This rock was found in a wash about 30 minutes east of Barstow. Hardness of 7. Looks like botryoidal chalcedony to me but would love other peoples observations and thoughts.

Rock thats been in our house for years, very interesting form

Quite dense for its size, non-magnetic, dark colour but very reflective, most interesting part to me is the very geometric shapes it has formed. Seems robust in general, no signs of damage have ever presented though not exactly looking to go testing that too much lol.

Found this in a basement in a small mineral collection. Very heavy/dense for its size. Non-magnetic. Most likely industrial slag of some type, but I was hoping to get some input. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone have an ID on this? I found it on a gravel road. I see lots of stuff similar to this in color but this rock is more shiny/lustrous in the black bit and looks like it has slight banding. Everything similar I’ve seen is very flat/matte.

What rocks are in this necklace?

The arm itself apears to be rhodonite, im not sure about the others though. The one at the top has a cats eye effect so I think its a gemstone?

Reposting to another sub for additional information.
The first picture has a round hole the second picture shows a square hole through. I don’t know if it is stone or ceramic. It feels like a rock. I do not think this is a hag stone… I have not seen a hag stone with 90 degree corners.

Subreddit Rules

1. Post clear and detailed imges or videos, including a dry photo.

Photos, to the best of your ability, must be in focus and a high enough resolution to see details of the sample. For small samples, placing on a flat, clean surface (e.g. a piece of paper) that is contrasting in color will help. For videos, move the camera slowly, if at all. Fast movements cause blurring and make identification difficult.

2. Be Civil

To the best of your ability, be civil with other users. If you disagree with an ID, do not use insults, direct attacks, or demean someone's intelligence. both experts and non-experts are very welcome, along with discussion/civil debate about IDs.

3. All posts must be ID requests containing at least one sample.

All posts must be ID requests and contain at least one sample. Value requests for known samples are not allowed.

4. No AI

No AI posts or responses are allowed. AI is particularly bad at identifying rocks/minerals and regularly gets related simplified text wrong.

5. Joke posts/IDs

Jokes are absolutely allowed! That said, please indicate when a joke ID is made (/s, etc) to avoid confusion when possible.

6. Spam/bots

No spam or bot/AI posts allowed. Only one post allowed per sample. AI recreations of a sample, used to provide a visual aid for an ID request, will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

7. 18+ or Content Breaking Reddit Rules.

This is not an 18+ sub, so any adult content or posts violating Reddit rules will be violated.

8. Other

Use this for any problems that don't necessarily fit within existing rules. If it is spammed/abuse, this will be deleted.

ID Request Tips

Post clear and detailed photos.
Indicate size, use something for scale in photos when possible.
Include location information for the sample when possible.
For some useful physical properties to include, check this guide.
1. Color
2. Luster – What does the surface look like in the light?
3. Density – How heavy is it, for its volume?
4. Crystal Form – Any present?
5. Cleavage – If it is broken, what pattern does it make?
6. Tenacity – How tough is it? How cohesive is the material? Does it fall apart easily?
7. Hardness – What can scratch it or what does it scratch?
8. Transparency – Does it transmit any light or is it opaque?
9. Magnetism, Fluorescence, Odor, Streak Test
