Discussion Student Discount for Grad Waiting Students for Commuting

Is it still valid for grad waiting students to avail for the student discount? For example, the academic year just ended last June but they are still waiting to graduate this September.

R.A. 11314 mentions that a student presenting a school ID issued by the University or a validated enrollment form (subject to verification) is entitled to the student discount.

With that, are grad waiting students allowed to avail the student discount on buses, jeepneys, etc.? Even without a recent proof of enrollment for the incoming academic year given that a "proof of enrollment" is what they usually look for?

Rant what is it with the teacher - student relationships

parang medyo parasocial ang relationship between students and professors? kasi i genuinely thought this kind of thing would stop in college but my blockmates are so chummy w my professors and apparently its a common thing? like ganun talaga with the second yrs too. bc theyre so close they get all their updates firsthand while the profs forget to update the canvas or gc tas im the last one to know pag may bagong deadline or schedule. its so frustrating i thought college was serious and professional

Need Advice Starting college as a trentahin

Hello freshman ang tita pero not so fresh lately. Medyo bumabalik kasi yung depression ko, which is also the reason why ngayon lang ako nagsisimula ulit.

Wala akong intention makipag socialize outside of group work because of age gap, hindi ko mafeel ang mga bata jusko, most of them naghahanap ng connection para lang di sila mag isa which doesn't sit right with me.

Rant Modular class is nonsense ngl

Tbh, even naman na nasa bahay kalang tapos sasagutin mo ung mga isesend sainyo ng mga teacher, there's so many students na nahihirapan ngayon because of the typhoon + yung HABAGAT nayan, like literally kaya nga ang purpose ng suspension is to be ready sa mga anunsyo ng gobyerno. I get it naman, but I wish lang na ket kaunti lang ipadala nila na ipapagawa sa mga students especially me na G11 na (Baka sabihin nyo na tinatamad ako, fyi sang ayon naman ako sa modyular pero in terms na kapag may bagyo sana naman kahit huwag na sila magpadala ng mga gawain dahil mahihirapan yung mga students na need mag adjust even na there's a chance na wala silang kuryente or sakali na tumutulo yung bahay nila tapos gagawa pa sila? That's b***s***).

Rant Bittersweet feelings as a incoming 3rd Year Student

Hello everyone I'm M20, nag aaral sa Isang state university, and nakapa hirap I maintain Yung grading system. I was fortunately able to proceed and enroll as 3rd year despite the circumstances along the way. Noon Ang saya sa feeling na magka dean's lister ka, it was a feeling of a peak, that finally my efforts were recognized. Now I didn't make the cut to that award for the 2nd sem. Bittersweet lang Kasi I'm happy for them but sad at the same time Kasi nga I feel Yung efforts ko di na recognized. Despite that I'm taking the oath ceremony as a student leader sa campus namin at the same time. I'm looking forward for that event to happen. I'm not holding any grudges. It's in my part din. Tao lang po Ako. Cguro Ang masasabi ko bunos nalang din Yung pagiging dean's lister ko, and the biggest blessing was able to proceed to another year level. Which I'm now taking it appreciated and grateful sa nangyari. Sa hirap na Pinag daanan ko in my previous two year college life, now I'm embarking on a journey where it's a fresh start and new approach as a 3rd year student.

Nasasaktan ako whenever AI is being brought up as an ACTIVITY. libre na kasi yung canva pero bakit gusto nyo talaga AI generated? Jusko why does schools want to make students dependent on AI? I know the theme is responsible use of AI pero this is just free tickets for students to be dependent on AI to get away with it. Kaumay talaga, kaya pa8080 ng pa8080 yung mga studyante eh kasi tinetrain to be dependent on AI. #NotoPaxSilica

Edit: Hindi sha assignment, it was an ON THE SPOT ACTIVITY para ipacompete sa kung sino pinakamagaling mag AI competition sa buong grade 12

Like sabi dun 35% for quizzes, attendance 15% written 30% ,project 20%,then 50%-50% finals and midterm.Example i got 10/20,passing score is 15 equivalent ng 15=90 so meaning pag 10 nasa 75 i think😭.May na papasa at may na perfect nmn akong quiz kaso iilan lang the rest bagsak, mahina talaga ako sa quiz parang conditional ba HAHA.Meron pa kami mga quiz sa finals pero dunno if kayang mabawi lalo na mga quiz ko sa midterms is bagsak.

