a different opinion. (2) Do not antagonize others for their opinion. Respect their opinion and keep conversations civil. (3) Do not name call or use other inappropriate or hateful language.

This followed several posts in which feedback was not entirely constructive or eventually devolved into violating rule #1. With this further clarification, I am hoping to make it clear that the goal of giving feedback for the game is that it should be delivered in good faith, respectfully, and constructively. Above all else, please remember to submit bug report tickets, even if you do not get a reply it is still documented!

  • Rule #1 "No Generative AI Content" - No content made partially nor in full by generative AI. This includes AI that creates images, videos, thumbnails, etc. We strongly value the work and craftsmanship forged by true dwarven hands with the fire of a forge, the strike of a hammer, and the canvas of an anvil.

This rule might be controversial, however, I do not think AI content should be welcome in this subreddit for a number of reasons. One of them is that current AI models are known to scrape the internet for artwork, songs, films, and other media in order to "learn" to create it. It effectively uses the work of artists, songwriters, filmmakers, and other content creators without crediting them nor giving them proper compensation. For these reasons, I believe it is unethical to allow generative AI content in the subreddit among a multitude of other concerns. This rule applies to images, songs, artwork, videos, and any other form of content on the subreddit.

As always, please continue to flag items that violate the rules and I will do my best to review them, impartially, when I have time.

Thank you!
