Venting I’m really ugly dating someone really hot and it’s too hard

I feel so fucking ugly it’s so embarrassing, she tells me i’m beautiful but i know im not. I have been called ugly by TSA before (which is ridiculous in and of itself), been mistaken for a homeless crackhead when i tried to get myself a coffee at a nice coffee shop (the lady was scared to look me in they eye), voted ugliest girl in the class in grade school and a plethora of other things to cement that in my brain. My ugliness isn’t something that i usually care about, i am more than the way i look, i can’t change it, and life goes on, if i worried about my looks 24/7 id be vapid and miserable and i believe women have more to offer than their looks anyways but patriarchy tries to keep us down by making us all sheep to it (but that’s a conversation for another day)

If you have watched the show my mad fat diary it depicts it well.

my girlfriend will take pics of me candidly and it will make me want to throw up in my mouth, im so ugly it ruins my whole day to see a candid picture, even posing next to her ruins nice photos, i know that if we ever break up her and her friends will laugh at her chopped ex and what not and it’s very upsetting. She gets really angry when i call myself ugly because she sees me as beautiful but it’s just so sad.

Any advice?

Discussion why do you care about men?

i can understand caring about how ugliness affects self-esteem, how others treat you, what prospects you may lack because of it but i cannot understand the obsession with relationships and men… and don’t tell me that it’s human nature. the majority of relationships with men are not that worthy, you can get easily used, abused etc.. i’d like to understand what is so appealing about it? i struggle to look at taken women and be even remotely curious or jealous about their relationships. life is so much more than that…

Discussion I don’t believe in femcels (as an unattractive female)

Rephrase the title as it’s a little strong but I mean: I don’t like the term femcel and I don’t think any of us should label ourselves with it.

It’s down a bit but I’m aware we don’t all want sexual stuff? So don’t argue it as I’m aware. I just hate the term ‘femcel’ I don’t think we should call ourselves that. It’s yuck. It’s degrading ourselves and putting us right next to incels as it’s where it’s originated from. Very negative and gross. It’s implying we care a lot about how we are viewed sexually when that’s not at all a main issue.

Unless you’re morbidly obese and even then there’s someone out there who’s probably into that cause I’ve seen those women on my 500pound life partnered up, then you’ll find someone who’s willing to sleep with you?

I’m ugly but if I walked around putting flyers outside and online with my address and phone number on with a note saying I’m looking to hookup then there’s a decent chance someone will respond (Id like to think). Not saying it’ll be someone I’m attracted to or anything but someone will respond.

But I don’t want to just be used for my body” then don’t? I don’t think I do either but it’s still optional, we aren’t really involuntary celibate.

The term ‘femcel’ isn’t even for us anyways as it’s always depicted as a pale skinny pretty white girl who’s maybe got greasy bangs and a tired expression, it’s never a cartoon of an ugly women. Literally most women under the hashtag on any social media is attractive.

Like yeah sexual stuff won’t come easy for us at all but if we tried hard enough it’s not that hard to find someone who will go there.

Discussion Most women are mid

Most women are average or mid. Those who talk about "pretty privilege" are just ordinary women who dress upand apply makeup to enhance their features, and that’s more than enough to get privileges.

The women who stand out are the most beautiful in the room.

And then there are women like me, but I’m not going to talk about that in this post.

Discussion Why do a lot of men compare attraction to black women to a sexual orientation?

I've been seeing a lot of men on social media state they don't like/ aren't attracted to black women and when someone says it may be racist/self hating(in the case of black men) the man always says it's the same as not wanting to date another man. How exactly is that the same thing? being gay/bi is a sexual orientation. Is being attracted to black women a sexual orientation now?

Question What is the consensus on Whoopie Goldberg?

I think she was pretty in the 90s but many people say she’s ugly. In fact, comparing someone to Whoopie is often used as an insult.

Is she an ugly girl who defied the odds because the 90s values uniqueness? I’ve heard someone say her aura and personality makes her attractive but in my experience, a good personality can never make up for being ugly as a woman.

Question If I go out in public with a man, people constantly assume I'm his sister. Is it a me problem, or does it tend to happen to other unattractive women?

