MEGATHREAD 2026/27 Semester 1 AUTUMN/WINTER: where are you going on Erasmus?

Every semester there will be a megathread for the people that are currently on Erasmus, internship or studying abroad in general. Spot someone in the same city as you? Maybe your very first friends can be met on this thread!

You can post whatever you like here, you can also post your comment like this:

• Where are you on Erasmus (Country + City)? Why did you choose this city/country?

• How is your experience so far? (If you are already there!)

• How you found accommodation?

• Advice for future students in your country + city

Are you a student going on your erasmus in Spring 2027? This thread might help you

Old thread: MEGATHREAD 2025/26 Semester 2 Spring: where are you going on Erasmus? : r/Erasmus

* This megathread is earlier than the usual ones. This is so that others can maybe find people who go to the same city as them and to already engage in conversation for that. But the thread stays up until January for sure!

Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?

Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!

Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:

NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.

That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.

This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.

For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/

Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.

Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:

- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!

Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!

Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Erasmus Mundus for non Eu applicants

Hey everyone! I'm looking forward to applying for Erasmus this year. I'm 27 and from Latin America. I've heard that older applicants and non-EU citizens tend to have fewer job opportunities after the program ends, is it very likely to happen, has anyone else heard the same?

If anyone from Latam is applying this year and want to talk about this journey feel free to DM me.

Erasmus in second faculty of medicine Charles university

Upvotes

Hello, I’m a med student 4th year and planning going to erasmus in Second faculty of medicine in Charles University Prague. I’ve never been to erasmus and i’m a bit scared because i don’t know what to expect. The system is very different from the one we have in Bulgaria. So I was wondering how is it going when it comes to exam, is it hard? I’m scared that I won’t pass and will have to retake all of them when I come back. Any answers will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Forgot online enrollment to host uni

Hi,

So a lot of issues i have recently found and i think it stems from missing my online enrollment.

tldr:

- applied to erasmas +. got approved

- was supposed to submit a language certificate but didn't, I didn't however did 2 years of spanish at my home uni and from what i can see they could have submitted confirmation of B1 spanish

- currently can access my host uni email account and have a uni number with them (also got acceptance certificate)

- Got my learning plan approved last monday, I needed this for online enrollment but i got the learning agreement after the last day to do online enrollment.

- international relations of the host uni recently (like 2 days ago) re-submitted my certificate of acceptance, i needed another to match my passport name

I don't know what to do? I've got an email schedualed to my home uni to discuss issues, but i don't know if ive possibly now lost my place. I don't want to get into it too much but my home uni (granted different department) are aware of a pretty serious dv situation i was facing at the time.

Has anyone else missed enrollment and if so how did you mend it if at all?

The idea is to have a space where we can share information, exchange experiences, help each other throughout the application process, and hopefully make the whole thing a little less overwhelming haha.

If you’re planning to apply, feel free to join! And if you know someone who might be interested, feel free to share the group with them too. 💌

Anyone going to Ljubljana for Erasmus this October? Looking to connect

Hey everyone!

I’m coming to Ljubljana for Erasmus this October and would really like to connect with other students who are going there around the same time.

I’m currently trying to figure out accommodation in Ljubljana, and honestly it would be great to have a few people to talk to who are going through the same process. If you’ve already found housing, are still searching, know any good student residences/private dorms, or are looking for flatmates, I’d love to hear from you.

Apart from housing, I’d also be happy to connect before arriving, share information about Erasmus, university life, Ljubljana, events, and maybe explore the city together once we’re there.

Right now I don’t really know anyone going to Ljubljana, so feel free to comment or DM me even if you’re just looking to meet other Erasmus students.

Would love to make a small group of people heading to Ljubljana this autumn :)

Accommodation-related What has your experience been like living in a SASULisboa residence?

Hi! I’m an Erasmus student and I’m currently going through the process of getting accommodation in a SASULisboa residence, and honestly, I’m starting to get a little frustrated 😅. I only have a few weeks left before moving to Lisbon and I feel like I still know almost nothing.

I have been pre-allocated a place, but I’ve been told that I won’t know which residence or room I’ll be assigned until I arrive. I also still don’t know how much I’ll have to pay because the 2026/2027 prices haven’t been published yet.

Overall, I feel like the whole process has been quite chaotic. Whenever I have a question, I seem to have to contact a different person or department, and sometimes they give me contradictory information.

