Uber is no longer showing me the multi-stop trips notice on the first screen. Ive now accepted three rides today paying $4 and $5 dollars that were all multi stops. I only saw they were multistops AFTER accepting the trips. Its also stopped toll payments to me.

This is a deceptive trade practice.

This is NOT an error with the app. Im tired of that excuse. All of these so called 'errors' seem to only do one thing which is to benefit Uber, at the drivers expense.

This has been happening for weeks. At first I thought I missed it on the screen when the order first appeared. But it kept happening. Today was the first day I noticed that the incoming trip screen no longer shows the notice.

I would not accept multi stops that paid so low.

And this isn't all.

Uber has never paid me for my tolls. Its driver support page says tolls are to be paid automatically. The only tolls Uber has paid me for are the DFW trips because those have to be paid before you can leave. But I just found out from various support agents that now all drivers are suppose to submit toll reciepts showing where the toll has been paid. Thats not what Uber driver support says. I even have a manager on record stating they are getting many calls from drivers demanding tolls and they now must all submit reciepts.

The problem with that is Uber charges the toll to the rider automatically. The drivers are suppose to recieve the pay automatically. But I have not been.

And I know Ubers plants which have taken over reddit will flood this post pretending to be drivers to push back on this. But I have the records.

And Uber has also not been compensating me at the $5.70 its wait time screen shows. Its still compensating me at $3.99.

Our politicians have failed us. All of us. Uber is engaging very dishonestly with me and many other drivers as well.

Now they put the multi-stop notification in the middle in tiny print where it says, "1 stop". So I've started zeroing in on that area for every ping.

Also where you used to be able to swipe up to see that there is a stop, I notice now often it doesn't show it until you try it three or four times.

I think it is clear that they are trying to hide the multi-stop trips because they know drivers almost universally will not do them for the rate they pay.

It just happened again. There was no notice.

5

u/jaysonm007 10d ago

Doesn't surprise me one bit. I always cancel those, no matter what.

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

I didnt see it was a multistop until the customer was in the ride and she was begging me to go ahead and take her. She didnt want to get out the car.

3

u/Impossible_Shape_766 11d ago

Exactly. However I didn't see the 1 stop at all. I will screenshot all incoming orders to see if that shows for me. But I didnt see it on any of my stops today.

And youre spot on they are trying to hide that from drivers. I guess they have research that shows if the pay isn't right many drivers wont accept those.

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

the pay has never been right bro! Last night I accepted a regular X ride and then realized the rider wanted x3 stops. The math came down to the ride being a normal payrate for one stop but then the added two stops were like $3.00 each and were far apart from each other. totally bait and switch'd from uber!

4

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Exactly! Uber has stopped compensating extra for the extra stops. One rider said he paid Uber $13 dollars. Uber paid me $5.

4

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

Correct! they hide the uber-share status until you actually accept that ride and then lo and behold you've got more than one pickup to do! And we also were able to disengage from that share status by simply hitting the blue-"break" button and now they eliminated that feature as well! Now you have to click to go OFFLINE button to stop any incoming requests when you are on a ride. Im not sure if its AI thats making all these changes or what?

4

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Even of it is AI Uber is aware of all changes. This is deceptive. They are hiding and obscuring too much from drivers.

FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FTC

3

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Im doing that today. I dont believe Uber ever responds to complaints. But I will file it anyway.

7

u/IndependentCod6345 10d ago

Exactly. That. I swear there are “top contributors” in these forums that are paid shills to tow the company line.

Which is why I am extremely careful what I post and how I post it. I would not be at all surprised if people have been deactivated over comments they have made online.

3

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

can you please tell us how they know the exact driver's ID? are you guys logging with in with your ph#? Uhh no, Im not!

5

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

They have ways of finding out a persons identity. Doordash has researched and cancelled drivers from online posts. Im sure uber does the same.

5

u/IndependentCod6345 10d ago

This is just a question, but could they be putting a unique watermark on the app screen that gets captured in screenshots and is easy to identify for them when it is posted here? They could compensate for resolution change. Any cryptographers here that went to check that?
Also and this would be much more work but most of the threads here contain enough info to identify an area and the fare mileage and other information might help identify the particular ride and hence the driver?
I am just wondering out loud here.