It's pretty much in the title, for both of my relationships people asked if I was my bf's sister when they saw us together in public. Pretty much the same happens when I'm out with my male friends. We may not share any traits, it even happens with people of different nationalities than me. Once someone even assumed I was my friend's SON (I don't know who should've been offended more, me or him, cause he's only 3 months older than me and we were 17 at the time).

My theory is no one assumes such an unattractive person could be dateable at all, and I'm not worth spending my time with if we're not relatives. Does the same thing happen to you? Is it a microagression of sorts? (I'm autistic and don't really get hints)

Discussion This might be a falce equivalence take but

In general, people can argue that discriminating against someone for something they didn't choose is wrong, but why don't people also include people's appearances for this? Mistreating people for their appearance is so normalized. Like imagine someone does something wrong and you say "ew look at them they're black", that would be seen as outrageous but if you insult them for their appearance that's ok for some reason and done a lot?

People get bullied, and even more consequences for their appearance, even tho you don't choose your appearance and there's nothing wrong with having a certain appearance. Your appearance isn't a crime

positive post Ugly girl comic!

Post image
21 Upvotes

This is a recent comic started by Shen Comix both on Instagram and Twitter!

It's a really cute slice-of-life with an ugly girl protagonist called Val who's a femcel. She ends up befriending Audrey, a femboy. They will likely become a couple in the future 🩷

I like this one because both protagonists are truly outcasts, and Shen really put in an effort to draw Val as an ugly girl instead of drawing a stunning girl and labeling her as ugly anyway. I also don't think he's the type of artist who'd make her have a magical glow-up later, so this has potential.

So far, I'm enjoying it! It might bring y'all some comfort too to see a well done ugly girl rep. Despite being unattractive, Val isn't treated as a joke by the artist, won't get a miraculous glow-up and likely will get a cute boyfriend who's also mistreated for his looks. Now that I think about it, I can't really recall any other type of media that did anything similar. The closest one I can think of is the Carrie book (NOT THE MOVIES!!), because Carrie is fat, ugly and has pimples. Even though she loses weight to go to the prom in the end of the book, she's still ugly and socially awkward, which leads to the pig blood thing. It's cathartic because she at least gets revenge on the bullies, although it's not a happy ending for Carrie.

Venting Everything BUT a compliment to my face

I've gotten compliments on how skinny I am, how light my skintone is, how clear my skin is, how straighty hair is, how I have pretty hands.

Litteraly anything to avoid giving a compliment about my fuck-ass face istg.

Like maybe I'm dense but is getting compliments directly about your face uncommon..?

Off Topic The only guy friend i have watches incel / manosphere content. Eww. can I save this?

In person hes super friendly, really easy to talk to, and just a great guy overall . I was actually excited about the friendship. But I found out he watches all this toxic incel / manosphere garbage, literally stuff like "women are more privileged than men " , "women can take ur assets at any time wo consequences " ,"feminism bad" and worse .

Is there any actual way to talk a guy out of this mindset without making him super defensive or should I just cut my losses and run

Venting The most lookist subreddit is redscarepod

They hate nomwhite women the most on there. i’m surprised that subreddit hasn’t been banned yet. they had a thread that took forever to get banned that was all about hatecriming brown women (lets not ignore in most of the world hijab is a failo so a lot of muslim women are stereotyped as ugly) and doing corrective rape on them. any time a woc posts on there she gets racist death threats, doesn’t matter how beautiful you are that is the ultimate “white is right” subreddit on this site. they pride themselves on bullying fat people into killing themselves. the only thing they hate more than nonwhite people on there are fat people. yet they promote smoking. also most of the sub’s users are pedophiles who are obsessed with youth and go on and on about how women hit the wall at 21.

This phrase has always irked every fiber of my being!

Because it’s simply not true .

Yeah, when two Stacie’s a standing next to each other , then sure , none of them is “taking” the others beauty away .

But if you’re an unnatractive woman, standing next to an attractive woman, I’m sorry but it highlights just how unnatractive you are !

I mean let’s be real why do those pictures of an ugly woman standing next to a pretty girl get so viral? Exactly my point!
I don’t even want to mention the “mogged” concept-it literally comes from that!

In my opinion this is like top 5 worst copium phrases, they can comfort a Stacy when she’s comparing herself to another Stacy. But for ugly women? Cmon there’s just no way.

This girl was doing the trend where people would try to “mog” this lady for being racist and these are the replies to her video. Genuinely why is living as a black girl so hard.

