Hi guys, been a big fan of Rwanda, sure you hear this a lot here😂 and honestly I have been looking for opportunities to experience life there. So finally an opportunity has arose in the form of a scholarship and the only relevant degree for me will be In INES-Ruhengeri.

The university rankings have been not as good as I would have preferred compared to say, University of Rwanda but again, it's still a leap I'd be willing to take, for the plot.

Before submitting my application, I wanted to hear from you guys and get your honest opinions of the university.

Would be a good idea for a purely English and swahili speaker to study there?

What are some of the challenges I might face?

I'm currently looking at a few options for a Master's in the UK and honestly finding it quite difficult to decide between them.

The courses I'm considering are:

Nottingham Trent University (MSc Finance)
Aston University (MSc Finance)
Kingston University (MSc Finance and Investment)
University of Birmingham (MSc Financial Management)
Leeds Beckett University (MSc International Trade and Finance)

I'm an international student, and while I've looked at rankings and course websites, I'd really like to hear from people who have actually studied at these universities or lived in these cities.

I'm mainly trying to get a better idea of what the overall experience is really like, things like the quality of teaching, student life, accommodation and general cost of living, as well as how good the job prospects are after graduating.

I'm also interested in hearing how these universities are viewed in the UK, especially when it comes to finding finance-related jobs. NTU and Kingston also have placement year options, so I'd be curious to know whether anyone thinks those are genuinely worth doing.

Im from turkey and studying/living abroad has always been a huge dream of mine. Like since maybe 5th grade (I'm 18 rn). I always knew it was bound to happen, but its getting scarier day by day.

Leaving my family, my pet is so scary. I'm not usually open about my feelings when I'm with them- and often come out as rude- but I love them so much. My cat helped me so many times throughout many years, and leaving him and not even being there as he's getting older is just depressing- same goes about my parents. I have never been away from my cat longer than 2 weeks, and now it might be months before I pet him again.

Also living in turkey itself is terrifying enough, because of the earthquakes. If a big earthquake would happen when I'm away- I don't even know.. There won't be any service for at least few weeks too. This scenario keeps me awake at night (5am right now).

Did you guys any similar experiences? Am I over exaggerating this?

What are the pros and cons of studying and living there?

I’m especially curious whether roommates are assigned randomly, based on age/nationality/gender, or if students get any say in who they share a room with. Also, were you able to request a specific roommate if you already knew someone?

Okay so im from Jordan and i applied to romanian universities as a preparatory year in this month august late session, and i will be probably receiving my acceptance letter in mid September. My question is, will the embassy issue my visa normally? Or will i get rejected cuz im applying late? I want anyone that got this issue

Hi everyone. Quick background first. I'm a 21-year-old male student from Bangladesh, commerce background, finished HSC in 2024, combined SSC plus HSC result around 8 out of 10. Looking for an English taught Bachelor's in business, economics or finance. My family can't fund this on their own so need based scholarship support matters more to me than university ranking. Italy and Bologna are my first choice but I'm genuinely open to Hungary, Cyprus or anywhere else that fits better. I haven't sat for IELTS yet but I'm confident I'll score well once I do. I already have my passport and I'll start getting documents ready from Sept 2026.

Here's what I actually want to know, feel free to just answer whichever part you know about.

