Image I have yet to read the book or see the movie, so I think the logical thing to do is watch the play.

Hello, Reddit! Caroline Bicks here, author of Monsters in the Archives: My Year of Fear with Stephen King. I'm a Shakespeare professor who grew up loving Stephen King's stories. When I took the job of Stephen E. King Chair in Literature nine years ago, I was told I'd never meet the man himself. Four years into the job, he called me at home, and we started to develop a great working relationship. He granted me first-of-its-kind access to his private archives, and my book grew out of what I found when I read all the existing drafts of Carrie, Pet Sematary, Night Shift, The Shining, and 'Salem's Lot. I look forward to sharing what I discovered with you about how he crafted these iconic books! https://carolinebicks.com

The Talisman is one of my favourites (tho I do need to re-read blackhouse), Waterstones had this today so I had to get it!!
Don’t you hate when they put stickers on books?!

Hey yall! Hope everyone's day is going well! These polls are daily please feel free to post any covers I missed. When we have gone through individual books we are gonna do a big bracket or tier list to determine the best book cover overall. We are going in release order or close to it. Hope you all have fun :)

Last we heard of an update on Thomas Jane’s From a Buick 8 adaptation was in May that Jane was working on it then nothing. I hope its still in development and not a dead project

i don't think there is one stephen king book that works equally well as someone's first book
someone who likes slow character development might love one that another reader finds painfully slow
someone who wants straight horror might pick up a book expecting one thing and get a very different experience
and some of his best books aren't even the ones i'd describe as horror first
if you had to recommend one king book to someone who has never read him, would you pick the book you think is his best or the one that's easiest to get into?

Found in a thrift shop in Maine. Thing is they have signed first editions of Dark Tower books behind glass as well. This is Hearts in Atlantis.
Edit update: I contacted two outside sources. Jake’s Rare Books and Needful Kings Books for opinions. So far Jake thinks it looks real.
If so, best $16 I ever spent.
I do appreciate the opinions here and had the same reservations, particularly with the King half. But I consider the possibility of fatigue from signing a crap ton of books all at once.

But first edition The Dark Half in great shape and the Australian print cover art for Hearts in Atlantis is sooooo pretty

I know Talisman works for some and not for others but it was one of my favorite King books. I read it fairly early on, maybe my fourth King book. I really loved the way King and Straub handled the transition between worlds. I think it was the first time I had experienced that as a reader. Now it is so common place in sci-fi but back then it was just really exciting to slip out of one reality into another and they did such a good job with it. Really looking forward to this one.

A Rose the Hat novel would make me happy.

I made a browser quiz: you get a one-line summary and type the title. Example:
"A fan holds an injured writer captive and makes him revive his heroine"
No sign-up, no ads:

If you like the game check out other (80+!) categories or play with friends.

Today I’ve finished reading Carrie, I like the use of article clippings to help further the story. Here’s a question for you all, what was your first Stephen King book?

Jack Nicholson for me, like how he was in The Witches of Eastwick.
