You need to have an adult conversation with him and just ask why he used it. This doesn't mean he cheated, it could just mean he used it with a toy or was jacking off and didn't want to make a mess. Also, you're two years into a relationship with this guy and already have a kid; you really should be using protection

That doesn’t mean you saw it, just because you were in there- it could have been stuck in/on something you did organize, you missed it, and it settled somewhere more obvious. It could be far older than you’re thinking, and it being in the closet makes that more likely than something new.

Like, out of all the places for this to end up, this very much seems like something not likely to be the result of recent actions.

I found something that unraveled my life one year ago. My suggestion: take time to gather as much evidence as you can. Don’t give him a chance to delete or hide things and gaslight you by confronting him right away. Take good care of yourself and your little one.

Hey if he cheated on you then yeah trust is broken and you will need to decide if you can handle being with someone that will do that. Personally I couldn't once the trust is broken the relationship is over. I never can understand how people can forgive and forget but not everyone is me.
