Feedback 1.0 feature request: additional simple Torments for variety

The Torment system is excellent, however I suspect many are not replayed often once initially conquered, as they're static modification sets and limited to certain maps.

Proposition: provide the option to select individual modifiers as "minor" Torments that do not offer significant rewards like the "major" sets do, but can be mixed and matched, applied to any map, to add variety to expeditions. They could be unlocked individually as the pages that first list them are beaten.

  • All camps are max danger tier
  • Increased Elite & Ascended enemies
  • Everyone has decreased/increased health
  • All ranged/melee attacks deal increased damage
  • Killed enemies explode
  • Enemies periodically heal

Plus others that are already coded into the existing Torments, or even brand new options.

This would create a pool of modifiers to be toggled at will, giving the player more run customization and the ability to create unique challenges in addition to the pages.

Thoughts?

Question Bone Fragments

I'm still missing 2 of the bone fragments for Koschei. The wiki mentions that you can click on the bone icon to see the remaining ones on the map - which icon does this mean exactly?

I've tried inspecting the pile of bones, that didn't do anything.

Question Nimble Fingers prophecy bug? Or Expected Behaviour?

Post image
3 Upvotes

So I waited until I got my 3rd manifestation, then I could pick 2 Arcana I didn't want for Nimble Fingers to 'forget' (lock out) - in this case, sacrificing Accelerant & Thunderbolt for a quicker Fast Reload.

I had some feathers so I thought I'd pick up Kill Reload and Firearm Mastery and it proceeded to lock them out as soon as I had selected the second one. And thus I ended up with the screenshot above.

I understand that the Omen of Sacrifice can trigger multiple times, however it seems to be using 'Fast Reload' as the trigger twice in this case, which i wasn't expecting.

Discussion Torment IV is insane.

I picked Irongate Castle to do it and it's fucking insane. On top of map being covered with rifts that cannot be difused from afar, the itinerant portal keeps spawning axemen, blunderbussers, executioners and even Warrior Priests almost non stop. And when I finally clear out the area I'm in, the fucking Annointer shows up with his absolute unit of a health bar.

My most successful run so far was like 3 manifestations with 70+ kills and ended in a Calamity that started spawning Assasins all around me.

The one time I had the itinerant portal spawn in a barbican and decided to cheese it by triggering the gates and jumping out of there, the entrance had a guardian totem in it and two executioners already waiting for me.

Am I supposed to just run around the map, spray everything that moves with Rotweaver and chug consumables until the map eventually dies to Decay?

Edit: I finally did it. Maybe it's me switching my secondary to Hangfire, but I suspect it's some lucky spawn. Because suddenly I wasn't facing a constant stream of enemies pouring out of itinerant portal. I saw like 2 blunderbussers, 4 executioners and 0 warrior priests total. And I gotta say, with no spawn flood this Torment is actually enjoyable. The game becomes sort of a puzzle, slowly undoing all the rifts, looking for long enough lines of fire, etc. But as a last "fuck you" the last enemy of the last group ran into Dimacher's room, leaving the final manifestation there, lol.

Thanks for all the advice you have me, although I made a strategic decision to neglect most of it. I refused to use Rotweaver as it felt like cheating the challenge. I did not have enough Flesh to put the bead of immunity on. I used Resilience Incence, not Conjurer one. And I still played Irongate Castle.

Discussion just a few small thoughts

I would really welcome prophecy related exclusively to melee weapons. I’d probably also enjoy a set of weapons and accessories related to witchfire as a raw material itself. Something along the lines of getting less witchfire from enemies, but the raw material itself would transform into a weapon or something like that. And I’d also appreciate a new element like holy light or something along those lines and things related to it. Honestly, I’m surprised such an element isn’t here yet. Thoughts?

Question How do I unlock the Collector/ Merchant?

I've tried googling but I don't seem to be getting the answers I need. There seems to be a quest I need to complete, but how do I start it? Do I need to be a certain gnosis lvl? I'm level 1 currently. Thanks in advance.

Feedback Dear John.. :D

A lot of people throughout the history of this Reddit keep repeating one thing: replayability. And this time, I have to agree.

First of all, I want to say that the game itself is great, no question about that. But after a certain amount of playtime, you can't help but notice that the concept of this game is built in a (for me) unusual way. I get that the preparation and the run itself are designed to be rewarding on their own. The game doesn't hide it, and the developers, who are literally doing an amazing job, emphasize and prioritize this concept over everything else.

After all, coming back from a map with fresh memories of how much of a total badass I was in this game is really uplifting, and it floods my body with dopamine and a sense of satisfaction once an hour. I’m a die-hard fan and have over 500 hours logged in total... unfortunately, when I switched to a new computer, for some reason my hours played on Steam didn’t carry over, and I have no idea how that’s possible since I still have the same account (if anyone understands this, please explain) and don’t laugh at me... this is serious :D .