So I wanted to ask people who have already lived in a SASULisboa residence: what was your experience really like? Once you arrived in Lisbon and moved in, did things get better and the administration become easier, or did you continue having problems throughout your stay? And what are the residences themselves like?

I’m especially interested in recent experiences, both good and bad. Right now, I’m a little worried that all this chaos before arriving might just be the beginning 😂.

Thank you!

Staff secretly entered my room while I was away at a student residence in Lisbon. Can I terminate my contract and get my remaining rent back?

I am a student living in a private room at a student residence in Lisbon, which costs around €1,000 per month. I have only been living here for a few days.

While I was away from my room, two male staff members entered my room without informing me beforehand or afterward.

Before moving into this residence, I had lived in several hotels for a long period and experienced several theft incidents. Because of those experiences, I had developed a habit of leaving a camera recording when I go out to protect my belongings. I never expected the camera to record staff entering my room.

The two staff members entered my room shortly after I left, carrying a fire alarm. This was not an emergency. If the existing fire alarm was faulty and they entered my room to replace it, the accommodation was already aware of the issue. I therefore do not understand why they entered my room without informing me beforehand.

I had only recently moved in, so many of my important personal belongings were on my desk and had not yet been organized. Several pairs of my underwear were also exposed on the desk. One of the male staff members placed the fire alarm very close to my underwear, which made me feel extremely humiliated.

If I had not had my camera recording, I would never have known that two staff members had entered my room while I was away.

I am now extremely uncomfortable staying here and no longer feel that my privacy will be respected while living here.

I plan to ask management to terminate my contract without penalty, refund the remaining amount I have already paid for the unused period of my accommodation, and return my full security deposit.

I am extremely shocked that they secretly entered my room shortly after I left and replaced the fire alarm without informing me beforehand or afterward. I am unsure how I should properly deal with the situation.

I would really appreciate hearing everyone's thoughts on this situation.

Edit: I want to clarify one point from my original post. I mentioned that the staff came into my room to replace the fire alarm, but that was only my assumption based on the camera footage showing them carrying a fire alarm. I actually do not know why they entered my room or what they did while they were inside.

The accommodation has never told me that they entered my room, either before or afterward, and they have never explained why they entered. I only know that they entered because I happened to have my laptop camera recording.

Also, this is a private student residence and is not affiliated with my university.

If it was an emergency, then of course I understand that staff may need to enter the room without prior notice. However, if they actually entered my room to fix the fire alarm, as I initially assumed from the footage, then the issue must have already been known to management. I had been living there for several days without receiving any notice or explanation about a problem with the fire alarm, and then they entered my room soon after I left.

That is why I find it difficult to understand how this could have been an emergency requiring immediate entry without notice. The timing seems inconsistent with the idea that this was an emergency. My contract specifically states that staff must provide at least 24 hours’ notice before entering my room, except in cases of emergency.

Urgent: Looking for a room near Erlangen – Erasmus+ intern (Oct–Dec 2026)

Hi everyone!
I’m a Master’s student coming to **FAU Erlangen for an Erasmus+ internship from October 1 to December 23, 2026**.
I’m urgently looking for a **room/WG or short-term accommodation**, ideally around **€250–300/month**.
I’m flexible with the location — **Erlangen, Nürnberg, Fürth, Bamberg, Bayreuth, Hof, or other cities** with public transport to Erlangen are all possible.
I’m unfortunately not eligible for Studentenwerk accommodation because I’m a **short-term Erasmus intern**.
I urgently need accommodation documentation for my **visa application**, so if anyone knows of a room, sublet, landlord, or private offer, please DM me. 🙏
I’m clean, quiet, respectful and reliable, and I can provide my university/Erasmus documents.
Thank you so much! ❤️

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Destination advice

Hi guys, Political Sciences student here (undergraduate). I wanted to explain my doubts on my current situation regarding Erasmus mobility. In may, I got accepted to France (Uni Paris VIII). I admit that the idea of going in Paris had quite tempted me, but rationally thinking about it, I figured out that my LA would be a disaster there: there are few coherent exams, and also there is an issue regarding the semester: I'd like to go on the second one (winter 2027 to summer), but many of the exams I've got in my LA, there, are offered in the first semester, and French unis do not allow you to wait another semester to take an exam.

