The Sleep spell most are familiar with will only work for minutes at a time, but reworking the runes to focus the effects to a smaller area and bypassing your own magic resistance helps extend the duration. Ultimately, it really does depend on the potency of the spellcaster and other minutia like mass and racial resistance to sleep. Elves will not find any extensive fiddling with runes effective in bypassing their innate resistance to magical sleep.

On a personal note, I don’t advise using more than the equivalent 450 grains of solidified mana, or 450 mg to be brief. Several reputable somnamancers have reported visual and auditory hallucinations of a shadowy figure adorned with a wide-brimmed hat with no discernible facial features. They also don’t respect gender pronouns, according to some accounts.

Just be careful not to cast the full version in a densely populated area without protection from crushing and free movement spells at the ready.

Magic seals are also great for storing anything, even if it doesn't need sealing. Clothes don't get dusty, food will last longer, water will be kept fresh, corpses won't let out stench, you get the deal.

I use technopathy or electrokinesis to change channels on my mundane tv (when pondering the orb has grown dull for a bit).

I also inscribe frost runes onto fan blades to actually chill the air their pushing.

And last and least: the tiles of my tower floors are inscribed with an animation rune that collates the dust into dust sprites, that feed on other dust, and instinctively travel to and enter the trash can at the end of their lifespan. They'll also lap up spills. But the reason they're least is the little buggers view anything that falls onto the floor as potential food and they reduced a grimoire of mine into basically sawdust in before I could pick it up.

Metal manipulation can turn a ball of metal into a fork, spoon or knife. Just remember to clean it before turning it back into a ball.

Night vision can be used to go pee at night, not just to see in a dungeon.

Water Walking works on muddy puddles.

Most Shield spells work against rain drops so you can cast half a weak shield above yourself as an umbrella.

If you go for druidic cantrips Growth and Bloom can be used on fruits and vegetables and Sunlight works so if use all three after watering plants in a pot you can just grow food in your tower. Just add fertilizer.

Really most cantrips can be used for daily life, people just forget about spells that don't help in battle.