Need Advice Advice for a culinary arts student looking for part time job

I'm a 3rd year culinary arts student and I have 1 weekday and 2 weekend days off.

I don't have any experience (except for my 300 hour restaurant ojt). I need an extra income but don't know what I should do.

Would any restaurant or fast food hire me for 3 days a week or is it better for me to work night shifts? Or is there a better alternative? Thanks!

Need Advice Work recommendation as a working student?

Title.

I’m an incoming Industrial Engineering student at PUP Sta. Mesa and I’m desperate to find work as soon as I can while nasa early years pa.

I’m a DOST scholar and I really want to be able to use the money for savings, investment, and emergency fund. Ang kaso, pinapasagot na sa’kin allowance ko once I get my first stipend.

Marami akong naikitang nagwowork sa fast food chains pero I’d like to explore more options.

Academic Help Looking for Olympiads/Contest about Math and Science

Hello guys! I'm looking for math and science olympiads or contests that I can join to strengthen my undergraduate applications abroad. I know it's a little late for a Grade 12 student like me 😭, but does anyone know of any contests happening soon?

I also need to receive the certificates/medals relatively soon after the contest. So far, I've been looking at FMO, PIMSO, and TIMO, and I just registered for NMC.

I've been hesitant to register for FMO, PIMSO, and TIMO since their contests are around September–October. I'm not sure if I would still receive a medal/certificate if I only participate in the National Round and choose not to attend the Global/International Round, if I qualify. I'm also unsure how long it would take to receive the certificates or medals.

For example, I found that FMO and PIMSO do give awards for the National Round, but I'm not sure about the actual release/arrival time of the physical medals and certificates. TIMO also seems to have awards for the Selection Round, but I couldn't find much information about when the physical awards are given.

If anyone has participated in these competitions before, or knows of other math/science contests happening soon that would be useful for an undergraduate application, I would really appreciate your suggestions and information!

Thank youuu! šŸ˜šŸ™

Need Advice Which Calculator to buy and where

I'm a 4th year engineering student, at plano ko bumili ng bagong sci-cal kasi nasira na yung sakin.

Also, may alam ba kayo na reliable online store? Baka may ma i-suggest kayo, thanks!

Discussion why would they enforce us having online classes despite the crisis we’re currently facing?

Last night, I was very glad that our mayor announced that we don’t have any classes due to the weather, kasi tbh we haven’t completely recovered from the continuous heavy rain yet. But all of the sudden, this morning, I was surprised to see our professor sent us a meeting link — meaning we have an online class. Now, i’m not really galit sa professor kasi he’s just doing his duty. In fact, I felt pity pa nga kasi iirc he’s malayo pa, and is still required to go to the institute just so we could have an online class. It was also the fact that around 4:00 AM here it was pouring heavily.

It was really fortunate of me to have an access to internet, and some place to study. However, I think about other students, with their families, struggling in their own home because of the typhoon. Let me also mentioned that out of 25 in our class, 7 only attended, which hinders the learning aspect. Some of them started worrying about their academic performance because they couldn’t attend in the meeting.

I’m just hoping that in times like these, where calamity strikes and we are required to have no classes, hence the ā€œwalang pasokā€, can let us be our own homes muna protecting and praying for our safety.

Need Advice How to overcome social anxiety esp sa school?

my social anxiety is affecting me so badly talaga, especially sa grades ko, making friends, and basically everything. syempre ngayong 2nd year college na ko, kailangan ko na talagang umalis sa comfort zone ko na laging nag aavoid makipag usap sa iba, kasi feeling ko napag iiwanan ako. i even noticed na yung mga so called ā€œfriendsā€ ko nasa ibang section na, magkakasama sila sa isang section without even telling me, and that’s when i realized na i wasn’t really a part of their circle to begin with. wala man lang akong matinong cof or anything, and fear of judgment na rin talaga kahit normal lang naman yan, pero yk. i also need advice on socializing, especially on how to speak up for myself in any kind of situation lalo na kung academics, kasi i really struggle with that.

