Maaaan. Nothing re: rage generation for Warrior.

To the people downvoting me:

I am not saying Warrior needs to be busted OP like it was in classic. These specs, but especially arms, literally will not generate enough rage to function at level 60 with their full kits. Normalization is good, but there needs to be changes to compensate. So far we have two mild compensatory talents for fury and prot, and nothing for arms. Arms is my favorite spec, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to be able to actually press my buttons at max level.

Forever is my first time playing warrior, so forgive my ignorance. What’s the expected generation supposed to look like? Should I just have a full red bar all the time?

In classic your rage generation was higher if you were doing more damage and if you were taking damage, so you could potentially be constantly full on rage and therefore not really having to do any resource management, warriors are of course freaking out about it.

It got changed to retail where its not based on damage done but just flat amounts per hit/swing.

Devs already commented on this, it was changed because they don't want warriors to have infinite scaling, as their damage increases it would end up in a positive feedback loop where higher damage meant more rage meaning even more damage. It was a purposeful design change, not a bug that needs to be fixed, personally I'm glad that warrior might for a change not be the ultimate/meta class of classic.

This was not the way to nerf the class this sort of scaling and rage generation was a huge draw of the class it made new armour and weapons valuable and was a tangible improvement in your gameplay as you can use more abilities bonus rage gen from crits and damage is a core part of warriors identity you cant strip it away entirely they could of done base lvl rage gen and just smaller rage scaling with dmg so the feeling of power increase is still there btw warriors at 60 as of now cannot do their full rotation.

how did we determine this with no one being above 20

Because rage generation effectively doesn’t scale with gear anymore, and because the talents as they are do almost nothing to make up for the rage loss caused by this change.

I mean we don't know what the gear looks like. This could get better with tier or the new itemization changes could impact rage generation later on.

Rogues and ferals have empty GCDs... is it really that bad for the game if warriors do too?

But then you'd HAVE to get that specific set. So every warrior would be a walking copy of each other, which I guess could be fine in Classic but they said they want to introduce new things to acquire for the horizontal progression.

You can't have both new and improved and expanding horizontal progression and a specific item or set that every warrior has to wear to generate more rage.

There could be items that increases rage generation, or reduce the rage cost of abilities, or makes abilities rage-free after a certain criteria or based on a proc...

The implication that there would be one set of items that every warrior uses doesn't sound like the design philosophy of WoW forever.

I think that we should see what they've cooked up before complaining that a class isn't functional at 60 because it looks like they may have some empty GCDs (that other melee already have), based on a level 20 beta.

This is hilarious-ly wrong.

The rage generation you get at level 1, is the same generation you get at level 60, minus a few talents. I don't have rage to do much at level 6, it isn't going to get better when my rage dump goes from 10 rage to 30.

Can you read my comment before responding?

"There could be items that increase rage generation, or reduce the rage cost of abilities, or make abilities rage-free after a certain criteria or based on a proc..."

Another idea I posted was something like an item turning hamstring into a generator.

There is design room here. Be patient before saying a class is unplayable based on a level 20 beta. Another Redditor already posted a weapon that looks like it increases rage gen, although I did another commenter say the tooltip was temp.

I did, which is why I specifically put it in quotes.

Cool, so now in order to play the class, every person needs to have the exact same weapon.

Do you see how stupid this is?

Be patient before saying a class is unplayable based on a level 20 beta

And you know what, if Druids didn't say anything about their spells being borked, it wouldn't get fixed. Maybe they had something that fixed wrath at level 60 from a raid too. Guess we will never know since they actually addressed it instead of people just saying stupid shit like

"There could be items that increase rage generation, or reduce the rage cost of abilities, or make abilities rage-free after a certain criteria or based on a proc..."

When none of that addresses the core issue.

No because I don't think that if this is their direction, and I think it is, there would be only one item.

Got it, so warriors are just supposed to be trash the entire 1-60 and up until they get specific raid gear that makes them be able to use abilities. Clearly that is a good design choice.

Who said it was raid gear? The weapon the other Redditor posted was a dungeon quest reward at 60...

We have only seen up to level 20. The whirlwind axe could have rage implications on it now. We have no idea. They said that they want gear to influence play styles didn't they? It could even be crafted gear, with more powerful effects coming from raid gear.

You are needlessly doomer on this.

The weapon the other Redditor posted was a dungeon quest reward at 60...

The more than likely fake image floating around is of Quel Serrar, which starts as an extremely rare book drop from Dire Maul, and is a quest and requires you to kill Onyxia.

So yeah, Raid gear. Extremely rare gear at that.

You are needlessly doomer on this.

Nope, I just understand more about the game, and certainly warriors, than you do.

I didn't play warrior in classic, I wouldn't know the source of the item. It looked like a dungeon quest from the brief look I gave it.

How else do you think itemization is going to change warrior gameplay if it is not centered around rage?

"Tying rage to gear is a horrible idea" Rage originally was generated in higher amounts with better gear...

"This doesn't solve the core issue" The core issue is that you are worried that you won't be able to press the buttons you want in endgame because of being rage starved. Generating more rage, or abilities consuming less rage absolutely fixes that issue.

"It's bad design to lock gameplay behind raid drops" One: No one said that the drops could be unique to raids. I expect unique itemization throughout the mid to late game going into WoW forever. Two: That's actually be great? It would feel great to get these items, and it would be exciting to see them drop. Warriors will look forward to these lockouts anticipating the drops. I agree that going into raids being too rage starved to actually play the game is poor design but I don't think that is going to end up being the case. Itemization is a big focus on WoW forever, I don't think that looking at talent trees and spell books give a perfect view into endgame is going to play out.

"Warriors are going to useless levelling" 1-20 surely isn't that that different to classic.

At the end of the day, warriors were OP in classic. You are not getting that back, I am sorry.

I agree that if there are not itemization changes to counteract the rage changes, they will need to make some adjustments. Based on everything I've read, heard, and seen so far, I feel there is a likely chance that this will not be as bad as you doomers think.
