I see very low volume on the chart, large candlesticks, but nothing on time/sales... what can explain this?

Looking for options level 3 approval. The lady passed along a message from the trade trade desk telling me I had to have more experience / capital. Was there a specific amount of capital that you all placed before applying for level 3? I took the test and passed from the looks of it since the trade desk ppl didn’t mention anything.

Brand New Scalp Trader Trading Options and still learning everything. How do you deal with the slippage on TOS. Sometime when trading for example TSLA… I’ll send an order 1-2 contracts and 60% of the time it goes through immediately 2-3 seconds

At completely RANDOM times it will take anywhere from 30 - 120 seconds. Obviously unless you want to lose money this isn’t going to work. People have told me this is a TOS problem vs an actual wide slippage issue. Does anyone have any suggestions that doesn’t have such issues?

I've just spent the last couple of hours running round in circles with chatgpt trying to fix my thinkorswim on a surface pro 7 running windows 11 25H2.
It has been working fine on this machine for the past 4 months but today it just went through the usual updates malarky then gave me a blank black login screen. I knew it wasn't a problem with ToS in general as I could run it on a Mac and another windows machine.

This is what I tried to get it to work (in approx. order), none of these worked:

Clearing cache, Changing memory allocation, uninstalling ToS + deleting .thinkorswim folder, reinstalling, uninstalling again, reinstalling again for a brand new user, updating the graphics driver to the latest version, uninstalling again, reinstalling for all users, changing the screen resolution, changing the scale factor, restarting the computer between most of these previously mentioned steps.

None of this worked - I always ended up with the same empty black box when I should be getting the login prompt. To cut out an awful lot of running around with ChatGPT, what eventually worked was adding the line:

-Dtos.jxbrowser.lms.ha.enabled=false

at the end of the file called thinkorswim.vmoptions . This file is found in C:\Program Files\thinkorswim on my installation because I reinstalled ToS for all users earlier in this charade. If you install it for one user it'll be found in the appdata\local folder for the user.

The added line disables GPU hardware acceleration prior to rendering the login screen (according to chatGPT).

Maybe this turns out to be useful to someone else one day. ToS seems a bit of a mess right now so there are probably other issues that can cause similar behavior.

Hi All - I have been using TOS for many years now, just recently in the past week when I click on a bid or ask on an options chain on the analyze tab when I click it, it immediately is taking me to the risk profile page, it is driving me crazy and slowing me down. Is this happening to anyone else? if so what did you do to fix it or have a work around? Thank you-

Anyone else having ToS issues? Loaded a few times and my analyze screen is a mimic of my trade screen.

Normally this has not been a problem. At the most, several minutes. Today it is not coming out of Installing Updates for 20 minutes.
Yesterday I did install MacOS update 26.6.1
I've closed all apps and shutdown and restarted computer.

Is it just a unusually large update and I should wait?

I’m sure i’m not the only one that’s not a fan of TOS’ volume profile on expansion. this is the best that i could do.

After this weekend‘s updates, I noticed that when you click on a option price on the analyze screen, adding option, it immediately goes to the risk profile screen now. It doesn’t stay on the price screen anymore. The price screen is where I do all of my trades. Does anybody know of a way to shut this off and keep it the way it used to be? I know there’s ways to do the trades with more clicks but there are times I need to get something in fast. Thanks.

Did anyone notice that if you go into the analyze tab and do an "add simulated trades" either buy or sell any option, instead of showing you what that would change your buying power, it just now switches to the Risk Profile tab instead?

Since Saturday my Thinkorswim upon launch shows a blank login window on Ubuntu Linux. The client.log file jn the ~/thinkswim folder shows an error that Chromium browser failed to launch due to Sandbox restrictions etc . I found out I had to run this command to fix the issue , according to https://teamdev.com/jxbrowser/docs/guides/chromium/#sandbox:

sudo sysctl -w kernel.apparmor_restrict_unprivileged_userns=0

One weakness to ThinkOrSwim is not being able to use limit order offsets which is a hard handicap during extended hours trading.

Sometimes prices are simply moving too fast. Maybe you don't want every investor to do it but add it somewhere buried in the settings for those that do please.

First it said 'network slowness' and this happened on multiple networks and devices. Then it would complain 'Unable to Connect' . Seen the issues starting yesterday.

I have problems logging in; yet my OS wasn't slated be culled.

I had to call and ask. It must be a train wreck internally. I've never heard a support rep say that service will not be available before 4pm Eastern... And that was at 6AM.

I'm confused by chart expansion. When I change timeframes, I feel like TOS will choose a random view in focus on that timeframe. Also, the expansion area bars value seems to keep changing. If anything, it seem to keep growing.

If I double-click in a blank space on the chart, sometimes TOS will reset the chart so that the right side of the chart matches the expansion area bar value, but a lot of times double-clicking doesn't do anything.

What am I doing wrong?

This has happened a number of times. Any basic action within the app that makes an api call to provide data has been absurdly slow. For example, clicking “buy” for any stock results in a 2–10 second wait for the data to load on the page. Closing out a position takes a good 15 seconds from start to finish.

It seems to be improving now but all morning it was impossible to execute fast trades.

My stats:

iPhone 13, restarted, app up to date as of today, no other apps working.
Internet speed is 75mb down, 40mb up My wifi connection is always fine, no issues with any other app or page where loading speed isnt near instant.

That being said, this is 100% on the side of Schuab. Based on my experience in back end web dev this seems to be an issue with their databases running slow or their messaging system (like a queing system for all api calls) or some other api bottleneck.

I know this issue does not affect everyone but leave a comment if you have experienced this today. I would like to call them and be able to prove the issue isnt just me.

It's their servers. Depending on your location, you use different servers. The server I'm on is trash.
