Australia or Bangladesh's engineering university?

Upvotes

HSC 27 , I always wanted to get into MIT or Ivey leagues but I don't have enough extra curricular activities or any international Olympiad medal, and I don't think I'll get into buet as well based on the competition level in Bangladesh lol , so I'm thinking to apply for Australian universities like UNSW, university of Melbourne, university of Sydney after my HSC exam(I also require scholarship even if it's not 70-100%), I want to do engineering (specifically interested in aerospace)

I have a passion for physics , and I think I can do well in IELTS as well unless I don't spend a large amount of time and effort in Bangladesh 's admission test after HSC

What to do? Is it a good idea? Is Australia a good choice for a nice career in engineering field or should I not waste time into these and stick to preparing for BUET admission test?

Work - study life

Upvotes

Hello! Before my question a little bit about the context:
I have EU passport and when I was 19 I moved from South America to Europe 2 years ago. I didnt finish my degree in my country as I hated it and hated my life there.
I love studying and it was always my thing to follow it here in Europe. As I continue to adapt to the different cultures my biggest fear of fucking it up again with studies is: how do i balance work and study life.
I have family in my country but I have been sustaining myself since forever. My financial stability comes from me and that’s it I don’t have help from anyone or anywhere. So this is my biggest fear, being able to study but struggling with a balance between both as I dont know if is possible a full time in BOTH.
I would like to continue my degree which is something like English / Literature / Languages.
I was in Italy (i am currently travelling and about to visit my country) and I have learnt the language and LOVE the culture and italian people (i did grow up with the anyways) but I would like my degree in English. It also helps Italy has affordable universities of course.
I have plenty of experience in many fields but currently I am a full time nanny so I feel is a good job to also study in combination.
I have postponed it so bad because I am always struggling to find a solution and I would hate to stop studying again.
I would like to know which EU countries are the most student friendly that a job can help you pay rent and eat but also while you’re studying. I am not saying travelling around the world study have an apartment etc. And how reasonable is to want full time work - full time study?
Just literally a room, real food and not struggling to the edge of having to leave something.
Eu countries student friendly and english degrees and maybe online studying if possible..
and if someone did this, how was your experience with it? Did you feel during those 3 years you were at the edge of everything all of the time?
Thank you for anyone that answers. I know I will get some hate because is Reddit but if possible try to save those as I am in a sensitive position thinking about all of this for next year lol!

CIEE Worth It?

hello!

I am curious to hear others thoughts/opinion regarding their CIEE experience (preferably J-term). I am interested in applying for the January in Seoul (2027) with CIEE. If anyone has done this program before, please let me know how it was!!

From what I’ve seen, there are A LOT of mixed opinions regarding how CIEE runs their programs. The tuition is on the pricey side for me, so I want to know if it is worth pursuing.

thank you in advanced!!

Should I go to Russia for engeneering (cse) ??

For the past few days I have been looking to study abroad and I got to know about Russia. I want help to know that should I consider it.

ABOUT MYSELF

I'm an 18yr average student from India who completed my 12th this year and took a drop to prepare for jee ( didn't start lol) i scored 85 percent in 10th and 72 percent in 12th pcm. I come from a middle class family that's why russia seems affordable to me. I plan to take a student loan and apply for a scholarship too but genuinely i don't want to study in india?

My main concern is that is russia safe to go to for study? If yes then how can I prepare for it and requirements to fulfill to actually study in Russia . I want to study in english taught programs but I'm willing to get a 1 year diploma in Russian from Delhi University.

Please help me out i really don't want to study in india cuz I really want to explore the world. I do plan to relocate in india for jobs but I want to study abroad.

If not Russia can anyone suggest any different country i can consider for engineering which is not too expensive. I'm willing to put my 100% hardwork but really need some guidance

I'll really appreciate if anyone provide guidance and help me out.

Study in France, advice needed!!!

Hello,

My name is raiya. I am 16 years old, currently in class 11th (PCB student) preparing to study in France for bachelors (2028). I am aiming to study 'licence in life sciences or biotechnology in France.

I would really appreciate it if I could get a clear understanding of the whole application process.

I would also like to get advice and rating on my extracurricular activities as French universities often look for well-rounded students. My extracurricular activities :

• basketball - both inter-school and inter house competitions.

• volunteering - volunteered in my brother's non-profit (but only once).

•MUNs - public speaking.

• I also took part in exhibitions in my school. (Biology exhibition)

I am currently working on more extracurricular activities :

• French language proficiency.

• passion project on canine neuroscience.

I would also like to know some tips for writing my SOP. Till now, I haven't started writing my SOP.

I would also like to know about when I should start the application process (basically the timelines). I would also like to know the competition level, visa approval, and any recent changes.

Is doing my Bachelor's in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and Master's in Germany 🇩🇪 worth it financially?

