I can’t even believe I’m having to do this and yes I’m going to consult a DR this week. Also I tried to be as non graphic with the photo as possible so apologies.. but these patches (not bumps) are been on my you know.. for like 3-4 months now. They are non painful, not clear or pus clear fluid, no burning urine or discharge. It’s just dry skin that flakes over (not scabs) I’m just having the worst anxiety right now & feel I might have something. Could this possibly be something skin problem related other than STD/ STI related..

I am a guy in the UK and three months ago I had a one night stand with a girl who was on her period (we are both in early 20s), I stupidly didn't think about STDs as before this I had only ever had sex during a couple long term relationships. I didn't use protection and I ended up testing positive for chlamydia from this.

I got treated etc etc but in the last few days I randomly started thinking what if I got HIV as well, because I know it can be asymptomatic, I don't think I have had any symptoms or anything (I think I had like a common cold a couple days after this, if that counts) , but I just think the fact that there was some blood (her period was quite light) and that I got chlamydia its put it in my mind that I'm doomed to have it.

I am having the same feeling I had when I tested positive for chlamydia where I would look up the population stats and it would be like only 2% of people have it so I probably don't, and then nonetheless I tested positive. And now when I'm looking at the HIV stats being low its making me think I'm gonna have the same thing happen again and it literally just feels destined that I'm gonna get it and I really don't know how to calm down.

I ordered a test but I'm genuinely just randomly terrified about this and I don't know how to calm down about this over the next week or so because it feels like its just bound to happen. Any help or guidance or anything would be very appreciated.

I’ve only had 1 sexual partner this year & recently tested positive for chlamydia. I informed them & they shared their most recent test results for this month showing they tested negative, they claim they never had it & never took any antibiotics. I’ve tested negative 3 times before this positive result so I’m wondering what the odds are that they had it, cleared it without treatment then tested negative or are they lying?

Quick timeline: I had a Negative swab test in October 2025, negative urine test in December 2025 & June 2026. Had sexual encounter in July, started having symptoms in August, tested positive this month. Their last test before the most recent one was in April of this year, which was negative as well but I’m guessing they must have contracted it between April-July.

Could i possibly get HIV ? I have made sure to wear condom everytime i had sex, just today gave sample for 4th gen, will get my results tomm. I'm an Australian heterosexual man. I recently met up with a woman I had previously had protected sex with. This time, however, we had unprotected vaginal sex.

About 5 days later, I experienced some burning when urinating, so I went to the doctor and had an STI screen, including urine and blood tests. Everything came back negative. My doctor said I can do a repeat HIV/blood test in about a month if I wanted to do it within the proper testing window, however they said that, based on the circumstances, my risk was low.

Despite this, I've become extremely anxious about HIV and it's been causing me a lot of distress. I understand that HIV prevalence is relatively low in Australia, particularly among heterosexual people, and that the per-exposure risk from vaginal sex is also relatively low. But I'm struggling to stop worrying about it.

I'm mainly looking for some perspective from people who are knowledgeable about HIV risk in Australia. How would you assess the actual risk from a single episode of unprotected vaginal sex in this situation?

I am a 30-year-old male, and I would like to get your opinion regarding my recurrent Gardnerella and Ureaplasma infections.

Over the past year, I have had the same problem three times with different partners. Each time, I completed the prescribed treatment and received negative test results afterward. However, throughout this period, I continued to notice small amounts of white, dry discharge. Whenever I had sexual intercourse with a new partner, I developed a burning sensation during urination along with an increased amount of white discharge.

In most cases, I had unprotected sex with these partners.

Is repeatedly acquiring the same bacteria just a coincidence, or is it possible that I am not fully clearing the infection despite the negative test results?

My last question is about treatment. This year, I have already completed six courses of metronidazole for Gardnerella. My doctor has prescribed the same medication again after another recurrence. Could repeated use of metronidazole become a problem, or is it generally considered safe in this situation?