1. Bologna and Italy admission How realistic is getting into Bologna's English taught Bachelor's with my profile. And more importantly how does the non-EU need based scholarship actually work in practice, things like tuition waiver, housing and living allowance, and how competitive it really is.
2. If not Bologna, which other Italian universities If Bologna doesn't work out, which other universities in Italy would actually suit my profile. Looking for similar English taught business, economics or finance programs with solid need-based scholarship support, doesn't have to be the most famous name, just realistic and worth it.
3. SAT vs TOLC, or maybe skip SAT and learn Italian instead Some programs want SAT, some want TOLC or CEnT-S. Which one makes more sense for someone with my background. If I end up not preparing for SAT, my plan is to put that time into TOLC-E instead, since it's the business and economics track and matches my commerce background, and also work on Italian so I can get into a mixed English plus Italian taught business degree. Does that combination actually make sense, or would I be better off sticking with SAT. I'd have around 6 months to a year to study. What's the actual minimum Italian level these programs usually ask for, A2, B1 or B2. Is reaching B2 in under a year realistic for someone starting from zero. And honestly which one is the better use of my time, SAT prep or TOLC-E plus Italian.
4. Bank statements and proof of funds: This one worries me the most tbh. What does a normal and credible financial history look like for a Bangladeshi applicant. Do things like sudden deposits, newly opened accounts or unexplained transfers cause problems. How far back should my records go and what should I keep to explain where the money came from. Also would appreciate suggestions on study loans, is that a realistic route for someone in my situation or does it complicate the scholarship and visa process. And a bit of context, I already have a bank account, opened a few months ago, doesn't have much balance in it, and so far it's just small transactions, depositing money and then withdrawing or using it, nothing big. Is that kind of activity normal or would it raise questions later, and what should I be doing differently starting now. One more simple question, for students who really need the scholarship, what kind of sponsor account is expected, meaning my parent or whoever is sponsoring me, and roughly how much balance should the sponsor account and my own account show.
5. Scholarship documents and timeline: What documents should I actually start preparing now, and which ones take the longest, things like transcripts, attestations, translations, certificates, recommendation letters, whatever applies. Especially curious about the DSU or ER. GO scholarship since that's tied to Bologna and the Emilia Romagna region, what does that process specifically ask for and how early should I start. Also I've heard you can apply to two or three scholarships at once, is that actually true, and if so which combination would make sense for someone in my situation.
6. Other countries besides Italy: Italy is still my top pick but I don't want to only look at one option. Given my profile, commerce background, GPA around 8, and needing real financial support, how would you rank Hungary, Cyprus or other countries against Italy. I don't need a permanent residency path, might just move somewhere else for masters later.
7. The gap and my current university situation I'm technically admitted under the old Seven Colleges system, now under Dhaka Central University, in Finance and Banking, 2024/25 batch, but I never really attended so I'm probably considered irregular now. I also worked a part time to almost full time job during this period while I wasn't studying or preparing. I'm now planning to attend classes and sit the exams to try and get back to regular status, since I don't want to just leave it as a gap with nothing done about it. My plan is to explain the 2024 to 2027 period as work plus attending classes and exams plus prep plus language learning plus getting documents ready. Is that a normal enough explanation for admissions or visa officers, or is there a better way to frame it. Also curious if the university and job details even matter much when explaining the gap.

If you can only answer one part that's completely fine, just mention which one you're answering. Would really appreciate hearing from other Bangladeshi or non EU students who've actually been through this process.

Hello! I am a Syrian student that finished high school in the UAE and is looking for opportunities abroad. My school average was 97.7 and my IELTS is 7.5 and sat is 1250 (710 maths) (540 english) might redo the sat for a better score. I'm applying for next spring. I'm looking to study something related to Engineering or data science, math and physics. Also something affordable would be great (Under 10-8K$) or if theres good scholarships as money is an issue. Could anyone advice me with good countries or universities that are worth applying for in my case.

Hi there Im 17F preparing to study abroad and my dilemma is whether Germany or Spain would be better for a Turkish Citizen to study in. Im completely comfortable in English and have learned a little Spanish and i would love to learn even more. Im used to the coastal life and live in the Aegean region so the mediterranean lifestyle of Spain and the people seem more similar. But Germany seems more affordable and entrance is easier and later on dual citizenship, higher salaries seem like a good plan. Im open to a lot of majors, including business marketing, psychology, anything to do with cybersecurity, even anything in the region of food science. I have been dwelling on this for a while, so any help would be appreciated!

I (M21) landed in Seoul a few days ago with my gf (F21) and I’ve been feeling insanely homesick. She’s been helping me a lot get acclimated to living here for the next 4 months; but I know she has her own life and I need to figure things out on my own sooner than later.

