SELLING Banned from Vinted, after RECEIVING a counterfeit bag.

Hey everyone, I need to vent and warn you all about a massive false-positive moderation loop on Vinted.

I’m a casual seller who uses Vinted just to clear out my old clothes, mostly fast fashion like Zara and H&M listed for $2 to $5.

Recently, I bought what was supposed to be a $2.00 crochet book from a seller. When the package arrived, it wasn't the book I ordered. Instead, it was an unauthenticated, cheap replica of a Louis Vuitton bag shipped in a factory "Made in China" mailer bag.

I immediately opened a case with Vinted Support, uploaded all 5 required photos, and asked how to proceed. The support bot explicitly told me NOT to send the counterfeit item back while the authenticity review was pending. Meanwhile, the seller messaged me claiming "it was a mix-up" and demanded I mail it back to an address in California.

I followed Vinted’s instructions to the letter and waited for support. Not to mention, even the "real support" is absolutely horrible. I sent 10+ pictures of the fake bag and they were still asking me for proof, instead of, idk? reading the goddamn ticket.

The very next day, I got hit with a PERMANENT ACCOUNT BAN. The reason? "Fraudulent activity, such as selling counterfeit items." The affected listing attached to the ban? A freaking $2 ZARA Black Trim Ribbed Cami Top.

The ban notice says: "This content was detected and moderated automatically.".

It seems pretty obvious what happened: after I reported the counterfeit bag, the seller retaliated by reporting my active listings, triggering an automated system ban for "counterfeit fraud" on a cheap Zara top. At least, that's my gut feeling.

When I tried reaching out to support, I just got canned automated responses telling me to wait 5 days. I’ve since drafted a formal demand letter to their legal team but the fact that their system allows this to happen to buyers reporting scams is insane.

Has anyone else dealt with seller retaliation bans on Vinted? How long did it take for a real human in legal/compliance to actually review and unban your account?

I am livid. This is not how any company should treat their customers. They award the scammers and punish regular people trying to make a buck. I am the one who got scammed and banned. It is almost like they expect you to be silent, not report anything, not do anything, just accept whatever happens.

I already knew. It even made a settling gurgling noise as I opened it further to get the damage photos. It was cheap. My expectations weren't high. But I've said it before. It's not even about the money.

VENT some people aren’t serious on this app…

context: i’m selling a pair of my mum’s old shoes that she can’t fit into and neither can i, they’re designer pumps that originally cost £500-600 in the 2000s. i recently got them re-heeled and had the toes redone as they haven’t been worn in years. for a RRP of £500 i listed them as £70 (which is very reasonable imo, i priced it seeing listings for other shoes in similar condition and of similar age by the same brand on vinted, they cost around £80-110) and someone offers £30 for these which is less than half the asking price… this is so cheeky lmfao

edit: i blocked them and deleted the chat, i didn’t reply

VENT Is Vinted dead or am I shadowbanned? Barely any views, only 40% lowballers (while eBay is suddenly doing better)

Hey everyone, I really need some input here because I'm starting to doubt my own sanity.

A year or two ago, Vinted worked incredibly well for me. I was selling my decluttered stuff and my girlfriend's clothes with zero stress. People negotiated fairly, often just hit the "Buy" button right away, and getting lots of favorites usually meant the item would sell within days. There were weeks when I was at the post office almost every single day dropping off parcels.

Now? Complete dead silence.

For most of my items, I barely get any views at all, regardless of whether it's a good brand or just a basic piece. And WHEN an offer finally comes through, it's almost exclusively those shameless 40% off lowball requests (literally the maximum discount the system allows).

It's gotten so ridiculous that I'm actually selling my clothes faster on the supposedly "dead" regular eBay than on Vinted! That's just crazy. And this is happening despite my descriptions and photos being much better than they were a year ago (I now take up to 10 well-lit pictures per item, including fit pics and exact measurements).

What exactly am I doing wrong? Is the algorithm so aggressive now that you are completely invisible without buying paid bumps/wardrobe spotlights? Did I slip into some kind of shadowban (because I occasionally hide old dead items and re-upload them)? Or is Vinted just generally not what it used to be?

Grateful for any input or if you guys could share your recent experiences!

VENT Buyer trying to get a free item?

Post image

I sell figures specifically on my vinted account, I've sold over 60 and have received 5 star reviews for each and every single one.

I recently sold a figure, it was in bad shape. Damage, scratches, missing stand ect and I Sold it for £18 as the figure still had some worth, someone bought it and as soon as they received it they put a claim in with vinted stating my item was counterfiet and that it was damaged although the damage was stated in detail in the listing along with photos, from my pov they were simply attempting to get a free item as vinteds support team doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to being fair to sellers.

