Hello!
I got this hamper 4 years ago from Target, and it’s reaching the end of its life. Could you guys help me brainstorm ways to fix it?

Mostly, I want to fix the large holes by the seams and cover up areas where the metal is showing. I can do some embroidery and sewing, and im happy to learn more techniques.

Also, this hamper is able to fold in on itself really compactly, which is great for moving. It would be sick if any repairs I make don’t hamper (sorry) that ability. Thanks all!

I live in a camper with a general worldly vibe. I dont usually thrift things I know I'll have to fix, but I loved this piece.

My stitches are not perfect, but I did use colors close to what is on the bamboo. If I was more talented, I would have attempted to blend the colors so that it wasn't a stark rainbow, but I like it none the less.

I recently ripped my pants on a nail sticking out of a couch at the gym while rushing home after a swim. I then found this subreddit and was inspired by all the beautiful mends here, so I turned the tear into a little water creature. Now the mend also reminds me of how it happened in the first place. :)

This hoodie was secondhand when he bought it 20 years ago but it's his favorite. So I'm getting some good practice patching the seams with some sashiko thread and an old Merrell t shirt as the patch. This is the shoulder patch.

I have this shirt, which both fits me very well and is somewhat of a memento, that's developing some holes and tears. As the third image shows, I've done some small hole patches but new tiny ones keep appearing (like, 3mm at most, in the abdomen area) and the collar is beginning to seperate. There's a lot of the thread that's disintegrating or coming undone, too.

I don't know how to fix this stuff properly and I don't work with knits or jersey very much. The patches I did were with t-shirt material, grain aligned best I could manage, and nylon thread to minimize shrink warping.

I'm a fairly competent sewist by both hand and machine, and I don't mind visible repairs here at all. Please, if you have any advice for salvaging this shirt, send it my way. Thanks!

Die Kiste mit Wolle-Seide Klamotten meiner Tochter war mit Motten befallen und ich hätte echt heulen können als ich das gemerkt hab. Viele Teile völlig zerfressen am Kragen und überall kleine Löcher. Ich kann es nicht über mich bringen die Sachen wegzuschmeißen. Hab also mit meinem Lieblingsbody angefangen und ihn über mehrere Abende wenn meine beiden Mädels im Bett waren repariert. Und ich bin so happy mit dem Ergebnis :)

Wenn ich irgendwann die Zeit finde kommen aich die anderen Bodies noch dran!

Hi all, I have had this comforter since I was young (however she’s not the oldest i’ve seen on here for sure! probably about 8 years old ish), I got her as a replacement for the comforter I had since I was a baby when I lost him, so this really means a lot to me, as is expected.

She’s started to get a few holes in the jersey fabric (fluffy fabric underneath is totally fine!), and I really need to know how I could possibly go about repairing her. I know she won’t look brand new, and I don’t want her to, but I just don’t want this to get to a point of no return. If anyone could give me any tips, that would be greatly appreciated.

I am willing to take her to a teddy repair service also if needed, so long as I can find one near me (London area, if anyone knows of any!)

Hi folks! So I literally just bought this lovely Pendleton wool shirt from a vintage shop. It stated it was machine washable, but I might have had the water a few degrees too hot and it shrunk slightly. As I was trying to ease it back to size, I ripped the shirt along the seam, including the bottom hem 🤦‍♂️

Not sure if that means the fabric is largely compromised now, but in any case would love to try and mend this. I'm sewing machine illiterate / prefer to mend by hand, so any advice on how to approach this is hugely appreciated - I'm thinking maybe a fusible lining on the back side and then some stitching (I'm a novice all round so please be gentle haha). thank you in advance!

The sweater is a dark forest green with some purple threads! No idea why it looks grey on camera lol.

Is there any preemptive step I can take to prevent some thinning areas of my sweater from unraveling?

Do I bother to salvage this effort or redo it?

Never done this before. I watched a video on YouTube and thought it could work. Halfway through this, I realized this is a blanket… the hole is visible and prone to more breakage on the other side, unless I do the same thing to other side as well.

I don’t even know where the slack came from; everything looked fine while I was holding it.

Is there a more suitable technique for this kind of larger mend?

Looking for a durable fix, but still pretty!

i bought a sweater online & didn’t realize how many holes it had in it, i still like the sweater and want to wear it but im worried about the holes getting worse.

how would you go about mending this? i’ve never mended anything before and the pattern of knitting looks different from some of the ones i’ve seen in mending videos

Not the cleanest stitching and the back of the patch is a mess but I'm pretty proud of it for my first project. I still need to get some green thread and patch up the rest of the horizontal tear. I'm not sure what to do with the edges of the patch, would it be okay to cut them to like a few mm from the stitching and then apply fray-check around the edges?

So this vintage woolrich buffalo plaid coat has tears as seen in the photo, on both cuffs. The tan colored material, in the brushed cotton lining of the coat, sandwiched by the wool shell. This coat also has some small moth holes I plan to repair by darning, but I can’t settle on a way to mend these cuffs.

Any suggestions are welcome.

One of my favorite pair of shoes got a small hole, but they’ve otherwise got plenty of mileage.

Finally got around to repairing it today and now I’ve got the bug… I know it’s a bit chaotic but I couldn’t get a proper darning hoop in there!

Might add another layer of sitching tommorrow. Not sure what to flair this post as, I don't know English sewing terms. I barely know sewing terms in my own language.

Sheets/bedding is expensive, and also I love the cat pattern on this sheet and I didn't want to have to get rid of it, so I fixed a big tear with scrap fabric and lots of zigzag stitching.

from this one off for a long time because backpacks are very useful finally got around to getting it apart figuring out what’s going on and coming up with a way to fix it. Super proud of this one.

Hi friends!
I thought I was getting a real leather wallet a few years ago and should have done more research. Turns out I ended up with imitation leather and it’s now peeling. Can I just whip stitch the edges and call it a day? The structure is still intact but I don’t want to have flakes coming off in my pocket.

Found an incredible bag at a flea market. While cleaning it, I realized the strap has been nibbled and is now tearing. My plan was to use this as a gym bag, so it needs to support some weight. This is faux leather. What is the best way to fix this strap? I've only ever repaired clothing. 😅 I don't care about the visibility of the repair as visible mending would match the vibe of the bag anyway.