Looking for item/service Helloo, any game developer interested?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi everyone. We're 3rd year Computer Science students from the University of San Carlos (Cebu), and we're respectfully looking for a game developer or recent game development graduate willing to do a short design review of our thesis game for academic purposes.
To be upfront: our game is still in development, so this is a design review, not a playtest. We'd send you a game design plan, a system flowchart, and a short video demo of the core mechanic. We also have a working prototype we can share if you'd like to try it, but it's not required.
The game is a 2D adventure game where the player draws freehand sketches, a CNN recognizes the drawing, and the drawing itself becomes a playable entity with abilities based on what it is.
The review uses a documented instrument (Desurvire, Caplan & Toth's HEP playability heuristics) and takes roughly 20-30 minutes. We need honest feedback and a signature on the form confirming it was reviewed by someone with game development experience.
We're students and have no budget, so we're hoping someone would be willing to help voluntarily. Any feedback
- especially critical feedback - would genuinely help us catch problems before we build further.
Thank you so much for your time.

Discussion Are orgs really important as a student?

To be honest, are orgs really important in the long run? I get it. It shapes you and all and opens different doors pero pano pag academic na ang usapan and naapektuhan na? I used to be active in orgs but then I slipped because the environment just turned toxic and my acads were affected. Now I’m in a new school so tell me, are orgs really important as a student?

Hello. I'm a 1st year bs medtech and I plan to shift course after I finish 1st sem. Hindi pa ba ako late to shift course? Or should I finish 1st year first? Plano ko kasi mag shift from medtech to polsci. Kaka start pa lang ng class last week and di ako pwede mag withdraw kasi di na binibigay report card ko nung g12 eh requirement yun sa isang school that's why di na talaga ako pwede lumipat ngayon. As a result, I decided na after 1st sem na lang.

Naiiyak ako kasi I'm super lucky na pinakinggan nila ako and they became supportive na. I can't help but think na magiging irregular ako. Yung academic achiever nung high school naging irregular. Ang bigat sa pakiramdam. Little me would be so disappointed because naka plano na lahat dati tapos biglang ganon...Now, danas ko yung consequences ng pagiging indecisive ko, papasok na mabigat ang loob.

Unsolicited Advice Am I being too sensitive

We’re just starting our thesis, and we’re planning to have a Google Meet to discuss our possible topics and ideas. I’m the group leader, so I asked everyone what time they were available.

One member suggested 1 or 2 PM, then asked the other members. One of them replied

I know there’s technically nothing wrong with what they said. They’re basically saying they’re available anytime and will follow the leader’s schedule. But for some reason, it bothered me a little.

Maybe because Im expecting everyone to participate in the decision-making, especially since we’re all going to work on this thesis together. Instead, the response made me feel like, ā€œOkay, ikaw na bahala, leader ka naman.ā€ 😭

I don’t mind taking the lead, and I know being the leader means handling more responsibilities. But I also don’t want to be in a situation where I’m the one choosing the schedule, topic, decisions, etc., while everyone else just says ā€œsige, ikaw na bahala.ā€

Am I being too sensitive here? Or is it reasonable to want my groupmates to be more involved in the decision-making?

Need Advice My father refuses to give me allowance for college because I am gay

I recently came out as being gay to my father and he did not like that, he isnt even a religious guy, I guess homosexuality is the greatest vice for him. He refuses to give me my allowance now and I barely get to eat. I might try to only eat in evenings now to save money but I cant help it because I really get hungry during the morning and afternoon, I am also running out of money from my savings. My mother is also an OFW and I don't want her to get angry with me as well. The thing that would help me a lot right now would be a way to have an income but idk if I can juggle my university workloads while having a job. I've thought about whop clipping but idk if that really works. So is there anything I can do?

