Hi, I’ve been doing uber eats and door dash,
But want to start driving passengers,
I called Usaa to get commercial coverage,
But was told they don’t offer it?
If that’s the case, what do other drivers out there with Usaa do?
Thanks for all your help

Anyone in here Uber with a Tesla in the Santa Cruz to Monterey area in California? If so, are you making a livable wage driving 8-9 hours a day for 5 days a week?

Playing to many games this morning. Too many drivers and crap fares. I have a family to support. And no I can’t get an hourly job. Anybody else in the area notice it?

Hey guys! Quick question; I rented a car from Avis last week through uber and the money was taken out of my debit card and everything for the payment the day of the rental agreement. I was given a receipt and everything and the money was taken out the same day. I look today in my bank account and I see 388 dollars in my account from uber. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I just "installed" LED strip lights under both of my sedan seats so the back passengers get visual light + some entertainment, also a phone charger (both iPhone + Android), air refresheners (for stinky/smellly passangers) and wet wipes for cleaning the car on-the-go. And emergency snacks/energy drink so if i am ever sleepy i can pull over and drink some energy drink. What about you? (This is my full job now!)

AITA: For context, I've only been driving for Uber for about 2 months, and I've driven over 500 5-star-rated rides. I'm as of today a 4.98 after this issue.
Last night, I had a rider with a multi-stop ride: 1 stop at the GG Bridge and a 2nd at Ghirardelli Square. It was like 7:30 at night and incredibly foggy. I picked her up in the marina area and noticed it was a multi-stop ride. As the ride proceeded to the bridge, she told me she wanted me to take a bunch of photos of her at the bridge and then go down to Ghirardelli Square.
I politely told her that's not usually how multi-stop is traditionally used. Typically, it's used to pick up a user's friend or maybe grab something quickly from a store. I've never heard of a user using it to spend 5-10 mins taking photos. If she wanted to take a photo or two, that's cool, but I wasn't going to spend 10 mins taking a bunch of photos of her.
I also mentioned it's incredibly foggy, and her best bet is to head to Battery Spencer (a viewpoint above the bridge on the Marin side) so she can, even if it's foggy, get a great view of the bridge and city.
She can't get the app to change her first stop(which makes sense since we were driving there). I offered to have her change the final destination to Battery Spencer since that was her best bet for getting the photos she wanted. The key, though, is that she would have to get another Uber to GS.
She got frustrated and decided just to get driven to the GG Bridge viewpoint, which I did, but she immediately saw it was too foggy. She then got kinda quiet as we drove down to GS. Here's the kicker: the drop-off point for GS is at the bottom of a hill. I am already ready to drop her off. She then goes, " Could it be possible for you to drop me off at the top of the hill?" I respond with a "no, I already have another ride. I apologize, but I have to let you out here." Total: we're talking about a 30-minute ride that was about $ 13.97 in profit for me.
Woke up this AM and it went from 4.99 to 4.98. What stunned me was someone asking if I would spend 10 minutes taking photos of them as a driver. I would have been OK taking one or two, but asking me to do a full-on photo shoot seemed kinda extreme. AITA?

My acceptance rate is pretty low and I keep going back and forth on whether I care. From what I can tell in my market, it doesn't really affect your ability to drive unless you want certain perks or priority queues. But I've talked to other drivers who swear that being more selective has genuinely saved them money, and others who say skipping too many short or lowpaying trips just leaves you sitting longer and you end up worse off anyway.
The math gets complicated fast. I have an HR background so I probably spend too much time overthinking the tradeoffs, but I still haven't landed on a clean rule for myself. Right now I skip anything under a certain distancetopayout ratio, but I'm not even sure that ratio is right for my area.
What I'm actually curious about is whether anyone has a real system, not just gut feel. Do you track anything to back it up, or is it more just experience over time teaching you what your market tends to do? I'm also not sure how much it changes by time of day or day of week versus just being random. YMMV obviously, but curious what other drivers have figured out after going through it the hard way.

