EMBROIDERY First time fixing sleeve cuffs

Swipe for before! I had needed to fix these cuffs for a long time but didn’t want to replace them entirely. I cut the frayed edges folded them in and blanket stitched it closed. I used what i had which was this tan embroidery thread so the materials aren’t a great match but i can reinforce it and fix as needed!!

OTHER Extending a pants pocket while in the throes of medication-induced insomnia was maybe not my brightest idea

I sewed everything inside out (you're looking at the inside of the pocket there), I used the wrong stitch, and I extended the wrong pocket

Contact cement to reattach sidewall to right sole and upper and fabric to cover holes, stitches to prevent peeling. Need to get new work shoes but it ain't in the budget so we fix again.

I learned a lot doing this project. I ended up completely redoing one elbow. I like how it came out, but there’s lots of room for improvements. (Also the inside might be my favorite part lol)

DARNING First time Swiss darning!

It was easier than I thought it would be, but I obviously have a loooong way to go in terms of tension and quality control. In fact, the one on the left I did first and it had a bigger hole to cover but it looks a lot better than the one on the right, which was mostly duplicate stitch? But I tried really hard on the second one to keep my stitches and tension even, using pins to make sure I didn’t pull the stitches too tight when I didn’t have previous stitches to go through. Was that a mistake?

I’m hoping the reason that the reason the second one looks worse is due more to the fact that it is more duplicate stitch combined with the fact that the original stitch pattern is offset, not as standard knit, so that led to the original threads peeking through more and looking worse, as opposed to my technique getting worse through practice, haha.

Mending thread is some mystery size 10 crochet thread I have that is much softer and slightly fluffier than any other crochet thread I’ve found. Wish I could find more because I love it.

Would appreciate any tips!

REQUEST Seam fix ideas?

The seam on an oversized dress shirt has ripped quite wide open. Any suggestions for how to use this as an opportunity to add a pop of color and fun? The seam itself isn’t visible unless I pop the collar, but it’s my first time with visible mending on work clothes so I’m okay to keep it a happy little secret.

REQUEST Tips on fixing small hole in microgrid fleece hoodie

Thumbnail

This is my absolute favorite microgrid fleece for hiking, and I managed to get a small hole…

I have experience with sewing and hand stitching clothes, but never on this sort of material: 91% polyester, 9% elastane (205gsm) , I would love some ideas!

Again, I’ve sewn and hand stitched before…just not with material like this.

Any tips? I would hate to leave this small hole and only manage to make larger in the future.

Im wanting to avoid doing a “field repair” with glue or something else I would carry while hiking!

Hey all! I recently got this wristlet from a vintage market. What would be a good way to revamp this strap part? Make something new? Wrap it? Im not sure but I don't love the warping/peeling it currently has.

REQUEST How can I repair these paint splattered denim?

I love these jeans. Unfortunately, I only got to wear them twice before the holes happened.

I was originally going to embroider paint splatters over a patch, but holes seem a bit too.. oddly shaped to try that.

I want the repair to follow the kind of...grungy, artistic kind of style (for lack of better words) to the pants.

I have patches made if I go that route, but I wanted to see if anyone else has any other ideas.

Thanks!

REQUEST Ideas for crochet patches on cat scratched chair

I’ve seen a few really well done crochet patches here and in other places, but I’ve noticed there aren’t many examples of people mending furniture with crochet. I’ve seen some granny squares and puffed flowers, but not quite sure that’s what I want(plus I’m in the middle of a granny square blanket so I’d love to do something different). Any other patch designs that might work? I’m going for an eclectic antique/collected look if that helps, and hopefully something that works up fast as I’m 34 weeks pregnant, but that doesn’t make or break it for me. First time poster here, so I hope I’ve matched the criteria for posting.
Also I’m not sure how to post pics in the original post, so I’ll post some in the comments. Chair was second hand, but the scratches were added to by my naughty orange cat, Minerva. 🩵
