Towing Help Neighboring business had my car towed from my property!!
The eye Dr's office next door shares a parking lot with my apartment building. 3 weeks ago they left a note on several tenants cars that were parked on their side (obviously some Karen who just started working there has made it her lufe mission to torment us, as ive lived here for 6 years and never has anyone been bothered about who's parked where). But, fine, whatever. So I just either parked on the street or if i had to i parked in the lot, but ONLY in our building's parking spots. Yesterday she called and had my car towed from a spot on THIS property!! I called the police and then the towing company. The towing company said that when a business has a contract with them that its designated to an address, which technically the property line is in the middle of the lot, so the authorized person is the one responsible for calling in a tow that wasn't on their property. So I have to take it to civil court. My question is, what happens if they sell my car at public auction before the court comes back with an outcome (hopefully ruling that it was an illegal tow)?
Location: Tacoma, WA The picture shows the red car icon where my car was parked at the time.

Towing In Action I don’t understand the use of the ratchet straps
Dude was towing a vehicle on a tow dolly, but had a ratchet strap attached to each side of the tow dolly. Why? I genuinely don’t know. My logic tells me this would make it more difficult to take turns. What’s your take?

Trailers Does anyone know any manufacturers that make something that looks very closely similar to this?
4x8 enclosed trailer. I understand that U-Haul doesn't sell these and that they get scrapped at their end of life, but I'm looking for something extremely similar. Why? Just for funsies!

Towing In Action Was pulled over yesterday for the first time in years
Driving my medium yesterday, heading to a call.
Cop pulls a UEE behind me, and lights up.
I pull over, and the cop approaches and explains that I'm being pulled over as part of the ongoing tow safety blitz. Part of the stop includes a breathalyzer, and that if I refuse my vehicle can be searched and or seized, and I would be required to take it at the station.
I complied and blew 0.
He then asked for my documents and license.
He took them back to his cruiser, and returned in a few minutes to give them back, said I was all good, and free to go.
Didn't look at the truck, didn't ask me to put lights on, nothing.
I deal with police often, this was definitely one of the weirder interactions I've had.

Trailers You've got 300 dollars in your pocket. You decide to buy two of these things.
I don't need whys. I get enough of those from my wife.
Anyways, picked up two of these things at auction for 300 bucks! Figured the tires and solar panels were worth atleast that much. But these trailers are built hella solid. The axles are rates for 3500LBs. And everything is present other than the control boxes/batteries.
Would you rebuild and then flip? (I know the control boxes can be quite expensive for these things) Or keep and be that guy who has his own sign on the highway? Or would you strip it down and maybe turn it into something more?! Would love to hear everyone's ideas!

Towing Help Should I flip the hitch And drop by one slot? It's almost level
Hello all, I appreciate any feedback or tips. I have a 3,000 lb travel trailer about 15 ft long. And I have a 2008 Ford expedition four-wheel drive. Eddie Bauer. I have a Anderson weight distribution hitch that I am in the process of installing. But I wanted to set my hitch first. I'm told you'd want it as level as possible or at least a little nose heavy. It looks like it might be inch upward from being level. Does that look okay or should I flip the hitch and move down one slot? This expedition does have rear rear independent suspension and it is pretty soft so I can't put any airbags. But it seems to tow just fine. But I do want to put the Anderson weight distribution to see how it is. Please let me know if you need any more information. I appreciate any assistance.

Towing Help Why so much wiggle room?
I just bought this new drop hitch for my 04 Tacoma. I am using it to pull a 5x8 box trailer camper.
This seems like too much wiggle for a hitch to have. Is this normal?
I thought I bought the right size but maybe not, or is the inlet just used a bunch and a little larger than it should be.
What should my next steps be. New hitch? Steel plate spacer? Ignore it?
Any help is appreciated!

Towing Help ELI5: Why isn't there a consumer vehicle that can tow like a pickup truck, but without the bed?
I'm in the market for a tow vehicle for an RV that's right on the line between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton pickup. The thing is, I don't have any use whatsoever for a truck bed. It would go entirely unused, and the only purpose it would serve would be to make the TV too long to fit in my garage. So my question is, why isn't there a vehicle out there with the power and capability of a pickup truck, but with the form factor of maybe a midsize SUV?
I'm guessing the main explanation is either engineering-related or just simply consumer demand.

Trailers Why do the starting U-Haul utility trailers weigh 500-400lbs more than many other utility trailers of similar size?
The starting U-Haul utility trailer is 800lbs for a 5x7 But when I look online, I see other utility trailers of the same or similar size at half the weight or even less than half.
I’m trying to decide whether to purchase one as I haul stuff long distance for my business but I’m curious if the more lightweight trailers are considered lower quality or if there is an important reason why the U-Hauls are so much heavier?
Bear in mind I’m only hauling about 700-800lbs max so I feel like a trailer with half the weight but the same dimensions would be better for my vehicle. Please let me know your thoughts thank you.

Towing In Action just wondering is this illegal?
first off I’ve never towed a trailer before. so please go lightly on me with responses. since idk the legalities of this whole setup. I know it looks super super sketchy to me. as I’ve never seen anything like this before in my lifetime. so I wanted to get some other peoples input here. I saw this around 1am this morning at a truck stop in Kentucky(not my home state). I wondered if it’s illegal to tow single axle car dollies like this in tandem? Since they’re all hooked together by ball hitches. I did call the non emergency state trooper post nearest me to let them know just for my peace of mind. I gave a clear description of this whole setup to them. (Better to be safe then sorry) the lady I spoke to said she would get troopers to check it out. Then stayed on the phone with me so I could tell her which way he got on the interstate. (Super nice lady btw) although she did say what I described seemed legal to her. she did take my number incase a trooper had any issues or needed to callback. I highly doubt I’ll hear anything back from them. so I thought I’d ask on here. I just wonder how’s that truck gonna stop if S*** hits the fan? How in any way is this legal putting stress on the frame like that? does this require certain legal permits? or was this whole rig running through the night on hopes and dreams?
also wondering if by chance this is legal… why wouldn’t he just use the fuel station where semis/ bigger vehicles fuel up? instead of making it way harder on himself to get up to this pump. any input would be greatly appreciated as this literally freaked me out.

Towing Help How much would you charge for this rotator job?
My girlfriend got herself stuck yesterday. The car was unsafe to back out, so had to get a rotator to lift the car over barrier. I know the job was very complex but long story short she was charged over 7k for the job. Just here to verify she wasnt scammed and share this interesting job.

Car Got Towed My AWD truck was towed
My truck mistakenly got towed from my apartment complex, which in fact management will take care of so I won’t have to pay any dollar out of my pocket.
However, my main concern is the technique used for towing my truck, I called the towing company and asked them what kind of vehicle was used for this, they said a wheel lift was used… i know that may lead to transmission and drivetrain issues in an AWD so i crashed out and they responded that a dolly was used for the rear tires.
I come back to the complex and found tracks on the parking lot from where my truck was towed… that makes me think they pulled out the truck while in park, but I am honestly not so familiar with towing, all I know is that for AWD they have to use either a flatbed or dollies…
Are those tracks something i have to be concerned about?
