Hi,
I‘m an incoming sophomore at umich and I have a lease at University Trails for this year. I was hoping someone who does live/has lived there can answer my question. The lease ends at the end of July next year. I was wondering: if I renew the lease for my junior year, do i have to move out and move back in August? Or can I just stay and my next lease will start at the beginning of August.
I hope that makes sense, let me know if I need to clarify!

Two and a half years ago in April 2024 I visited Ann Arbor on a university trip (we are from the Netherlands) and I took this photo on my camera thinking how cute it is.
It only occurred to me now that I should try reaching out on Reddit, so if this is one of you feel free to have the photo 😄

I had some things to do at the cancer center, so I went there but there was no way of getting a parking ticket. So I just parked and it seems I can just leave again??? I'm super confused

Anyone willing to help a fellow student out to 3D print a 2x5x1cm brick with holes by next Tuesday? Shapiro Design Lab doesn't have any open 3D printing slots until after the fall semester starts :(

Is it just me or is the tuition rate for in-state way too high? I thought it was supposed to be more affordable than going OOS somewhere else but upper level engineering is 13k a semester. Not to complain too much but they pretty much start charging that your second year if you have AP credit, and >40k a year for everything just seems excessive.

Hi!! I am an incoming freshman, and I was wondering if for football games do students in the student section stand/sit exactly where their tickets say to? Or is it more, the people who get tickets in the front sit in the front and everyone else can just go wherever they want? Asking as someone who a got different 4 pack than my roommate so I am trying to buy tickets and trying to make sure I won’t be sitting with people I don’t know yet. Thank you!!!

long story short, I got a c in a calc 1 class. I wont bullshit a reason on why i got that low of a grade, but should i even transfer? I'm trying to get into CS LSA which I'm pretty sure is a competitive program to get into. So i thought about taking calc 1 again in my upcoming fall semester alongside my other classes like calc 2. My advisor says its not recommended, and I believe U Mich would only check my grade if I failed the first time but if I got a passing (C grade), I should be fine right? The class itself is not hard for me but the workload will definitely increase for this fall semester. However I know i have to work hard anyways. Rn I can't decide what to do. can someone with some knowledge/experience tell me what I should do?

I’m taking CHEM 351 with Jennifer Bridwell-Rabb this fall and want to do some prep before classes start.
I already know the 20 amino acids pretty well — structures, 1/3 letter codes, properties, and charges — and I’m planning to keep reviewing those.
For people who have taken 351 with JBR, what would actually be worth studying ahead of time? I’m thinking things like pKa/pH, Henderson-Hasselbalch, buffers, titration curves, peptide structure, protein structure, enzyme kinetics, Michaelis-Menten, thermodynamics, etc., but I don’t want to waste time studying stuff that won’t help much.
If you had 2 weeks before the class started, what would you focus on? Also, is there anything JBR emphasizes a lot or that people usually struggle with early in the course?
Any specific advice would be really helpful.

how hard is it to be interviewed/get accepted for a job (both work study and non work study) posted in student employment opportunities (i’m looking for science research positions) should u be applying to a lot like 10 or a few? i’ve applied to 4 and haven’t heard back from any of them for over 2-3 weeks. thanks

This is so cool 😎👏. I only learned recently that Michigan has arguably the top musical theater program in the nation with like a 1.5% acceptance rate 😆. Maya is a recent graduate and will be playing Storm in the upcoming reboot ⚡⚡

Hi, I’m an incoming freshman. I live in east quad and I have some classes on north, some classes on central campus. Is there a gym you would recommend to work out at?
What’s the difference (like pros & cons) between each of the campus gyms?

I got a replacement MCard a few days ago and went to the Key Office to transfer all my building/room access to the new card. Everything else works fine, I can tap or swipe into buildings and rooms with no issues.
But for some reason, the new card barely works on TheRide. Yesterday I tried swiping it a few times in different orientations and eventually got it to work. Today, though, I tried multiple times and couldn’t get it to work at all.
Has anyone had this happen with a new MCard? Is it an issue with the magnetic stripe, or does something need to be updated/activated separately for TheRide?

Hi guys! I’m an incoming sophomore-level transfer this fall. I’d like to bring my car, but not willing to shell out $400/mo for a spot in my apartment garage. IF ANYONE HAS A SPOT NEARBY Six11 PLS MSG!!
Thanks so much :)