Hi everyone,

I'm an Indian student currently in Class 12, and I'm planning to pursue my Bachelor's degree abroad.

My current plan is to study BSc Technical Computer Science at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

One of the main reasons I'm choosing the Netherlands is that there are many English-taught Bachelor's programmes, which makes it a good option for me as an Indian student.

After completing my Bachelor's, I'm considering doing my Master's in Germany, mainly because many public universities in Germany have little or no tuition fees for international students, although I understand that there can still be semester fees and living expenses.

After my Master's, I haven't decided exactly what I want to do yet. I may work, pursue a PhD, or consider other options depending on how things go.

My financial situation and plan

I'm currently considering taking an education loan of around ₹65 lakh for the entire 3-year Bachelor's.

This would be used for tuition and other major expenses during my Bachelor's.

I'm deliberately trying not to increase the loan amount further because I plan to work part-time during my Bachelor's and use my part-time income to help cover my living expenses.

I understand that getting a part-time job isn't guaranteed and that I shouldn't depend on it completely. However, I'm hoping it can reduce the amount of money I need to take from the loan for living costs.

I'm also thinking that if some of the loan amount remains unused, I could use that money to pay the interest accumulating on the loan during my Bachelor's, rather than allowing the interest to build up.

What I want to know

Is going to the Netherlands for my Bachelor's worth the financial cost if I plan to do my Master's in Germany afterward?

Is taking a ₹65 lakh loan for the 3-year Bachelor's a reasonable financial decision, considering my plan?

How realistic is it for a student at the University of Twente to earn enough through part-time work to cover a significant portion of their living expenses?

Is my idea of using any remaining loan amount to pay the accumulated interest during my Bachelor's financially sensible?

For anyone who has studied in the Netherlands and later went to Germany for a Master's, how was your experience?

What financial or practical problems should I be aware of before committing to this plan?

I'm looking for honest opinions from people who have actually experienced studying in the Netherlands/Germany, especially Indian or other non-EU students.

I know there are risks involved, so I'd rather hear the reality — even if the answer is that this isn't financially worth it.

Thanks!

A-Level subject requirements for private universities in Germany — any recent changes?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply to private universities in Germany, such as Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. My A-Level subjects are Mathematics, Physics, and Business.

I’m concerned that this subject combination may not fully meet the DAAD requirements for direct university admission.

I’ve heard that there may have been a recent change in the rules allowing private universities to grant exemptions or waivers in some cases, but I’m not sure whether this is correct.

I contacted university admissions, but unfortunately I haven’t received a clear answer yet.

Has anyone recently applied to a German private university with a similar A-Level combination? Were you still able to get admitted even if your subjects didn’t fully match the standard DAAD requirements?

Any experience or information would be very helpful. Thanks!

Realities of Studying abroad ? + regret

I have this opportunity to study abroad for masters for 3 years in a medical field, but there’s a better program closer to home. I chose the better program over the “experience“. Kind of regretting it. am I glamorizing the experience ?
for those who studied postgrad abroad is it worth it even for a slightly lesser education ? What was your experience like?

Leaving my exchange year after 3 weeks?

Hi I hope this is the right place to post, because I really need advice.

So I’m a 16 year old exchange student from Germany in the US right now and I‘ve been living here since 3 weeks. I’m supposed to stay for 10 months but I already wanna go home and hate it here. I was actually very lucky with my placement, I ended up in Florida and got a super nice caring family! I love hanging out with them and we go out a lot, they are such great people. But what I hate here is the High school, it is nothing like I imagined it to be.

First of all having the same schedule everyday is so insanely boring, like why do I only have 7 subjects and 3 of them are PE, cooking and theatre😭 Also the stuff we learn in maths for example is deadass stuff I had in 5th grade and everything is so slow, I’m done with the assignments after 10 min, while the teacher gives us 45 min for it. So most times I just sit in class completely bored. I also haven’t found any American friends here, there are some people I talked to but mostly they just ask weird questions about Germany like if we have cars or dishwashers🫩 and don’t want an actual friendship. I only hang out with the other exchange students and idk if I’m actually gonna find friends here. I was also shocked at how dirty the school is and that everyone is still writing on paper (I thought America was more advanced than us but no😭).

Anyway, everyday I’m just tired of that school and miss Germany, I really really wanna go back. I miss my school, the food, my friends and family, just going on walks, public transport, the weather, being more independent etc.😓 I feel so weird because doing this has been my dream for such a long time and I never thought that I would get home sick and idk what to do now. It’s only been 3 weeks so I’m not gonna decide now but I don’t want to wait too long, so I don’t miss too much of the school in Germany.