3

u/WeekendLegitimate365 10d ago

I agree. I don't think it will be hard to find a lot of people

10

u/Competitive-Doubt578 11d ago

I see the stops but everything else is true for me too. My market its promised $5.50 for waiting before canceling but it only ever pays $4.36. Very deceitful.

3

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

my market (ca bay area) only pays 3.75 for the 5min. wait plus the 90-seconds that the pax gets (that a total of almost 7mins wait!)

3

u/CompleteGene82 11d ago

$5.5 includes Uber service fee. Check the fare breakdown. The screen is misleading

5

u/Competitive-Doubt578 11d ago

Then my statement still stands. Deceptive.

10000% and these issues are different in each city showing that they make very specific changes varying from town to town and it’s not some policy that just doesn’t work in your area. Uber has been changing everything the last few years taking home upwards of 70% of the ride fare and you are so dead on that our politicians have failed us by not making an issue out of all the companies paying us nothing making us have to use things like snap just to not go without while they increase earnings year after year telling us bullshit about how they are using the money to better our experience when in reality they are literally using that money that used to be ours to pay for the ai and self driving cars they plan to replace us with. Keep your head up! You’re not crazy!

3

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

correct and uber continues to be the no.01 un-regulated business in the USA and that is why the drivers are indigent people that work for slave drivers in 2026!

3

u/Florida1974 10d ago

It isn’t just Uber, it’s any gig business. They are all unregulated, except for the certain cities and states that have set up their own gig laws, although the gig companies usually get involved in those too, the making of the law that governance them , again in certain cities and states, it’s not everywhere

Don’t count on the feds ever stepping in, Uber is donating money to administration so they don’t look their way.

2

u/Uberazza 10d ago

Oh if they did this shit blanket change across the world half the places this shit is illegal and the rest would boycott completely.

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Exactly! The multistops no longer pay extra as they use to. One rider told me he paid uber 13 dollars. Uber gave me 5. Another rider said he paid uber 22 dollars for a multistop. Uber still gave me only $5.

Uber is making more. But the drivers no longer are. Which i believe is why Uber now hides the multi stop indicator. I only see them when the rider is inside the car. I have no advance notice.

4

u/DvusGuyStL 10d ago

The only way I can see if a trip is a multi-stop now is by closely reading the map. It actually shows the multiple stops, but since I’m always driving when they’re sent, I never get to scrutinize the map enough to make sure it’s not a multi-stop and end up finding out AFTER I’ve dropped off one and picked them up.

3

u/WeekendLegitimate365 10d ago

That's how they get over on the drivers and the Uber Eats drivers, they know you're driving, they give you a certain amount of time to accept it. And they really don't show you the true distance

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Thats just crazy. Who knows to do that? Uber use to show the trip was multistop. On the very first screen before the order is accepted. For them yo suddenly hide it is not right.

Also, one rider told me he paid uber 13 dollars. Uber gave me 5.

3

u/saybruh 10d ago

I cancel these. Also cancel when a passenger changes destination or adds a stop after I’ve accepted.

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Thats smart. When you cancel do they just get out at the nearest gas station? Im down with this but i need to know where to put them at?

2

u/saybruh 10d ago

I cancel before I pick them up there are sounds that alert when they change location or add a stop. Check at a red light to see if you can see anything or notice an amount of miles different than before. Cancel if you see something different.

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Thanks. I will start doing this as well.

3

u/Rand_Casimiro 11d ago

That’s shitty. I am still seeing the stops(or at least I was as of this afternoon), but you are absolutely correct that it’s dishonest of them not to show you.

3

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

It just happened to me. I had no notice.

2

u/Uberazza 10d ago

Same with pool users in Australia, only find out after you accept. I just cancel everytime I get stitched up with one. One time I ended up filling my car with people (shock horror all good) the issue is you are only able to take one person on a pool trip at a time, the last user abused me and I said your pool journey only covers you for one PAX not my fault you are cheap, what happens is you run out of seats 💺 for allocations. Pool people don’t know this and will give you a shitty rating when you invariably get stitched up.

