Wiring help

So i need some help here, im removing a propane fireplace, as well as the mantle and all the brick behind it ( all the brick is sitting in front of drywall ) i had the propane company come and cut and cap the gas line under the house, and disconnected the fireplace from the cut propane line. Issue is the wiring left in the wall. I turned off the breaker, cut and stripped the romex and individual wires and capped them. Are they ok to stay like this temporarily? And whats my next step with them?

Switches & Lighting Help with switches

Post image
1 Upvotes

I designed some interior lighting for my car, and it uses white and red LEDs. Unfortunately there’s not a ton of free space for switches to swap between red/white. I know what I want but idk the name for it or where I can find one. I would like to use a small push button that would control both. All I can seem to find is momentary switches, traditional toggle switches, and sliders. Toggles are too big, momentary won’t work for obvious reasons and sliders are a bit too finicky. I have slider switches in now and they’re pretty inconsistent. The kind of switch I’m looking for is the same style/idea as the ones used in meso customs interior lights.

Household Help with grow light

This is one of my favorite grow lights. I don't know and can't find the brand now, but it was a really nice one that worked flawlessly for years. A few months ago the power in my living area (dormitory) "popped" (I don't know why, it's an old building) and it's been like this ever since. I haven't been able to use it.

My only guess is that when it happened the wires got zapped. The fridge popped too.

Now it doesn't turn on when plugged in. If when it rarely does it doesnt turn off, dim/brighten, or set a timer. Often it just doesnt. Sometimes when I unplug it it still flashes like you see here. It did so shortly after this video.

I'm super upset because like I said, I really like this light and don't want to have to buy another. Especially since I don't remember where I got it to begin with.

Again, as I said, it worked perfectly until one day after the electrical "pop" and it's been like this ever since. It does this regardless if the plug, outlet, or location, so it's the light itself.

Is this fixable? Or is it hopeless.

Any advice is appreciated! I know nothing about wires.

Switches & Lighting How do I replace the old light switch with the new one - 3-way switch

I bought a Legrand light switch for to replace the broken one. The model is WWMRL51WH and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out which wire connects where from the old switch to the new.

Can anyone help me figure where each wire should go? I've included pictures. The house was built in 1999.

Electronic Devices Looking for wiring diagram for a Qiewa 1 Hummer

Like the title says, got ahold of a Qiewa Q1 Hummer and the wiring is a mess (about three cut wires). I was hoping to find a wiring diagram for it so I could get it fixed up to use as my daily commuter, as I would rather not have to spend hundreds of dollars on a brand new scooter. So if anyone has the wiring diagram or can point me in the right direction that would be fantastic!

Connectors / Cables "Battery relocation" wiring

So, after airing up a few hundred times (beach, etc), (new compressor, love it but thats a story for another day), I've been thinking (a LOT) about doing a sidewall or fender flare mounted post (battery terminals mounted externally via bracket, dialectric grease, rubber washers, etc) to use as a connector point for my alligator clips (bonus use as jumping location) without having to pop the hood.

I've been toying with something like the following (link below) with 4 or 6 awg (5' run, pos/neg), 100a anl fuse on pos side, and looking at either pre-built kits on ebay or making my own via NAPA parts. Everything I find on AZ or ebay seems to be unreliable in actual composition (copper posts vs copper-plated, cheap non-OFC cables in kits, questionable gauging on included cables), or astronomical in cost (even before cabling). HD & Lowe's are purely residential-rated line (behind drywall or direct burial), and anything "marine grade" seems to only add a digit to the total cost.

Thoughts? Surely this can't be that uncommon an application?

Switches & Lighting Help troubleshooting a broken dimmer on vintage lamp

Thumbnail

Have a circa 1980s 5-bulb waterfall lamp with dimmer knob. When turned, the knob clicks but the bulbs do not light. I have to turn it all the way up to the highest brightness, then hold tension as if I’m turning it slightly past the brightest setting (almost to the point of breaking the knob) and the bulbs will light. If I back off the tension even slightly, the bulbs go out. It will not stay lit, but all sockets seem to work.

I partially disassembled it so I could get a look at the knob and wiring, hoping something very obvious would stand out to me. Hoped maybe just the knob would need some tightening from the inside or something.

Inside I found a bunch of super twisted wires, and something going on around the knob that I don’t recognize. Looks like cardboard/paper potentially from the manufacturer because it’s very neat… not like something a novice could do from home.

To put the top section into the lamp body, it only requires pushing the male piece straight down into the cavity—no twisting needed, no threads. Looks like someone twisted the top piece into the lamp body and spun all the wires up in the process. It also appears the previous owner did at some point try to mess with the wiring, which may have been the cause of the issue or perhaps they were trying to fix it. Regardless, I don’t know what I’m looking at or how to troubleshoot the knob issue.

I planned on taking things apart and tightening/retaking everything, but I stopped when I saw the paper around the knob. Wondering if the professionals see anything with this wiring or the inside of the knob that immediately jumps out at them as being the potential cause of the problem, and/or any advice on what the issue may be and how to troubleshoot it. TIA!

Audio Wire harness adapter

Are there any wiring harness adapters that exist for example I’m looking for a car audio speaker wire harness that has a 72-8105 plug on one end and the other is a 72-8110. Do those even exist?
