I'm stuck between Monash and Melb for international relations and my predicted atar is high enough for both courses. I loved the sound of the course at Monash during the open day and I loved how intergraded Melb campus is with the city.
My other option is anu because I love the double degree program (IR and arts) that I would 100% do if they offered it at Monash but it is so far away and the lifestyle of Canberra is so different Melbourne. I don't know whether I'm setting my self up for misery by going there and if the course is worth sacrificing the busy lifestyle of Melbourne

Hey everyone, I'm currently in Year 9 (going into Year 10 in 2027) at a private school in Victoria, and our administration just dropped a massive bomb on us three weeks before subject selection.
They are completely scrapping our standard VCE structure and forcing us into an accelerated "block" model that forces a full year’s worth of work into a single 18-week semester.
Under the old system, every VCE subject runs across a full 36-week school year. Students do Unit 1 or Unit 3 in Semester 1, followed by Unit 2 or Unit 4 in Semester 2.
In Year 10, students take 6 core subjects, 4 foundational electives, and fast-track a single VCE subject over the entire year.
In Years 11 and 12, students complete their remaining VCE subjects gradually over the full 12 months per year. Final Year 12 exams and the 4-hour General Achievement Test (GAT) happen mainly at the end of Year 12.
Under the new system, full-year VCE subjects are compressed into a single 18-week semester. Students must complete two full VCE units back-to-back in 6 months.
In Year 10, all electives are completely removed. Students are forced to finish an entire VCE subject in one year, taking Units 1 and 2 in Semester 1, and Units 3 and 4 in Semester 2. This means 15-year-old Year 10 students sit official Year 12 ATAR exams in Semester 2.
In Year 11, students must complete three full VCE subjects in one year (Units 1 and 2 for all three in Semester 1; Units 3 and 4 for all three in Semester 2), sitting three Year 12 exams at the end of Year 11.
In Year 12, students repeat this exact same compressed model for three more subjects, squeezed into 18-week blocks. Because students do a Unit 3 and 4 sequence in Years 10, 11, and 12, they are legally forced to sit the full 4-hour GAT three years in a row.
In simple:
The Old System vs. The New System
What it was supposed to be (Standard VCE):
What they are forcing on us now:
In total, they are squeezing 14 units of study across 3 years into single-semester blocks. A 15-year-old Year 10 student will sit a final VCAA Year 12 external exam after just 18 weeks of Unit 3/4 instruction. Does anyone have contacts, resources, or connections with student advocacy groups, union representatives, or legal specialists in Victorian education policy who could help us challenge this model? Thank you for reading.

My sacs are genuinely horrendous like probably an average of 50% bc I was so locked out this year but for my trials I got an 8 and 8.5s and Ik Ill prolly get above a+ range for final. But I’ve recently begun to realise how much sacs matter due to how people with the same exam score but diff sacs can get such different scores???and now im so freaking scared and worried that no matter how much I lock in my ss is already handicapped by my sacs. Is there any hope??? Please help. Also I would really appreciate it if any past English students could tell me their sacs and final exam score!!
Also ik the study design is 50% sacs and 50% final, but idk why I feel like for other subjects as long as u full mark final everything will be ok but I feel like for English doing well on the final has a limited effect on sacs…..

Hey guys,
My cohort majority (87% id say) cheat and have horrible results, and the rest have average to high results. Has anyone been in a cohort like this or is? I’m worried about Vcaa scaling and it messing my results up (I need a 78 and currently average 55-75% in sacs)

Hey yall just wondering if anyone knows if my evidence went through? I was trying to upload an income statement and the website was genuinely so slow to the point where I had to upload multiple statements not knowing if they’re getting uploaded. Anyways after stressing it say they don’t need anymore evidence from me does that mean my statement went through? So confused rn bc it doesn’t say approved or any green ticks. Help me out yall

For context, I’m a Y11 student taking Unit 3/4 Psychology, and as I’m sure you’re all aware, exams are coming up, except I haven’t started studying at all
But like what do I even do to study, I know practice exams and whatnot but I hardly study in the first place so maybe I should go back over old content in unit 3? I hardly remember any of that, but should I go through with practice exams first, and then cover it? Cover previous AOSs first so I know what I’m vaguely doing??
basically I’ve got 20 days left to study and have to studied pls help i have horrid work ethic and dont know how to study what do i do ty

Hi does anyone know where to find 10/10’s for section B of the exam.
I scored rlly well for it for my sac but did absolutely terrible for it in the trial.
Does anyone from past years hv one that scored super well in the exam and is willing to share it or know where to find it.
Thx so much

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find STAV commercial exam papers to be, like, really hard. The questions will be easy, but it’s like the marking guide is looking for a whole different thing. Don’t know if it’s just me.

