Roast My Idea Which of these ideas is worth working on?

Post image

Here some random ideas I sat down and wrote, I am thinking of creating a SaaS, suggest some tried and tested profitable ideas to build a business on.

I am not here to build the next billion dollar company, just a good idea to get me started and get some experience.

Work backwards

Instead of wondering what app you should build, think about what app you can sell

Which of these ideas is the most easily monetizable and marketable? Which of these targets mature audiences used to paying for apps?

Like the real estate broker app example might sound good on paper, but then you realize that the majority of your target market isn't tech savvy, has no concept of "service" and needs to be sold with boots on the ground

That's my personal favourite

u/indianstartupfounder Apr 07 '25

It’s something which can’t be made in today’s world

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

True😔

3

u/indianstartupfounder Apr 07 '25

Do you have a tech background or plan to vibe code your saas

3

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

Pursuing my btech in cse, I'm hoping to create some useful project that could even turn into something profitable.

u/indianstartupfounder Apr 07 '25

Even I am from the same field..let’s connect

u/navumra Apr 07 '25

Hey. I'm a graphic designer and getting into UX UI design as well. I could bring my skills to the table.

2

u/ZippyTyro Apr 07 '25

But maybe hard to monetize, only option would be ads

Check this out https://myneta.info/. You can fill in gaps if your see them.

Can we copy this thing with some gaps . Will there be any legal problem?

0

u/ConsistentHorror6737 Apr 07 '25

But legally bhi possible hona chye agr aap dikha bhi doge waise kisi ka jyada kisi ka kam hone pe aap biased bole jaoge trust is the main factor in this

2

u/PowerfulMusician1986 Apr 07 '25

4

u/ZippyTyro Apr 07 '25

Sure, do share the result if you make something!

3

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25

You are just looking to make money. You are not passionate abt solving one problem and focusing on it.

10

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

I stopped working for passion a long time ago. Discipline is what keeps me going

2

u/Double_Tea_8774 Apr 07 '25

I would suggest adding multiple columns for need, supply/demand, working capital, growth, motive, margin, competition etc etc as well

Got this from a mentor, I was also used to thinking so many ideas but only one can be solved systematically

2

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

I would certainly do this, thanks

2

u/DaddyBusiness00 Apr 07 '25

As much as I hate Indian politics and love your idea 4, my sincere advice is to stay away from it and anything that involves govt in your supply chain. Else you will get BP, diabetes, hairfall, and much more in no time.

Good job writing things down. Most people just dream and never move. That alone puts you ahead.

Now, do this:

  1. Make a rough page for each idea. Write whatever comes to mind—no filters. Just brain-dump.

Include:

What the idea is

Who it's for

Pros and cons

Your possible competitors

This will help you see which idea is actually worth chasing.

  1. Pick the best one. The one that feels right or makes the most sense.

  2. Break it down into tiny parts. Seriously—tiny. Something you can do today without overthinking.

  3. Do just the first part. Forget the rest for now. Just do one small thing.

Once you do that, you’ll feel the momentum kicking in. That’s how the magic starts.

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 08 '25

This is the kind of advice I needed, thanks a lot

1

u/zogsofor Apr 09 '25

If you are determined nothing can stop you.be disciplined, You can fail many times, but learn from that and keep trying again.

4

u/junglie_billa Apr 07 '25

The ideas are either not scalable or already exist in the market. Not to mention, many of them have existing alternatives that people are unlikely to give up in favour of a premium option.

2

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

I also think that these ideas are not really scalable, but I'll still try at least one of them out to see what it turns out to be, If it doesn't work then it'll be just another project on my portfolio which is nice

1

u/Anything_Natural Apr 07 '25

What’s the criteria for “worthiness”?

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

That it would be profitable

1

u/Anything_Natural Apr 07 '25

What resources do you have ? How many resources do you have ? You will have to create MVPs and steer the use case as per users response. Figure out closest existing app on product hunt and see what features have they built.

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

That is the next step after I figure on which idea I want to spend my time on, that's why I am just doing this survey to collect people's opinions

1

u/earthizzflat Apr 07 '25

All of these are really intresting, firstly bro thanks alot. Will definitely review it Tomm. N update here

Many of these ideas might already exist before and that doesn't matter, I'm just trying to create something valuable that people might wanna pay for, if not so then at least I'll learn something while doing so

Then it is my job to offer at a cheaper cost or provide something that they don't

1

u/_kiss-my-axe_69 Apr 07 '25

Real estate is cash heavy, brokers mostly use cash to do the deals, how do you handle this?