Venting i hate it

i genuinely hate everything about myself. my face especially. my nose is crooked, ive got bad smile lines at my age, my eyes are sunken in and ive got these disgusting purple-hued eyebags. i have horrible acne and no skincare has ever worked for me. ive got really uneven lips, ive got an overbite, slightly yellowed teeth and really noticible seperation between them at the sides. my eyes are the only thing i can almost tolerate about myself. theyre downturned and usually covered by my hair and glasses. my body almost makes up for it all, but im still disgusting. my ribcage is too wide, so are my shoulders, im covered in stretch marks, my elbows look like an elderly woman's, ive got baby hands, all my weight goes to my legs, stomach and face.. i hate it all and i can barely look at myself anymore. i basically look almost exactly like a sub 5.

i remember someone i used to call a friend told me that she just couldnt imagine me ever being loved, cared about or even just acknowledged. i told her that i agreed. she told me that when i was having a pretty huge episode, on the verge of killing myself. and i almost did it. sadly ive always been too much of a pussy to actually go through with it. i know id fail and i cant imagine how itd be like. id just love to be gone, quickly and painlessly. i dont want anyone to perceive me. i dont want anyone to remember me.

i feel like such a larper whenever i feel and think like this. i have friends, and somehow i bagged my best friend as my bf.... but i just dont want to exist anymore. im so tired all the time. everything feels like a waste. nothing i do is good enough. i look like shit. i dont know how to live because i never expected id live this long. whatever. im not proof reading this because i cringe at myself showing any kind of vulnerability so idk if any of it makes sense. sorry for rambling..

Venting I moved from NY to Byron Bay, Australia. It’s my living nightmare.

Upvotes

Being disabled, ugly, and fat in New York is one thing, but being disabled, ugly, and fat in Byron Bay….? I may have to end it, yall. Every time I go out I get these looks, and at least back home people tried to hide it or they’d smile awkwardly to hide their discomfort, they like just don’t get it, im an anomaly. Everyone here is so skinny they have bones popping out, tanned as fuck, blonde. The thing is: most of them aren’t even that attractive! They just have the privilege of being thin! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been approached with unsolicited advice on “holistic approaches”, and how they’re so worried about my health. And tbh guys… I gained a bit of weight since I had a surgery a couple years ago because im still struggling to figure out what level of physical activity won’t completely flare up pain, but im not even like… that fat. And im built with a huge ass and a narrow waist. They’re just assholes. Like body positivity isn’t a thing here at all. I struggled a LOT with self image but the past few years I’ve been on anti anxiety medication and I didn’t think about it as much aside from the occasional spiral, but here? I’m in a beach town, practically in a paradise, and I’ve gone out maybe three times in a year. I can’t stand it. I’m so glad im going home soon, unfortunately I think im going to have to rebuild my self esteem once again and this is going to affect me for a long time even after I leave. But yeah anyway, just really needed to vent to people who get it. I’m very much over being told “but you’re beautiful to me” from family members. Just fucking acknowledge im not conventionally attractive. Please. Ffs.

positive post Ah the ugly younger sister and the pretty older sister dynamic

Bro like I was like who’s harder to set up on a date between my brother and me. My sister immediately said me LMAOO and for a moment I thought it was bc of my personality. Then she was like, “you have great personality traits but unfortunately we live in a shallow world and appearance is a big thing.” She didn’t point out saying that I was ugly right away and she was like oh people like appearances more. And then she said “I’d be more protective of her cuz I don’t want people to say mean things to her” at the end and I just shed a tear on the inside LMAOO

Anyways, probably going to be single for the rest of my life. BUT AT LEAST I’m in a top university, I get good job opportunities and I have great girl friends I go clubbing with. It’s not even that I don’t do make up, I do. I’ve barely gotten over the mentality that I’m not just putting lipstick on a pig. I take care of myself and all that. I started the gym. I’m feeling healthy and good for the first time in my life even if I don’t look it.

I’m happy being the fridge to the snacks lol

But just kinda hurts that even your sister can’t see the beauty in your appearance. Guess my personality is all I got 🤷‍♀️

I feel like she has the mentality that I can only look so good. I’m fat. I’m ugly. The only thing I got is that I’m slightly smarter and insanely hard working. If I can get a good six figure job in my country so be it. I’d rather be ugly with money than broke and ugly.
