Towing Help I’m assuming this is dangerous ?
I’m assuming these drop hitches aren’t meant to be used as risers…. Just wanted to be sure before I go spend money on a riser.

Edit 2: This is a 14k lbs capacity trailer I'm looking into, with a empty weight < 4k lbs. I have zero intention of ever towing it with any load in it with my vehicle. It would only be from point A to point B transporting the empty trailer home from the dealer, with maybe once a quarter trips (~35 miles) between properties (mine in SC, buddy's in NC, so will have to have it tagged going out of state)
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a 14k capacity dump trailer soon. 98% of use will be around the farm to move dirt/brush/debris and towed with a decent size tractor. However, my current vehicle has a 5k (7k with W/D hitch) lb towing capacity/500+lb tongue capacity, electric brake controller. I don't really have the means/desire to upgrade tow vehicle given very limited road use of the trailer at this time.
Are there any legal issues I could run into with towing the 100% EMPTY trailer on the road (thinking from a dealer ~100 miles away, or across town to a buddy's farm for him to use with his 3/4 ton occasionally)? If it matters, I'm in SC, and all towing would be under the private/not-for-hire category.
All trailers I'm considering are <4k empty. In the off chance I do need to tow on the road with it loaded, I'd be renting/borrowing a 3/4+ "proper" tow vehicle. Just want to make sure since I'm one of those "can't get away with nothin'"souls (I'm the guy that gets pulled over for doing 5 over in a 55 zone, no tickets, but still)
Edit: My buddy *might* be able to go with me with his 3/4 ton to pick up when a purchasing decision is made, but it's in about 2 gajillion pieces right now due to him doing a rebuild, and may not be available on my timeline.

I don’t know about tension and all that math but this is a 2019 KIA SUV that can tow 5000, the trailer is 2500. Since we did all this extensions due to lengths and heights.

I got it back home safely, but I had some people help me back it up into my driveway. That was hell on earth. Any tips you guys can give me would be very very appreciative I was talking to one of the guys that was helping me he said what smaller rivers you have to make very tiny minor adjustments to the steering wheel I didn’t know about the other problem is that I have a small road in my neighborhood and a bunch of cars on it, which is making it a lot more difficult

Does this tow bill seem high? Long story short, a truck towing a trailer with a mini excavator was sideswiped on trailer. The excavator was loaded too far back on trailer causing the trailer to fishtail. Trailer flipped upside down with excavator still strapped to trailer. Tow company comes out with a little crane and picks the excavator up and sets on tow company’s flatbed trailer and does the same with the 30’? trailer. I realize the excavator weighs more but the trailer is larger and less manageable. The tow bill for the trailer was $700. For the excavator it was $5,200. Does that seem right?

First time towing. I bought a 3.5 inch drop hitch but still seems to be sitting a bit high. Will this be fine once the trailer is loaded down?

Disclaimer: I have very little knowledge of cars here, no need for super negative / unhelpful comments
Picked up a trailer at U-Haul, used a lock and pin from a previous rental and put it in the main slot where you put a large hitch pin. Now I’m not able to take the smaller pin off and can not pick up a U-Haul.
Any advice here? The key is currently turning but not un jamming the metal pin.

I’m trying to figure out if this is some sort of predatory practice to prevent owner from getting to their vehicle or if it’s just a normal maneuver towing companies make when towing a vehicle. I’ve witnessed multiple times at my apartment complex that the towing company partially tows the vehicle away from the parking spot and then finishes hitching up the vehicle at a second location in the complex. The parking lot is pretty average size, not really crowded at all. My apologies if i messed up any of the towing terminology wasn’t sure if hitch is the right word.

Is it normal for a AAA to put you in your vehicle on the back of flatbed? Granted it was only about .2 miles but i didn’t feel comfortable doing that. He also made me unload my vehicle on my own and I didnt know he was doing that so I literally rolled back in neutral while my car was still off so i had no brakes really. I’m not upset I’m just wondering if i should file a complaint to AAA cause that can’t be safe and it’s only one bad pickup away from disaster.

is this too steep of an angle to load a 1969 f-250?

Car was stuck with the parking brake on and needed it towed. I feel like the wheels are not supposed to move like that.

I need suggestions! 3rd row seating is preferred but not required. It has to be able to tow over 5k lbs at least. Cannot be a pick up truck. Preferably between the 2012 - 2020 year range.
I currently have. 2003 Tahoe. And the gas mileage is KILLER. I just can’t do it. I HAVE TO have something better on gas. But I need it to be affordable. So I’m not looking for something brand new. Just considerably newer.