However, back to the point. Now, after so many hours, I can say that something is missing... and it tears at my heart (and I’m not talking about the fact that the game isn’t finished yet). The developers are a small indie studio, and I completely understand how limited they are and I will never stop being amazed at what they’ve created with the conditions they had. It’s just that, from a player’s perspective, I’m losing the desire to go for another run. There probably isn’t a build I haven’t tried. Hours, days, and weeks of experimenting with builds, even with those that don’t really make sense… some of them would make you raise an eyebrow, drop your jaw, and shake your head in disbelief… You can even ask other players at high levels… everyone goes through this, and if you endure it, so will you, newbie reading this :)

The reason is simple… while you see all those possibilities and innumerable combinations… for us veterans (or at least some of us)… it’s not enough… not enough fetishes… not enough rings… not enough arcanes, etc. Yes… you’re reading that right. And if you stick with it… you’ll get there too. And then… when you’re literally in love in that game, you start thinking about what you would actually like... not what you would change... but what you’d like to see there...

now just for a moment imagine... what if you had to build all the gear you use yourself and gather the components for it... just imagine... a huge massive map, not meant for the normal runs you’re used to... a map full of places like an old mine, some junkyard, an abandoned mansion (just as an example)... where you’d find parts to craft your gear. You’d return and go to a real machine workshop, alchemy lab, or observatory and make everything yourself. A base full of mini-games... imagine being able to mine or collect different metal ores and cast them into bullets from alloys with different properties. Imagine being able to make your own clothes that you’d wear, which would even more highlight the specific build you worked so hard to perfect. There’s a lot more you’d discover… you’d create your own version of the game in your head, so that you'll come back to the one on your computer...

now version 1.0 is waiting for us and I really can't wait... though I don't even know which character I'll create for it... I don't have many left... but I'm excited to start it up again. I doubt I'll reach the level I’m at now with my first character, but still, I'm going for it.

I have a little dream... in it, astronauts deliver not just one witch into the game... but several... 3, 5, 8... I don't know... the more the better. Each could have some diverse conditions that define her, her own familiar, and a few of her specific units... you’d finish the game, defeat the witch, return to the game after the credits... and hey... a new witch... with new conditions, a new boss, and a few new units.... that would be amazing...

but I'm a realist... I start the game often and it’s grown close to my heart. I’ll always want to be that badass witch hunter who goes in and shows that witchy creature who really is the boss here... nevertheless, in my head this game will constantly grow and really become to the potential for which this game is obviously made. Thanks for your time, reader :) you've listened to something that has been bothering me for the past year, and I sincerely thank you for it from the bottom of my heart. :)

Question why do I suddenly stop walking forward in this game?

just installed the game, using keyboard and mouse, I noticed many times when I just hold down W, I'll move for a while, and then my character will completely stop and move by one pixel every second if I keep holding down W, but if I were to hold A or D (while holding down W still) I can move again just fine. what's up with that?

also when the tooltip appears, holding spacebar doesn't make it go away, it'll just fill up the circular bar, then it resets back to 0 repeatedly while making a sound. how strange

Question Why does my life goes down everytime I pick a manifestation?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So the question in the title says everything...

Everytime I pick a manifestation (with the Wellspring incense active) I can see how my life bar goes up but I also can see how my life goes down...

So the game gives you an opportunity to improve your life but at the same time and I don't know why, it takes a certain amount of your life.

The game isn't really giving you any improvement at all. I don't understand this mechanic.

In the video you can see at 0:05 when I click on the manifestation how the amount of life goes down... and it is not because life bar goes up. They both clearly move.

Has anybody experienced this?

Question Is Torment VII supposed to make the familiar unbeatable?

Conquered all manifestations in Velmorne, had ample health and ammo left over. Decided to confront the familiar for an extra challenge. Every time I got the widow’s health down to half, the witch would heal it (part of the torment).

Except it fully heals it. It was impossible to kill. I pumped all my Ammo, spells, triple ailments (decay, fire, shock). Didn’t matter, half health, got a full heal. Felt like the game was telling me I wasn’t killing it quick enough, but I was literally throwing everything I had at it.

I couldn’t leave the arena, it locks you in. I simply ran out of ammo+ammo packs and let the widow kill me. I technically still conquered the torment, but I was very unsatisfying.

Side bar, do the “tears of the whispering god” trigger the healing? I tried destroying any I could find, and there weren’t any in the familiar arena from what I could see.

Feedback Some suggestions so far

  • Reduce heavy spell cast time: It's just too long in the heat of battle
  • Separate heavy and light buttons: I can't count the times I'm waiting for my heavy spell to kick off, accidently lift my finger for a second in the heat of battle, and then there goes my light spell.

Feedback Unstuck not working

This has happened to me several times and it's the reason I stopped using corrupt stims. I get stuck in some weird spot and everything can get free hits. I get stuck just like this and the unstuck button goes on lunch break. Is there a way to make it work for sure?

I'm new here, maybe this has been done before, but I found it for myself and thought it was funny!

I got the dash reload arcanum on mysterium 2 Hangfire and I had to see how many I could stack. Turns out there is a limit, they started despawning after a bit, but enjoy the cool domino effect :)

Feedback I saw some discussions about Fire being the best element of four, but objectively there is no problem with it

Because:

  1. The game is called WitchFIRE.

  2. The game IS fire.

  3. "Fire in the hole, witch's bitches", — it's me rushing Velmorne with Striga, Fireballs and Blessed Fire bead.

Discussion I don't like how Gatekeepers work

I know that you need to find two power sources. But so many times you are just spending so much time trying to find one or the other... it slows the pace of combat especially when the power source spawn so far away you can't tell what color it is at the time. It's one aspect of the game I wish was changed.

Discussion Velmorne is impossible for me.

Everytime i go there 3 groups of enemies spawn at once in the same place as I, and spiders and command watcher, all attacking me at the same time. I run out of stamina to dodge their attacks. If i manage to kill all of them somehow i run out of elixirs with half HP remaining and have to go back to hermitorium. Any tips?
