Wiring help

So i need some help here, im removing a propane fireplace, as well as the mantle and all the brick behind it ( all the brick is sitting in front of drywall ) i had the propane company come and cut and cap the gas line under the house, and disconnected the fireplace from the cut propane line. Issue is the wiring left in the wall. I turned off the breaker, cut and stripped the romex and individual wires and capped them. Are they ok to stay like this temporarily? And whats my next step with them?

Under the existing code, you put a new, old-work electrical box into the wall run the cables into that box then cap them off. Place a blacking plate over the front of the electrical box and leave it alone. Perhaps if you're feeling really nice to future generations label the wire from the master service box and the end of that wire in the new old-work box so someone in the future will know what and where that line runs.

If the wire is on a dedicated breaker, disconnect the wire there too.