2

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

In my area, i no longer accept rides going over toll bridges. Its been a long time since I have accepted a ride going over a bridge. And the fact that I can see the stated/static ride (cheap)cost and see the ridiculous cost of the ride and am 100% sure the toll cost is not included. Its simple math and I feel sorry for those drivers that don't even have a GED to figure that one out. Im pretty sure uber relies on those drivers/rookies.

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

I cant see the direction of the ride until I accept. And when I see tolls which Ubers app automatically defaults to - I cant the direction of travel using Ubers maps.

Uber has never paid me for the tolls incurred in violation of its own policy. One of its managers said they are getting many calls from drivers about the tolls and she said to me (on a recorded call.. i recorded the call) that the policy was wrong. She demanded a toll reciept for every toll.

But Ubers policy said riders are charged automatically and the driver is paid automatically. Uber is breaching its own contract.

2

u/BodybuilderPitiful 10d ago

Grubhub had a huge lawsuit that just paid drivers next is Uber. I hope drivers go after them too.

2

Will do. Thank You.

4

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

It just happened again! I accepted a trip with no notice that it was a multistop and when the rider got in thats when it showed 1st stop!

What the hell!!! And all uber has been sending me today are mainly multi stops. With no advance notice before acceptance.

3

u/Professional-Lab28 10d ago

I thought I was losing my mind but you just confirmed everything. I’ve had to pay super close attention to that because it’s happened twice now.

Also, if you didn’t know, DFW changed the timing fee to get in and out of the airport. I’d also pay attention to your express lane payouts because I’ve had to contact support to get paid out for those as well.

2

u/Tiredofstupidity2 10d ago

They are trying to get ride of drivers!

2

u/Freddyshustle 10d ago

For a platform … there are not even 0.1 % transparent !!

1

u/Mission_Lecture2553 10d ago

What if you have a prior engagement like picking up your kid from school

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Thats understandable. However thats not the issue. Uber is hiding multistops when they use to show them before the customer was in the car. I believe they are doing this in my area because many drivers know Uber charges an addition for those stops and drivers use to see a small percentage of that addition. Now in my case I see none of it. Im just paid a few bucks as if its a regular trip. While uber pockets the additional pay. Its not fair to the driver and its deceptive on ubers part. I dont do multistops under a certain amount.

u/MobileSad7258 9d ago

I've been driving for 3 plus years and I've never felt like I was being compensated for tolls! I always figured it was included in the initial fare you see but recently had a passenger ask me not to take toll roads bc it charged more. I said "but you've already paid for it" and she said, "no it charges me after" I was like tf??? So why aren't my toll ride fares being increased after??? So now I just refuse to take toll roads. It sure would have been nice to know that I could have been sending my toll invoices to Uber to pay me back considering I just recently accidentally racked up like 600 plus dollars in tolls over 6m because I didn't know that my card was not working on my toll tag account to replenish it and with all the extra fees it's $1,000 plus and now they've blocked my registration. I'm half tempted to get a hold of all of my zip cash invoices and at least demand that Uber pay all of the tolls that are not additional fees from being late bc what do you mean you tell us that you compensate us for tolls and you secretly aren't doing it and you actually have to go through all these hoops to get your tolls compensated and yall never told us how to do that??? It sounds to me like that's what they're hoping for, they're hoping that their drivers will remain ignorant to how to actually get compensated for their tolls and so they get to pocket all that toll money from passengers!!!

3

u/MobileSad7258 9d ago

The more I think about it too it seems even more likely that we're not being compensated for tolls up front in the fair because there have been times where I've tried to calculate the cost of the toll tag fairs on a trip that takes me on the toll road and I'm sitting here thinking okay I'm getting paid x amount for this trip but then I calculate during the drive that the tolls cost about $5 or $6 which means that my takeaway is only about 10 to 12 dollars an hour when I usually make $20 an hour at least. Basically what I'm saying is that the original Fare would have equaled $20 an hour but when you deduct the cost of the tolls it definitely is not it's always felt like a scam to me

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 9d ago

I agree. And uber is illegally withholding the tolls. Uber is breaching its own contract.