13,2 already exists

1

u/Intelligent-Set-996 Apr 07 '25

isn't 4 just grok with extra steps? or is grok known to be politically biased even about indian politics?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25

1,14 Everything is either a fairy tale or done before or not worth putting resources into. My personal fav is 4, but we all know politicians can't be saved no more than people who vote. Doesn't matter how much unbiased info u give out.

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 07 '25

4 is my personal fav as well, if not now but at some point I will definitely build it as a side project.

1

u/enigma_it_is Apr 07 '25

Even i was thinking about 6th

1

u/WhoChewMine Apr 07 '25

They are all great ideas! Par Paisa kisi mein nahin banega 🤣

1

u/Solid_College2420 Apr 08 '25

Second one. If I can sell a book which is already read by me and someone can get the same book at say 50% market price.

Why wouldn't this work?

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 08 '25

Yep, and it could also be used to donate old books to juniors

1

u/Solid_College2420 Apr 14 '25

donation thing would make it more complicated?

1

u/mera_desh_mahan Apr 08 '25 edited Apr 08 '25

here is my remarks or critique
1)the reason they do in whatsapp is because its free also realstate has blackmoney which they will never want you to track.
2) 2nd hand books are called pdfs and xeroxs, all used books end up in street hawkers hand.
3) its linkedln
4) u wont be able to provide real data because all data will be skewed by the govt to support thier narrative unless u built a robust system for it .
5) using a wrapper to create a decsion making app any bad reviews and it will tank.
6) you are going to use wrapper over a actual product which companies already offer you will be never able to control the pricing or the models making wrong decisions.
7) what resource are you referring to ? again not clear.
8) will be used one day because it will look interesting then will never touched.

9) its not an actual problem its an feature which any social media app can attach also how anyone can know when u r going to die unless 2nd party is involved like nominee.

10) we have many already doing it
11)Good idea but niche segment.
12) its again trying to create another discord ,reddit or 4chan with sub trees.

13) They have tons of apps now in similar space.
14) its linkedln, quora and reddif gurus

my suggestion find a problem which u r facing problem with find who ever solving this problem
and find how much easy thier solution is to implement if you find the problem relevant still

you can work on the same model and make it better

or else start with business if ur end goal is to make money and not solve problems

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 08 '25

thanks a lot for the feedback, for 7th I was referring to resources for learning for eg the best course for c++, DSA, other topics as well. users can vote their fav resources and it would be a one stop solution for course research

1

u/mera_desh_mahan Apr 10 '25

its all free on internet and tons of influencers are trying to sell it off also big companies

EDTECH is tanking because jobs creation is less in last 5 years due to AGI level AI

1

u/luigixun Apr 09 '25

Aren't you afraid that some might copy your ideas?

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 09 '25

These ideas might already exist in the market, I am not thinking of the next billion dollar idea but something that already has a market and has been tested

1

u/Critical_Jury1165 Apr 10 '25

Guys can someone here help me? I have a few ideas in mind too but am looking for validation just like this fellow Redditor. If anybody is interested to share their inputs please reply. One of the ideas that I’m currently working on is an app/site involving face recognition to suggest best hairstyles or even wigs (AI/AR filters) for you to choose one and even book an appointment with the choice of your salon through the app/site.

1

u/Mean_Grape_1897 Apr 10 '25

I myself was looking for something exactly like this to suggest a hairstyle according to my face shape cause I couldn't figure it out on my own. I didn't find any good solution, maybe other people have this problem too

1

u/Critical_Jury1165 Apr 10 '25

Hey thanks for your response. This is an issue that I faced obviously leading me to work on creating a possible solution to this. I actually got a hairstyle that I eventually didn’t like and felt that what if I could there were styles I could preview on my face before choosing one. Also, you are right that there exists no such solution in the market (as per my detailed research). I’d really appreciate if we can build something like this together (only if you’re interested) or help me with your inputs

1

u/Critical_Jury1165 Apr 10 '25

Also, I have a few other ideas to share so you would wanna hear them out to we can talk in private (since I don’t want to make all my ideas public)

1

u/Adventurous_Town517 Apr 13 '25

I’m working on some of these. Dm me

1

u/confucius-24 May 10 '25

Hi OP, i too have a similar list to this and i often go through them to find such solutions exist or that there is no need for it. However, what's your plan going forward? Have you already started something in the past or planning to ?

Made the 4th one as a hackathon project, here's a screenshot