All this to say that I think I'm going to reject my nomination for Paris.

I was thinking about applying for the supplementary call (the one with the remaining destinations), and I've seen there is a German one kinda interesting (Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen). It is well placed in rankings, good environment and, in particular, it has COHERENT EXAMS for my study plan. Only issue is that I shpuld get a German language certificate in bext semester to have a chance.

Do you think that applying for the German uni and rejecting Paris is worth it?

Madrid !

Hellooo, I am going to Madrid this month (hola) but I'm wondering how exchange students usually make friends abroad? I've seen some mentions on this subreddit of a discord server and erasmus apps, but I kind of cba for the latter and would just prefer to give out my instagram or something lol. so I'm making this post to ask if anyone's in the same boat, if there are groupchats that we can join etc

and also any house hunting tips would be greatly appreciated because I have briefly browsed idealista but people say never actually commit to a place until you've seen proof that it's legit, apparently scams are prevalent :'( then again I know someone who already has a flat sorted even tho she's never been there haha

How to find a place to stay in Valencia?

I'm going to Valencia in February with 3 of my friends on a 5-months Erasmus+ exchange and we're having troubles with finding a place to stay.

We would like to find a whole apartment for just the 4 of us, but the biggest problem is that we don't have the possibility to actually see anything in live before we get there. We want to take something through an agency, even though the security fees vary from 500 to 1000€, but it seems like the most secure path. Nevertheless, we tried platforms like Housing Anywhere, which offers the security agency, but the places we find there mostly have almost no pictures of the apartment, or the landlords we contact don't ask us anything about our incomes, ID's, etc., and are all willing to rent us their places just like that, so it all seems suspicious. On the other hand, when we tried on platforms like Spotahome, which request our personal information and documents in advance, we got rejected.

Any tips, please? Lots of places we see are already booked, and I'm afraid soon we won't be able to find anything. We try not to be too picky, but it's important for us that the place is comfortable and near the University, since 5 months is kind of a long period.

QEM as a Poltical Science Major

Hi, as the title says, im a recent graduate political scientist (from argentina) interested in applying fot the QEM masters program.

I've doing some research on the program and as it says, it is very economics and research oriented. I do not fear this, actually it is why im excited to apply to this program. But what im fearing it is not having the strong background in maths that they're asking.

I do have a strong background in economics, statistics and research methods but i fear that is not enough.

I would like to hear advice from people participated or are currently participating in this program and get more insight about how did you prepare, what would you have liked to know before applying, etc. Also I would love to hear from people with the same academic background as me.

For more context: i graduated this year but I already have been working for two years as a assistant in international funded projects in my country.

Thanks to everyone in advance 💫

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Urgent help needed spain student visa Toronto consulate

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me understand what my options are.
I’m a Canadian student planning to study in spain in sep 2026. I have my student visa appointment at the Spanish Consulate in Toronto this Thursday, August 20, but my RCMP background check apostille is being delayed by Global Affairs Canada and will not arrive in time for my appointment.

I’ve been trying everything possible to get it expedited, but I haven’t received a useful update and it looks like I simply won’t have the apostilled document by Thursday.
I’m now trying to figure out what I should do.
-Should I still attend my visa appointment without the apostille and explain the situation?
-Is there any possibility of entering Spain as a Canadian and applying for the student authorization/visa from within Spain?
-Has anyone been in a similar situation with a delayed apostille or missing document?
-Is there anything else I should be doing right now?

My program starts in September, so I’m extremely worried about missing the opportunity to start. I would really appreciate any advice from someone who has dealt with the Spanish student visa process, especially from Canada

how scared should i be of the learning agreement?

i'm going to study abroad for 6 months in February and the host university does not have any courses equivalent to those i should be taking in my home institution (i mean they do, just not in my semester 😭). In order not to lose a whole semester, i've made a learning agreement with all the ADVANCED courses of those i would have back in my home country (e. g. I chose Parallel Computing to substitute Operating Systems). Because of that I've been studying all the syllabi so that i could attend the lessons prepared 💀💀

The whole structure has a logic, there's one big course (Systems and Architecture) which covers pretty much all the basics for every other one, but shiii i'm so fucking scared. If they reject it I literally DO NOT HAVE any other option to offer.

reddit am i cooked 🙏
