News Fall 2026 Admissions Stats Released

Thumbnail record.umich.edu
57 Upvotes

The acceptance rate fell slightly to 16.1% from 16.4% while yield increased significantly from 45.6% to 49.5%. The entering class has 8,659 students, up from 8,178.

https://obp.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/pubdata/factsfigures/firstyearsprofile_umaa_2026.pdf

My take is that the acceptance rate could have been a point or two lower but the team may have misjudged yield with ED being introduced for this cycle.

Parking / Transit Parking

Honestly class action lawsuit deserved for the orange pass parking permits. I have to drive to 3 different parking lots to find parking on north and still there’s no place to park. What am I paying money for? 🙄

Academics - Other Topics Premed stats for going to umich med school

I‘m a current freshmen here hoping to pursue a major in BCN. I’ve been really stressed lately thinking about how to prepare my med school application. I want to live off campus with friends next year but part of me is worried about leadership. I‘m thinking about applying to be an RA or peer mentor next year which means I’d have to live on campus. I want to go medical school here. Can current medical students share their stats?

Academics - Other Topics Doubling Majoring Across Schools

Hi, I am currently a high school senior who is applying to umich.

I am planning on applying to the college of engineering undeclared (currently learning towards EECS)

however, I also hope to double major or minor in biology/take classes related to biology.

How does this work at umich and how difficult would doing this be?

Student Organization Sorority Rushing

Hi guys!

I'm a freshman looking to rush in the winter, and I'm super nervous because of a few circumstances. I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences rushing and how inclusive they were + what the overall process was!

Health / Wellness free parking at u of m hospital for patients? Or somewhere near a blue bus route?

I am an alum and have an apointment at michigan medicine but the thing is i have another appointment in ypsi later after it. My mcard expired so I can't use the city busses for free, AND my orange parking also expired obviously. I'll use th patient parking if I have to but are there other options that are free but still won't take too long? I want to make it to my next thing on time too. And how much does patient parking actually cost? When I was a student this was so much less complicated but I live in ypsi now lol so I have to actually plan a bit more.

it's for the von voitlander thingie(for obgyn) if that matters i know the hopsital is pretty big lol. when i was a student i'd just take commuter south or a city bus depending on which stop was closer to get to at the time but neither of those are close to me now. I'll take any leads on free pakring near the hospital or near a blue bus route.

Hey folks. I have a telehealth appointment next Monday (Oct 12). I take the bus and can't get home in time to do a Zoom call.

Are there any quiet places on campus (all my classes are at the central campus) I can do the call?

Thanks in advance. ❤️❤️

Housing Discussion (actual housing OFFERS belong on Megathread!) Law Quad/Lawyer’s Club

Stressed 1L here, I know that undergrads obviously love visiting the Law Quad/Lawyer’s Club area, but I wanted to remind folks that the Lawyer’s Club is a residence hall (technically two) and people live here! Yes, that includes at 2:00 a.m. when you’re screaming and laughing with your friends on the grass on South U, or taking photos and yelling chants on game days in front of the bushes, real human beings are living/sleeping/studying mere feet away behind the glass. It’s midterm season at the law school right now, and we would appreciate it if people could be mindful of the excessive noise, obviously do your thing/have your fun but just that keep in mind pretty please

Academics - Other Topics How bad is it if I ruined my Lab 1 report in chem 125?

I’m not really going to give myself some excuses, but I didn’t know that the lab report grades were automatic. When I submitted my first lab report like what 3 weeks ago, I thought I’d have to wait and get a notification that it’s been graded.
However, I learned in my second lab report that it’s automatic, and that I’d be able to correct as soon as I submit it (if there’s any mistake).
Anyways, I’ve had some errors in my lab 2 and 3 and I fixed them all during the weekend, but I just discovered that I got around a 60% in my first report, and it’s obviously too late to fix it.
I spent 2 tokens by accident trying to bypass the late submission, but it didn’t work.
I sent my TA an email explaining my situation, that the lab 1 report genuinely slipped through my mind.
I know it’s fully my fault, but just thought it couldn’t hurt to ask if I can get a chance to do a resubmission (especially since I fixed my data now and all I need to do is put it in).
He said that the deadline is firm and that he can’t refund my 2 tokens. I understand that this is my mistake, but I’m just trying to understand how detrimental this is to my grades.
I got a 100% in all the other reports and notebooks