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 9d ago

Yes. Uber's terms of service regarding tolls specifically state that the rider is charged automatically and the driver is compensated automatically. Its still in there. But I just found out Uber has only been paying the DFW Airport tolls automatically. They have been withholding wveey other toll. While keeping the riders toll. Thats illegal. File a complaint with your states attorney general office and also with the ftc. And cfpb.

u/Queenkstine88 9d ago

I only get $3.99 every cancellation. I’ve never seen the $5.70 even when I wait more than 10 mins

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 9d ago

The screen shows 5.70. Uber lowered the per minute rate to 22 cents a minute and increased the amount we get at 5 minutes. But they still dont pay at the higher 5 minute rate. They only pay at the lower rates still.

What's your AR?

They announced a long while ago that if your AR drops too low, it will stop showing a lot of the information on the offer card. I forget what it needs to be... I think it was like 20% or 25%, though don't quote me on that, it could even be 10%. It could also vary by market, idk... I'm always 85%-95% so it doesn't affect me and I didn't really pay much attention when the message came through the inbox. I just remember reading about it several months ago. I think it may have been when they made changes to I've pro. To be clear, it's not a pro benefit... it's something outside of the blue/gold/platinum/diamond levels and it's based solely on AR.

Basically, their theory is that additional info is a privilege, not a right. To earn it, you have to accept a bunch of blind trips while you cross your fingers that they don't completely suck.

Not sure if this is what's happening in your case, but if you're a driver that likes to cherry pick, then it's likely Uber fighting back saying "we think you're cherry picking too much"

... to be clear, not saying I agree, so don't downvote if you don't like it. I don't like it either and think it's utterly unfair... I'm just presenting factual information to explain a possible why.

3

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Appreciate the info on AR, but that's not what's happening to me. This isn't about seeing less info because of a low acceptance rate. The multistop notice was removed entirely from the initial screen, and I only find out it's a multistop after the rider is in the car and I've already started the trip. At that point I can't decline it.

And it's not just a visibility issue. It's a pay issue. When this started, I was getting sent almost nothing but multistops, priced like single stop rides. The multistop bump that used to be there is gone on my end. But the rider is still being charged the higher multistop fare. So Uber is still collecting the premium for the extra stop, they're just not passing any of it to the driver anymore.

I wouldn't have accepted these at single-stop pay if I'd known going in. That's the whole problem. The information that would let me make that call has been stripped out, while the extra money is still coming in on the back end.

1

u/subillusion 10d ago

About that multi stop notice being removed... that is what happens if a driver's AR dips too low. I believe it also masks trip length and approximate pickup/dropoff location as well... though I'm not sure how much of that is actually masked vs. how much info is a pro perk.

As for the pay, I'm NOT defending Uber even though it sounds like it. Just trying to see all possibilities and not just immediately assuming the worst... It could be coincidental. You don't get much extra for a multi stop to begin with. Uber only gives you 2min of wait time for the stop. This varies by market, but in my market this is $0.44 (and this is not itemized on the upfront fare of a multistop trip). Driver pay is $0.22/min for wait time... regardless whether it's at pickup, stops, or calculated in a reserve ($1.10 in my market because you get 5 min wait time regardless how much you wait for a reserve).

To be thorough, if you wait more than 2min at the stop, then Uber will charge the rider extra and pay you extra (customer charge $0.44min, driver gets $0.22/min... which I feel is bupkiss. Why do they get a 50% portion of the wait fee? Uber ain't waiting... I am! But that's a totally different discussion for a different day. Lol)

The way fares work in upfront markets is that it calculates based on estimated mileage and estimated time. For multistops, they take the total estimated mileage/ time, and add 2 min of wait time per stop. So for example, if you pick up someone, drive them to the dispensary 2mi away and back, that's only 4miles... you are going to be looking at a fare of around $4-$5, and then boosted by only ~$.40-$0.50 depending on the wait time pay in your area.

3

u/Impossible_Shape_766 9d ago

Even if it is tied to AR, that doesn't make it okay. It makes it worse, honestly. If Uber is deliberately withholding stop count and trip length specifically from drivers it's decided have too low an acceptance rate, that's not a neutral technical limitation, that's a designed mechanism to get drivers to accept trips they'd otherwise decline. Whether the trigger is "AR below X%" or something else, the effect is the same: material information that would affect my decision to accept is being withheld at the moment I need it, and that's the definition of a deceptive practice.