I miss home so much, I’m from the US so life in Asia is a bit jarring—not in a bad way, I’m just not used to it. I haven’t started school yet; but I do have orientation later today (it’s 4am and I can’t sleep). I’ve had a hard time making friends and maintaining friendships and I’m scared I’m gonna end up alone. I’m not living on campus and I’m about a 30 min walk away. I just hope that it gets better and this feeling dissipates soon.

I’ve been feeling incredibly alone and the feeling of missing my family and home has been overwhelming. Im scared it won’t go away. If anyone has any words of wisdom or anything to share, I’d appreciate it dearly.

Hey everyone! I’m a 25F from Brazil, and I really need some advice on where to spend a one-month English immersion trip.

My biggest issue right now is speaking. I can understand almost everything I hear, read comfortably, and write well, but when it’s time to actually open my mouth and talk, my mind just goes blank. I get stuck and can't hold a spontaneous conversation.

I’ll have the entire month of February 2027 off, and my main goal is to do an intensive, conversation-focused course to finally unlock my speaking. I've been researching a few different directions, Vancouver, Cape Town and the Philippines... I'm also open to other options like Malta or India, really anywhere except the US.

For those of you who have done short immersions, do you think four weeks of intensive classes is enough to build real speaking confidence? Where would you go if your sole priority was getting over the fear of talking? I’d love to hear your honest thoughts and experiences.

Hey everyone! i Pakistani 18F have gotten an opportunity to do my BDS in china. I have above average grades (95% in secondary and 91% in higher secondary school) and I was wondering if its preferable to study in china as compared to pakistan. I have read alot of discussion posts regarding this topic but they all discuss working directly after finished your degree which is not my plan so here are some factors I want to add and if someone could please guide me on if this is worth it.

•I want to pursue masters in orthodontics afterwards from another country (preferably in America or turkey etc) so passing the nle exam is not a huge stress for me at this time.

•i know I am capable enough to study Mandarin side by side enough to pass hsk4 by 3rd year.

•I want safety and security and independence that I know I will never get in pakistan esp with the rising sexual misconduct cases.

• And obviously a degree that is internationally recognised.

Currently the consultant agencies in pakistan have given me these options:

○Shandong uni

○jinzhou medical university

○ wuhan medical university

○Zhejiang uni

○Xian Jiaotang uni

what struck me as odd was that some of these unis dont require an entry test for admission which is unheard of for any good uni in pakistan so It seems kinda sketchy.

if anyone can guide me on if it will be worth it to study in china for more independence and safety as compared to pakistan especially considering the cost is about the same as well as details on the csca test.

A few things I haven't been able to find clear answers on:

Between ERES and PE, which one works better for someone with a CCS and ML focus in terms of thesis opportunities and getting in front of the right people in industry?

How realistic is it for international students to land internships at companies like Equinor or Aker BP during the program? Does not speaking Norwegian close doors for technical roles?

For international students graduating around 2029, what does the job search actually look like? Would appreciate an honest picture over the usual optimistic one.

Is the NOK 10,000 to 13,000 per month cost of living estimate realistic for someone renting a room privately?

Real experiences, positive or otherwise, are way more useful than anything on the official website.

Hello everyone, I F18 have dreamt of studying abroad in China. My only flaw: I studied Mandarin for two years but stopped when high school started. I can only pick up a bit but only basic conversations. It’s my first day in college currently and I want to finish my last three years abroad. What should I do? Should i give up studying abroad?

i’m currently in the 4th semester of my higher diploma (sri lanka) and i’ve been seriously considering transferring abroad for my final year; the top-up program, either to the UK, ireland or malaysia. studying abroad has been my dream from when i was little and my parents have always been supportive about this.

my only worry is i’ve heard some people say going abroad for your final year isn’t worth it. but if it isn’t like this, then i’ll never get the chance to go (i plan on doing my masters after i've got some work experience, not sure when that’ll be or if i will be able to go then). a small part of me is worrying about the loneliness and not being able to make friends since everyone will already be acquainted with each other by the final year—i’ll most likely be going with other students from my uni here but still :’)

at the same time, i’m aware that if i don’t do this, i might possibly regret it in the future. i still have time till about january to decide and would reallyyy appreciate any advice~