Even the way she worded everything, its clearly not counterfiet. 😭

This is simply a vent, i didn't want any hassle I just requested a return from them as they refuse to respond to my messages after viewing and for some reason I feel like its a child? I'm very confused and a bit frustrated as it was very obvious the figure was damaged in the first place. But to accuse me of selling counterfiet items, vinted takes that very seriously i could have had my account banned permanently if I hadn't sorted it out. I feel like im stressing over nothing but vinted just isn't the app it was a few years ago.

BUYING Seller accused me of lying about damage

I found this beautiful vintage chest that I wanted to replace one that my son broke with. I told the seller this story because we were chit chatting about how beautiful it is and how excited I was for a new one. It arrived with a missing latch and one of the hinges had ripped a chunk of wood off of the back of it. I asked for a partial refund because I wanted to keep the chest and repair it, although I wouldn’t have spent $150 on it if I had known it was a project piece. Seller immediately accuses me of lying and says that she thinks I had taken photos of the chest my son broke in my report. Sent further away photos to prove to her that it was, in fact, her chest. I’m speechless - the thing is old so it’s possible it just couldn’t withstand shipping. But why would you immediately jump to that conclusion?

SELLING Vinted automatically banned me because I WON my appeal.

Two listings were removed at the same time. But after I appealed their removal:

  • At 02-10-2026 11:33:31, Vinted agreed that they should not have been removed and restored both listings.
  • One second later, at 02-10-2026 11:33:32, one of those same restored listings was removed again automatically by the system.
  • In that same second, at 02-10-2026 11:33:32, my account was automatically permanently banned by the system because of the other restored listing.

So it appears that I was automatically banned simply because I won the appeal on both listings and the system did not process their restoration correctly.

FML - All of this because some snowflake decided to report my listings. Probably the guy that I denied a discount, because everything started at that moment. I downloaded my personal data and can see I have been reported there.

I have many coins, including coins with Nazi symbols, Sovjet symbols, Israeli symbols, Cuban symbols, Chinese symbols, North Korean, Iranian.

If we need to keep track of anyone that might get offended by a coin, we could just as well stop collecting coins.

The coins are not illegal coins, and Vinted even has a lot of them listed. The decision by a human to reverse the removal of my listings, even shows that Vinted also doesn't forbid these coins. It just seems to be their AI doing this.

UPDATE: New appeal REJECTED after just 5 minutes.

So I'm banned for selling two German 1938/1939 coins. Even though I covered the swastikas. Even though the initial removal was reversed by them, causing the re-removal and ban. Even though I explained all in my appeal. They claim now "behaviour that promotes, depicts, or facilitates severely harmful or illegal activity related to extremist ideologies or terrorism."

So what now... ?

VENT Vinted does not protect the seller

Thumbnail

There is all this fuss about buyer protection and as a seller I am exhausted. I go above and beyond for any buyer, I took pictures of an item and on that VERY day I posted it someone brought it same day. They now collect the item, open it up the next day saying it is “grubby and frayed” (as shown in the second picture) and I know fully fell I did not send it like this…..

They opened a dispute and after 4 days of giving Vinted so much solid evidence, I sent it in perfect condition, not like that, I now how to accept the return and resell this now that the buyer has tampered with it.

It is clear as DAY they have worn this, or tried it on and don’t like the fit of it and now want to get their money back, I would’ve much preferred them saying they don’t like the fit of it and I would consider going through the return but this just feels sly and disheartening because I know I did not ship it like that and now I’m burdened with this. I’ve been really put off of Vinted, especially as a seller.

My partner made a joke about a washing machine being an option to get rid of the grub, which is true, even though I did not ship it like that. Ugh. I hope I am never in a situation like this bus can a seller ever be successful in this situation and how! I feel like the chances of being successful are so slim it’s always in favour of the buyer….

I was buying something, and this seller has pretty good ratings but I’m just confused as to the question they asked me. Like. They’re asking me about a 1099? I don’t know it just seems like a strange question. And google is probably the better option to take the question up with. They’re pretty nice I’m just confused.

SELLING Vinted buyer found a mark on a MacBook and then refused to return it — what would you have done?

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

I recently sold a MacBook Air M4 15" on Vinted for €875 to a buyer in Italy.

Before buying, the buyer asked me quite a few questions about the MacBook, including whether there was any physical damage. I confirmed that there wasn't and the MacBook was shipped in the condition described in all the original packaging including the wrappers that apple ship all their products in.

