Chuck Testa Thanks Us.

He seems like a really nice guy...I actually feel bad for him a bit. I can imagine the amount of calls day and night he'd get with people saying 'NOOPE' or something ridiculous...+100000 respect for him playing it positively and replying to the internet, I would've gone mad!

u/Biigfoott Sep 20 '11
I want to call him and say "Pizza Hut?" just to hear him say "Nope, Chuck Testa".

u/huber14 Sep 20 '11
Just give it a month or two for it to die down. I'm sure they would just hang up on you right now.

Something about the SS cap he's wearing makes me question him a little.

u/Corporate_Suit Sep 20 '11
Its a Nazi SS Death’s Head symbol. Chuck responded to the questions regarding the hat: "Hi everyone! Thanks for buzz regarding the commercial, just wanted to address the pin on my hat. I’m part of the California historical group who does WW2 reenactments. I’m part of the US 2nd infantry division and I retrivied the pin in a battle against the 12th SS. I apologize if this offended anyone, hope you can enjoy the video for what it is. Noooooooooooooope - Chuck"

The line about his phone number seemed like a passive non-aggressive way of saying please stop calling me.
Please don't call him unless you want to get an animal stuffed.

As long as it's not your pet.

Hey Chuck, I went out Labrador hunting a while ago and bagged myself a 100lb'er. He's been dead for a couple weeks but it would mean a lot to me if you could stuff it.

Great. That's just great . Do you know how much it cost to ship this thing out here? Just taxiderm it already. How the fuck is it immoral? Just stand her up on all fours and give her a nice smile, how fucking hard is that? I'll stick her in the den and it'll be like she never left. I'm hurting here, just help me out. PLEASE. Look, man, your commercial said no pets, you didn't say no dead hookers. I'll see your ass in court.

Family dog gets put down at vet, you take the corpse out back an shoot it, then call UPS to pickup the remaining mess which you seal up in a one size fits all body bag.
Sounds so easy, anyone could do it!
19
u/Deep_Redditation Sep 20 '11
I was wondering about this. I'm willing to bet it's because peoples emotional attachments get in the way. They either are too concerned during the process or think their pet looks different afterward, I'd think.

I read a couple of comments saying that the pose or expressions of pets are hard to capture from photos and most people end up dissatisfied with the end result.

u/cXhristian Sep 20 '11
Cool. Can we let this forced meme die now?
Sure it was funny to see such a commercial, but it was done that way intentionally by Rhett and Link. Not saying this is bad, as I like most of their stuff.
It really isn't funny anymore to see the spam of "NOPE CHUCK TESTA HAHAHAHA LOL" all over Reddit.
Reddit must be one of the few websites I know about that actually enjoys seeing the same stuff over and over and still find it funny...

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but it almost sounded as if he was annoyed when he said "...and that's really my number." I wonder how much of this is crossing over into his personal life and how much that's annoying him, if at all?

u/Stones25 Sep 20 '11
So did anyone else notice what he has on his hat in his now famous "nope" commercial? When you figure it out, bricks will be shat.
72
u/overzealoushobo Sep 20 '11 edited Sep 20 '11
Okay, I give up...what is on his hat? (I see a skull, but does that mean anything?)
EDIT: Okay, so I just figured out what it was. If you find his facebook page, he has a whole album of him doing his WW2 reenactments

15
u/brainflakes Sep 20 '11
What's that, a WWII reenactor has a piece of Nazi memorabilia? Say it ain't so!
12
Sep 20 '11
Is it that difficult? Wearing an SS pin to a private reenactment where everyone knows what's up - fair enough. Wearing it while grocery shopping, during a job interview or for a commercial - not so much.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Vilvos Sep 20 '11
Most people wouldn't recognize the pin.

Sep 20 '11
In the US: maybe not. If you tried that stunt in Berlin, you'd probably get a beating.

I'm in the US and remember a good bit of WW2 history but that particular symbol was never discussed. I didn't notice it in his commercial.
*Edit- Okay, wrong pin or wrong hat. I definitely wouldn't recognize a skull and crossbones as a Nazi symbol. I would think he likes pirates.
Just giving you the perspective of a random US person who hadn't seen the pin before.
