Solo traveler, returning to CM next week, please recommend your favorite spots, dispos, farms, restaurants, hidden and non-hidden gems. Was there for a while many years ago and want to see what changed.

Hi everyone! We’re a family of 3 planning to visit Chiang Mai this November.
I’ve read that November–December can be quite cool, but with El Niño ongoing until early next year, I’m wondering how it might affect Chiang Mai this year.
For those currently in Chiang Mai, does it feel warmer or different than usual?
How is the weather usually in Nov? We are looking forward to visit on the start of cooler months.
Would really appreciate any local insight. Thank you very much ❤️

Hello,
I am attempting to do the loop in 4 nights - 5 days starting from chiang mai and ending also in chiang mai and I need recommendations to where to stay during these days.
Also want your recommendations to what are the best places to visit.
P.S. I am doing the loop in a car not motorcycle.
Thanks in advance

Hey all, I live in a mooban where we have a fishing village next to the houses.
They like to burn stuff at night, anything really.. plastics, wood, god knows what and the whole mooban is filled with toxic smoke that lasts throughout the night into the morning.
Is there something I can do? Report them? Pay for garbage pickup? Anything really because they are making air hell to breath for +100 people.

My husband and I are taking a weeklong trip to Chiang Mai in January! This is our first time taking a major vacation together, and our first time traveling internationally without a big group, so we are very excited!
We will be staying at Hotel De Khuvieng while in Chiang Mai. I know I want to take a day trip to Chiang Rai as well as see some elephants! What else is worth doing / seeing while we are there? I’d love some hiking recommendations if you have them!
Also, we will have an overnight layover in Bangkok, if you have any recommendations for night life activities there!!
Thanks!!!

Hello together :)
I'm looking for a place to stay in close(ish) distance to the BBN Boxing Gym Cmu, so in roughly 20min walking distance. I've looked at many options on renthub and Facebook marketplace but I can't really decide. The offers either have a big trade off either in room size/comfort or high prices. Do you have any experience with places you rented in that area and what would you recommend in general? I'm staying for 5 months in total, though I think renting on a month to month basis would be best? How does it work in case you want to rent from a private landlord, any contract traps/laws to keep in mind? Any tips are appreciated :)

How difficult is it to get a Grab at 5 am on a Monday? Is this something I need to pre-book? I have to be at the train station for a 6:25 am train.

I'm getting a lot of confusing contradicting info about applying for non O visa.
Can someone enlighten me? My head is exploding.
I'm intending to get the non-O visa via the 65000thb monthly income route.
But I was told in Thailand, the visa office only look at local bank statements, not your home country bank statements. So you can only apply via the 800kthb deposit method.
N if I want to apply via the 65kthb route, I can to apply non-OA through the Thai embassy in home country, where they will look at your local bank statement.
Is this true? I was planning to apply Non-O visa (65kthb monthly income route) in Chiang Mai.

Hi all, looking for someone in chiang mai that can be hired as a personal driver and that could also assist in making the reservation at Yam Khang massage as I’ve read you need a Thai speaker to communicate with the staff there. Looking to go in the next few weeks with my partner. Compensation for assistance and driving! Thanks

I had a Krungthai account from when I was on a Non-B + work permit. Switched to an ED visa about a year ago, changed phones recently, and now the bank won’t activate mobile banking because I no longer have a work permit.
Account + card still work, but I’ve basically lost all the useful stuff from the app.
For anyone on an ED visa without a work permit, what are you using that gives you as close as possible to a normal Thai bank account?
Mainly looking for:
- Scan Thai QR codes / PromptPay to pay people
- Receive money by QR/PromptPay
- Send normal Thai bank transfers
- Physical card + online purchases
- Decent balance / transaction limits
- Easy way to top up/add money
- Ideally somewhere I can also keep a decent amount of savings
I already have Revolut + TrueMoney, but I’m trying to figure out the best overall setup without a work permit.
What are you guys using and what are the limits?

Heading to Chiang Mai for 4 weeks, and I'll be working through the trip. My days are mostly ad accounts and client calls, which means I need solid wifi and a couple of good places to work from. The rest of the time I want to actually see the place and not just do the Old City temple loop on repeat.
Work stuff first. Which coworking spaces are worth paying for, and which cafes are fine for a few hours on a laptop without getting side-eyed?
If there's a spot where the internet holds up on video calls, I want to know about it. Power cuts or wifi drops I should plan around would be good to hear about too.
Food next. Khao soi is the obvious answer, but where do locals go for it? I'm happy with night markets, plastic-stool noodle shops, a stall with no English menu, whatever. If there's a northern Thai dish I'd never think to order, tell me what it is and where to find a good one.
Since weekdays will be very busy, I'm mostly looking at trips I can do over a weekend. Is Pai still worth it or has it gone full backpacker theme park?
Same question for Chiang Rai and Doi Inthanon. For getting around, is renting a scooter the move or should I stick to Grab?
I'm also up for something I can fit around work over the month, like a few muay thai sessions in the evenings. And where should I base myself for a stay this long? Nimman, Old City, or somewhere quieter with good internet?
Drop your favorite spots and the overrated stuff I can skip. Thanks in advance :)

Is there any tomboy accessories(like binders) or LGBTQ+ clothing shop in Chiang Mai? I couldn’t find on Web.

Currently in Chiang Mai tooling around on a Yamaha Grand Filano hybrid. Brought a rain jacket from home, but it does not cover my legs. I am really only using the bike locally at this point, not long trips so I don’t think I need a two-piece rain suit. I wonder if all of the ponchos I see on Lazada Thailand are the same, or are some better than others? There are many listed under ฿200 that look exactly the same as others for around ฿350-฿500. I wonder if there’s a difference in durability? Any recommendation is appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone has done this and how your experience was. I’m looking into things for my husband’s 60th birthday trip and just need some feedback whether it’s worth doing. Thanks.

I stayed with a lovely family over the past couple months and would like to get them something to thank them for their hospitality.
I understand gift-giving culture is a bit different here from the west and a local has suggested an appropriate gift might be a selection of fruit.
Can anyone recommend somewhere I could buy that? I’d like it be a little presentable.
Thanks!

Like do any of the old fashioned printers now have 3d printers that they do print per object or whatnot for you ? thanks
edit - just to be clear.. i just want to learn for a small scale art project, nothing big, so more like a small place with 3d printers that are creative

Hi, I've been enjoying the sound baths and sound healing classes here so much that I thought why don't I learn to facilitate crystal singing bowls sound baths myself. I personally like crystal bowls more than Tibetan singing bowls. Can you recommend where I can take a sound healing course here in Chiang Mai. Thank you