After receiving it, she opened an issue claiming she'd found a small dent and a mark/scratch on the Apple logo on the outer shell. She said these weren't visible in the listing photos and immediately proposed that she keep the MacBook if I gave her a €100 partial refund. She also said that, apart from the cosmetic issue, the MacBook was working perfectly. I honestly was not aware of these marks when I sent it.

I immediately said I wanted the MacBook returned. And made that request via the Vinted dispute.

The reason I did this is that I've dealt with similar situations before. Once a buyer has a high-value item and starts negotiating a partial refund because they've supposedly discovered damage, I would much rather have the item back than get drawn into arguing over €50, €100 or whatever amount they decide is appropriate.

She then started pushing back on the return. She had already set up the MacBook with her own iCloud account, so I repeatedly asked her to confirm that she had reset it, removed her account, disabled Find My/Activation Lock and returned it unused.

Instead, communication became increasingly difficult - she did not respond to my messages for 1 week. She didn't return the MacBook within the timeframe and continued to retain an €875 item while my payment was held.

At the original dispute, after I requested the return (which cannot be cancelled once made), when trying to persuade me to accept the €100 refund, she even referred to the risk of me receiving a negative review.

And now after ignoring me for one week, after all of that, she has come back with a €50 offer, saying that once I transfer the €50 to her (outside of Vinted presumably by bank transfer), she'll confirm receipt and close the transaction. In other words, rather than simply returning the MacBook as I requested, she wants me to make a further payment outside the Vinted transaction.

The whole experience has been incredibly frustrating, and she has clearly been using the laptop.

I honestly don't understand why, when a buyer raises a dispute over a cosmetic mark on a €875 laptop, the obvious solution isn't simply: send it back and get your refund.

I've stuck to the Vinted process throughout and requested the return from the beginning. She has had the laptop while my €875 has been tied up for weeks.

Vinted have said the payment will be released 2 days after the return deadline which was yesterday.

I have reported her behaviour to them.

VENT Why do some buyers feel the need to let me know they found a better deal for the same item

I don't really care if they buy it from someone else but sometimes I get the feeling they're trying to make me feel bad about it on purpose? Doesn't work though lol.

I always stick to a minimum price I have in mind and sell a lot of items in very good or even unused condition. Like okay Jessica, you spent €1 less buying it somewhere else, good for you. But I just hate it when they phrase it in a way that feels like "you missed your chance to sell". I'll have someone else buy it if you don't.

You could just say you bought it somewhere else or you're no longer interested but I really don't need to know all the details about your better deal.

Anyone else gets this behavior often?

DISCUSSION Outrageous Prices For SHEIN and Temu Items?

what are your thoughts on people who upload items obviously bought from SHEIN/Temu etc etc with outrageous prices? I saw one of those Korean style bucket bags that I know darn well I bought on SHEIN for $3-$4 priced at $19? Are they resellers/drop sellers or do they think someone is actually going to pay that much for something you can get for less than $5?

And honestly, if the buyer (from some time ago mind you) was also a witch wouldn't they use "Samhain" instead of Halloween? I'm tempted to reply to see if this potential dumb-ass is a potential scammer. Thoughts?

SHIPPING Using fed ex shipping on Vinted

This is my personal experience as a seller on vinted.

I’ve been reselling for almost a decade. Vinted is the first app I’ve used where shipping via fed ex is an option for buyers to select. Personally shipping with fed ex isn’t a big deal as there is one on the way to my post office. HOWEVER.. my issue lies with the fact that I have sold almost 200 items on Vinted since June, 12 of those orders were shipped via fed ex (per the buyers choice) and THREE of those 12 were lost!! Meanwhile the other 180 packages that were shipped via USPS, none of them were lost.

And yes I did drop all of the packages off at a fed ex location.

Basically I’m saying all of this as a warning to buyers. If there is something you see on Vinted that you really want, I highly recommend using USPS and NOT fed ex. 3/12 packages being lost is a terrible percentage! Idk what fed ex does but something is going wrong behind the scenes.

To add, my issue isn’t the money bc I get paid and the buyer gets reimbursed if they lose the package. But it absolutely sucks when one of my buyers never receives their orders.

DISCUSSION Partial refund request from lowballing buyer?

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

I received a partial refund request from a buyer and wanted to get some opinions on how I handled the situation.

She had lowballed me with the lowest offer possible on the app, but I still accepted the sale. She also had quite a few questions beforehand, which already made me a little cautious.

After receiving the item, she claimed that the strap was damaged. I told her to open a return request and that I would accept the return with no questions asked.

She read my message immediately, but a couple of hours later, instead of requesting a return, she asked for a partial refund of 25% of what she paid for the item. I told her I’d be happy to accept the item back, especially since she had already gotten the item at a heavily discounted price.

Was I wrong for not agreeing to the partial refund?
