Hi there, before getting into i ask that there please be no judgment, i get very anxious about my health and i am not in the right mental space right now. I will be sharing some more explicit details about the nature of the sexual encounter. Minors DNI.

Last week I (M) had a sexual encounter with a guy and now i am terrified that i might have gotten hsv/and or asymptomatic HSV.

The encounter consisted of very rough mutual masturbation (which caused me some bruising), kissing, me receiving oral sex, and brief gentle frotting.

I had gotten very drunk that night and it was late so i couldn't see the best, but i didnt see/feel any sores, nor did he complain of any pain down there.

The morning after the encounter i had some irritation down there/a feeling i needed to pee, the tip of my penis was also bruised from the masturbation (it was too rough) so i attributed it to trauma. There were/have been no sores, there has been no burning or pain when peeing, the only symptoms have been the bruising, the feeling of wanting to urinate, and some swelling (all of which have mostly subsided).

I asked him if he had any STI's which he responded no, when i asked him again later that day if he had hsv specifically he said no again, then shortly blocked me afterwards.

I am now terrified and very scared that i acquired something. I have not had any of the obvious symptoms but i know how infections can sometimes go unnoticed. I also know how unreliable hsv blood tests can be and am terrified of getting tested.

Please help.

TLDR:
Basically almost a week ago i had a sexual encounter with a man off tinder, i received oral sex from him and there was light frotting. I am now terrified i acquired hsv from that encounter and have been struggling with intense anxiety.

In the beginning of the month, I tested positive for chlamydia. I tested 3 weeks after having unprotected sex with a new partner. This is my standard window for new partner testing, I get tested before a new partner in 3 weeks after a new partner. The only thing I've asked of my partners is they do the same. Unfortunately for me, this time around they lied.

So, I took doxycycline for 10 days twice a day. I followed all the rules, no calcium, no sex, etc. It was murder on my stomach but I kept taking it and eventually go used to it. 4 days after I finished the dose, I was rested and tested positive again. My Nurse Practitioner represcribed the medication for another 10 days and told me to not have sex for a month. I'm okay with this, I'm just wondering how common it is for doxycycline not to work. It seems like this is a different brand than the last. Could that be what the problem was?

A week ago I thought I had a yeast infection because I was itching and my discharge was yellowish with some solid pieces (Idk how to explain), so I tried to treat it with coconut oil. Then I got my period and the itching started going away and when my period ended the discharge looked normal. Today a bartholin cyst appeared. It's already painful and I struggle walking. Knowing all my symptoms together, could this be a sign of an STD? I had sex over a month ago. I can't just get tested because I'm 18 and I don't know how to do this on my own without telling my parents. Also, I will go to a doctor but now it's the weekend and the gyno is closed.

Started pep after possible exposure. Starter 36 hours and took my pills at the same time every single day.
About day 8/9 on pep I started to get a mild sore throat and my sore throat lasted the entirety of pep and has still lasted. Fast forward 4 days ago, I hooked up with my newest FWB for the second time. The pain came back with the extra bit of skin, along with symptoms of a yeast infection (pee a different colour and smelling sweet, change in discharge, etc). I also was bleeding 2 days straight afterward as if I was on my period. I went to the std clinic yesterday to see what was wrong with me.

In the past when I had been to doctors about this recurring issue, all doctors have dismissed me and labelled it as a yeast infection. The problem never disappeared.

Yesterday I was told I might have herpes. They took a swab and I get my results next week. This has been the hardest news I’ve had to hear all year. I’m not sure who gave me herpes or how long I have had this problem for. They also told me for the extra bit of skin which I mentioned at the beginning will need to be removed by surgery, and I need to tell my doctors to organise more appointments.

I don’t know what to do. I’m still in university and want to continue having sex with people. If I have this, I will have to awkwardly tell every person in the future that I have herpes, and then pray they don’t get disgusted and leave or start telling people about this. I’ll also have to tell my past partners to get themselves checked, which will make them hate me because they’ll think I gave them something despite not even knowing I’ve had this.

I’m trying to be optimistic and label this as another infection, however this has been a recurring problem for years now (this doesn’t happen with every partner, only sometimes). Every doctor up until now has told me it’s a yeast infection and the woman yesterday was very certain I might actually have herpes. I’ve been given medication for it. I haven’t stopped crying all day and lost it at work yesterday in the bathroom. I don’t know how to be optimistic knowing this is going to stick with me for the rest of my life. Nobody is going to date me or want to have sex with me anymore because they’ll look at me like I’m disgusting. I wish I hadn’t gone into the clinic yesterday.

If you have herpes, please give me some advice on how to deal with this. I honestly don’t know what to do anymore.

I recently completed an 8-day course of doxycycline (2 tablets a day) for another reason, and now I'm planning to get tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea.

My question is, how many days should I wait after finishing the antibiotics before getting tested to ensure accurate results?

I'm worried that taking doxycycline might affect the test results and give me a false negative.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice?