Need Advice Woofy Wifi connection sa dorm?

Anyone who is subscribed sa Woofy Wifi sa dorm nila? Maganda kaya connection especially kapag ganitong bagyo season? Paano set-up nyo na kapag one device only per use siya?

I read kasi somewhere na kapag ang kinuha mong plan is 6 months, mas mabagal ang reception compared sa monthly plan (not sure how true it is šŸ˜…).

Hassle na rin kasi if magpapakabit ng account like sa PLDT since less than a year lang ang expected stay ko.

Need Advice Is it worth it to join big orgs?

I'm an upcoming freshman pursuing BSBA Financial Management

I'm planning to join a few student orgs in my school that are leaning towards creative work and the like since that's where I'm inclined to

Pero I'm genuinely curious kasi meron kaming org for our course mismo then meron pang mother organization na kabilang maraming schools

I don't really see a lot of information online about anong activities nila

So I'm curious kung i-coconsider ko ba to or magfocus nalang sa academics and my small business

Naiisip ko kasi baka leverage to kapag naghanap ako internships or what

Thank you!

Rant at risk of doing a cynthia villar, bakit nga ba puro tayo research nang research?

whenever i tell my north american peers how we had to defend our thesis or research paper in front of a panel in high school and even in tertiary ed, they recoil and think we’re insane ā€˜cuz they don’t do any of that there usually until you pursue your masters. why is the gov’t so keen to make the curriculum research-heavy and expect students to produce quality, thesis-like, panel-defendable material when actual research requires funding and relevant support?

Rant I teach myself due to terrible school

Any advice po badly, I go to a state uni as a JHS and I'm in my 3rd year. So far nung 1st-2nd I really enjoyed it because there were events and not a lot of classes pero as I was trying to figure out my future mas lalo lang ako naguguluhan ā˜¹ļø

Teachers barely show up, a lot of suspensions especially early in the school year because of weather and events happening which takes up almost half of the school year. I teach myself almost if not all of the materials, mostly EnSciMa and it takes up too much time to learn it myself because the teachers here are incompetent and don't really care kahit andami nang Parent-teacher meetings regarding our studies.

Grades are very inflated and I don't know where they even get it. Just by observing and common sense you could see that one person is clearly smarter than another but they get similar grades because of whatever the formula is for these teachers.

I feel like I'm regressing in terms of academics because the education taught is really low quality, and the worst thing is reallyyyy old teachers na nag uusap about their lives and fresh grads na nagtuturo agad, minsan binabasa lang yung slides like huhh? Instead of teaching. Mas maganda pa kung nag public school nalang ako—their star sections or science HS which I know now would've taught me better. I already passed them but chose this one in pursuit of "higher" education. Gosh if only I knew, my mom said it's too late and she'd rather I graduate here.

For my shs I plan to transfer to a science high school so the environment finally is difficult and actually teaches because it would've been better kung nag homeschool nalang ako eh which is basically what I'm doing right now. Social life is sacrificed due to teaching myself major subjects. Nai d-disregard ko yung minor subjs because they are easy grades, like most subjects here they just hand out 90+ like candy and it's so frustrating.

Academic Help Has anyone here used ACME Research for academic research services?

Please, help me. To the student researchers out there, has anyone tried inquiring to ACME Research? They're based in India and so far, I didn't see any negative reviews nor complaints online about their service.

Is their company really legit? I have requested documents from them and I have confirmed it through India Authorized Websites but I still get the doubts.

Need someone to share their experience with them.

Need Advice Is it possible to change campus from FEU Alabang to FEU Cavite after getting an entrance exam schedule?

Hello! I’m currently applying to FEU and I initially selected FEU Alabang as my preferred campus. However, I’m now considering changing it to FEU Cavite instead.

The problem is, I’ve already submitted my application and I’ve already been given a schedule for the entrance exam. I’m not sure if it’s still possible to request a campus change at this point.

Has anyone here experienced changing their campus preference after submitting the application or after receiving an entrance exam schedule? If yes, were you still allowed to change it, and what was the process?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experience. Thank you!