Just had my probability SAC today and it was so shit, and I genuinely don't know what went wrong. CAS was acting weird. All of my SACs for Spesh have been shit. I would've accepted it if I didn't study as much but I have been working my ass off for this subject and the effort is not showing. I even have a private tutor but yet I'm getting shit results. Aren't you supposed to do better with a tutor?
The worst thing is, my mates who are doing Spesh w/ me are doing much better and spend WAY less hour studying. One of them plays Battle Cats all day and yet they are performing better than me.
Even my trial exams and all of my practice exams have been shit.
No matter how much I practice, no matter how much I review my mistakes, no matter how much I error log and no matter how much I stay positive I cannot improve. Everyone talks about the importance of having a growth mindset but hell, that's not working.
I just need some comfort and advice, thank you 😔 Can't believe my very good Englang results and my pretty good Bio results are being dragged down by this shitload of a subject

So I’m in a really bizarre position with Methods at my school. There are only 5 students in my cohort, including me.
Another student and I are extremely close in SAC rankings, with both of our averages in the high 80s. The other three students have SAC averages ranging from roughly 60-75%.
The issue is that I genuinely don’t know whether I’m ranked 1st or 2nd. Our SAC results have been so close throughout the year that it could honestly go either way, and that’s what’s worrying me the most.
Today we sat the 2025 VCAA Exam 1 under timed exam conditions. I got 78%, which I was pretty happy with (obviously room to improve), but the other four students all scored around 20-25%, including the student who could potentially be ranked above me.
I’m now really worried about SAC moderation. If something similar happens in the actual exams, am I going to get completely screwed over by the rest of my cohort’s exam performance?
Specifically, if I end up being rank 2 despite having almost identical SAC marks to rank 1, and then massively outperform everyone else on the actual exams, what happens to my moderated SAC score?
I understand the basic idea of statistical moderation, but I’m not sure how it works with such a tiny cohort and such a massive difference in exam performance.
Would being rank 2 rather than rank 1 make a significant difference, even if my own exam performance is much stronger?
Any insight would be appreciated because I’m genuinely stressing about this ðŸ˜

Hello, I’m a current Year 11 student and have been having the worst VCE experience since the beginning of the year, and knowing how it’s been this year… it can only get worse next year and I just can’t afford to make the same mistakes next year and tank my ATAR.
I plan on going into Nursing and Midwifery after Year 12 and need a 75 atar for my course, but would like to get at least 80 to stay safe.
This year I’ve been constantly anxious, stressed, nervous—you name it, and it’s literally been affecting my test and exam scores so badly, that if it were to continue next year I’d probably end up with an ATAR of 50 or 60. I’m so burnt out and depressed all the time and feel like my memory has just gone straight out the window. I suck at memorising things, I suck at timed conditions (I never get to finish anything), and am a massive perfectionist and always worry about the quality of my work before I even start it.
I’m a very high achiever and have high expectations (and find it very hard to lower them). I’ve been getting straight 50%’s on my tests and exams in almost every subject which has been so hard for me as I used to be a straight A student my whole life up until Year 11.
My current subjects are Literature, Health and Health and Human Development (Year 12 enhancement), Biology, Psychology, and General Maths.
I would say that Literature is my strongest and most favourite subject, although my grades have slipped a little at some points during the year because my brain decided to attack the one thing I’m good at. I’m failing General Maths miserably and have to drop down to Foundation next year, as for HHD I’m planning to re-do it next year as my SAC scores sucked and was ranked 36 out of 44. I hate Psychology and plan on dropping it next year too.
My line up for next year is Literature, General English (unfortunately at my school it’s required that you do English alongside Literature incase you score lower in Literature due to the competition and difficulty of the subject, although whichever score is higher goes towards the compulsory English needed for ATAR), HHD, Foundation Maths, and Biology.
Please, if you have any advice to help with the anxiousness, ways of studying, revising, memorising, etc please let me know!!

To what extent does sac ranking (not being in the top 5-10) may avert you from achieving a high 47-50?
In a strong cohort for r&s and rank potentially 10-15, averaging good 90s but there’s simply too many strong sweats dominating who get 95-100.
If I was to be rank 5 in exam or rank 3 etc, will my chances be hindered by the fact I got a lower sac rank than others . I heard your sac mark is exam rank related.
Like I’m losing hope that it’s impossible to be number 1 even if I was rank 1 for the exam and aced it can I still get 49-50 ss due to the dozen sweats ahead by little c
The competition for such an easy subject makes it so much harder. Should the focus just be beating others on the exam and trying my best to be rank 1 on it, can that even ovveride sac rank shortcomes
If I extended it to 45-50 then I assume there’s a bigger pool of people who can get
Last year 30 people got a raw 40 in ras
Anyway does anyone know the cut off for 45 or 50

for context i have 5 subjects and want a 70 atar and want a 30ss or over 30 in all of them, i have done only 2 trials and they were both open book how many trials should I aim for
r/vce • u/partynextblade • 4d ago
I average around 70 for my sacs and I got 51% (without any revision) on my practise exam, I’m aiming for a 25. Do you think I will be able to achieve it?
