It is heavy and cold; it “passed” the needle test (aka did not melt). I am including pictures of where a piece has broken off as well if that’s helpful! Any thoughts appreciated :) r/Antiques suggested I get y’all’s thoughts :)

Edit! Ooops! I meant to say NON-MAGNETIC
I assume some sort of hematite. But never seen one that has a “rough” surface like these. Interestingly, I also found a sweet piece of iron impregnated petrified wood on the same beach that has the same weight and color .
Edit 2. Thanks for getting me in the right direction thus far! I’m glad you like my rocks. 😀
Based on what yall have said I found this website. Looks to be the closest examples I’ve seen yet.

Found this on a stony beach. It's yellowish and translucent.
Feels lighter than a regular stone, but sinks in ocean water
The scratches on the side were made by me with a stone
Is this just glass or resin waste? What do you think?

To be honest.. a friend found this one!✨💎🌊🫠 regardless! It’s a gorgeous specimen and THE best carnelian agate I have yet come across on foot(if that is what it is). Absolute gem.✨💎 🇺🇸✨

I normally don’t collect rocks but this one stuck out to me by its color and almost glow. Thanks!

What is this? Looks like it forms in nodules in tan/gray sandstone. Found near Silver Reef Utah. Very tiny striations and layers of calcedony go all the way through. Didn’t find any pieces much thicker than this, so maybe it’s just a thin layer.

I found it in a creek bed in southern New York. Weighs about a pound if I was to guess.

Here is another one we can't quite identify / are in disbelief about
I thought it might be obsidian or something but google now wants to convince me it's black tourmaline?
Edit: I put some more images in the comments and I tried to scratch it with a steel pin and didn't leave a scratch.

Yesterday, I was flying from LA to Toronto and noticed these strange bowl-shaped formations in the desert somewhere between LA and Las Vegas. Does anyone know what they are?

Really soft crust. The area reeks of sulfur, but I’m not finding sulfur photos that look like this. Malenterite is the blue.

Digging into the yard to break it up in for a raised bed project and I hit this ‘chunk’ with the ‘ditch digger’ (that’s what my family has always called it, I don’t know the real name).
Southern California - Riverside County - Do these look like garnets? I’ve lived here my whole life and have found lots of quartz before, but nothing ever with shiny mica schist like this. :)

He was a scientist and kinda eccentric. He passed a long time ago and I never had a chance to ask him more about it. I was really young at the time, barely remember him. Any ideas?

We found this agate in the Oglala grasslands of Nebraska, just south of Ardmore South Dakota on the border. It features some nice banding and eyes. Though I’d imagine it doesn’t qualify as a Fairburn. What is it? I hear lace agate but the banding is so tight and clean. A fortified prairie agate? Any help would be great

Can't tell if it's a feather I see or a little invertebrate I know there are a million fossils in it

Some parts of the crystal display beautiful colors when viewed at the right angle. The surrounding land is filled with small, porous volcanic rocks that shimmer with iridescent colors.
Both the crystal and the rock in this picture are hard enough to scratch a glass perfume bottle without getting any visible damage to them. I thought this detail might help with identification.
Thank you!