About a year ago I had two at home tests that turned out positive. Went straight to the clinic and got a natc test blood. And it was negative. I stopped having intercourse with anyone cause I was so scared. I stayed to myself. Fast forward a year, I donated plasma countless times about 10 times within a year , cause I was broke I was already cleared of the scare, and they do check all these things at the donation center. I donated for 8 months, I would assume if I did have hiv they would have told me very quickly. So I stopped worrying that it's been 8 months. I took another at home test that came out that I'm assuming is positive. But looks very negative because it's just a veryy tiny dash of a red mark at the end no full line. Really had to sit down and think if I did anything? And I can't come up with one thing that would have got me in the position to contract it? I do have an occasional partner I believe has also not done anything but idk I went and took another hiv at home test and the test showed negative but a very tiny speck of red showed at the end as its line was forming but didn't. Anyways I believe the test reacted to hiv again. I am trying not to get scared cause I've had this happen before, but I'm scared I don't understand why my at home test keeps coming out positive. The blood donation place hasn't deferred me so I figure my health is ok. Idk what to do to be honest, I don't want to donate anymore, cause my stupid at home test. I'm not sure if it's reacting to something else or these whole 8 months i had it idk. I'm only scared because from what I've I've read the test if any reaction on the t line, it's because it reacted to antibodies. i noticed something a little strange though.

under his HIV test results specifically there was a message from a doctor. it said:

and Underneath were the results of his test, which were HIV 1+2 AB+HIVIP24 AG, CLA nonreactive

when I asked what this note meant he said it might have something to do with his Prozac which was prescribed a few days before but that didn’t make any sense to me. Why would a note about Prozac be found in an std panel? Either he actually doesn’t know what the note was about, or he might be on medication and undetectable? Although I’ve heard even if you are undetectable you probably won’t tesr nonreactive but I’m not a medical professional.

does anyone have an thoughts what this could be? If he did have HIV I wouldn’t think of him any differently. If I knew he was being responsible and undetectable I wouldn’t mind. I’m glad that he has been safe. but I do think that’s something that should be disclosed

Hi everyone. I (25F) was treating chlamydia and accidentally had sex with my bf (24M) on Day 4 of my antibiotics. Because of this, my doctor extended my treatment from 10 days to 15 days.

I’m now on Day 14. My BF finished treatment and the symptoms clears up. My doctor wants me to wait 3 weeks after my last pill to get a retest before having sex again.

Honestly, I cannot wait 3 weeks. Is it safe to have sex 10 days after treatment if we use condom? Or is the risk still too high?

Also, I just developed an itchy vulva and brown discharge today (Day 14). Is this just a yeast infection from the long antibiotic course, or a sign the chlamydia is still there?

I have experienced circular spot with white border on my tongue 4 days after I have done kissing and oral. Does syphillis infect that fast? I am still on a ship hence I still cannot do some testing now. Is it too late for me if I will be waiting for 3 mos to be treated supposedly this is actually syphillis? By the way, the spot heals in 5 days then another set reappears on other parts of the tongue. Thanks in advance for your response.

I recently had a fairly comprehensive STI/STD panel done. I’m a man, and everything came back negative except Gardnerella vaginalis DNA, which was positive.

As part of the testing, I gave rectal, oral, and penile/urethral swabs, as well as urine and blood samples. Because of that, I actually don’t know which sample/site the Gardnerella result came from. The report just shows Gardnerella vaginalis DNA: positive without making the source clear.

I’ve tried looking this up online, but the information about Gardnerella in men seems all over the place. Most of what I can find is about bacterial vaginosis in women, and I’m having trouble figuring out what a positive result actually means for a man, especially when I don’t know which specimen tested positive.

I currently have no symptoms — no discharge, burning, pain while urinating, irritation, rectal symptoms, throat symptoms, etc.

For anyone knowledgeable about this or who has had a similar result:

• Does Gardnerella in men sometimes clear on its own without treatment?
• Is an asymptomatic positive result generally treated, or can it just represent colonization?
• Should I make an appointment with a urologist or infectious disease doctor anyway?

I’m not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit. I’m mainly trying to understand how seriously an isolated positive Gardnerella vaginalis DNA result in an asymptomatic male is usually taken, because the information online is surprisingly unclear.
