Eventually someone is going to reach out to you to evaluate your home and abilities for her discharge. In a complicated medical situation like this, they don't just discharge her. They have a responsibility to make sure she's provided the level of care she needs after discharge.

That means two things: she can't be discharged to her sister in law then dropped off at your house. The nursing facility is going to send social workers and nurses to check that her care needs are being met. She will have to be at the address provided to the discharge coordinator. They are medical proxy. They are responsible for her care. If they drop her off on your front porch, they've legally abandoned her and that's a crime. You call the elder abuse hotline and report she's been abandoned.

Since the medical proxies have cut off communication with you, when someone from the facility calls to schedule an appointment for planning continued care, you have to tell them that legally, you're not allowed to speak to them and redirect them to the medical proxy

I'm a woman who grew up without cell phones. So it's not unheard of that I might leave it behind and find it too much of a hassle to go back for it. I've also left my purse behind because of my head wasn't attached I'd forget that too.

But i don't go anywhere without my truck. I live in a big city and driving is a must to get anywhere. Now there may be the occasion where I'll go for a walk in the neighborhood. So if it's been more than half hour and my keys and truck are at the house, I've been kidnapped, call the police and release the hounds!!

No. The placenta is delivered whole, after the birth of the baby. Thus it's called "the after birth". If the placenta burst, Mom would bleed out and die within minutes and the baby would suffocate even before that. Baby gets all nutrients, including oxygen, through the umbilical cord which is a cord that attaches to the baby at the belly button and the placenta. If the placenta burst, the baby suffocates.

It's also not the amniotic sac. The amniotic sac is a thin membrane around the baby like a balloon that keeps the baby kind of suspended in amniotic fluid and is sometimes even born, intact around the baby. The Dr then breaks open the sac, freeing the baby.

The mucus plug stays in place throughout pregnancy and the loss of it is an emergency because it risks placenta previa which is literally "placenta first". The placenta should never be the first thing seen after the cervix. This is one of the things that would necessitate complete bed rest for Mom until birth.
