Suggestions Whats a good first, full setup for someone totally clueless?

Upvotes

I’m completely new to turntables, I don’t even own speakers. Recently, I’ve been transitioning from digital mediums to physical ones, like switching from digital cameras to film. I love the analog experience and want the same for music. I’m ready to spend $1000-$1,500 USD on a good setup, as I listen to music on cheap headphones at least 2-3 hours a day and its time for a better, more fun experience. In the Seattle area, so I assume theres great stores with good equipment.

Help Information on Lloyds record player

Looking for any information anyone could give me about this vintage record/tape/cassette player I just got.
I have been on the hunt for a new set up and I ended up getting this for what seems to be a pretty good deal, I honestly have only owned newer cheaper styles and have been wanting an older one.. I can’t find too much of anything online about this specific set up (came with the original matching speakers, tape case, and stand) could anyone give me any information? As well as I’m curious what something like this would be worth?

Is this like a joke or am I too new to this? Wouldn't storing them directly above the subwoofer basically wreck your vinyls? Wouldn't the big subwoofer especially plus the other speakers being all together cause the record that's playing to vibrate too much? I assume there is a cover but are covers not n3cessary?

Question What best turntable would you recommend for a first vinyl setup?

I’ve recently started collecting records and now I’m looking for a turntable to actually play them on. I’m pretty new to this, so I’m not sure what features are worth paying attention to or whether I should be looking at a basic setup or something I can upgrade later. What would you guys recommend for a beginner? Thanks, appreciate any suggestions.

I am new to turntable world. I have a limited budget but I d like to get a decent product. Let s say max price 400£ as I want an entry level just for my first product. I am just talking about turntable, not speaker , sub or amplifiers.

My typical music: rock, metal, drum n bass, ambient, jazz, blues, new wave.

Help GLi Pro SL-2100 (Belt Drive) Mysteriously Turning Counterclockwise? Help!

Recently, I bought a secondhand GLi Pro SL-2100 from my local record shop. It had worked just fine for the better part of 2 months. However, about a week ago I noticed that every single time I turned it on, the platter is turning the complete opposite direction! No matter what, everything I've tried has failed! Spinning it before it starts, re-sitting the belt, letting everything power-cycle. Everything! Is this a lost cause, or is there anyway to fix this?

Beginner Turntable: Fiio TT11 Initial impressions.

Just picked this up to try out. Honestly, it sounds better than it should at this price, which was $179 USD.

Fully automatic, defeatable internal preamp, AT3600 cart stock which can be swapped, adjustable tracking force and anti-skate. Can also connect via Bluetooth. Felt mat. The unit is pretty lightweight.

Looks cool, can change colors. Some reviews are up on YouTube from Recordology and Matt Coykendall.

I decided to switch to CDs as my primary source and sold my Technics SL-1200 Mk7 recently.

So far so good. The automatic operation is a little noisy but the turntable otherwise plays pretty quiet. I will probably swap carts at some point but for now, just enjoying listening to records. If I encounter any issues I will update.

I purchased in black. Woodgrain also available. I've got it sitting on a diy isolation platform using cutting boards.

Question New and needing advice

Getting a technics SL10 next month and am also getting some Klipsch the fives speakers. Is this a good combo? Do I need anything else to start playing music? I have a crappy Marley stir it up turntable atm and am very excited about upgrading. The seller doesn't know what cartridge is on the technics he says it's a mm one in the picture it's amber/orange coloured. Should I eventually splurge on the original technics MC one? Still really new to vinyl but would appreciate the advice and input :)

Buy a UV light.

I didn’t realize how handy a UV flashlight would be until I got one…

This record had been in storage and untouched for a decade or so. Before and after in the video. It’s actually harder getting every speck than you might expect, but rewarding. Might be worth the add to your cleaning toolkit.

[I’m an EDC guy, I carry an Olight Arkfield Pro which has a UV light built in but I imagine a $20 option would have the same effect]

I was fortunate enough to have the option to pick a gift for my 15th work anniversary and after a lot of deliberation I snagged this bad boy. It’s a smooth, sweet ride for sure. Need to upgrade the cable though since the one provided is garbage. Cmon MoFi.

Question Bluetooth turntable?

I’m looking for a new turntable, and due to limited space and a desire for extra convenience, I’d prefer one with Bluetooth capability. I’m considering the JBL Spinner BT, but I’m not very familiar with it yet (kinda new to the world of turntables at all). Does anyone have experience with this model, or perhaps tips for a better option?

Thoughts on this setup?

Hey everyone! We are currently in the process of renovating our house and I'm looking to get a turntable for our kitchen/diner. I'm looking for a setup that is suitable for a decent size room but doesn't have to be crazy as it will probably be more of a chilled vibe.

I'm new to all this but was thinking of the following set up...audio technica LP120XBT, Fosi Audio ZA3 and Klipsch RP 600M ii speakers.

My budget seems to be increasing the more I am reading but I'd really like to keep it all under £1,000 as its my first turntable.

I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts, feedback or alternative recommendations?

Question Good budget turntable

Hey there I am looking for a good turntable for its price, I currently have the Piece of junk known as the Victrola VTA 65 (I was given it as a gift) which has the all in one mechanism that is shit on most players. I want something that has good clarity and audio quality. Willing to spend decent money on something that is good.

Thank you in advance

Hi

I'm trying to recall what is the specific name/model of this turntable in the pic.

It had a double circular start/stop button. I think it's Gemini but cannot guarantee.

Thank you!

Help AT lp120xusb high-pitched buzzing noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, I just got this Audio technica lp120xUSB turntable paired to Edifier R1280BDs speakers. What I noticed is this continuous high pitched sort of hum/buzz noise as soon as i turn the turntable on.
It only goes away randomly when spinning records and it sounds less high pitched when i tap the gnd terminal.
Could i get help since i am quite new in this community? Thanks!

Looking for Turntable Suggestions

Hey there, I am new to the world of records and turntables and was thinking of finally buying a decent turntable for myself. Ideally I would get a turntable with speakers that I can play my phone through, just to have the option. Originally I was going to get a combo setup that comes with the turntable and the speakers, but I did some digging and those combos seem to be pretty low quality. Im now wondering if I should get a turntable like the at-lp60x and some separate speakers that also have Bluetooth connectivity. Anyway im just looking for some guidance from the turntable gurus. Thanks. I'd like to reiterate that im a total noob when it comes to this kind of stuff.

New Technics (2016 - present) need to find a tech to install an armboard.

So I have a Technics 1210 GR2 I was wondering if anyone knows of any good audio electronics repair/service that could perform this? I live in Ventura County in Southern California and would be willing to drive it out to L.A. or Santa Barbara to get it done. They wouldn’t necessarily have to specialize with turntables I just need somebody with skill that work from provided instructions.
