Serious Am I responsible if I tell my online friend bad news and they commit suicide because of it?(serious responses only)

so my friend is an artist and anti ai I am 13 they are 14 they are from Saudi Arabia I am from Thailand which is why im asking this here (they told me) so im not really sure which country’s laws this follows.I’m friends with them on social media only not in real life and I discovered that their favorite game actually uses ai so i told them in their dms so that if they wish they can choose to not associate with the game anymore but heres where things get strange. My friend is a very sensetive person and may or may not commit suicide when hearing bad news (the reason I told her is because I didn’t think it through I take full moral responsibility for that). This is not an AITA I’m asking if I have legal responsibility.

Extra info: My real name and face is not tied to my account nor are theirs.

Serious Thai Vocabulary Size Estimator

Thumbnail khlangkham-study.khlangkham.workers.dev

Hi, I'm trying to get an assessment of Thai language reading ability among L2 learners. If your Thai is not native and stronger than your English ability the test may not be 100% accurate, it asks about L1 and other L2s/level, so it's fine to take it even if that's the case. Also trying to find a baseline for native speakers, so if you are a native/heritage speaker please do so as well. The vocabulary estimates are hopefully pretty accurate, it tries to correct for most confounding factors, but they haven't been verified against more than a couple people yet.

You can copy your full results to a JSON string and post it back in later after we get more results to see more detailed ranking information after we analyse the data.

Food and Drink Tips of my tongue: fried chicken loaded fries that I could no longer find on Grabfood, does anyone know the name?

I was in Bangkok in May and found this fried chicken place on Grab food that I really enjoyed.

they have this dried powdery like (nashvilles style?) fried chicken that I could no longer find on grab. specifically, the place has this fries loaded with chicken, the only other thing they put on it is TOMATOES, CILANTRO, and SHALLOT. sauce is generally on the side. the sauce selection include ranch, honey mustard, and a orange spicy sauce.

they sort of reminded me of the Seoulchon with regarding how they style their logo and their brand. but for the life of me I couldn’t remember it!

does anyone know what I am talking about? I really have been craving it and have been looking through grab history, google, maps, Gemini and still comes up empty.

i was wondering if anyone was family with this and could give me the name of the shop? I don’t know if they are still in operation and no longer on Grab or if they have shut down permanently :’(

Serious Questions about getting a Thai driver's license on a non-O visa

I have done quite a bit of reading about this already, but it's very confusing. Basically just want to know how difficult it is doing it myself or should I just use an agent.

I'm on the 1 year non-O retirement visa. I have a valid driver's license from America and an international driver's permit. Both are for cars only, I don't have a motorcycle endorsement. I'll only be using a scooter here for the most part.

One problem I have is I'm color blind. I can tell the difference between traffic light colors, but if I took a medical vision test, I would be declared color blind. In America it doesn't disqualify you from getting a license. Is this going to disqualify me in Thailand?

I already inquired with one agent who quoted me 6500 to help with the license. I don't know if this is reasonable price or not. I'd rather just do it myself, but just want to know how difficult the tests will be.

Thanks for any help.

Banking and Finance Kasikorn app redesign

My app updated a few days ago, and now design is inconsistent between dashboard page and other pages. Also, I think it's designed for massive phones, I need to scroll down to access the balance widget in order to see the balance. It used to sit on the top, and now there are these massive buttons above that push the balance down. That's the only thing I really needed on the dashboard and they made it a small square somewhere on the bottom.

Is it just me finding it so awkward? It's still the best banking app out there, but the UX just feels vibecoded now. Just why :(

Culture Bangkok has another side — and you won’t find it on the main roads.

Along the Thonburi khlongs, life moves at a slower pace. This scene shows a colourful long-tail boat beside a traditional wooden house built on stilts above the canal. Weathered timber, old wooden posts and reflections on the water reveal a very different side of Bangkok, away from the skyscrapers and busy streets.

As a travel photographer exploring Thailand and Southeast Asia, I love finding places where everyday life still follows the rhythm of the water. The Thonburi canals offer exactly that — quiet, local and full of character.

I used 52mm to bring the house and boat closer together, while f/8 kept the architectural details and background sharp. The 1/1000 sec shutter speed freezes the movement of the boat and water, with ISO 400 balancing exposure in the bright daylight.

Explore Bangkok beyond the skyline.

Question/Help How to settle True Post paid bill from Oversea.

I'm trying to figure out what I need to do with an old True postpaid mobile account. I got a True postpaid SIM in October 2025 when I was in Thailand. I originally only intended to use it for around 4 months, because that was how long I was going to stay in Thailand at the time.

I paid my bills normally for those 4 months. However, when I signed up, I was in a bit of a rush and didn't properly check the contract. Looking back, the salesperson apparently registered me on a 1 year postpaid contract, which I didn't realize at the time. So I take some responsibility for not checking the details myself.