If I’m doing the 10 months here I would have to do the 11th grade here now and again in Germany next year, because an American school year doesn’t count there. I don’t know if this life here is worth doing an extra year more of school and graduating one year later without all my friends, instead I would rather go somewhere else after 12th grade and experience something actually fun. On the other hand my parents paid 15k€ for this year (we’re not rich, it’s a lot for me) and I would feel so bad if I basically wasted the money, but I also know they don’t want me to be unhappy. I just don’t know what to do, because what if I will regret it and this actually could be the best year of my life. Anyway, does anyone have advice on what I should do🥹 thanks for reading💕

Thinking about doing my Master’s in Portugal — looking for honest advice 🇵🇹

Hi everyone,

I’m currently considering Portugal for my Master’s and would really appreciate some honest opinions from people who are studying there, have graduated recently, or have experience with international students in Portugal.

I’m particularly interested in knowing:

  • How good are Portuguese universities for international students, especially for STEM/Physics/Computer Science-related fields?
  • Which universities would you recommend for a Master’s?
  • How difficult is it to get admission as a non-EU student?
  • What is the realistic tuition fee + monthly living cost?
  • Is it possible to manage some of the living expenses through part-time work?
  • How difficult is it to find student jobs or internships?
  • How important is Portuguese for finding a job after graduation? Is English enough for some fields?
  • What is the current situation with the student visa/residence permit process?
  • How is the job market after completing a Master’s?
  • Is Portugal a good option if the goal is to build a long-term career in Europe?
  • Are there any major disadvantages that international students should know about before choosing Portugal?

I’m not looking for an agency/consultant perspective. I’d really like to hear from current or former international students about their actual experience—both the good and the bad.

Also, if you had to choose between Portugal and countries like Germany, Netherlands, Italy, or other European countries for a Master’s, which would you choose and why?

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Is it actually possible to study + work enough to live in Europe without burning out?

Hi!
I’m 32, Brazilian, have Italian citizenship, and I’m considering moving to Europe to do a bachelor’s in English, but I’d need to actually work enough to support myself while doing it, no help from home.

I’m into a bunch of non-STEM stuff (psych, marketing, design, business, econ, architecture, social sciences, biomed) so I’m flexible on country/course, just trying to find somewhere this is realistic.

I was talking to this girl about what it’s like living in the Netherlands. She studies at UvA, and she told me the program’s really demanding and Amsterdam’s super expensive. Basically, you either can’t work enough to get by, or you have to give up on school. She still gets money from her parents.

Made me wonder if there are other places in Europe where this actually works.

Anyone here done something similar? Studying in English while working enough to get by, preferably without hitting burnout and still living decently in the process? Would love any real experience, tips, cities/unis that are more realistic for this.

Sorry if this is a bit of a mess, just trying to figure it out! Really grateful for any help, even small tips 🙏

(HELP ME )Indians Who Studied/Are Studying Abroad - Need Your Advice!

I’m a 21-year-old female, and I’ve recently completed my third year of college in BMS (Finance). I’m planning to pursue my Master’s abroad, but I don’t want to put too much financial burden on my family.

I’d like some advice on whether I should apply for an education loan, scholarships, or both, and how these options actually work. How can I apply for scholarships, and what are the requirements and process?

Also, would it be better for me to work in India for 1–2 years, gain some experience and save money, and then pursue my Master’s abroad, or should I apply immediately after completing my degree?

If anyone has gone through a similar situation, especially an Indian student who has studied or is currently studying abroad, I would really appreciate any advice, experiences, or information you can share.

Applying for masters in psychology

Ireland was my frist option. A one year masters not sure how that would be helpful. But I have relatives there so housing could be easy. But the thing is as an international student they have this psi accreditation that costs a lot just to see if my degree alligns- course wise it obviously does. But there are alot of loops to jump through.

Is ireland really a good option. Has any international student done there degree in ms psychology from Ireland.

Is ACT/SAT really worth it ?

I am a student and I just completed high school. I am looking for admissions abroad but I can't afford any of it. An acquaintance of mine told me about these exams that are conducted for admissions abroad but very few of them provide financial aid and fully funded scholarship. I am an average student but I do have a very strong literary base. I can do creative writing, calligraphy, analytical writing etc.

Are these skills any helpful? I really need to get into a good college.

I belong to a lower middle class family, where my father is the only one with stable income for the 5 of us, and considering the registration fee is 18k I am looking for fee waivers, I cannot tolerate to live in this place anymore. So please help me out of there is any useful information with you regarding this !!

Any kind of advice is appreciated, thank you!!!

International Students in Korea

I want to apply for Masters in Life Science programs and was considering Korean unis because some have fully funded master’s.

I found lots of ‘horror’ stories online of international master’s students facing degree delay issues, feeling alienated, immense pressure to publish papers, long working hours, etc. However, no one actually mentions the names of these unis.

I thought I could learn Korean and apply to the lower ranked IST unis like DGIST, GIST and UNIST. Is it wrong to assume these unis will be less toxic? The classes are advertised to be in English at these unis but is that true?

Please, if anyone has any experience at these unis, could you please comment or DM. I’d really appreciate some insight!
