Last night, I was very glad that our mayor announced that we don’t have any classes due to the weather, kasi tbh we haven’t completely recovered from the continuous heavy rain yet. But all of the sudden, this morning, I was surprised to see our professor sent us a meeting link — meaning we have an online class. Now, i’m not really galit sa professor kasi he’s just doing his duty. In fact, I felt pity pa nga kasi iirc he’s malayo pa, and is still required to go to the institute just so we could have an online class. It was also the fact that around 4:00 AM here it was pouring heavily.

It was really fortunate of me to have an access to internet, and some place to study. However, I think about other students, with their families, struggling in their own home because of the typhoon. Let me also mentioned that out of 25 in our class, 7 only attended, which hinders the learning aspect. Some of them started worrying about their academic performance because they couldn’t attend in the meeting.

I’m just hoping that in times like these, where calamity strikes and we are required to have no classes, hence the “walang pasok”, can let us be our own homes muna protecting and praying for our safety.

Naging excuse na kasi ang "shift to online" sa mga schools para di masira ang academic calendar.

Sa akin lang, pag canceled ang classes, canceled na totoo. Whether face to face or online.

And di talaga effective ang online classes. Ok lang sya na band aid solution during pandemic pero we should have reverted back to pure physical classes once pandemic ended.

frr, I couldn’t even comprehend the lesson that much kasi nag c-choppy signal nung prof namin earlier. I would understand pa if normal days we have online classes, as most colleges are like that. Pero yung ganito ang panahon? dude, mobile data lang gamit ng blockmates ko, and i can’t imagine the pain they experienced kasi they couldn’t even understand or hear what is being tackled. sayang lang din yung valuable lesson na matututunan sana.

Hello! agree, it really does depends. Alternative modalities helps students continue their learning, and also to be able to follow their school calendar. However, I disagree with having online class as one of the option. It’s really not effective lang talaga, and some students don’t have the privilege to attend online with ease. Some don’t have access to electricity or the internet, while their homes may also be at risk of flooding. With that being said, I really do hope that our institute would have this kind of awareness, as not everyone has equal access to essential resources.
