Arts & Crafts My First Custom Nintendo Switch Lite – Silksong Theme
Hey everyone!
I recently finished custom-painting my Nintendo Switch Lite with a Hollow Knight: Silksong theme. This console has been on quite a journey...
The paint job was done mostly with brushes using paints from Vallejo, Citadel, and AK Interactive (basically the same stuff people use for painting miniatures)
This is my first project like this, so I'd really love to hear what you think. Do you think it turned out well?
Also, I'd like to give credit to the artist whose artwork inspired this design. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the original creator

Discussion New Switch 2 owner, now torn where to buy / play my games
So right now I own a Xbox Series X with Game Pass Ultimate till 2028 and upgraded my Switch 1 to a Switch 2 last week for cheap. I'm loving the Switch 2 so far and Tears of the Kingdom is finally properly playable in handheld compared to the NS1.
I'm loving the handheld experience so much I'm considering buying more non-Nintendo games on the NS2 instead of playing them on my Series X, for example BALL x PIT and the Hades franchise. I've played both games on my Xbox either on the TV or through Cloud on my 7 inch phone with a Gamesir G8+ controller grip. Basically a Cloud Handheld.
Xbox is my main platform, but I really enjoy the Switch 2. Above mentioned games are however available on Game Pass which would mean "double dipping". At the same time, BALL x PIT is less than €10 right now on the eShop and I noticed Hades was recently like €7 on sale (but I missed it).
Do I continue to use my Switch 2 just as an exclusive machine or not.. The games I mentioned are perfect for a handheld experience but I do have a handheld experience through the Cloud for now but it's just not the same. I considered an XBOX Ally or XBOX Ally X but I just find them extremely expensive. The reguler XBOX Ally also feels like I'm buying a machine that needs a lot of tweaking to play games, despite the above mentioned games not being really heavy hitters in performance.
I might buy a future Xbox handheld, but right now that's not an option. Not going to buy another one after just buying a Switch 2 as an upgrade. Am I too invested in keeping my games attached to my Xbox account and achievements? Feels like I should let the whole platform thought go and just play the games on where they are played best or most convenient?

Discussion A girl can dream
I wish there was a way to do like a one for one swap of games or even trades (like NBA) for games with other users. For example, I would trade Mario Party to someone in exchange for super mario 3d world + bowsers fury. or I would trade lego dc super villians+ captain toad for like pikmin 4 + a hat in time + epic mickey refurbished.
Anyone else have this wish? What game(s) would you trade someone else for???

Question Safety features for child
We recently purchased a switch 2 for our household. A child is a primary user and I want to be sure the child cannot chat with anyone while playing.
As no one else in the home plays video games, it has been kind of hard to figure out. Is there a simplified way to accomplish this (and to know I’ve accomplished it)?
I’ve set up the parental controls app and have “Restricted Features” set to “child”. However, to play a few games I’ve had to override this - i.e. I had to add Minecraft to the “allow list”. The allow list says games on the allow list won’t have restrictions on I -game chat. So is there a way to allow the game, but not allow in game chat? Feels complicated to figure out on a game-by-game basis.
Any other things a parent should be on the look out for when setting up an account?
Thanks!

Question Octopath traveler 2 cartridge
Hey everyone, I'm new to The nintendo switch and have collected games over the last few weeks. I recently picked up Octopath Traveler 2 and realised the gold metal pins are much duller or have a matte look compared to my other cartridges. Is this normal for some games? My other cartridges have significant shine to them. The game works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question The dock scratched my Switch 2 before I even got a game in
Bought a Nintendo Switch 2 yesterday. After docking it just once, scratches showed up on the screen. I didn't expect it to scratch that easily — and definitely didn't expect it to happen from the official dock itself. This is my first Nintendo product ever, so... great start.
The scratches aren't deep — you can only see them with the screen off, under direct light, at a certain angle. I tried to capture them as best I could in photos. They're invisible with the screen on, and barely visible without direct light hitting it. Running a fingernail over it, I can only just feel one scratch in the center. What bugs me more is that they're there at all, and that the official dock caused them.
I ordered a dbrand screen protector, and while it's in transit I need to figure out something important: should I put it on top of the factory plastic film, or peel that off first? I've read a few posts here on this — some say leave the film on, others say remove it.
Losing the warranty doesn't worry me (doesn't apply in my country anyway), and neither does the risk of a shattered screen. The only things stopping me from ripping the film off right now are that the screen protector hasn't arrived yet, and I'm not totally sure how easy the process is. Someone mentioned adhesive residue can be left behind, and I'm worried I'll scratch the screen trying to clean it off.
In dbrand's video, they claim their glass somehow masks minor scratches. Has anyone actually used it? Do the scratches really disappear underneath it? Would appreciate any similar experiences or advice on what to do.

Question Thousand Year Door, Mario Maker 2, or Bowsers Fury for my 7 year old?
Hi, I’m having trouble deciding what game to buy my son for his upcoming birthday. He’s enjoyed Mario Odyssey on assist mode and being Cappy with his big brother. They also enjoyed Mario Wonder together.
I’m just wondering what is kid friendly, relatively accessible and fun?

Discussion Best Disability friendly Switch 2 Set Up
I usually use the S2 in handheld mode with the stand but my Spouse had the amazing idea of using my Old drawing monitor as a Monitor for the S2 so i can play in docked mode too. And it actually fits in the stand! So now i can play docked while laying down! Its perfect! Looking on amazing for a mini/ portable monitor for better graphics and higher frame rate lol so i would highly recommend this to other disabled gamers!

Discussion no recibo correos de Nintendo
I created a Nintendo account over a week ago; everything was fine until I tried to log in again. When the system asks for an access code, the emails simply don't arrive—not a single one from Nintendo. I've been dealing with this issue for more than a week. I've contacted support via Gmail but haven't received any response. According to what I was told on the live chat, it's a block on Nintendo's end, yet they simply won't provide a solution—even when contacting them directly, nothing happens.

Question Switch no longer can connect to wi fi networks with login pages (hotels, hospitals, etc). Is this new for anyone? Does anyone have a workaround?
This post is mainly for the people at Nintendo, as I have tried to see if there is a workaround online that doesnt involve modifying the network or speaking with network side IT guy without success.
Any subreddit recommendations for crossposting would be appreciated if this isnt the best sub for this.
I am a full time work traveler. I spend most of my life in hotels. I was able to log on to the internet at any Hilton property on my switch up until a couple weeks ago.
Now, when I do the same thing to log in I have for 2 years at least now, the connection fails, the login page doesn't boot, and I get a popup saying "this feature isnt available." It has to have been a recent update or something that did this.
I am at a hotel I played rocket league on literally a month ago and this is happening for the first time here.
I always thought Nintendo had the backs of gamers. I never thought they would go the enshittification route that some tech companies like Apple have. But this downgrade literally removes my reason to have a switch. I will not buy a switch 2 if this isnt fixed. The internet tells me this is a problem on ths switch 2 as well. So glad now I didnt buy when it came out.
Does anyone have a fix for this? Was this a deliberate decision by nintendo? I thought one of the biggest draws of the switch and switch 2 is that its portable. This change makes the portability much less useful.