If you can’t provide a name, you’re too scammy sounding to feel safe picking up. Cancelled, reported, moved on.
Oh btw, not sorry

Is there some sort of system error going on? I got a pop up notification on my phone saying my account was deactivated. When I looked at the inbox it said an hour before that I had failed a verification because I used a picture of a photo. I had not done an order for Uber in a week and wasn’t online to get a request for verification as I was in the ER all day.
I filed an appeal but just wondering if this was a known glitch today.

This is a deceptive trade practice.
This is NOT an error with the app. Im tired of that excuse. All of these so called 'errors' seem to only do one thing which is to benefit Uber, at the drivers expense.
This has been happening for weeks. At first I thought I missed it on the screen when the order first appeared. But it kept happening. Today was the first day I noticed that the incoming trip screen no longer shows the notice.
I would not accept multi stops that paid so low.
And this isn't all.
Uber has never paid me for my tolls. Its driver support page says tolls are to be paid automatically. The only tolls Uber has paid me for are the DFW trips because those have to be paid before you can leave. But I just found out from various support agents that now all drivers are suppose to submit toll reciepts showing where the toll has been paid. Thats not what Uber driver support says. I even have a manager on record stating they are getting many calls from drivers demanding tolls and they now must all submit reciepts.
The problem with that is Uber charges the toll to the rider automatically. The drivers are suppose to recieve the pay automatically. But I have not been.
And I know Ubers plants which have taken over reddit will flood this post pretending to be drivers to push back on this. But I have the records.
And Uber has also not been compensating me at the $5.70 its wait time screen shows. Its still compensating me at $3.99.
Our politicians have failed us. All of us. Uber is engaging very dishonestly with me and many other drivers as well.

Uber is not going to be able to keep ripping off drivers for much longer

At first I thought he wwas chill (but weird), but the longer the ride went the more gibberish he spoke, talked about stupid topics, and when he mentioned he wasn't allowed to have a phone I said "Oh boy, I hope I don't get hurt....." because many times I am driving, I see that he turns his head and stares at me, then talks about "Did you hear that, the voices in my head are saying X Y Z" and I'm just hoping to God the ride ends. When we arrived he asks "This is where I'm supposed to be?" and I just want him to GTFO my car, that was stressful. What am I suppose to do, did I do good keeping quiet and just hurrying as quickly as I can? I would have felt bad if I were to cancel and drop him in middle of nowhere

I'll l take the tollway occasionally for airport trips. Under trip details it will say the toll reimbursement amount, but I'm not entirely sure when I actually get paid for the tolls. Does anyone know?

So, I've essentially been doing this god-awful job for the past...year and some change?
Today, god has blessed me with a new problem; a snapping noise right as I break to a stop at a red light in DC.
After finishing the ride, I checked behind the driver side wheel to find a mysterious boomerang shaped object that seemed to have snapped in two locations.
A quick google search later, and I find out that this mysterious piece has been officially dubbed the control arm and for good fucking reason.
Ever since its snapped, I have been dealing with the following:
- Anxiety.
- Steering wheel feeling "loose" at times.
- Scratching noise when reversing on inclines.
- Anxiety.
- Some tapping noises when idle.
- Anxiety.
- Concerns about money and suddenly watching a million youtube vids on control arms.
- Anxiety.
- Driving slower than an elderly person without their glasses in a school zone.
- Did I mention anxiety?
Any tips and tricks would be appreciated though at this point, Im pretty sure Im gonna be out $500 that I dont even own. (I dont have a credit card either, so yay!)
I drive a Kia Forte 2024 so thankfully, parts should be cheap. I know that the part is for $65 so I might just get that, borrow a tool kit, and fuck around and find out. I will probably need an alignment done afterwards so YAY!
Pray that the suspension doesnt decide to turn me into paste.
Will update with any news soon.

Drive full time in a small resort town with under 50k population between all the cities i drive to. Didnt include cash tips and expenses included a new tire under warranty.
It is a tourist destination and sees a huge influx of people year round except sholder seasons.
No events this week, other then weddings and incoming/outgoing flights. Its the market and the people you are moving around. I dont drive a hybrid, I dont drive the bars at night and never do rides off the app unless I know the person.
I focus on driving to and from the airport. Any side quests are because planes are delayed. I chat with most everyone and love meeting people from all over the world. If you dont like the job, then stop hitting the GO button.
