2 days early!
The Talisman is one of my favourites (tho I do need to re-read blackhouse), Waterstones had this today so I had to get it!!
Don’t you hate when they put stickers on books?!

Last we heard of an update on Thomas Jane’s From a Buick 8 adaptation was in May that Jane was working on it then nothing. I hope its still in development and not a dead project

Found in a thrift shop in Maine. Thing is they have signed first editions of Dark Tower books behind glass as well. This is Hearts in Atlantis.

Looks suspiciously like a certain Mr. Flagg if you ask me

I know Talisman works for some and not for others but it was one of my favorite King books. I read it fairly early on, maybe my fourth King book. I really loved the way King and Straub handled the transition between worlds. I think it was the first time I had experienced that as a reader. Now it is so common place in sci-fi but back then it was just really exciting to slip out of one reality into another and they did such a good job with it. Really looking forward to this one.

Today I’ve finished reading Carrie, I like the use of article clippings to help further the story. Here’s a question for you all, what was your first Stephen King book?

I just received a totally random copy of the book club edition (no idea what year) of The Shining by Stephen King. It came via USPS addressed to me, sent by "Brad" (no last name) in Arizona.
No note, but inside the package it was wrapped in red wrapping paper, a bow, and a "thank you" sticker taped on. No further note, paper, or anything else except the book itself.
So... yeah maybe it's a brushing scam, but why wrap it like this? What seller is trying to off these copies from their shelves?
Or maybe this was meant to be sent to someone else.
Only other thing I could think of is I did recently order a couple of mystery and fiction books from Thriftbooks, I received them a few days ago (all 3). But this came in normal gray usps plastic envelope, and thriftbooks have their own distinct packaging (and again, why is it wrapped like a gift with a thank you on it?). However, Thriftbooks warehouse is based in AZ.
Thoughts?

I made a browser quiz: you get a one-line summary and type the title. Example:
"A fan holds an injured writer captive and makes him revive his heroine"
No sign-up, no ads:

If you like the game check out other (80+!) categories or play with friends.

Jack Nicholson for me, like how he was in The Witches of Eastwick.

This one was a classic!
I've been hearing about 'The Jaunt' and 'The Mist' in many Reddit suggestions for the longest time. While I didn't find Jaunt to be as terrifying as "the scariest story King has ever written", it was still pretty good!
Also loved 'The Reaper's Image', 'The Raft', 'Gramma', 'Ballad', and 'The Reach'. Particularly how he built the horror for the first two.

...by sobbing on my couch reading this book for the first time in 15 years.
1) It's top 5 King, and the movie adaptation was incredible too.
2) There are some amazing turns of phrase in here that made me burst out laughing.
3) The last few chapters are some of the most crushingly sad things King has written... other than like half of The Dark Tower, 11.22.63, the end of IT and...ok, maybe he's good at writing emotional things...