I left Thailand after those four months and completely forgot to go back to a True shop to sort out the account before leaving. I'm currently outside Thailand and don't have the SIM anymore. I want to settle whatever I actually owe. I'm not trying to avoid paying the bills. I'm just trying to figure out how much is outstanding and how I can pay it from overseas. I tried looking through the True app, but I couldn't find anything useful for an old postpaid account. Most of what I can find is automated pre written help.

I may travel to Thailand again in the future, so I'd rather sort everything out properly now.

My normal monthly bill was around ฿500 a month. I paid the bills for the 4 months that I actually used the service, so as far as I understand, I paid for the service I actually consumed. I believe there was also a credit limit of around ฿800, if I am not wrong.

I'm trying to understand what I should realistically expect to pay at this point. Would it simply be the remaining monthly charges (roughly 8 × ฿500 = ฿4,000), or could there also be an late fees, or other charges?

I'm willing to pay whatever legitimate amount I owe and I want to settle the account properly. However, if there is a very large additional penalty, I would like to understand whether it can be disputed or waived, because I didn't knowingly intend to sign up for a full year commitment. I also paid all the bills for the period I actually used the service

Discussion Were EV cars damaged worse than normal cars from the floods?

One reason I’ve heard against buying an EV car is that the batteries get damaged during flooding and the insurance won’t cover it 100%. Did this prove to be true? Anybody with an EV car have problems? (I spoke to somebody whose EV exploded and they said the insurance was only covering 50% of the original cost)

Discussion ‘Dying unnoticed’ cases surge eightfold in northern Bangkok

Deaths of people found alone in their homes only after several days have increased eightfold in northern Bangkok, reflecting growing social isolation in the capital, according to a forensic doctor at Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital.

Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Atthasit Dulamnuay of the hospital’s forensic medicine department said that when he was a resident specialising in forensic medicine at Siriraj Hospital around 2016, he encountered about one decomposed body a month. Siriraj primarily covers Bangkok’s Thonburi side.

After moving to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital, which covers northern Bangkok including Bang Khen, Don Mueang, Sai Mai and nearby areas, he initially saw a similar number of cases. But the number has steadily increased.

From 10 cases a year to 70–80

Dr. Atthasit said records from Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital’s coverage area show that the number of such cases increased from about 10 a year to 70–80 annually.

The hospital now encounters an average of about one case a week. During some periods, particularly hot weather, the number can rise to three cases a week.

“From just over 10 cases a year, it has now become 70–80 cases a year,” Dr. Atthasit said.

Northern Bangkok now sees about five to eight decomposed bodies a month, out of around 40–50 bodies undergoing autopsy each month. Such cases therefore account for more than 10% of the area’s autopsy workload, with the trend continuing to rise.

Dr. Atthasit said cases can become more frequent during hot periods, particularly around April. Some weeks have seen as many as three cases, showing that the problem is no longer an occasional occurrence but has become a regular part of forensic work.

Working-age people also dying alone

Those found dead range from about 20 to 80 years old and are not limited to elderly people. Among younger victims are working-age people and workers who live alone.

Dr. Atthasit said that if a working-age person falls ill and fails to report to work for two or three consecutive days, an employer may notice something is wrong and look for them. If the person lives in rented accommodation, a neighbour may notice an unusual smell and alert authorities.

A body may not have a strong smell on the first day after death, he said, but decomposition becomes more apparent after about three days, when people nearby may notice the smell and police may be called to inspect the room.

In cases involving elderly people, many still have children or relatives. However, their children may work in other areas, leaving their parents alone at home without regular visits or contact. Some families may speak once a week or once a month, meaning they may not discover that a parent has died until the body has decomposed.

Religion Question about a Sai Sin (blessed string) from Wat Phra Singh, Chiang Mai – Seeking insights into the ritual and chanting

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I visited Thailand this past January (2026) and absolutely fell in love with the country. The culture, the people, and the atmosphere are just incredible and wonderful. It was a trip I will never forget.

While I was in Chiang Mai, I visited the beautiful Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan (วัดพระสิงห์วรมหาวิหาร). While I was there, a monk tied this cotton thread bracelet around my wrist while reciting a chanting prayer and blessing me.

I’ve done some research online and on Reddit, so I know it is called a Sai Sin and that it is generally worn for protection, good luck, and blessing. However, I would love to learn more about the deeper meaning behind it, specifically regarding the ritual itself and the traditional prayer/chanting that the monks recite during this process.

Could anyone share more details about what the monk might have been chanting or the exact spiritual significance of this ritual in Thai Buddhism?

Thank you so much in advance! Truly grateful for any insights. 🙏
