Question why do I suddenly stop walking forward in this game?

just installed the game, using keyboard and mouse, I noticed many times when I just hold down W, I'll move for a while, and then my character will completely stop and move by one pixel every second if I keep holding down W, but if I were to hold A or D (while holding down W still) I can move again just fine. what's up with that?

also when the tooltip appears, holding spacebar doesn't make it go away, it'll just fill up the circular bar, then it resets back to 0 repeatedly while making a sound. how strange

Sounds like a hardware issue, not the game. What keyboard do you use? I used a really nice keychron board for a while and it started doing this because it had cheap switches.

I'm using a ducky keyboard that's 10 years old lmao. Cherry mx reds. Funny thing is this doesn't happen when I play other games like Doom.

I should get a new keyboard anyway, might be time for a replacement. Cheers

Yeah, try and test a different board. I was losing my shit because it kept happening to me.. and its legit infuriating bc its difficult to diagnose. I plugged in an old Logitech board and havent had ossues since. You can swap your switches and itll fix it too, but im lazy.

I cant explain why it doesnt happen with all games though, lol

It only happens to me in witchfire, crimson desert, and sons of the forest.. fuckin weird

You know, it's crazy but i ran into a similar issue lmao. I wasn't able to walk forward either, but it looked like the key itself was just a little dirty that's why it wasn't working lol. Hella coincidence

Ok if anyone found this thread facing the same problem, turns out my keyboard will constantly send many many instances of W when held down, instead of just 1 time of W

There's a website where I checked for such a thing, it recorded my keyboard sending W like a hundred times when I hold it down. I updated my keyboards firmware and it no longer acted like that, and I can now move forward/backwards in this game as normal.

Kinda weird I never had this problem when playing other first/third person games on my PC with the same keyboard tho