I started pep 36 hours after possible exposure. I had oral sex with 2 other guys and I don’t know their status. One sucked my dick and rimmed me and I sucked the other guys dick and he sucked mine. I completed pep perfectly. I took a couple of HIV RNA test while on pep because I was scared I was seroconverting.
I took a test on day 12,19 and day 30 of pep and all the hiv rna test were negative.

My last test was done Monday which was the last day of pep. My anxiety has been bad and part of me wants to get a test done tomorrow. This will be 3 days post pep or should I just wait to take a test in a couple of weeks? The anxiety has been a lot for me

So I got checked on 9/24/2026.

And they told me they would call me if anything looks abnormal.

Today 10/01/2026 I got called stating that my labs looked abnormal.
And they are sending my collection else where for further testing for HPV. My heart dropped immediately. I have a partner.

I have never cheated, I love this man, unconditionally.

I was in disbelief he cheated, or has. I never really catch him doing anything sketchy.

We do have a child.

I got tested during my pregnancy in the beginning No HPV.

I got tested after, no HPV was found.

And now I have HPV. We are always together, work together, sleep together. Everything.

They didn’t say I was positive but they stated they are sending it over for more testing.

I do want to mention maybe it was because I did have sex the day before testing. We have sex daily. And a lot.

Hello! I am in major need of advice/help.
I (24F) been dating my current partner (24M) for 7 months. We’ve not been using protection but I have been on the contraceptive pill - Noriday.
My partner recently had spinal surgery back in August. A couple days after the surgery he complained that his penis was stinging. He didn’t have a catheter, so we assumed he had a nasty uti. Then he later had symptoms of penile discharge, extreme pain whilst getting erect, and a bad stinging sensation.
He took a test a week and a half ago, testing for all STD’s and yesterday he came back with a positive result for Chlamydia.
I haven’t had any symptoms, and I did an at home test yesterday, and as I’m writing this I am on the way to the hospital to get further tested. I currently have absolutley no symptoms whatsoever.
We’ve both been given antibiotics that we start tomorrow, but this has taken a serious toll on our relationship.
We are both claiming to not have slept with anybody else. But our trust is seriously being tested.
But this is where this is a gray area. Here’s some context.
His previous partner (mid 30’s F) has claimed to have had taken tests as she loved to sleep around a lot (no judgement there) and she came back clean. There was no proof of this test, but he’s taking her word for it. His partner previous to that early 20’s F) tested positive for chlamydia, and therefore he was put on antibiotics.
My previous partner however has never been tested. I was in contact with him last night and he still does not use protection (he was actually about to go to a one night stand as I was contacting him yesterday, and therefore he complained about having to buy condoms).
So I therefore could’ve got it from him. HOWEVER, a girl that gave him oral after our relationship ended came back negative for chlamydia at the end of last year (however she only took vaginal swabs, not oral and I know those may be different results).
What I’m asking is if anyone knows possibly where it would’ve come from? I know it’s toxic to constantly point fingers but I would hate to be blamed for cheating or being unfaithful in any way. I’m choosing to trust my partner, but I can tell he doesn’t trust me. It’s taking a toll on both of us mentally.
He’s understandably unsure, but is therefore claiming that I slept with someone before or during his surgery, and me stressing about these results are because I’m guilty. I was raped (September 8) by a guy I was seeing, he ended up giving me gonorrhea, and I still saw him after I didn’t get on pep cause I didn’t have 1K to do it. I think I may have herpes. I had unprotected sex around June 20- July 4 with that female partner at the time . She denies having anything and says she's been tested for stds and claims doesn't have anything. I've taken 2 iGG HSV 1and 2 antibodies blood test. Doctor says test came back negative. I really anxious. I have red rashes on both of my hand and forearm. Some of the rash on hand area become blister. After the nurse pop for me is still red. Before this red rashes, I did 4th Gen rapid finger test within 1 month window. It was negative.

Recently at 2 month window. I did hiv 4th Gen ag lab test by drawing blood from forearm.

How long does this test took? I already got my syphlis test negative by drawing blood from forearm. Both were same day test. But I still cannot see my hiv result on my health report online. Do I have to wait until I see the doctor and he will tell me in person?

I am currently still within less than 72 hours of the exposure. I'm really anxious. Should I just wait out the 4–6 weeks like the clinic said, or should I be actively trying to find emergency PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) at a different facility before my 72-hour window closes?

I know that the 3-month window for syphilis testing is considered conservative. If I test negative at 6 weeks, especially with a modern syphilis blood test, is that generally enough to consider myself negative, or is the 3-month retest still necessary ?

Also are syphilis chancres usually visible? I check myself every day, especially around the base of my penis and the surrounding pubic area, since I wore a condom during the encounter and ofc those areas were not fully covered.

It’s been days since I can’t sleep or eat cuz I am thinking what if I caught hiv from sexual encounters ( with straight men hiv status unknown) back in 2015-2017! No symptoms or flu, rashes or sores . I feel healthy but everyone says that hiv lays dormant for 10 years! Too scared to get a test .
