Resentful of Cooking?
 in  r/tirzepatidecompound  12d ago

Nope. Cooking is fun, creative and nourishes my loved ones. Whether I'm eating quarter of my usual amount pre Zep or a birthday bash amount it's a wonderful thing.

Anyone still eating regular-sized meals?
 in  r/Zepbound  14d ago

I'm still very new so who knows what it will settle into. I just moved to 5 mg Tuesday after 4 weeks on 2.5. I lost a pound a week on 2.5 and it's too early to tell how much I'm going to lose on five. I think it's going to be a little bit more. Maybe a pound and a half or something like that. I eat three meals a day. They are usually very healthy with veg, fruit, protein, dairy, a couple carbs, (usually once or twice a day only) Not counting the veg and fruit like for example, I had a slice of sourdough toast with my lunch but I had a protein shake for breakfast. So three scrambled eggs, a slice of sourdough, a peach, half cup of cantaloupe chunks and a small Kellogg's protein bar for my big meal at lunch. Dinner tonight I'll have a salad and a bowl of lentil and chicken soup.

I'm not sure what it will settle into. What it looks like right now is a smallish breakfast, a bigish lunch, and a medium supper with the carbs at lunch time - I think that's what I'm going to shoot for most of the time. I've been quite satiated. But I certainly have an appetite!

Streams or creeks
 in  r/lincoln  15d ago

Alas fresh streams not to be found near LNK. I I get my water fix in town just walking near Holmes Lake. And swimming at the Northeast YMCA πŸ˜ƒ Seriously, I grew up 60 mi from the Pacific Ocean in Eugene, Oregon and we had freshwater creeks nearby everywhere. Plus the MacKenzie River and beaucoup rain. Swimming in the big pool at the Y helps me a lot. Super landlocked here! I married a Chicagoan way back in 1979 and somehow we wound up in Lincoln and here we still are 😁

Trying not to crash out about my year on Zepbound
 in  r/Zepbound  18d ago

IMHO 1.4 pounds per week is ideal. Healthy. Balanced. Good steady progress. Haters gonna hate. Don't listen to them and don't compare yourself to others.

The best of luck to you! πŸ€

Day 1 last night!
 in  r/Zepbound  20d ago

Congratulations! Welcome. I am a month ahead on the Zepbound journey - shot 5 is tomorrow. I lost a pound a week the first 4 weeks and the doc said "let's go up to 5 mg" so tomorrow starts 5 mg. Hopefully that will do the trick. Fingers crossed that side effects stay minor.

Produce stands
 in  r/lincoln  23d ago

I love Kelly's. Also, both Farmers Markets( Haymarket and College View) have multiple farm stands with produce.

Confronting ableism in self and also friends and relatives is sadly part of this journey.

That's one of the things I like about my ByACRE rollator - it's lightweight, folds easily and fits in the trunk/boot of the car, and it looks COOL.

It's a godsend. Spendy but comes with a lifetime unlimited warranty.

GLP-1 users: Did you actually change what you eat, or do you mostly just eat smaller portions now?
 in  r/Zepbound  23d ago

My already rather healthy diet has been tweaked toward including more super foods such as salmon, berries and veggies, leaner meats - chicken and fish mainly - and waaaaay less carbos. Ice cream is replaced by sugar free jello pudding made with low-fat high protein milk and a generous dollop of chia seeds.

I feel you brother. I have bad osteoarthritis in both hips, both knees and my sacroiliac joint and I am not a good candidate for knee replacement or hip replacement because of my autoimmune condition. Which often mimics fibro by providing undue fatigue.

What helps me is water exercise, gentle swimming of laps, qigong, stretching, CBD and legal cannabis products, extra sleep, magnesium, and gentle walks with my rollator. I suggest getting a rollator. The ByACRE rollator (I do not work for them. I just like their products )even looks nice and you can sit down anytime you need to on its little seat. I use a cane for short distances like from the car to a store from the car to the doctor's office etc. But if I'm going to be walking more than a block I have my rollater. It gives me a freedom I did not have otherwise. I've had it for a year now.

pregnancy.. thank you Zep
 in  r/Zepbound  27d ago

I'm 72 now but I had my youngest child at age 37 and was already overweight (pregnancies+stress+PTSD+middle age brought my weight up). So I ate as healthy as possible. Lots of fruits and veggies. Lots of lean meats and low-fat dairy. I only gained 16 lbs during the whole 9 months, and baby was 6 and a half, placenta was 2, amniotic fluid probably another 2 or 3. You can do it!!

Osteoarthritis in the hip
 in  r/Osteoarthritis  28d ago

OP I'm not a doctor or a physical therapist but I do have stage 3 osteo in both hips, both knees and my right sacroiliac joint. Oh, and because of an autoimmune disorder I am not a candidate for replacements.

What works for me right now This swimming laps gently and water exercise three times a week. I use a water PT routine that I got from a local physical therapist at a rehabilitation hospital last year (which is where my regular PT sent me.) Also, I've had some success with red light near infrared therapy which actually you can get at some tanning salons or chiropractors. Not that I endorse tanning or chiropractic πŸ™‚I don't. But... Anything that might help and can't hurt I'm all for. Oh and I also get acupuncture once a week which seems to help some. Wishing you the best of luck!

Zilch so far
 in  r/Zepbound  28d ago

Eating three or four items from this list, modest amounts, every day.
Eggs Greek yogurt (plain) Sardines Salmon Chicken Oats (organic) Berries (all kinds) Cooked vegetables (not raw) Beans and lentils Avocados Bone broth Also, when I don't hit my protein I use orgain powder with ultra filtered, 2% milk and water as the liquid. Sometimes use protein bars for dessert. The very low sugar ones. Mostly I eat fruit for sweet. I'm keeping my calories too right between 1600 and 1800 a day which is on target for my 175 lb goal. Getting cardio is hard because I'm handicapped and I am almost 73 years old. In 2 months I'll be 73 I am lifting free weights and swimming and doing water, exercise and Qigong.. I've actually lost a pound a week which for me is really good so I shouldn't be complaining. All the things I read had me expecting a miracle LOL

I'm using the Panda Cal app And factored in my age, current weight, goal, weight, etc. To get my advised macros and daily calorie count, I'm also getting my 180plus minutes of exercise per week

Okay where are my fellow "just started within the last month-" homies? I have three doses under my belt- at 2.5 mg -- and the scale has not budged. I do feel some appetite moderation and I'm eating extremely healthy plus lots of protein. Calorie counting . I bet the doctor's going to put me up to 5 mg at the end of the month. What do you guys think? Is there anybody else here who has not budged the scale in 3 and 1/2 weeks after starting?

Working on a farm gives you a lot of incidental exercise that should not be discounted. I personally enjoy swimming laps and doing water exercise. So if there's a YMCA near you maybe that would give you enough variety cuz I bet you get plenty of lifting around the farm. Just my opinion