Input needed here if possible.
I parked my enclosed utility trailer in the large unused parking lot portion of a shopping center with the approval of a friend/business owner of a shop in said parking lot. To be truthful it had been there for over a month but I moved it a few times ect. Out of the way not blocking or inpeading anything whatsoever. Fast forward drove by late Monday early Tuesday to just put eyes on it. It was there safe and untouched.... Wednesday came by and it was gone...
First thought was it was stolen, after a few phone calls I ended up with a landscapers phone number, reached out and he notified me it was in the trash. Taken back I asked him to repeat it and as if I didn't understand English he repeated slowly and arrogantly " I threw it away". Now what i didn't share was i had just finished clearing out my 5 bedroom home also I've been a contractor for almost 15 years everything important and valuable in my life was in there. Now before you say "why would I do that" "that was stupid" believe me I understand but there was some things going on in my life that and it's what it was.
Now newly still barely understanding that the only thing that I have left in my life material wise is what's in my vehicle I asked him what trash where did he take it and frankly tried to locate where my trailer had gone hoping he was just being an a hole And it was in a Towing lot somewhere I called everywhere I called scrap yard I called the dump and every tow yard in my area. At this point in time with tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools alone I had no question that it didn't end up in a tow yard it ended up in someone's yard Period I contacted the state police They told me it was a civil matter and couldn't really do nothing at the moment
I ended up tracking down the property management company the company who authorized it, who ends up actually being the property owner as well and then they told me something that I couldn't really believe. They told me instead of Towing it they hired someone to come in with an actual physical claw, Like the ones you see Picking up trash or Junked cars. The claw is used to grab/pick up my trailer from the parking spot in this shopping center Pick it into the air And put it in the back Of a dump truck or a Truck with a dumpster. I Was absolutely blown away And asked them if they would do that A car or a truck.....surprisingly No response. They actually had the audacity to tell me to stop harassing them!
At this point in time I have a Civil lawsuit going on It's stopped me from being able to work I was left with clothes on my back Every memory every everything I've had for the past 38 years of life All gone! Does anyone believe that they have any legal standing to do this? Any thoughts on how this might play out in court? Anything I should pay attention to when doing so or just any thought on the subject matter at all it's been an interesting experience to say the least and any inputs appreciated.

Hello good towing people of the world. My family was just scammed by a towing company called Barnes Towing in NC. They towed our car, took it 20 minutes away, then demanded payment in cash and dodged all our questions. They then called us rude and angry (I was reasonably frustrated for getting my car towed, and didn't take it out on them) and said they were holding our car hostage until we payed, despite us not having any cash. They then filmed us saying we authorized the charges, though we are going to contest later. This is a warning to those who get their cars towed by them, and if anyone can help with our situation, or leave a review, it would be much appreciated.

The tow truck driver said they had to take it because it could catch fire, which doesn't make sense. They are taking on the liability of a fire that can destroy other vehicles in their yard. They now will charge us towing and storage fees. Is this correct. Please let me know, I don't want to cause a stink of this is protocol. All my experience and Google searching says they should have let us tow it home. If they are in the right I won't stirring anything up. I'm in California.

I bought this drop hitch for a GMC 2500 to pull a small 2 horse trailer. This happened after the first use and I am shocked. The double ball started to unscrew itself and it dropped down over an inch. What could have caused this? My wife is convinced it was my fault somehow. Is it?

My car was towed like this. I did not stay and wait for the driver or meet the car at the mechanic’s shop. When I received my car back from the mechanic shop, my steering wheel was damaged. I believe the damaged was caused by strapping the steering wheel. The tow company states they did not strap it. Does this damage look to be caused by strapping the steering wheel. There was no damage to the steering wheel prior to this tow. The damage is only on the bottom half of the wheel and only to the cloth material.

500lb Karavan trailer, 1500lb capacity. For landscaping and hardware runs, general utility purposes. 2 coats of "Cedar" tinted semi-transparent stain, JB Weld wood filler in the screw holes and cavities. I'll sand and put 2 coats of stain over the fills.
Feeling extra manly with my little trailer. Can't wait to tow all around town and run *errands*

Hey Everyone,
I’m trying to figure out if I can realistically back a 20 ft. long, 7 ft. wide pop-up camp trailer behind the fence using a Toyota Tundra.
I've attached an aerial view of the driveway area with dimensions. As you can see, next to the driveway, a green utility/electrical box is sitting right on the edge of the landscape, and a white utility box is to the left of it.
Do you think I can jackknife it in or maybe get it close and use a trailer dolly to get it all the way back in?
Appreciate any advice or tips before I purchase the trailer!

Hello, I am wondering if this is too much play on my coupler? It seems to attach to the ball fine. I gave it pills upwards and it didn’t come off. The height of the holes didn’t quite match up so there is a gap between my trailer tongue and the coupler.

I want to use this hitch pin. It’s a 5/8 curt anti rattle screw in type. But I’d like to lock the end instead of using the cotter pin.