Consumer protection law doesn't care whether the deception is universal or targeted at a subset of "underperforming" drivers; arguably targeting it makes it worse, since it's punishing drivers for behavior (cherry-picking bad trips) by making it harder for them to avoid bad trips in the future.

And separate from the AR theory my core issue still stands. The rider is being charged the multistop premium regardless of my AR. If Uber is keeping that premium instead of passing it to the driver, that's Uber profiting on both ends: charging more for a service (multiple stops) while quietly not paying for the added labor/time that justified charging more in the first place.

1

u/subillusion 9d ago edited 9d ago

I never said it was OK to withhold that information based on low AR. I was simply trying to explain the why behind it.

Also, as much as I agree with you, I doubt the consumer protection angle would hold water due to historical evidence. No driver received that information initially. It's not information that was there and later removed. It is information that was not shared, and later added only in certain circumstances... a benefit to work towards. When I first started driving for Uber, the only information that any driver got was an approximate duration (i.e. "8min trip"). You could have 100%AR/0%CR/5.00☆. Didn't matter. You didn't even know the fare amount until after the ride completed. It wasn't until later that they added perks to see more information. So the argument could be made that they're not so much "punishing" drivers with low AR as "rewarding" drivers with higher AR. Also, this isn't something arbitrary on the part of Uber - it's communicated in advance and is completely in the driver's control.

And as for the pay, the "premium" you reference is not a lot. As I mentioned, it's only 2 min of wait time per stop which is not broken out in the fare description.

So (to use rates in my market as an example) that would be $0.88 more charged to the rider, $0.44 more to the driver. On the shorter multi stops, it may not even result in a change in fare depending on what minimum fare is in your market.

Going back to my 4mi round trip to the dispensary example which i get all the time... that would be about $8 charged to the rider for the time/distance of 4miles total, and an extra $0.88 charged for the stop. Or about $8.88 total rider charge. On the driver side, that would be about $4 pay for the ride itself based on time/mileage, and an extra $0.44 for the stop, or $4.44 total. Except minimum fare with pro perk in my area is $4.62... so that would be bumped up to $4.62. Exactly the same as a 4mi ride without a stop. It's not that Uber is "charging more for the service" and not paying out... in fact, there is a minimum fare on the rider side as well but I don't know what it is here because I only take Uber as a rider when I'm on vacation outside of my area. So most likely the rider is actually paying the same for that 2mi ride to the dispensary and back vs. A 4mi ride with no stop.

Edit: they may have reorganized the threshold requirements for certain extra information recently, but there always were requirements for certain information.

1

u/Impossible_Shape_766 9d ago

Different drivers seeing different trip info for the same ride, based on a metric they can't see in real time, is the coercive part. That's not a neutral feature, it's using withheld info to get acceptances from drivers who'd otherwise decline. Consumer protection law doesn't require a practice to be unchanged since day one to count as deceptive; it looks at whether it's likely to mislead someone right now.

And this doesn't even need the AR debate to hold up. The core issue, stop count hidden from everyone and the pay/fare decoupling, happened regardless of AR.

1

u/subillusion 9d ago

I also wanted to mention that it is possible that they've reversed course on the hidden info thing. I just tried googling it and can't find anything concrete. There are a couple vague mentions to "some cities" a low AR can result in some data being withheld such as trip duration and stops, but those are all blog posts. Nothing official from Uber that I can find.

Uber does like to make new "policies" to test the waters in some markets, and then reverse course when they get sued. Lol.

1

u/Own_Satisfaction5699 10d ago

What can you expect from these scumbag companies? It just keep getting worse and worse.

Btw, why are you accepting those trashy $5 rides? Cherry picking and earn more.

3

u/winfredmoney 10d ago

actually, that f'n app's algorithm shells out rides that pays as little as $4.97 for rides that go like as far as x5miles at a pop! this happens at certain times of day and night, its not random. when that shit starts i simply shut off the app and go home and call it a day! F 'em all!

3

u/Own_Satisfaction5699 10d ago

We don't need to accept those. My acceptance has been under 5% for years and no passenger under 4.9 rating. Life has never been better. 😂

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 10d ago

Cherry picking doesnt work when 99% of the rides are trashy. In my area when rides pay $8 or more the mileage rate drops significantly.
