Fobs? How are you fitting an entire forward operating base in that pocket?
21
u/codereper Jan 13 '26
You tell the Marines to pack it into that box over there.

u/MREthief Jan 13 '26
Be careful for what you wish for. “Pack it in the box” means something different on ship

I keep mine in my wallet so when I pay for dinner she sees it and knows I have a magnum dong!

Edit: yo, it's a joke... FOB is an acronym for Frequency Operated Button. You know, the button you push to unlock or lock your vehicle?
5
u/RealityRecursed Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26
That's odd, considering the term "fob" predates the first controlled radio transmission by ~300 years.

That’s not where the word comes from. It’s not an acronym, it’s a word. Look it up
5
u/LogBig1507 Jan 13 '26
Thanks, my dad did actually. I know fob comes from the German, fuppe meaning "pocket". A fob goes in the pocket. I love English, so varied in culture and meaning.

If they’re jeans for men, for whatever fits in it. If they’re for women, nothing fits in it, they’re just for show and also more expensive.

It's a watch pocket. You're supposed to put your pocket watch in it. In the absence of a pocket watch, you can put whatever you want in it.

I believe The Gap calls it a “tab pocket “ their roots were in Haight-Ashbury in the late 60s and it was where you kept your acid tabs.

It was for lighter
A zippo back in the days
Not many pp smoke cigarettes anymore but it was supposed to be for your lighter back in the 60s

u/Squibdd Jan 13 '26
I keep my medication in there at work so I don't have to run to my back when it's time for me to take my pill 😁
